Just want to say, I love how you discuss queer media in your videos. It’s casual, passionate, and informative and I’m having a great time. Your video on Yellowjackets S1 is why I am obsessed with that show, so thank you. And I am now thoroughly intrigued to watch “Friends & Family Christmas” when I get the chance. All I’m saying is, you’re doing fantastic work.
Girl I just love how you narrate these videos, I had a few chuckles just listening to you. I loved the Friend & Family movie as well, recognized that May December vibe, also loved the representation I the movie. It had so many things to love. Thanks Evelyn for always making your vids so much fun to watch❤
There is a chance that Regina might be queer in this iteration, Tina was quoted in a recent interview as saying this new movie isn’t 100% the original or 100% the broadway musical, that it’s a hybrid of the two and just it’s own retelling. So got my whole ass crossed that they go there with this one 👀
It's unfortunate and gross that Portman & Moore chose to use the word "queer" to describe the behavior of their characters... one who is a pedophile and the other method acting to play her. 😮💨😒😑🤮 Great video, fantastic commentary as always, Evelyn 🫡💝✨️
Full disclosure: May December is not gay in any way, and in fact it's Charles Melton that is the emotional center and gives the best performance. I couldn't stand either woman's character either, so it was a real bummer of a watch all around.
Here's to Kristen Stewart and Reneé Rapp and to all the other inherently queer girlies feeding us aka me. Don't care what anyone thinks about Kristen's new movie because I'm watching it. I love supporting queer content so there's that ❤
...There's a Vietnamese film called "Scandal 2" (it's the second in an anthology series) which is AMAZING. If you like crazy lesbian films, you'll love it.
Hey nerd-your narration is great. No doubt May December is well acted but even the show with Kate Mara with the same topic was enough for me. Winn be watching. Yay Harlem being renewed!!!
I was also super annoyed and disappointed bt May December. I went into it knowing pretty much nothing ( nothing about the background real life story it was based on) all I knew was that Moore & Portman were in a movie together and people were talking about it being maybe gaybe. So of course the reality of that movie was a bit of a shock to me. The best thing I can say about it is that Joe's actor was amazing and deserves all the praise for his performance
@@thenandnowstudio May December is not gay no. There is some weird tension between Portman & Moore's characters, and Portman's character is imitating Moore's throughout the course of the film. The film is also directed by Todd Hayes, the director of Carol. But there is no specific clear queer content. There is a hetero sex scene though.
Using that line of “whole case of Issa Rae champagne”. I liked friends and family made me pine for a gf since the last one ghosted me after years of dating but no I’m not bitter….
If you haven't yet, I wanna recommend checking "Anatomy of a fall" I first decided to check it cause I heard so many positive things about, and indeed it turned out to be such a good movie + I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had some queer elements.
friends and family was cute, there was a point where I cringed. If you watched it, I'm sure you know what I'm on about lol but I really enjoyed it. I think it should have been longer though
I love your reviews and awhile back I watch Deadly Desires at a friend's house. It was so bad which made it so good. It was a shame how fine Melody was but also bat shit crazy. You was spot on your review of this movie. I would love if you did some review of some of the gl dramas from Korea, Thailand etc. The Gap series , Show Me Love, Lucky My Love and my favorite Love senior are a few that has come out this year. There are several coming out next year. I'm curious what you think about them. Keep up the excellent reviews you do on your videos.
I wish that I loved "Love Senior" as much as you do; I'm still muddling through Ep 5. Don't get me wrong, it's good AFA GLs go, but it's not good enough to break my addiction to Freen & Becky in GAP. I am literally praying for a GL series to come along w/ 2 women who have FBs over-the-top chemistry in GAP. They just really knew how to lay the lips on each other in that show, and ever since I watched GAP, I have been bored by everything else that I've tried to get interested in; that is no way to live. ☹️💤
@@elizabethmorgan293 I appreciate you answering my comment. I’m the exact opposite, I think the Gap was okay but it was not my favorite. The romantic scenes were fantastic but the two things that irritated me was Sam wearing all that damn pink🤣 and she took too much shit from Mon. I kept saying to myself I would be in jail if Mon was my woman. As far Love, senior, I really like this show. The only thing about it that is ridiculous to me is that you swear these two chicks damn near got the whole damn campus wanting them. Before I shut up, I was wondering have you seen ‘Couple of Mirrors’ which I think is a chinese series. It has let say lesbian tendencies but the two women chemistry is off the chain. Can’t wait for your next video to drop.
