    I just ordered a side charging 7.62x39 in 16" and loved it so much I ordered a 5.56 in side charging too.
    I've always thought of the T style charging handle as a weak link in the AR platform.
    I have way more confidence in these new side chargers !!
    BCA has been excellent in the last few years and all of the builds I've done with their uppers have been trouble free.

    I started to get a side charger but I clean & inspect after every range visit and I find the rear charger way more practical for disassembly vs unscrewing then tightening every time I need it opened up. As far as ammo is concerned....coated, uncoated or surplus etc it cycles it all.

    JMO I have BCA 10.5" rear charger. I have been thru four extractors in 300 rounds. Bear Creek did not sell them on their website and after two months of no response I bought a new bolt from black rifle arms $100. Because BCA has a different milling depth I had to get their bolt. Black rifle does sell just the extractors for $12. Then I put a h3 buffer to try to fix the over gassing caused by the insane .095 gas port. Still ejected at 1oclock. I finally added a adjustable gas block and have it shooting and ejecting at 3 o'clock and have not broken any extractors since the gas block was changed. About 100 rounds since then. I suggest you do a steel gas block especially in a shorter barrel. I got the one that bents the extra pressure out the front. It was suggested by MRGUNSANDGEAR he has a great video on all the options for adjustable gas blocks. My gun is very accurate that is the only reason I have not scraped this whole build. But I recommend you look at 300 black if you are going cheap. 300 operates way way like light years better in ar then 762 because the parent case is 556. Another option is the 350 or even 300 hamr.
    It is just to much stress on the bolt when they mill that much material from the bolt face to except the larger rims such as 762 and 6.5 grendel. I just wanted to share my experience I did the research prior to getting into this project and I thought the cost of rounds would make up the difference for replacement parts but 300 has came way down and with PSA making ammo as AAC it will continue to fall off. Hope this information is helpful to someone.

      @@brentparker4096 oh ok thanks for the reply. I had heard that the BCG was different. I had already upgraded and also bought spare bolts as well. Haven't shot it yet since. I was hoping it was just the bolt face difference on BCA and not a chamber/breach difference making my upgrades not work as they should.

    I have the same 7.62x39 setup. Make sure you upgrade the firing pin and hammer spring. Also, yiu might want to install a heavier buffer to handle the recoil from the more powerful round. Good luck.!

      I take back the comment about coated steel case 7.62 ammo. Finally got one of my customers AR47 fully broken in at 700 rounds and Franklin armory bfs3 trigger. Maybe due to the more heat on the chamber making it seat rounds better without any hang ups, jams or any issues of any kind. Aero Precision lower with gen 1 10.5 side charging upper. Had rounds stick in chamber with normal shooting b4 new trigger. Shot 600 more after trigger installation with normal shoot followed by super fast and continuous mag dumps. No further issues

    A buddy told me nomatter what you do the the 762 ARs they will never be 100%. Unless you flute the throat. At least for the coated rounds. The AK have fluting and some times you can even see the lines on the cases. Less surface area for the coating to stick.
    The enhanced firing pin, modified bolt face, enhanced extractor and the enhanced hammer spring should do it until you start shooting the coated rounds.

      can confirm, however did mag dump everything (even common wolf steel ammo and a few other variations) up until the lacquered casing. it was the last test because lacquered casing not only sucks in an ar with 7.62 but with .223/5.56 as well.. so in a sense its as 100% as any AR in any caliber.

    do you have an H2 buffer in the buffer tube? that buffer (with the enhanced firing pin that now comes in all BCA uppers probably in that one too if its only 3 weeks old) can mag dump steel wolf like nothing.. the trick is staying away from lacquered casing, trust me lol, i mag dumped all kinds of 7.62 and is the only casing i had any issues with. i have the regular charging handle version, absolutely love it: ua-cam.com/video/JTpnuO4TtCI/v-deo.html

    • @mrl3285
      @mrl3285 3 роки тому +1

      @Fredy Vargas that is a great question! unfortunately i don't know. tbh i don't have a h3 buffer but know thats what everyone uses on their 9mm. however when looking at my 556 carbines i know h2 will work with them but i went with h1 (still 25% heavier than milspec) instead and find it basically to be like you described "the sweet spot". on 7.62x39 i have only tried H2 because was immediately told to and had success.

    • @mrl3285
      @mrl3285 3 роки тому

      oh and i was told when doing mods like this the extractor takes more abuse and will potentially break, so its good to get a couple spares.. its still cheaper than shooting brass.

    • @mrl3285
      @mrl3285 3 роки тому

      also remember the difference between recoil and muzzle flip.. because the muzzle flip will increase in these over gassed carbines, but i haven't experienced much if any recoil from the h2 buffer on 7.62x39 to motivate me to get a heavier one. practice with a C clamp is great and if you switch back to 556 it feels like a 22lr
