It's good to find your channel and listen to the discussion with Robert Jones. I just listened to Jones on Politics and Prose for the first time and found his work on PRRI, all news to me. I am a bit older than you fellows but like Jones, was raised in the south and failed to learn a lot of history about the south while going to public schools in North Carolina. I have lived in South Carolina for more than 20 years now, love the state, but have had to dig like crazy to find much of our history. Thank heavens for the public library. I've wondered for years how deeply the church was involved in propping up the institution of slavery and now to hear Jones say it actually began with the church's direction way back in 1493 was it? Stunning, absolutely stunning. The separation of church and state is one of the major foundations of religious freedom in this country. It worked for many many years. To toss it aside is nuts.
Excellent debate. The genocide of the native Americans and transfer of their lands to the privileged group explains the gross inequality of wealth in the US. It is time to come together as a nation and treat everyone equally.