@@MsBiggirl50 Hon, for starters, you have the characters reversed in GAP. In the beginning, Mon was at the mercy of Sam. And the choice of pink was intentional to convey the fact that Mon was an innocent, baby girl- a baby bunny, actually- and Sam was the haute couture leopard who was going to eat her alive. I hate pink myself. I didn't commit to watching the show until Sam walked into the office in her YSL heels and got up in Mon's face to show her who was boss. My favorite kind of woman: A sharp-dressed bitch! I immediately started crushing on Sam. 😍! As for Mon, I thought that she was cute, but not my type. Too nice- and Sam was going to chew her up & spit her out. As the story progressed, I got addicted to their sexual chemistry, which was beyond anything that I had ever seen before, and at my age, I've seen just about everything. And it wasn't the fact that they kissed so convincingly, it was their eye contact that blew my mind; you can fake great kissing scenes, but not the kind of eye contact that makes kissing almost pornographic. And they did that. I could write a dissertation about why theatrically GAP is such a cut above all other GL series that I have watched (& can't get interested in bc they can't compete w/ GAP, IMO). As an undergrad I took a lot acting and screen/stage writing courses bc I minored in drama, and it struck me halfway through the series that Mon was in charge, had always been in charge, that she had been kind of stalking Sam as a role model since she was a kid, but once they got involved, she started transforming Sam into someone more like her. Which is why Sam wore pink when they got married: Sam got eaten alive by the baby bunny, lol. In it's weird way, GAP was pretty intellectual for a GL dramedy. For ex, the sex scene in Ep 8 was perfect for two newbies, both of whom were apparently virgins w/ regard to both men & women and were kind of muddling through their first sexual experience w/ each other: Very vanilla, very low key and yet totally erotic as only two hot women can be w/ each other. By ep 10, Mon was on top and was apparently a quick study sexually. (In the book, they had much more sex than indicated by the series, FWIW). Well, I've droned on long enough. More than anything, I just wanted you to understand why pink was such a ubiquitous color in GAP: It reflected Sam's metamorphosis from a cold, lonely woman into a woman madly in love w/ another woman. As far as a color that symbolizes the feminine , what is better than pink?
As usual Thanks Eve, if it helps i tend to fall for a well cut trailer as well and now days there is slight tendancy to spin the marketing and ending up being maost Gino. (but i am an easy shipper so it uis easy to push me the way i lean). What you said about Warrior nun unfortunatly does makes a lots of sense.
For Portman I think the "inherent queerness" wasn't between the two women, I think she was talking about the p*do. It reminded me how p*dos tried to integrate themselves in queer manifestations saying like "hey gays we have the same struggle, same fight because we all just wanna love in peace"
While it would be the best pairing since peanut butter and jelly, Lupita and Janelle will probably not become a true thing, because Janelle is already spoken for -- two times over. I do think that they have an attraction and real love for one another; but realistically, they seem to have a lot on their plates. And one of those things on Janelle's end is that she's always had other partners. Not sure, if that fully matters or not to Lupita, but it would probably be a bit challenging to not only balance both of their demanding and high-profile careers, but also to be the third partner in Janelle's life.
Love your videos. You're always so funny. Pain and Gain was not directed by Rose Glass. It's a Michael Bay movie and, as such, is exactly the flaming bag of dogshit you would assume it is. Happy Holidays.
Knew about Renee and her booty for a while. I saw a comment online when Leighton and Tatum were kissing in SLoCG, someone said they way they could tell who was who was to look for the girl with the fattie for Leighton. Cant wait to see if you do the lesbian Christmas movie because I only saw a few of them. Saw It's a Wonderful Knife on your recommendation and enjoyed it so I;m going to check out Friends and Family Christmas.
Tell me how I immediately recognized one of the leading ladies from one of the chrismas movies as being the bassist from School of Rock

There is a number of queer people in the cast right? So some characters being queer as well doesn't seem too farfetched.
Did y’all see Renèe and Auli’i chemistry?? I’m excited!

I just love Renée Rapp and I'm all for it 🤣
I love these more unscripted review videos! Your pregnant pauses crack me up.
"That has nothing to do with anything"
I think it does, Sis. I think it has everything to with me watching it. 👀👀
😂
Love your commentaries.❤ The lead in Deadly Desires also played a queer role in the Kandi Burruss film The Pass!!
I agree with you about May December. Seriously, still don't understand why it is in a queer category on some websites.

What is the frequency of the episode of this series??? I am actually enjoying this much more than I expected, can't wait for next ep

Ok I'm 10 mins in to watching Deadly Desire and I see what you mean 😂. I'm thinking about stopping it so I can pick up some wine and continue
