Daniel, I hope this doesn’t offend you…since I am a 63 year old purple haired lady…but we really have very similar tastes in music. I love watching you react to music I was fortunate enough to play for the first time on the radio in D/FW. This band, AIC, and others. Thank You.
Chris Cornell possessed one of the greatest voices rock has given us since its inception 60+years ago! His range and ability were perfect for the heaviest of all the 'grunge' bands, and they also had the greatest drummer in Matt Cameron! Nirvana may have shifted more units, but Soundgarden had the chops!
Man oh man, Chris’s voice is so damn good. I agree with you this riff is so cool and the whole song just gets me. Love it, love it, love it. RIP Chris Cornell. ❤️
Guys my age are pretty much stuck listening to classic rock. But Soundgarden was one of my daughter's faves, and I heard, and liked, a lot of their tunes, this one in particular.
Gotta branch out and have an open mind... I grew up on classic rock because of my parents but I also was a teenager in the mid 90’s... Soundgarden and Alice In Chains became some of my favorites.... a new band I’ll suggest to you since you like classic rock is Rival Sons... check out the songs Too Bad, Open My Eyes, Electric Man, Do Your Worst, Torture, Hollow Bones, Pressure and Time, Jordan... one of the best recent bands out there that most people don’t know about, they are fantastic live as well 🤘🏽
Chester Bennington was a huge fan and friend of Cornell’s and was hit hard by his suicide. So was I. I cried for a month. Soundgarden were just amazing. Check out Rusty Cage (audio only, the video version is shortened) and Beyond the wheel (live at the Paramount ‘92) to see and hear him at his very peak. RIP
I was a sophomore in high school when Lennon was shot. I was holding back the tears as best I could the following day. I seen Chris live in Camden New Jersey years ago. It was one of those whole day festivals and he did an acoustic set. As far as Chester and Chris , imagine having the world at your hand yet you feel so worthless. Mental illness is a real issue.
NewBluesBros. "I seen"... Really?? Did they teach English in your school? Try "I saw." Then at least you would sound semi-educated. You might want to pick up a book on English grammar before you do any more writing. It's obvious that your elementary school let you down. I'm sorry about that.
@@_bats_ No. I don’t feel better. I’m just concerned about our next generations and their learning about gender identity instead of reading, writing, and math. Where are we headed?
Listen to him! Amazing! Another artist gone too soon. What a guitar. What a band! Rock on Chris! The last two reactions felt like perfect tributes to Chester and Chris!!
Daniel, you did Audioslave's Like a Prayer and were moved by those lyrics, you should consider Chris Cornell's solo Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart. I would recommend the official lyric version, you could get into those lyrics too. Don't know if you heard that Robby Steinhardt, the former violinist and co-singer for KANSAS passed away over the weekend. Maybe you could re-visit some early KANSAS and do a song with violin and Robby's voice like Down the Road, Song for America, Bringing It Back, Miracles out of Nowhere or Sparks of the Tempest, videos would be good here too.
Of all the "grunge" bands, imo, Soundgarden was the best. Kim is an amazing guitarist. Chris was so amazing, just glad I got to see them live! Please, more Soundgarden! Let's break that rusty cage...
I like Alice in Chains a little better but I like soungarden better than Nirvana and Pearl Jam I think AIC and Radiohead are the two best bands from that era and I will add NIN to that list. I wonder why this kid does not ever react to Radiohead except Creep.
Yeah, I was huge fan of Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog since back in the day, and I also loved some of his solo stuff and his later work with Audioslave, but when they announced that he'd died and how he'd died, the first thing I thought was, "Oh, man. That sucks," immediately followed by, "Yeah, of course he did." He'd been talking about his problems in many of his songs for so long it wasn't really much of a surprise that something like that could happen. Still sad, of course.
Yes Daniel, If you would please, react to Kansas song, Because their Violinist Robbie Steinhardt died over the past weekend, sparks of the Tempest would be a great song to do, he is on vocals also? Please and thanks.
I'd like to request 'The day I tried to live" also from Superunknown. There's a line about dangling from power lines and it's just... it's really amazing.
You know what would be a cool song to do if you're not familiar with it: You Know My Name" (Chris Cornell Solo) -- it was the theme song to the James Bond movie Casino Royale (the first ofnthe Daniel Craig Bond movies).
I always wondered if the line "hands are for shaking not tieing" may have been aimed at the record label execs. I've seen many artists send a similar message about being limited to what exactly they can put on their albums, release as a single, etc. As in hands are for shaking in making deals but tied by execs who take away that freedom you had as an Indy performer. Daniel, everyone is throwing out good suggestions here for Soundgarden songs I can only add a couple of solo songs by Chris for the movie Singles (Sunshower and Seasons) and Casino Royale (You Know My Name) and a couple of Audioslave songs (Cochise and Shadow on the Sun) to the list of suggestions.
Bennington killed himself on Chris Cornell’s birthday -he chose that day-four months after Cornell killed himself. Please say it as it is: saying “passed away” takes away from their struggles and from the truth people need to hear who don’t know who they are. I was and am a huge Soundgarden and Chris Cornell fan. His voice is so good-one of the best in rock- and he kept getting better in all ways as he matured. Please react to his collaboration with Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam): Temple of the Dog: Hunger Strike. You won’t be disappointed; it showcases both their voices. And why have you never reacted to Pearl Jam? Vedder started out great and just keeps getting better. Start with their first album, perhaps with the song Evenflow (video). But I think if you have a minute, put on your headphones one night and listen to that entire album. Listen/ react to Soundgarden, Black Hole Sun; and Spoonman, from the same album as Fell on Black Days. Jump some years and listen/react to Cornell’s cover of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. It’s quite incredible. His acoustic cover of Prince’s Nothing Compares to You is also so good. Watch the videos as his guitar playing is excellent which you clearly see as well as hear. I followed Linkin Park too. Bennington voice was under appreciated. Rest In Peace, Chris and Chester. Condolences especially to Chris’s daughter. People grow and sometimes that inevitably brings about change. It could go in any direction, good, bad, happy, sad. And many many artists write from pain (not only, but as they go through suffering) and that’s what helps them. I can list a hundred songs. Most don’t succumb to suicide.
Hey bro. I'm loving your content. I don't mean to make an issues, I just observed over your last couple of videos that something may be going on with your right eye. If you haven't had an eye check up lately you should get a check up. With peace and love x
He was dying and wanted to raise money for his family to have when he was gone. Then he got greedy, and it was about making money, than about his family.
It's actually 6/4. If it was 3/4 there would be a big accent every 3 beats, like in a waltz. I this song the biggest accent comes every 6 beats at the start of the guitar riff.
man you just gotta react to every soundgarden song or listen on your own time because theyre so fcking good you have no idea the kinda solos kim has made which is the guitarist and the vocal range of chris cornell it shows in the song smokestack lightning at the end

When you think about it, just about MOST singers from these 90's grunge groups are dead. Layne Staley, Chris, Scott Weiland, etc. I wish people would stop glorifying them to some degree.
The dude can really sing....R.I.P. Chris..we all miss you.
“Don’t you lock up something that wanted to see fly” is my fav lyric. RIP Chris Cornell.
By far my favorite Soundgarden song. Sure miss grunge.
That line . How would I know. That this could be my fate. A real gut-punch.
This is great, and his work on the supergroup Audioslave takes it to another level and is simply electrifying.

The Sirius Live version Chris Cornell did of this song is the best version I've ever heard. 2nd is the Official CD version. Then this one is 3rd.
This is my favorite song by them i think it is so much better than Black Hole Sun which is not a bad song by the way.
