- www.rosemarysremedies.com Herbalist Rosemary Gladstar shares how to make Fire Cider, a cold and flu remedy that she formulated and shared with the world. This is a perfect remedy for someone who needs a fiery kick to his or her immune system. A blend of spicy and sweet flavors were combined to enhance your circulatory and digestive system. Will come in handy for those cold months when you're prone to sinus infections, or when you feel cold coming on. When you try this warming concoction, you won't want to go without it! Rosemary formulated this remedy and was the first to call it fire cider, decades ago. Shire City Herbals has unethically trademarked the name and claim it was all their idea. So, why buy it when you can inexpensively make your own fire cider? Special thanks to Rosemary for sharing amazing recipes like this with the herbal community for all to enjoy.

@@sparksessence you’re welcome! I wanted the recipe (quicker than watching the whole thing) and figured I wouldn’t be the only one. :)
Thank you for this ! 😊
@@skubytube totally! Happy harvest season!
not hot enough. that's " cider" not FIRE cider.
I've used Fire Cider for 2 years. It is amazing. I make a gallon at a time and keep it in the fridge It keeps just fine for a year. Shake it before pouring. I add fresh turmeric to mine. If you add fresh turmeric then you have to add peppercorns to activate the turmeric. I use this instead of getting
a flu shot. I buy the smallest bathroom paper cups and fill it half full. During winter I take it on the average of about 5 times a week. In the warmer weather I take it about 2 to 3 times a week unless I’m feeling more aches and pains then I take it more often. When I take it faithfully it greatly reduces aches and pains from inflammation. I put everything in the food processor a little
bit at a time until everything is finely ground. Then I add the cider vinegar and the fresh squeezed lemon and orange juices. Doing it finely chopped in the food processor makes the job a lot faster and a lot less smelly. Also when the ingredients are finely ground it will ferment quicker and be ready to use sooner. Strain it and store in glass containers with non-metal caps (I use the bottles the vinegar came in).
Why do you have to use peppercorns to activate the turmeric? Just regular peppercorns?
DesiAndTodd, pepper helps with absorption of turmeric.
@Brand * ur an idiot
@Brand * tons of modern medicinal drugs are highly synthesized components extracted from plants, they just amplify it. we in the west have just succumbed to big Pharma's poison campaign. plant medicine is not like western pills but does have healing properties and can heal and/or prevent illness if used properly. people don't do it out of ignorance, like you. the American diet is wendy's, mcDonalds, papa johns, why do people put such junk in their body, and thats the masses? either they don't care, are lazy, or have been mentally conditioned by family habits and tv to think that is normal. Theres a'lot of things that are good and ignored by mainstream. people like you that form baseless assumptions are the problem.
@@DesiAndTodd powdered black pepper or pepper corns
I found this glorious lady about 4 years ago, and even now with this epidemic my family Is healthy as ever. From my mother 63 to my daughter of 4 years old take it. We love it and I think everyone should make it and take it you can literally feel it coarse through your body
Hi Richard. I made some before the virus outbreak. How do you take it? I find it to he very strong. Should I dilute it with water? Thanks
@@dorothymatthews6690 Don't taken it with water. The effect Will be less
@@dorothymatthews6690 It depends how you're using it. You can stir a teaspoon/tablespoon into savoury dishes or if you're drinking it as a tonic you can can add water. I love it in salad dressings and couscous dishes.
@@dorothymatthews6690 You can absolutely dilute it with water if it feels too strong. The best remedy is one you actually take, and fire cider is food as medicine- drink it, add to soups and salads, mix into a hot toddy... You can also add more honey to make it more palatable.
@@dorothymatthews6690
I sometimes put mine in hot apple cider, if I want a hot drink, and it is delicious.
or cold cider, or even with kombucha. I add it to salad dressings and stir fry.
You don't want to dilute the original container with water, but you can add it to water.
1 part: horseradish, garlic, onion, 1/2 part ginger, 1/4 tsp cayenne, ACV . Chop up, add vinegar, leave for 4-6 weeks. Strain, add honey
@Iryna Boehland 14 teaspoons of cayenne? LOL I think you meant to type 1/4 tsp cayenne.
@@HTNPSullivan - Thanks! This would be deadly! Lol
Do you refrigerate it after or is it shelf stable?
@@mariedovinstumphauzerfntp - I never do (it is shelf stable), but why not. My husband likes it cold.
I have been making this for 3 years now and got the recipe online from a nurse. The only difference is I use jalapeno peppers instead of cayenne pepper. Thank you Rosemary! This recipe is all over the internet. It is very important to me to always have a batch on hand.
What a wise, beautiful woman! Thank you for sharing this! 🙏
My nan (and I too, since I learned from her 😊) always put an onion, sliced in half, on the bedside table when having clogged sinuses. Clears up really good!!
do nebulizer h202 @ 3% in sinus to kill the fungus and worms causing your sinus " infection".
Yes - garlic can change to a green or bluish color when soaked in vinegar.
Thank you for sharing this. My family has been using the same Remedy that has been passed down and used for over 400 years
I love fire Cider and all the ingredients are available in my garden. I would like to share that live in Ecuador and have learned that sometimes the simplest preps work! I had a lingering bronchial cough - sometimes better, sometimes worse - and had been on antibiotics. My LL got fed up with my horrid cough and forced her own elixir on me: about 1/4 jar of chopped garlic soaked in the local hooch to 3/4 full. wow. that was powerful. i think it made the germs happy and they just had a blissful death. LOL Another is plantain - the herb (NOT a weed). A local herbalist-massage therapist has an ironing board and iron in her treatment room. for my leg injury she did a deep massage then she gathered fresh plantain, ironed the leaves, applied them to my swollen calf and wrapped in bandages. wonderful remedy. Blessings

