And now a video of you playing Mario Kart is making me cry like its the last day of church camp. It's all coming full circle. THANKS A LOT TYSON. But for real, this is beautiful. You're one of the best storytellers of this generation. Thankful that you're using your gifts.
This song is beautiful, convicting, and it still manages to make me smile. Wonderfully done. Thank you for your courage to share some of the dustier, grittier sides of what it looks like to be a Christian. It's not always perfect, we're allowed to doubt and question the way we are doing things in the name of God, and that's totally okay.
This song debuted when my husband was just at the beginning of converting to the Catholic faith. He played it for me and to this day I feel that it gives me a connection to him that I didn’t quite have before. I was raised Catholic, held on loosely while attending evangelical churches with him the first 12 years of marriage, then needed to return with everything I had. He decided to really try to understand and he ended up entering the Church. It’s been such a beautiful and scary ride… listening to this again because I wanted to share with a friend. Such a great song-thank you!
I love hearing the meanings behind songs. I really enjoyed this song when I first heard it because the studio version is upbeat and really pleasant to listen to. After hearing the meaning behind it, it definitely makes me think twice about the lyrics. I was raised in the catholic faith so the religious references in the lyrics really stood out to me. Now I have a better sense of the story behind the song. Thanks for sharing this personal story with the internet!
Does Sunday Morning offer a good feeling, a warning, or a new life? Which are we offering? Thanks for sharing this Tyson. Man, I would give anything to chill on a couch with you and chat about all of the stories behind your songs. Hoping to see more of these. So pumped for the coming release =]
I am a robot with rudimentary programmed feelings. You are a human man with feelings and thoughts. Sad. P.S. love all the songs ... especially this one.
I don't think he's denouncing that one can be emotional about thier faith (even collectively). Its more so that faith needs to be more than having a good cry or catharsis. I'm sure the Pentecost was definitely full of collective emotions but the disciples were not chasing that feeling afterwards, they let it strengthen them and moved forward.
@jtcupo@gmail.com Church has become cookie cutter and more traditional in their structure but it's not all about that. The heart of it is the two person way of just you and God. Church is for community and to "sharpen that iron" but that also can happen on the weekdays. Christianity is the religion around the relationship with God/Christ/Jesus/Holly Spirit, (whichever you fancy they are all the same guy). So talk to Him sometimes, no need for some fancy prayer or a scheduled church service, He's a friend that wants to point you in the right direction and help ya out when you ask for it, well, most of the time : )
Sorry that you had this bad experience with things in your life, hell fire and brimstone teaching is what it seems like you experienced, and it can be taught without any heart of God in it to try to scare people into being Christian, but there is a hell and a heaven and one God on the throne and the message to be spread was about the salvation and redemption through Jesus Christ and LOVE! But sadly people are turned away by people or pastors and their “religious” bondage that excludes the relationship with God, not to say that hell doesn’t exist but the point of the gospel was someone paid for our sins we just got to accept him in our hearts, he loved us enough to die for us, i hope you can feel his love despite human misrepresentation
Beautiful, thank you

God bless you, praying for you and your family.
I hate that this wasn't the album version. It's so incredibly good here.

With the story and version it sounds so much more sad than the recording
