That coil is what I see in my nightmares I had a model y that used that coil and it cost a heck of a lot replace, nice job on bringing it back to life!
Yeah I think you are right! And I have to disagree, every time I try and run Champion D16's new or old these old Briggs engines run like shit. Every time I swap a champion out for an autolite they run great. I blame the plugs LOL. Thanks for Watching Steve!
I believe that I gapped them to the correct settings, I'm usually pretty good about that stuff but I also did this engine so long ago I dont entirely remember so Ill probably double check it. Thanks for Watching!
Thanks for putting the vid up. I think I saw a crank started B&S of this model in a dairy farmer's shed here in New Zealand around mid '80s that had been the emergency engine to drive the milking machine vacuum pump so the cows could be milked if the electricity went out... As with all farmers it was in a dry shed stored "just in case it might be useful for something in the future..." @@colin_5839
Yeah I also thought it sounded like valves, however, I set the lash to the correct specs during reassembly! Doesn't seem to be anything major though. Thanks for Watching!
@@colin_5839 I have a 1946 Briggs ZZP that's mounted to a generator that I'm currently messing around with. I noticed with the valve cover off and by turning the engine over by hand the valves rotate. My guess for leaded gas? All I know these ole relics hate this California gas. I had to mix a tad of diesel for mine to run smooth. Don't know if this lead substitute works. If not I'll be hitting up a buddy that works at a private airport for some leaded av gas. And mix it half and half. Either way sounds bitching. Gotta love that Briggs lope.
Dziękuję! To zdecydowanie fajnie działający silnik!
I love how smoothly those run, and that "THUMP" from the exhaust.
Me too! Thanks for Watching!
Great running engine!👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sure is! Thanks for Watching!
It sounds great.... thats kinda what they sound like. I'v owned a couple, both had valve train noise.
Yeah that's kinda what I have learned recently lol. Thanks for Watching!

Hahaha! Yeah they are good when they are in good shape but when they go bad it isn't cheap to get them rewound! Thanks for Watching!
Nice looking engine!
Thanks!
Nice job Colin , hope you had a good Christmas break and a good New Years
Thanks Kevin! It was definitely a good and much needed break! Thanks for Watching!
I have had a ZZ since I was a kid. Mine has the crank start. Been a long time since I have run it. Nice job getting it going.
Very cool! You should do a revival video on it and get it going again! Thanks for Watching!
that was an oil pump that it used to drive. nothing wrong with champion plugs, no plug lasts forever!

Awesome job! Looks and sounds great! 👌
Thanks Eric!
@@colin_5839 You're welcome!
very nice job - interesting engine
Thanks! They are neat! Thanks for Watching!
Good video👍🏻 And that’s a nice Complete Engine! I would just run it. That valve noise will probably work itself out.
Thanks Bono! Yeah it was a good find for sure! I think the noise will work itself out too... Thanks for Watching!
Thanks for not junking it out
Of course! I hate to see these pieces of history get scrapped! Thanks for Watching!
Valve clearances need to be set properly??
intake .021 to .019
exhaust .019 to .017.

Had a Model ZZ on a 1941 Speedex garden tractor that we used for farm work.
Nice! They're good engines! Thanks for Watching!
I've got 2 of those engines and both of them make that valve noise
Yeah I've heard that's pretty normal apparently lol. Thanks for Watching!
Ticking sounds like valve lash. At least they made them adjustable on them.

Very interesting! Might have to experiment with that a bit!
