    Nothing fancy, just simple uboxing video where I:
    - unbox the 'Mavic 2 Pro'
    - unbox the 'Fly More Kit'
    - trying to pack all useful stuff into the Mavic 2 Shoulder Bag
    This drone itself is a new toy I am gonna use for photogrammetry.
    I decided to get Mavic 2 Pro since the camera has 1 inch sensor and it gives me the hope that Image quality will be good enough for photogrammetry reconstruction.
    If it does the job, the scanning would be easier and faster.
    Since the basic Mavic 2 Pro package contains just the drone itself with really very basic equipment I had to spend even more to get get the 'Fly More Kit' additionally.
    This way I get a bag to secure the drone during transport and 2 more batteries.
    Hope someone finds this video useful.
    Additional pieces of equipment I need for sure:
    - landing pad
    - decent energy bank since there is a lot of batteries to be recharged (drone, controller, mobile)
    Hopefully I will release more videos where I use this drone for scanning.. but first need to wait until it stops rain in here :)
    Best!
    Grzegorz Baran

      Nice, you shouldn't regreat. Its a very well made and well designed model in my opinion. Of course there are things which could be done better but there had to be something to trade of to keep this small size.

      Thanks Barny, finally I used it today.. ground was wet but cliff walls were ok for scanning. But dmt.. those seagulls.. never had to pay so much attention to them. I hope results are worth the effort and got enough data to build a nice PBR material :) and make a nice video

    Hi Sir Grzegorz, I would like to ask you a question. So those color pickers are pretty expensive (2/3 normal salary in Turkey). So I'm thinking about other solutions. I talked with one of my friend from chemistry . He told me salt might be a good white reference. He told me that I just need to keep it dry, perhaps inside s glass.what you think... I really don't want to pay for that color picker

    • @GrzegorzBaranArt
      @GrzegorzBaranArt  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Emrah, its called X-Rite Color Checker and it is expensive indeed. Its not just about the color but also reflectance level. Basically Color checker was designed for photography to mimic light response from actual exisitng surfaces like human skin, foliage, sky. This is why it is so expensive. Here you should have more info about this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ColorChecker
      The color calibration process can be way more complex to just White Balance setting as the surface albedo isnt really just a color but also reflectance/luminocity/brightness. I plan to cover more details about this subject in my incoming book and might make a video about this at some point but what I mean is that if you ever plan to use your photos/captures in more professional way, every capture without a color checker included would be wasted to some degree. Thats it. There are ways to calibrate it .. for example use a color reference list to compare your materials and tweak them to make sure they are PBR corect.
      But if you are looking for a neutral grey surface to set your White Balance like I usually do in my videos, any white surface should work. Even a simple sheet of paper if is thick enough to do not get the light/color from behind and mate enough so it doesnt reflect any light.
      I dont know about the soil and I would need to measuret, but as an idea sounds ok. Just remember that you dont want white surface to set the white balance, you need a bright grey one (around RGB200).
      Hope that helps. Cheers!

      @@GrzegorzBaranArt thank you so much sir. It's an excellent explanation.thanks again for your time. I understand what you mean and all I'm doing just figure out a cheap solution. I will work with some of my friends and try to understand basically anything can be replaced to that expansive products.

    So that's 3 batteries in all

    • @GrzegorzBaranArt
      @GrzegorzBaranArt  4 роки тому

      Yeah, thats 3 batteries in total, one from the M2P and two from Fly More Kit

  • @dvogiatzis
    @dvogiatzis 5 років тому

    The only problem with the M2P is that it doesn't have a mechanical shutter. Do you have any thoughts on how to avoid this becoming an issue?

    • @GrzegorzBaranArt
      @GrzegorzBaranArt  5 років тому

      In my opinion mechanical shutter has pros and cons. Can survive just limited amount of shots and after that it breaks and has to be replaced. So would say that less moving parts means better reliability of the camera. The shutter makes the only difference in photogrammetry when the camera is moving or when shooting really fast moving targets in still images. So far the quality I get from this camera for still images is very good. For photogrammetry the Image quality is scored by Metashape's scoring system above 0.8 which is really good as 0.5 is the minimum and 1 is the maximum. Everything below 0.5 is considered as a trash :). Usually when I capture with a DSLR camera and a tripod I get scoring around 0.85 to 0.95 but I have such versatility and freedom of framing as the drone gives me. So would say that the lowest quality image taken with a better angle is way better to a perfect one but the sh*y framing :).
