- The Simple Asymmetric Mohair Shawl is a beginner-friendly crochet shawl designed to be simple and fun! The use of basic crochet stitches makes it easy to create. While its asymmetric shape makes it easy to adjust its size as well as easy to wear.
This crochet shawl is worked flat in one piece holding a strand of a gradient fingering weight yarn with a strand of laceweight mohair yarn. And not to worry! If you are sensitive to mohair, you can use a DK weight yarn in place of the fingering weight and lace weight held together.
To create the asymmetric shape increases are worked along one edge of the shawl only. And simple lace stripes are placed between rows of double crochet to make this project simple yet fun!

I’ve been looking for an easy but good looking asymmetric shawl that my fumbling fingers can manage. This design is brilliant and will be just right for me.
Just what I was looking for!!! Thank you so very much from Colorado ❤
Pretty swal🥰, pattern great, the pdf is magnificent , the clear instructions as very well. NAMASTE.Thank you😘from Spain
I love this shawl and the tutorial was super clear!!
Thank you Lacy! I had some audio issues as you may have noticed I’m glad everything was still very clear!
Very pretty yarn, and pattern ❤ great clear instructions as well. Thank you
Gorgeous. Thank you.
almost done with my first one waiting for yarn to come to make another Love the pattern
I'm so glad you love it!
Very good tutorial. I can see why it flew off your hook. I really love the look of the mohair with the colorful yarn, I'll have to work on finding a substitute for the mohair though. :-)
Thank you Kim! Do you do alpaca at all? Suri alpaca would be a good substitute. Otherwise just swap out for a a DK weight. Or you could even do a gradient a port weight with a plain lace weight to get the marled color look without the fuzz. Also I think they make acrylic yarns that imitate mohair, but I’m not super familiar with them
I found your pattern a few days ago and I'm almost finished with my shawl. I got some Caron O'Go Halo yarn in a pretty blue. It's working up beautifully! Thanks for ready to follow pattern
That was supposed to say *easy haha
I'm so glad you like it! That's a gorgeous yarn choice!!
Where did you find this pattern
Amanda!!!! You're almost at 1k!!! Do you have the community tab yet? Way to Go!
How exciting! Thank you! It hasn't popped up yet, but I expect it should be showing it's face soon! I better go learn how to use it lol
It's so beautiful! I am not a lace fan and love asymmetrical shawls. I will be making this! I thought I'd need way more yarn than that!!! I have 3 Malabrigo sock wt. hanks I would like to make with this. Do you think sock wt. would work up about the same with your pattern?
Thank you Marquita! You could definitely use the malabrigo sock weight! Just hold two strands together and see how the 4.5 mm hook feels you might wanna go up to a 5 mm. I think it will be lovely!
Where can I get a written pattern?
It’s on my website under the same pattern name mandobug.com/simpleasymmetricmohairshawl/
