not renewing this show was a crime. I can't believe Netflix wasted this opportunity. Especially since alot of the songs had Emmy Nominations

netflix hasn't renewed them for a season 2 yet. istg if they dont imma be so so mad cause this is soo good. they got 7 daytime emmy awards nominations! won 2 mtv awards. idk how its not renewed yet! we've been waiting since sept 2020. i hope it gets renewed soon.
The only reason I think it might be cancelled is cuz Netflix created it to be a children’s show so they would have more for that audience but then an older audience liked it which just wasn’t really what they intended it for. I really hope they keep it tho cuz it does have so many fans even if they are older

I think one thing that is possible is that they are waiting for restrictions to be more lifted around the world to announce season 2 AND a tour at the same time, so they can make money off of it

Madison was 14 when she auditioned, filmed when she was 15. She will be turning 17 on June 25th. The idea was to run a couple of seasons and then tour as Julie and the Phantoms. This is an international success. Covid hits so much is in the air. The 4 still want to tour
They’re probs waiting for her to turn 18 so Julie and luke can have a romance plot line

@@kaitlynbuenzow9014 she’s 17 and that’s usually the age of consent and since it hasn’t been renewed they could start a romance plot and she’ll probably be 18 by the time it starts.
What if they are waiting until she turns 18 to officially renew it so we can actually have her and Luke be in a relationship on the TV show because They couldn’t because of how young she was and how old he is but now she’s 18 so they might try to go that direction now

Idk I kinda disagree? I think Julie had a lot of character development, Luke had a little (but most of his stuff was kinda backstory rather than progress if that makes sense), reggie had literally nothing which is sad, Alex had some with Willie teaching him to loosen up and such but not that much, and Willie had quite a bit with the whole standing up to Caleb thing

I come from 2024, and there's still no season 2, but there's a hype resurgence, so hopefully, it comes back.
I personally enjoy JATP over HSMTMTS just because I feel like it has more depth do it and I feel the music is better

i connect to the characters way more in JATP and the original songs are amazing while i feel like HSMTMTS og songs aren't as good (personally). I also just think JATP has a more talented cast that gets recognition (even owen and jeremy get to shine vocally) versus HSMTMTS who mainly joshua and olivia get recognition. Plus, HSMTMTS focuses too much on the relationships, i barely even care about olivia's character and a lot of side characters are annoying, the humor is awkward, while I literally care about all the characters in JATP.

me too that's why I ask myself: julie says she and her mum were listening a lot to the songs of Trevor Wilson, how is possible that her mum never mentioned to julie that she knew him personally because she saw him performed live with the band sunset curve (he even tried to hit on her!!)???. And both their girls were friends when they were kids, and she didn't know it was bobby all along? just saying! anyone else have think about this? anyone has a theory or an answer?
@@barrufetalila my assumption is that obviously the boys died and bobby changed his name, so she didn't recognize him (i mean, he was a teenager before and sunset curve didnt last long...) and her mom probably adored trevor wilson cause luke wrote the songs so it makes sense that she liked his music too.

When he was talking about how he didn't know what Madison would be like as a lyricist, I was trying to telepathically tell him that she cowrote perfect harmony, which I think he would absolutely lose his mind over, considering how much he loves the song
There are a lot of bts footage of this show and it is even more interesting see how much effort they put it in the musical point. They are like ac actual band. Also The Perfect Harmony is written by Maddison and Charli aka Julie and the Nick. Since it is a Kenny show they said they wanted to wrote something similar the HSM roof top sequence.

“Julie and the Phantoms" was originally a brazilian musical series! It was on TV in 2011 and 2012. It was a huge success here in Brazil and one of my favorite series! The biggest difference between the original one and the Netflix one is that the original had rock songs, some of them almost indie rock. In the American "Julie and the Phantoms" the director decided to make pop songs. I liked it. Maybe we're going to have a crossover in the future. I love both of the shows 💕

We never see Carrie's mom, and the fan theory I thought about is what if she died as well. For Carrie, a way to honor her mom was by putting all her energy into music. She is now mad at Julie for giving it up after her mother died, and they never got along again.
I hope that Julie and the Phantoms end up being like the band “The Monkees”, who got their start on a TV show, but ended up being so popular that they became a real band.
Can we all just agree the Luke can basically have chemistry with anyone onscreen haha, his energy and vibe is literally everything!

they can pick up anything they have an emotional connection too that’s why they can pick up the instruments and some of julies stuff and, in the end, hug julie b/c they’ve developed an emotional connection to her

Perfect harmony was written by mads and charlie (julie and luke). It wasnt supposed to be in the show at first, but they palyed it to kenny ortega (creator of the show) and he loved it.

3 of the songs are nominated for the Daytime Emmy awards - The Otherside of Hollywood, I got the music, and Unsaid Emily. Also nominated for costume design, hair and makeup, best cast in a tv series. The entire song of Perfect Harmony hits different ❤️🥰
Update: In case you missed it, “Unsaid Emily” won the Emmy for outstanding original song. The show also won for costume design and multiple camera editing

And the most fascinating thing is that cover is just she singing and playing piano on her backyard. And Sara Bareilles put the cover on her stories of instagram when Madison made it last year.

Cheyenne Jackson (the villain) like you said clearly has a singing background and you are right. He is literally a broadway actor, he did descendants 3 and plenty of musical theatre stuff. He’s undeniably underrated and has a HUGE voice

Madison (Julie) and Charlie (Luke) wrote Perfect Harmony together on set. It wasn’t originally in the show but they spent their free time writing it. When they pitched it to Kenny Ortega, the director, he thought it was a song from a well established artist. He was so impressed he put it in the show.

Did you know the actors for Luke and Julie wrote Perfect Harmony themselves on the set?! They played it to Kenny and he thought it was a Shawn and Camilla song! They literally wrote and choreographed that entire scene in the show so they could include their song! They're so talented, those kids are going places!

fun little detail: earlier in the series julies dad mentions what julies mom favorite flower was (cant remember the name) and in the last episode when julies asking for a sign from her mom the flower the lady gives her is her moms favorite flower
the flowers are dahlias !! and another little fun detail is that the flowers in the vase in the background of Luke’s home when they first see him visiting his parents on his birthday is also a bouquet of dahlias !!
