Have you used your Samsung Galaxy phone in this way? If you want the same USB-C hub I am using - this is the link ➡ geni.us/pkhYpvY (commissions earned)
I love the uGreen hub. I bought the 9 in 1 version with extra usb-c sockets. For some reason, I'm getting 4k at 24Hz instead of 30 or 60Hz on my S24 Ultra with a TV in Dex mode.... Still investigating why
Switched to Galaxy s24 Ultra - school is over so longer heavily use my MacBook. Got the S24 Ultra free from the carrier deal Sold iPhone 14 Pro Max for: $700 Sold Macbook Pro M2 13inch: $800 Sold Apple Watch for $100 Savings: $1550 I feel so relieved not having so many cables and devices since I travel 200 days out of the year for work
Love the Final Fantasy 7 background music. I recently tried Samsung Dex with my S22+ and it has made me wonder why I'd ever buy a laptop again. I could just buy a good touchscreen monitor and use Samsung Dex instead
I followed your instructions to the letter, sans keyboard and mouse, and it works perfectly as you described. Thank you so much for this video. But... I do have a question. I'm trying to listen to the audio through my bluetooth yearing aids or my bluetooth headphones. I can hear audio through the headphones but even turned up all the way it's too soft to enjoy a movie. Would you have and suggestions? I sure would appreciate it, Thanks, Ken
Got the same hub with the s23 and I'm unable to get my 4k/144hz monitor run dex at 4k 60hz. Once I activate 4k on good lock it runs at 30hz. I can either run 1080 60fps or 4k 30 fps...
What about the temperature of the device when editing videos or playing games in Dex mode? I'm really curious if there are heating problems when working in this mode.
Samsung dex looks wise is a mixture of windows and macos, the gesture, taskbar, curser and the homescreen resembles windiows 11 while the app page and alt tab resembles macos. Its a weird mixture.
the app page i think is inspired from their own oneui page, but there definitely is some macos in there, and alt tab is weird because they could use a better prewiew of the app
Excellent info. Question: If my HDMI display is video only (PC monitor, not TV) is there a way to get audio (e.g. for watching streaming movies) that's properly synced with the vid?
Your phone still has Bluetooth. If I remember correctly there is a Dex setting for where you want the audio routed. Via hdmi or phone speaker or headphones. I havnt tested latency yet
Does the phone get hot while plugged into the pass through power? I ask because in the past, I had a similar setup with a non Samsung/Dex phone. I'm hoping it's not an issue anymore. I have a S22 regular and a S24+ now..Thanks
Samsung dex limitation makes it usless, its a great feature has so much potential but samsung doesn't utilize it, they made a mistake discounting linux rather than working on releasing a stable version, the office 365 and other productivity apps that laptops are used for even on dex mode, while the interface resembles laptop it still opens mobile version of the app, samsung could easily port desktop versions of these productivity apps on dex and since samsung has galaxy store they could bring a samsung dex menu and utilize it. I feel like its about time where they take tech to the next level and make it a 3 in 1, with the foldable phone being a phone and a tablet and utilize dex mode and try brining it on par with entry or mid tier laptop.
That is true, I partially have been using DeX since 2017 with Galaxy S9 Plus; still have it to date. Only limitation I see is with the mobile version of apps. So much potential wasted even with 8 Gen 3 SoC which already exceeds M1 chipset by huge numbers.
@muditpant excalty samsung should've either collaborated with windows and imported it to Galaxy store or make neither own version of productivity app which imitates office 365 or c++. Dex is almost unless because it's just an interface nothing more than that.
@Shan_Shah we never know what's going to happen. It still has Link to Windows and can emulate Windiws 11. I still wrote papers through Microsoft suite and made changes to my budget plan, and then just adjusted them when I accessed the desktop version. I also used the phone camera as a web can when I zoom meetings for class. It can also emulate alot of game systems and can access and run flash programs. Dex still has plenty of uses.
@jordanjackson8873 Honestly, dex is just an interface. You can do emulating on any android phones, im a Samsung Knight, but not for the reason of dex. It has deep costimization and is very featured and packed and more practical. You can emulate on any android devices, and dex doesn't have use case. You can tell you to keep telling yourself that, but dex is no more than an interface.
@@ernststravoblofeld thanks man, exactly the answer I was looking for. Shame, I'd have loved to have downloaded an old game that isn't on the usual platforms
Will the hub not keep the phone charging constantly impacting the battery life of the device? Also if i have to use phone camera for zoom calls and the headphones or buds. Looking forward for earliest response
For first question, it depends on your phone. Most modern phones (like the Samsung S24 Ultra) will cut off charging when needed even when plugged in. You can even set the max battery life to 80% to extend life even further. Don't understand second question soz!
The second question is that now that i have connected say S24 ultra to a monitor thru a hub and i want to use a headphone for video call. My headphone has usb connector and if i insert it in the hdmi hub that has a usb port will that work??
@fahimshaikh7747 i don't see why it shouldn't work. . I plugged a usb camera into the hub and the phone displayed an image. So headphones should also be recognised i would think.