Anymore there are so many versions of this that Rosemary’s tutorial, even though now it’s 10 years old, is a thrill. This is the first time I’ve “seen” her “live,” but I’ve certainly seen her name dropped a lot in the herbal communities. Anymore I do lean towards the hyper tense side of things but still think this basic version of Fire Cider will be good for me and for others in my personal sphere. I’m so glad this video with Rosemary came across my stream.
Hyper tense? What does that mean?
I make what I consider a 'ginormous' batch of this every year so that I can share it with my family. Some of them just use it as a rescue remedy when they feel illness coming and some of them really love the taste so much that they use it as a cocktail base. Hubby and I just use it straight-up after it has been strained and had local honey added for our health during the winter. I've come back to this video of yours again and again and directed many people to watch it when they have questions about it too. Thank you for this precious resource.
Same here...I was Blessed to meet Rosemary through my 1st herbal mentor/Teacher,Jean Argus Jean's Greens...miss you, Hummingbird big Love!)and this is the video I send everyone to also.I wasn't able to get my hands on good horseradish root this Winter and right now am fighting some nasty virus, long story...anyhow I'm cooling elderberry syrup and will make garlic/onion honey too...Green Blessings....I sure miss the fire cider on my salad greens too!
Thank you Rosemany for this recipe. It's made, in my dark, cool closet and will be ready for my winter. I know live in Massachusetts, but like you was brought up in a very remote area of B.C. I was so lucky because my mother was a nurse who didn't believe in pharmaceutical remedies, but natural herbs and weeds. She taught us how to survive in the wilderness, if on our daily adventures, we got lost. I'm now attempting to relearn what she taught us and really enjoying the process. Thank you and keep doing your wonderful work.
That's so cool! I used to live in Boston. I wish I had memories like that!
@@zerowastecalifornia Although your memories are different than mine, they are precious all the same and they are YOUR memories.
Now would be the best time to do that!
I strongly believe in homeopathic and herbal medicine almost strictly. I had bacterial and fungal infection in my lungs lungs for 9 months. I had staph infection in my throat and sinuses for 8 months. Doctors kept refusing to give me antibiotics because I have liver disease, so my friend sent me a bottle of fire Cider tonic, told me to start by taking two tablespoons to the first day, increase it to for the second day, and then going to increase it to five until it's all gone. My infection was gone in 5 days.
my girl friend who is pushing 90 told me the other day how her mom used to have a pan of onions and sugar on the back of the stove for cough syrup. they couldnt afford honey :-)
haha your girlfriend
It's onions and honey
There's actually a native American recipe my friend made for me years ago with onions and yes, sugar. It knocked out my cold pretty quickly in about twenty four hours.
@@karenkonczyk260 it's onions & sugar actually.
Is the sugar and onions cooked? Can I use honey because, I have macular degeneration and sugar is bad.
These videos are so wonderful. She is so well spoken. Warm and professional but relatable and truthful. Love her recall of history and her experiences.
I love your storytelling personality in combination with such a passion for health !!
Right?! I adore that.
Rosemary lets it sit out but I would put it in the fridge after it's finished macerating.
I just found your site! Thank you for what you do! I will make this ASAP!
I love her! I can't wait to make this! What a wonderful tonic and remedy.

