great tutorials DM Productions, thank you. Being a 'one month newbie' I sadly updated to new firmware and get the lag in turning on the rc2 controller. I have a question, Do DJI have a way to rollback or can I download older firmware and re-install that version of firmware to my dji rc 2 - I thibk it would be a nice feature if dji added this. And why don't dji list the "fixed known bugs"?
I have the same problem as you, my RC2 is very slow on startup with this black screen. I just did the update and for the moment it doesn't change anything, still the same slowness problem the RC1 was better

Great channel, my DJI RC Pro smart remote has recently run into an issue with storage after the last update and has become slower to get GPS. I have no images or videos stored but seems like the DJI Fly 2 app nows takes a lot of space leaving me with about 10GB that then just disappears shortly after take off. I store to Micro SD on drone not remote but today it switched itself to drone storage then back to card.
Good video. DJI’s quality control on their firmware updates are NOT doing their jobs thoroughly enough.

Maybe I am confused but at 3:09 you are saying RC-N2 and showing the RC-N1. The Home buttons are different between the 2. I have yet to update and I am using the RC-N2 with with my TriplTek 8. I got my system the first part of March. Unless they have released different flavors? Difference in the US? Thanks.
As always very good work DM. You see, I am having a problem with the last two updates, I thought this last one would fix it but it has not. The problem is that I can't perform Hyperlapses. When I hit the record and start button, it stalls it does a loop back on the red sphere of the picture and then the picture crashes, goes black and white and goes back to video mode. This is always the case. It is a real despair all this. Anyway, I hope you can help me, although I think it will have to be dji who finally does it. Best regards and thanks in advance.

The one current issue I have is with my Mini 2 and the N2 controller.
When I want to do a fast video transfer by pressing the fast transfer button either on screen or on the drone itself.
It says that it's found the drone on screen but it's failed to connect to do the fast transfer via WiFi.
I'm not sure whether you have the same issue Darren, or whether it's just me or a firmware update that has caused this issue?
Everything is taking sooo long to transfer over to my phone now than what it did before.
As I do like to edit a few pictures and video on my phone when I'm away from home.

I never noticed. I switch on the remote and while it boots i make the drone flight ready.
Could it be that the hardware change? My brand new RC2 also takes some time to boot but after it runs, everything is smooth.
My RC2 (most recent controller firmware) boots in about 20s, so I don't have that issue.
A fair comparison to the N2 would include the boot time for the fly app host (phone in case of the N2).
And BTW I don't see why you expect the *controller's* boot time to change after updating the *drone's* firmware?
I've been using a monitor screen with my RC2; when it works, it's great. But I frequently just get a blank monitor screen and a "no HDMI signal." Not cool.
I booted up my air 3 after a long time of not using it and I had a periodic roll twitch where it would jar the footage. I fly a lot with obstacle avoidance off but it seemed to try to flip itself momentarily when it detected something at a certain angle.
I'am still running app ver 1.12.4, I've only had1glitch with the RC 2, IT froze on me once a mile out, had to reboot,the RC2 boots up normally. So I think your issue is with the update, thats why I wait awhile before ever updating

@@jimthorleydronefootage Same here.. My RC2 is perfectly fine. I timed my boot up with my iphone after I watched your video and my controller was in the fly app ready to go in under 33 seconds give or take a second for error.
I also have no problem with my RC2. I am on the latest version from April 11. V02.02.0000. Fly app is V1.13.0, with the remote saying it is up to date (even though Fly app is currently on v1.13.2).
The first go, I left the drone off and I timed the RC2 boot up after pushing the power button when it makes the sound until it got to the main home page of the fly app. It took 25 seconds.
On the second try. I powered on the drone and then powered on the RC2, again timing the boot up, but this time waiting until the Fly app started up and then automatically opened the camera view and showed me the drone feed and loaded the map and all the HUD telemetry. This time it took 47 seconds, which seems about how long it’s always taken since I got the drone over two months ago.
For the record, I have the Air 3, which is also on the latest firmware from April 23. V01.01.1300.
I just ordered an Air 3 yesterday with the RC2. Has this delay been fixed yet? If not how long does DJI normally release updates? It’s my first DJI so I don’t know how on top of things they are. Thanks for the great videos 👍
I have the goggles Integra, Air3 and RC2. I have seen in other videos that you have to turn on the drone, then the goggles and then the RC2. This does not work with the Air 3 with goggles Integra. is this problem solved after the latest update?

