- Hi guys! In today's video you are going to see: semi truck brake failure, semi truck maintenance, how to take care of your truck. I was at the brake service to change all of my brake discs and pads and they found a broken brake disc. I could not show you how to change disc brakes on semi truck, I wasn't allowed to film. But at least now my braking system on the semi trailer is new and I can drive in safety.
I was also changing two of my trailer tires at the tire shop, so you are going to see how to put bigger tires on a truck, how to put air in a semi truck tire and using an inflator to inflate the truck tires.
This week I was transporting potato to Poland from Romania, hope you are going to enjoy it! 🌞

Greetings from Scotland! Oh my God, Timea! You have a guardian angel watching over you! That could have shattered or locked a wheel at any time! As you said, possibly a fault when the disc was cast. I have seen extreme heat (stuck brake) which was cooled too rapidly also cause a stress crack like that. The only thing that matters is, nothing serious happened! Good practise to change brake discs as an axle pair (left & right) always, but as you said - this was a good time to change all the trailer axles because those old discs probably came from a single batch, fitted at the same time, so all potentially bad quality castings! Now you have peace of mind and know the brakes will be there when you need them! 😊

Hello Peter! 😊🌞 When I saw the broken brake disc, I was thinking the same thing! Someone was really watching out for me. Yeah, I talked to my boss, and he also suggested changing all the brake discs, it's for the best. I was also considering the possibility that it could have broken due to the extreme heat, but I always check my tires by putting my hand on them when I get out of the cabin, and I didn't notice that any single tire was overheating.
Soon, I have to change the tires on the Scania too! 😁 I can't wait to make some night truck camping videos now that I have the lighting conditions!

Respect from another engineer for changing all the brake discs. It had to be done 😕
I don't know if it's different with trucks, but I wouldn't have lowered it until the tyre was fully screwed on, and I'd tighten opposite bolts, in case it wasn't properly seated.
Do you have tread depth rules for tyres ? I guess they're different for each country too.
Hello Daytona!😊 I wouldn't have felt in safety if they wouldn't changed them all. It needed to be done. Theoretically the other tires are "keeping" the truck, so it shouldn't be a problem. But when I did it myself, I lowered it at the end of the procedure. Yeah we have, but I don't know the exact number.😊 Have a lovely week!🌞

Hello Timea good to see you have got trailer brakes replaced they were not in good condiion. Must of cracked dur to excessive heat .

Hi . That disk was cracked for a long time . Who does your inspections ? That should have been noticed in inspections long ago . I worked for Ingersoll Rand here on the states in truck maintenance and we checked the thickness of the disk regularly . If it was worn past the spec. it was replaced , before it cracked . I think drum brakes are much better for longevity . Be safe and take care , Neil

Tyre changer guys, get some cardboard and slide it under the tire before you remove the tyre.
Easier to slide.

hello princess now you have come to the serious matter of brake discs breaking. It is not due to chance or the poor quality of the metal but you often drive in critically cold conditions. This is completely normal but I think you have neglected the maintenance side of the braking system. it is necessary to purge the air capacity often before departure and carry out a maintenance check.

The Disc`s breaks when they get to thin. They can have more then 37mm, but inside rust away and get thin.
There is one big problem, the trucker brakes to mutch with the retader. the disc`s don`t get hot and dry from inside.
Most times the disc`s last one set of pad`s, if you drive the pad`s to the end.
