I'm reminded of Elizabeth Olsen casually saying "I don't have a husband or a wife" and then on another occasion correcting a co-star during an interview for assuming that the person she was dating was a "him" by saying "or her". Of course I'm glad thing are so much more chill now, at least for most celebrities, but there really was something so beautiful about that 2011-2014 era, when so many celebrities were finally able to have these big coming out moments after years of needing to hide, and often being told that their careers would be over if they ever came out publicly.
Even without the deleted scene, it was obvious to me that Valkyrie and Carol hooked up at least once. It’s breadcrumb representation, but I was delighted when Valkyrie showed up.
Yeah, they just not spelled it out so they can show this film in homophobic countries, but it was so clear that they implied an affair between Valkyrie and Carol that I was wondering whether I had missed anything in a previous Marvel film or TV show. 🙂 As for "Warrior Nun" - I hadn't heard the news about apparently ditching the cast and Netflix story. That is an awful idea; even if they go back to the original comic (which did not look too promising from the few screenshots Evelyn showed), the fandom would expect a continuation of the story they got hooked on. I liked "Warrior Nun" - even though the first season was all over the place (the second was better) - but I wasn't a diehard fan, so I probably will skip on the "reboot" unless I hear great things about it - if it ever comes out.
Valkyrie is my favorite MCU character so when she showed up I was so happy bcs I didn't see the trailer so I was shocked. And then them being kinda flirty and warm towards each other made me wanna scream. I hope they made them a couple in MCU's future projects

IE let the countries in question do the censoring or release a version for that market. The Valerie Ruth romance in V for vendetta was removed from the movie in certain countries but i am more than happy that it was in the version.
Well, it is the 21st century and this was a feeble attempt at best and the continuation of the new Disney patented trope if “killing the gay before it is onscreen”. I am the first one to jump to defence of stuff like "legend of Kora" because at the time and who produced it for. It was probably as much as they could get away with. But that is kind of 3 times in a row. Being the lesbian lover of a female protagonist, is on par of being the wife or girlfriend of Jean Claude Van Dam or Steven Segal in their respective productions but with less screen time. for Marvel this is kind of the second time they pull that stunt, there was Maria and Carol in the first instalment (which incidentally they kind of poop all over in the latest movie). And in “Love and Thunder” they killed Valkyrie wife/girlfriend before the movie started.
Off to watch Dads and It’s a Wonderful Knife! I love a good campy horror lol, especially if there’s some actual gay in it. Also, I would still recommend Marvels if anyone’s on the fence. It’s fun, super short (for Marvel movies), and has some strong ‘adopted gay mommy issues’ vibes between Monica and Carol. Also there’s an incredibly queer planet where everyone sings 🤷 js

The typical wave of cloyingly sweet, cishet nonsense the holidays bring is borderline nauseating to me at this point.
I receicently downgraded out Direct TV, so not sure if we have The Hallmark Channel anymore. Since my mom lost her sight, I have living with her and when she wasn't watching FAKE News (to piss me off) she was watching Hallmark, where every movie, was the same...Except a couple of movies when gay chrarecters (which did NOT get the same play that other films did...I swear they play the same 3 movies, over and over, for a week...Anyway, she passed, so I might have to hit up someone who still had Hallmark. I'm surprised my daughter did not say anything about the Warrior Nun, she loved that show. I jsut saw that Station 19 is ending, so more lesbians leaving TV. The past couple of years we have lost SO MANY female queer charecters, and it does not look like we will get new charectors any time soon. This breaks my heart. I grew up with NONE, unless you count the women wearing a flannel shirt, at a truck stop, that a bad joke was made about her...Same with the man who works at the local florist. When my daughter was drowing up, she had DOZENS of charecters to watch, from early days, watching Degrassi, to watching Rosie's Talk show, then Ellen...then the BIG ONE, with my fav network couple, Callie and Arizona. She came out to me by telling me how she wants a relationship like their's. Took me a second, I thought she wanted to marry a doctor and have a baby...then it hit me. I have great nieces and nephews who need LGBTQ+ representation for so many reasons, what if they end up belonging in out "community"...AND it would be nice for them to see charecters like Auntie Lisa and cousin Kaitlin. Already waiting for my youngest great nieces to get a little older so we can watch The Mitchells vs The Machines. (BTW, still not word about League, last post from Will Graham, when the fuckers canned it, and blamed the strike, that they were "shopping" it...Even if we don't get more, It will ALWAYS be one of the best ,if not the best, series with queer women. Looking forward to watching Dads, I have a couple friends with trans kids. One story is great, one, the dad was a dick to start with, and refused to call his son by his name.

You don’t have to verbally come out and make a statement- but do you censor your behavior? Try to hide when you’re dating? Talk about your GF openly? If you’re open enough with your behavior then there’s no need to come out, and that’s fine. But to say straight people don’t have to come out is disingenuous - they don’t have to, because they don’t hide in the first place.

Like, people can just be without having to come out. Being gay or bi or pan is more mainstream now than it was in the 90s or early 00s. It kinda makes sense to not make a biggie about coming out. I think it's a good thing, in a way. Like, there's nothing "spectacular" about queerness, the same way being hetero is blasé. Also, "Warrior Nun" is done. Been saying this since 1632. Tsk-tsk.

Did you see Billie Ellish's recent IG post, that she made 2 hours ago? She pretty much flat out said she likes guys and girls. For a minute I actually thought she was straight glad she isn't. But now that I think about it, I think most people actually like both but it is just easier for them to ignore that side of their attraction and pretend that they are straight due to society's pressure.

Being gay or bi or pan is more mainstream now than it was in the 90s or early 00s. It kinda makes sense to not make a biggie about coming out. I think it's a good thing, in a way. Like, there's nothing "spectacular" about queerness, the same way being hetero is blasé.

hello Eve thanks, I have the feeling that coming out might be even harder for people in the spotlight that was before , image is so much proceced, filtered and managed that it looks like message from politictains than anything else. For Marvel and Dysney well they are kind of a crocodile or all mouth and no troussers as the english colloquialism goes. they will give us lip services because that does not affect the bottom line. I suspect that i should be content don't do queer coding anymore.

Did you see Billie Ellish's recent IG post, that she made 2 hours ago? She pretty much flat out said she likes guys and girls. For a minute I actually thought she was straight glad she isn't. But now that I think about it, I think most people actually like both but it is just easier for them to ignore that side of their attraction and pretend that they are straight due to society's pressure.
Eilish continued, “But I saw the article, and I was like, ‘Oh I guess I came out today.’ OK cool. It’s exciting to me because I guess people didn’t know, but it’s cool that they know.” She added: “I am for the girls.”
