  • Bing Crosby sings and reveals for the first time on film that he has a natural gift for comedy.
Mack Sennett had enjoyed international success as a producer of silent comedy films but his only successes in the sound era were the group of short films first starring Bing Crosby and then W.C, Fields.
This is the film that got the series off to a great start.
I can only find one or two songs excerpts on You Tube from this film, I wanted to share the whole film with you

When they look back at singers a hundred years from now, they will list Bing as a contender for the best ever. I personally love his early voice/style as heard in this video. A true feel for comedy also.

Superb. One of the very best from that period. Has aged dramatically well.

I can not describe the chilling strange feeling I get when I hear the start of this move, (a partial of "Out Of Nowhere") as well as the rest of the GREAT Music in this Movie! It is surreal!

Thanks for putting up the entire film! I’m reading an unauthorized bio of Crosby, The Hollow Man, (after picking it up, I realized I used to know one of the writers back in LA) and this was mentioned. So glad it was available! Thank you again!

Look up My Site for "Bing Crosby Brunswick Recording`s" Playlist! You will find the Recordings He Did for Brunswick! He did all of the Songs in this Movie! The first song in this is the song "Out Of Nowhere" played only in part, A few of the last bars Twice over giving it a totally different melody! I WISH THERE WAS A Song LIKE THIS, Recorded! Sadly Bing did not Record "I Surrender Dear" for Brunswick, He did Record it for Victor, For Gus Arnheim`s Cocoanut Grove Ambassadors! only in a short vocal, I believe I have it on My Bing site! Even though it was not on Brunswick! BOY I WOULD KILL FOR A COPY Of "I Surrender Dear" using Sennett`s Studio Orchestra! "At Your Command" Was Recorded only with Harry Barris Piano Acc. Two or three takes! Not with Full Orchestra like in this Movie! Bing hit it BIG with a AWESOME Solo Recording on Columbia "Can`t We Be Friends?" & "Gay Love" on the flip! I have a E++ Copy of this Record! I have Every Bing Crosby Brunswick record except for "How The Time Can Fly" recorded in 1931 and was not issued! I have a Test pressing of "Here Is My Heart" with The Dorsey Brothers acc., It was not issued ether! But is a REAL Treat for any Bing Collector! I may (God Willing) put it on My "Royola" 78 RPM Label with another Bing side that was not issued, Or "You`re Beautiful Tonight, My Dear" Guy Lombardo acc. The Flip side to this does not have Bing singing, "I`m Playing With Fire" Carman Lombardo vocal! Bing did "I`m Playing With Fire" for Brunswick, Brunswick Records were also issued after July of 1931 went to the ARC , CBS Columbia Recording Studios, Bought from MCA! So You can Find Bing on Melotone, Oriole, BANNER, Romeo, Conqueror, Perfect, And British Columbia Records! Bing Recorded a Couple of Victor Records in 1930, also Bluebird! Please forgive My rambling, But it`s been a AWFUL day! GOD is My only salvation! But look up these Songs here on You tube! Or My Bing Playlist! (The Videos are not mine! But It would get more views and likes for the AWESOME Folks who posted these Beautiful Recordings!)