Hi buddy, wonder if you have any ideas or know someone thats had this problem. just updated my 4pro controller but when i turn on it stays on the white DJI screen and i cant do anything, swipe or other etc. is there a reset code with the buttons or a secret hole to stick a pin ??

Is there any chance DJI will add in the near future option to follow the controllers in-build gps? It's so frustrating when my Air 3 loses me and just stops the middle of nowhere. This option would make this drone complete
Got 2 RC2s, one for the M4P and one for the Air 3. Both on Firmware V02.02.0000 and App 1.13.0. Time from switching on up into the user interface 23 seconds. No black screen in-between. So some weird thing must be going on on some of the RC2s, but probably not on all of them?

I just received my goggles 3 and my settings were to record on both the sd in my mini 4 and the goggles. After the flight the sd card in the goggles had no video files, what did I do wrong

I’ll check this by downloading firmware update today on my Air 3. I have noticed that the fly app on iOS for my Mini 2 has a different version number than my android RC 2. And I did notice the P mode in N mode on the RC 2

I noticed this as well about the boot up speed. Part of the selling point for me was to get the drone in the air asap. But when I got the RC 2 I was starting to question the claims. I thought, “Man…I can get my phone on a controller at about the same time this is taking to boot”.
Yep when it first came out it was a lot faster let’s hope it’s sorted soon

Same issue, but I have an additional issue. Both my R/C and R/C 2 have major range issues now with both my Mavic 3 and Air 3.
Yes I noticed this black screen. Also, that stays on there for a while. At first I thought my remote broke.
Takes a minute longer to warm up on the RC2? I’m not going to update this firmware until they fix that.

I always leave it a couple of weeks before I update my drones, so there are no issues with the updates like in the past. My rc2 still starts up really quick with no issues.

Iv bought a dji air 3 I paid £900 on ebay for it. Its not been used for a while would you recommend updating it or not
Timed the RC2 from switch on to ready to fly twice. 24.02 and 23.82 secs. Mini 4 pro with the same firmware as yourself. Still seems slow compared to how it used to be.
Half the speed of mine lol, that’s the difference between missing a shot I’ll take it 😂
have the dji mini pro 4 and had the vision sensor error where it said BKWD and FWD unavailable as well as UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT. The H icon in the upper right was red. I could not launch the drone as the launch icon was unavailable. I have the RC2 remote. I did the latest firmware update and the H was still red with the same message but the launch button was available now on the screen. I contacted dji through the chat to make sure the vision sensors would work and they said the H will remain red with the same message above but the H will turn white and the message goes away once you launch???
My only complaint, with the Air3, is that when we are recording we cannot switch between the Wide and Tele cameras without stopping recording.

Why is the hyperlapse video slightly lagging ?
I got a drone by myself and consuming evry of your videos. But seeing these mini lags on my drone, I would asume, somthing is not right with my drone.
He was showing it from the screen recording on the controller
It was a screen recoding , the direct video looks fine
Updated my controller today and yep, it’s now mega slow compared to yesterday.

I always thought you should turn the RC controller first followed ny the Drone.
It's old RC hobby best practice to do so. For these products nowadays, it makes zero difference

I've noticed this longer white screen then black screen till camera feed comes on. Also seen the P mode. It's annoying the delay on boot up

My mini 4 pro w/ RC2 - at dusk the other day - it was taking really beautiful shots of the sunset (but well ahead of sundown) in the Smoky Mtns of North Carolina.
I was around 130M elevation & even though I had moved the elevation to 500M (I think it is) because we have ZERO flight traffic unless it is…US - We have the only aircraft in the entire county. So, I’m confident in going higher, but I generally stay around 140M until I’m getting more comfy.
When I got done, I hit the RTH because it alerted me to battery & sensor issues (darkness coming), and the drone was around 100 yards in front (north) of me & at that 140M elevation point.
Once I held the remote’s RTH circle ⭕️ until full, this thing took OFF & before I noticed it, it was on its way to joining the Spacelink daisy-chain. 😂
I was stunned. It happened incredibly fast.
Once I shook myself out of my shock, I regained control & brought it back in manually.
I was shaking all over. (I don’t know why, but I don’t like wasting money OR time on stuff that shouldn’t have crashed, had I allowed it to go until it fell back).
I’m not sure if you guys have seen this or what, but it is obviously going to be watched by me.
I ALWAYS do a preflight at home the night before & once more before I leave my place to see if there are any updates needed, remote battery issues, etc.
I am very rural here, obviously, and I have invested in some great Anker charging blocks (or chunks?!?! 🤷) & they are great with a thunderbolt cable.

