Im from Belarus, Its my favorite car, and if you have problems with airmatic and you dont want to fix, you can convert the air suspension to normal suspension, there are special kits for w220
Based on my own experience,I think it´s an unfortunate myth that millenium MB´s build quality is poor.In fact, this model is a technical marvel, and an owner should not be too worried IF the car has been well maintenanced.Even if it´s not, they mostly can be fixed with little money,if you know what you are doing.I´ve owned S320 1999 for six years, and it´s been extremely reliable.Everything work year after year,no need to spend money on expensive fixes. That,to me,is the biggest luxury.
I`ve driven many W220. Bulletproof cars. Just had the odd electrical parts fail. Famous Air Bag sensor for example. Air Suspension failed once. Interior is quite plasticy to be fair. The E39 5 series is way better in that regard. 320cdi engine is bullet proof. On the last one i didn`t do an oil change for 60 000 miles. Didn`t skip a beat. Driving a 2004 CLK240 now. Bought it for 1400 pounds. Same issue. Air Bag sensor. 30 pound fix. Passed MOT in one go. Brilliant car.
100% agree with his comments except for the remapping. In my experience the car doesn't need it. I'm on my second S220 CDi and it's a world beater. The only reason I haven't still got my first one is that it was hit by an eight wheeler tipper but I could still drive it home.
I have just the same black S 320 CDI....It' s a car with 400000 km ... Stil runing great....engine and gearbox works fine....I paid only 2100 eur for him....and now he came to 4000 eur.... For that money, this car is very good bargain... And its faster and more relayabile then newer cars.. .....
The dudes in the pick ups and the SUV's are gonna say u think u posh. Meanwhile u just love ur car. Nevermind them let them drive their overpriced Rangers and spend their money on the latest stuff they dont respect money. Their loss.
This depends...massivly on your competence to potentially diagnose and fix stuff that goes wrong. The other things that is a variable...is how cheap you get the car...and which condition it is in :) Im a Mercedes technician..so ive done my fair share of " work" on these cars...and cars like it. I have a youtube channel featuring work on my own cars..so if you wanna have a look..you are more than welcome to check it out. I havent uploaded videos in a while due to various circumstances.Nevertheless...love your videos of your Subaru...and the other videos aswell. I hope you are doing good ,mister. Greetings from Norway ,Stefan :)
A good video but a pity he didn’t research the car a bit more beforehand. They had Airmatic suspension as standard. Cheap to fix if they fail at £150 a corner. His SL500 had the Active Body Contol which is hydropneumatic and very complicated and expensive to fix. The 5 speed transmission is absolutely fine but just needs to be set to re learn the driver’s driving style every now and again which most owners never do and is a simple 30 second push a few buttons in the right sequence job. Also, mine is the same model, is not remapped, does 0 to 60 in 8 seconds if need be which is plenty and returns up to 50 mpg. Finally, why is he trying to drive it like a sports car then complaining that it’s too big? It’s an S Class Mercedes for heaven’s sake and if you try and drive it like that you are missing the point and you look like a complete knob.
I try to review all aspects of a car to expose their strengths and weaknesses but with the channel focusing on affordable sports/performance driving I want to reveal what fun these types of cars can deliver as daily drivers.

I found my 2003 SL500 very problematic but we all have our own experiences whether good or bad

Well written and presented- bit more B-Roll and you have a winning channel here.
Excellent video. The W220 was built until 2006.

Airmatic and ABC are completely different. Airmatic is 200-300€ per corner, ABC is 2-3000€
One of the Best if you get a real mechanic to solve some little issues..
I notice the price difference is big depending where you live. I paid 10800 pounds for my w220 400cdi in Norway.

Lovely car. Lets not forget MB wanted to impress with Maybach and cut a bit of a corner with S class interior material. Not noticeable for by most.
If it fits the bill, it's still a cracking car for 3k.
It will be surely my next car
I have 2004 S65 AMG and so far it is ultimate car :)
What a car that must be 🤩

3k subs doesnt do this channel justice
Thanks that’s great to hear 👍🏻
Really nice car. Curious, does the owner use premium fuel? I quite like the CLS, that looks amazing.
I’m not sure, would certainly be worth running an additive in the fuel.
