    Cheers from Haulover! Where is everyone watching from today? 🌎

    Barletta pontoon captain did it right. Had his passengers in the stern and executed proper trim and speed to keep his bow in an appropriate orientation to navigate the waves.

      Absolute masterclass in howto haulover to be honest. Really goes to show that, your boat matters some, your captain matters alot.

      Pontoon boats aren’t made for those kinds of waters but with a captain like that, they can be safely maneuvered through rough waters.

    Captain: Hey guys since it's kinda rough today, we're gonna be running with our bow trimmed up pretty high to avoid stuffing it into the waves.That's going to make it too bouncy to sit in the bow area until after we get out to calmer water. I need everyone to find a spot behind the console so we can do this safely.

      And I want you to put on the left jackets.
      Then stand up on the way out your knees can absorb impacts better than your backs.

      Oops… in case you’re wondering, the bow is the pointy / front part of the boat. Please go to the stern, oops, there I go again - I mean the back part of the boat.

    That inbound trihull pontoon with aggressive trim did better than I thought!
    The Hinckley Picnic job is classy af but not a great choice here. Too easy to spill your gin & tonic on your new Nantucket Reds.😄

    The Hinckley was my favorite and he did pretty good on the way out. I love the older yachts. Hinckley's captain can teach the other captains the proper way of the waves. I thought the pontoon did good coming into the inlet. I thought he rode the waves well.

    I don't know anything about piloting a boat, but seems pretty obvious nobody should be allowed to sit up front for those few hundred yards of heavy current.

    Hinckley yachts are such well built, “Downeast” boat from Maine. I love how the bow cuts through the water unlike those that plow.
    A Hinckley will set you back up to multimillions so only serious captains buy these boats. They’re smart, understated, classy well built boats.
    Just beautiful.

    The Captain is always responsible.

    • @catd11ng74
      @catd11ng74 3 місяці тому +1

      You are correct! But if the passengers doesn't have a brain of their own. Even if the captain is responsible the passengers should know for themselves a simple thing like you DO NOT ever sit in the bow in a mowing boat when there are waves like this.

    • @keithscudder7136
      @keithscudder7136 3 місяці тому

      The problem we face is that there are boat-rental places all around the inlet and stupid people think "Fun" awaits them so they sit in the Bow.

    • @catd11ng74
      @catd11ng74 3 місяці тому

      @@keithscudder7136
      So then the problem is not the captain or the passengers fault. It's the rental places who doesn't give any information. The only time you sit in the bow is when the boat is at the dock or anchored.

    • @keithscudder7136
      @keithscudder7136 3 місяці тому

      To cover their respective arses, they make boat renters sign a release form.

      @catd11ng74 3 місяці тому

      @@keithscudder7136
      They are free to do that. If they have given the right and enough information.. And it's still up to the dumbasses who sit in the bow to know what they are doing.

    I think those boats with vertical hulls look cool but seem less practical than hulls that flare out towards the top.
    The flare looks like it pushes the water away in the big waves, while the straight walls allow the water to shoot up and fall into the boat more.

    • @keithscudder7136
      @keithscudder7136 3 місяці тому

      Those Boats with the Flat sides are referred to as "wet" Boats. Not a favorite of mine. I used to make Hinckleys before I retired.
