I had the same thing happen to me with my eye sight and I am currently in the final stage of the pulley’s upgrade. Prior to going to MEPS my recruiter told me that eyesight was going to play an important role in whether I’ll become a PJ and tested me on my color vision; which I passed in his office. Fast forward, I go to MEPS and at the end of it they checked my paperwork & said I’m qualified for joining the military but failed my color vision. Of course I was taken back by the statement, upset and confused. But thank God for my two recruiters because they went to bat for me. My recruiters inform me that I would have to go see an optometrist and get an evaluation from them stating that there is no issue with my eyes or my color vision. So I went and did it and everything came back normal along with having perfect vision. So now I sent my results back to my recruiters and I’m scheduled to go to a near by Air Force base this week to retake just the color vision and then I’ll be swearing in sometime this month. One question I do have though is. I’m 33yrs old and would like to know what are some of your experiences when you guys had or seen with guys 30+ of age going through A&S and the pipeline? Also what would be some advice for guys of that age going into Pararescue? Thanks again, and keep up the great content.

You guys never brought up the TAPAS. From my understanding with the Air Force policy I read they allow you to retake the TAPAS after one month of initially taking the test. So if you did not score for a particular job then you can retake and "study"(come with a different approach) and qualify for let's say PJ. Now things are always changing and I never know what's real with the freaking military so I would've love if the SOR would've talked about it.

I was going to join the Army Reserves in the 1990's, and was a Licensed Practical Nurse / Surgical Technologist at a Level 1 Trauma Center at the time. Since I had a Wife and 4 Children at the time, I had completed all of the "hardship" paperwork, saying that it would not be a financial hardship for my family if I went to Bootcamp. My niece wants to join the coast guard and she's having a hard time because of a mental health waiver that's literally taking months to get back. Every time I want to get back in... I remember the little annoying bs you gotta deal with and why I got out lol. It's fun to keep an eye on what's going on though. If I could do it again, I'd choose the air force, I was in the Marine Corps and Army national guard. Should have went air force I'd of probably not gotten out.