This was cool. Thanx for the great remedy and fun video.
Thank you Rosemary for passing the remedy to another generation!
May you live a long life.

Thanks for this really great information! Blessings.
You are remarkable! What a wealth of knowledge you are and a fantastic teacher. I've been studying plant and floral life remedies just for the last year. I often start to feel over-whelmed by the amount of information and that I'll never learn it all. But you have such a fun and calm nature in the way you teach that it is really calming yet encouraging. Thank You much!
Thanks. I going to use this right away!
This recipe reminds me of the potions my mom used to make. What a beautiful and nostalgic way to stay healthy.
What a treat to find you here, Rosemary! (Sylvia from Vancouver Island and decades ago) I'll check out your website. I love your radiance :-)
Awesome. Wish I had some right now.
This is very interesting I'd like to try that and even learn how to grow my own herbs.
Thank you Rosemary. I have a couple of your books, and I love them.

Sincere thanks for these videos! I have both of your books mentioned in the onion honey syrup video. They're both a resource I use frequently.

Thank you Rosemary this is a very inspiring video and thank you for the bit at the end about observing the body's energetic response when you take something.
Very interesting thank you. Loving your books 🙏
I love your videos you are so inspiring. I also love your kitchen. As i have been learning, I have been gradually transforming my own kitchen to meet our needs. I hope to one day soon have it all together.
Thank you for the video & recipe. I will be making fire cider this week for the fall!
Beautiful lady. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Her voice sounds so young!
I have to say this stuff works wonderfully! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Rosemary, I too was wondering where in the way back in BC did you live? I live in the Crescent Valley in Upper Passmore, near Winlaw, BC, which is 45 minutes from Nelson... It is so great to live off the land and to learn how to heal ourselves with natural remedies! Be well!
I also add Cold Pressed Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil to my mix.. it then tastes like a delicious salad dressing drink which I can drink all day.
oh man, i'm definitely of the "warmer" type constitution!
I'm going to be moving from a micro-studio in the city to a bigger apartment in the burbs this summer which will give me more room to branch out and try new concoctions (currently i just make kombucha) - and this is definitely going to be one of them! Thanks for the recipe!
Very well done , great video .
Thank you so much for your recipe, I love your video..
Thanks for this! I make my own elderberry syrup every year but I keep seeing this and I think my body really needs it
Don't know how old you are Rosemary but you look great and are a great advertisement for your products (and vegetarian diet, what about B12?), great video, will be making fire cider now at home, great book too on medicinal herbs, we need more people like you in the world

This woman is incredible, I love her knowledgeable and soft voice x
Thank you Rosemary for sharing this excellent cold and flu remedy! I have been purchasing something similar at the store and paying a pretty penny for it! It's always better homemade. Blessings!
Ty Rosemary. We truly love this recipe. I have been a fan for a few years now. I have also made your onion and honey mixture for cough/ sore throat. I have also bought your book. I made your facial cream and gave jars of it away for Christmas a couple of years ago.
Love you. Thank you so much.