Mine isnt like this, ive cleared the rc internal storage, and then did the update... 28 seconds from off to ready to fly for me and no black screen

Thankfully I'm still on a couple of firmware revisions back. The one that added support for Goggles 2 and enabled the vision sensor cameras (Aircraft FW 01.00.0300 and RC FW 2.00.0500). As such, my RC2 is still working very fast, boots in 20 seconds. I don't see any need t update just yet and will only update if I have no choice OR, they bring in a new feature that I think I'd like to have. Thanks for the heads up on the problems though. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and currently, everything works perfectly for me so I ain't going to fix/break it ;)
Interesting that you mention changing controllers. I also have both the Air 3 and Mini 4 pro. But every time I go to unbind the device it gives a warning about the flyaway coverage. I still haven’t had the confidence to change controllers. Could you possible make a video on how to correctly swap controllers? Thanks Ryan
You can use the same controller RC2 and fly both drones. Do you have dji care refresh for both drones?

Brought the RC2 for the Air3 and RC N2 for the mini. But was hoping to swap around without restrictions. Reason I’m concerned is I’ve seen videos about people loosing their drone and if it’s not bound to the controller or your account you don’t get the flyaway coverage.
This was an example of it happening. But it was a little while ago.

Binding is ESSENTIAL. Every time you switch drones, you have to bind the RC to the drone you will use. I forgot to do this and when my drone went into the ocean, DJI refused to send me a new drone within my active DJI Care. Lesson learned.

A few months ago I got back into these quads. Used to build my own Cheerson CX-20 was first bigger one etc. I bought a new MINI 3 last fall and a mini 4 a month ago so I am familiar. I have noticed the mini 4 seems far more jittery, like a crack addict tweaking out, seems to sit up in the air rapidly surging. The 3 never did that. It sounds like a crash waiting to happen. Anyone else notice this? Doesn't take much of a breeze to do it, its making me real nervous.

You need to register with the FAA, take the Trust test and register the drones on the FAA website for remote id

The issue started with the RC2 firmware upgrade not the drones. I did both controllers without the drones and the issues started immediately. So until they fix the RC Firmware it will continue...

Concur the observation/feeling that the RC2 is slower and that it now takes longer to start up and a few other things. Feels less responsive. Hopefully DJI will fix it soon and the bugs won't lead to any unfortunate crashes before then....

my dji mini 4 pro will not remove the log in required message no matter what I do. Restart, log on to the app log in on line .. it's driving me crazy. Height and distance severely handicapped. Software is update on the Controller. DJI forum's not helpful from what I can see.

Just for the mini 4 pro and rc2 turns on with green lights but when I went to add wifi on the controller the screen went black and now the rc2 turns on but the screen is all black can anyone help please?

7:44 why on earth do you not suggest HLG for those who don’t want to color grade but who want 10-bit out of the camera? Normal mode is 8bit, HLG is a relatively normal 10bit capture? Why do you not recommend HLG? I ask because i wonder if i am misunderstanding the above.
Two of my controllers have simply stopped charging. It flashes red instead of green. I had to send it back. Has anyone else noticed this?
My drone just crashed last week. The waypoints were Not working and kept running into trees when it was set in open spaces. Then it went in the river. That may have been my fault, but I was getting impatient, as I wasted over an hour trying and failing with the waypoints, then doing everything manually.
I wish they would finally add Return to controller again. Any tracking drone needs this feature. So handy if you have your hands full and can't update Home point.
That’s why I have the n2. I’ve gotta 15 pro max with a bigger brighter screen. AND it boots faster.
I have 2 questions if someone knows.
How to slow down zoom on camera while drone is in the air ? If my drone doesn't fly i get that smooth zoom on camera, but when i have it in the air it's zooming really fast..
And second thing, RC internal storage is 20/21.6gb, i have deleted every video, system takes11gb of space and i don't know where i have 9 gb of data to delete

My android has never dimmed on me and I use do not disturb when flying, lol. No problems with the N2 here! 😁
I did clear cache in RC2 (Profile - Settings - Storage - RC internal storage section - Clear app cache.) - after this startup time is as before firmware update. Also no black screen and wait for camera preview

Turn your controller on first , it boots up like normal no issue
I had Air 2s and AirSense would let me know about aircraft but now it for some reason DOES NOT and so I now have to be using other apps to know the air traffic.