Love your Moon necklace!!
Rosemary, thank you for this instructional. I will be making it tomorrow using some of my home grown garlic.
Thank you for this.. herbalism for All. "Trademark"... like trademarking peppermint tea or something.. It is and should be available to all! Had the joy of hearing Rosemary's talks and teaching in person several times, such a lovely spirit and so helpful and knowledgeable. A gifted teacher!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I recently got your book, Medicinal Herbs. A Beginner's Guide. I am looking forward to learning more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. May God Bless you with Himself!
Making this today :) thank you ❤️
The video is nice and her sweet and nurturing nature apparent. With all the stories aside, could simply the receipe be posted please. thank you!
I just found out about you. I see someone recommended your book from Amazon which I'm going to order thank you for sharing.
First time watching you. Love it!
Excellent recipe I'm going to try it this winter I love garlic and onion and horse radish...sounds like a great cold remedies / immune system booster!
Wonderful Rosemary, thank you for all you do. You personally have inspired me to finally act upon an inherent lifelong yearning to work with plants and start really looking at the medicinal gift that herbs are. I've planted a wonderful Medic garden which I keep adding to as I discover more amazing species, so now that these lovely plants are growing, my knowledge needs to keep apace with them. Aside from tinkering as a young person with miniature alcohol bottles and whatever plants I felt were useful from the garden, this Fire Cider recipe isthe first real remedy I am making. Thank you for yor generous sharing, your clear instruction, your deep love of the plant kingdom, and your heartfelt enthusiasm. I can't help but get more excited by the minute! :) 🌹🌻❤️🌻🌹
Te quiero mucho, Romerita! I love you so much, Rosemary! You're amazing. This actually reminds me of a Nicaraguan pickled chile, onion and garlic condiment called chilero. Always on the tabletops of any kitchen or eatery in Nicaragua. Used to add spice but I'm sure it helps our immunity as well.
I am from Jamaica, love your videos
Thank you we have a groups on Facebook and we were chatting about this today:)
I am not generally a fan of a lot of extra verbiage in videos like this but I really did enjoy your presentation. I already have 2 of your books and it was a pleasure to find you on UA-cam! Thank you1
Rosemary Gladstar is adorable!
I live you and the recipe. I’ve been doing it for a year now. Thank you. Also, I love the music. What’s the name of the song?? ❤️🌱
I have your books. I love them. It started me out on my herbal journey. Although ive only done this a couple of years, without your book id have made many more mistakes. Even today I go back to the beginners book you wrote. I bought one for my 17 yr old grand daughter and shes very excited about learning how to make tinctures, salves, syrups , teas etc. Thank you so much. 😊
Thank you so much for this recipe! I was wondering If I can add marigold flowers?
Just finished making my second half gallon. Great potion, really clears the sinuses!
I love fire cider. I have never put horseradish in it but I have tons growing in my yard. I am going to try it. My first recipe I followed the Ball canning. It was good. I then made a second batch and replaced the jalapeno with a red hot pepper. I do not care for it that spicy unless I have congestion and cannot taste. I don't like it diluted in teas but I like it straight; I mix mine 50/50 honey and fire cider which is very sweet; the honey is good for people that hate herbal tastes or getting used to a fire cider flavor.
Going to try it, this lady is wonderful 😊
This is such an epic looking recipe. I am thrilled to see Rosemary Gladstar make this, and hear all that she has to say about it. Thank you for this video! All I need is horseradish, and I am going to try this!
Thanks for the infos and videos
AWESOME video bless you
i have just found your fantastic informative site!!!!! Wonderful , do you have a BOOK? In these times I think every home should have a natural medicinal bible . With your very informative reasons and uses of each tincture, you have a new huge fan from Scotland.
Wonderful remedie😍
Thanks for a great informative video , if it is for winter how can it be adjusted for summer?
I have seen this recipe with hot peppers(jalapeño), and turmeric as well. We know that turmeric has amazing healing capabilities and is a strong anti inflammatory. What great knowledge you have. Would love to hang out with you in your kitchen and garden to soak up some of your wisdom. Thank you for sharing!
What an amazing woman
