I remember when slugs were fairly cheap to shoot. Then along came sabot's and turned a slug gun into the most expensive gun to shoot per trigger pull other than a .50bmg
I have the exact same Savage 220 and mine shoots the 2 3/4” Accutips just perfect. It’s dead center at 50, and at 100, it’s roughly 1/2” high using the first drop down line on the BDC. Suffice to say that I’m happy with it. I can hit 200 yards with mine, but I doubt I’m making a shot over 150 as most of my shots are from inside 100. Where I hunt with mine is Allegheny County here in Western PA. I did try the Hornady SSTs and they shot ok. Overall this gun was well worth the money.
I live just south of the cities here in MN and the in laws have some acerage in the middle of some fields. Been looking at this gun since I can't use my rifle down here. Thanks for the video.
I’ve had one of these since they first came out. They’re excellent but ammo sensitive. Try different ammo and let the barrel cool between shots. Should shoot 1 inch groups pretty easily. They have the accu stock now so that’s better. I love these shotguns. Many deer taken with mine. Enjoy.
I have a new 220 with a Nikon slug BDC scope sighted in at 100 yds with rem accu tips, shoots great. The question I have is do you need to aim differently from a 15ft tree stand at a deer that is only 20 to 30 yards out ? Or do you use the zero cross hair ?
Did we just become best friends! I have a savage 220 with a Nikon scope in it and I got 5 boxes of 3 inch federals and I’ve had it for 5 months and I haven Even shot it yet. How was the recoil on it looks good that wind is what worries me when I shoot I don’t want to miss them mule deer this year.
Ha! Ya the recoil isn’t to bad, granted I had it in a lead sled, but still with out that it isn’t bad. The wind drift depends on distance and speed, but it won’t drift to bad, depending on which slug you settle into
I heard that 220 likes Hornady’s . Out to 200 yards max. If you find it difficult to dial in, you may want to try those Hornadys. My toy is 12 gauge and I tried most possible shells out in the market, it turned out that it only liked Winchester dual bond 375 grains. I had awesome results my past deer season. 124 yards through the heart of an 8 pointer. Yes it could get expensive at the range, but at least you wouldn’t be disappointed when you look at those antlers in a scope.
Well I’m back I tell u what them slug guns are bad ass dropped an 8 point the impact sound from 135 yards the sound is money that thump sound is money 10 sticks of summer sausage and almost 30 pounds of deer jerky that’s raw weight not sure after I dehydrate it
Ha good question. Honestly comes down to the person, I think if you messed around with it and got the right ammo a guy could shoot really good groups. For the simple reason as I have seen it done

Almost clicked off because I thought the video was over and something made me stay. Then you read a verse. Pretty cool!

Another good video, I’d move my shooting position away from that exterior wall
It would be easier on your hearing!

If your going to miss it will be high, if you aimed a touch low, say at the heart you should be good!

@@chiya2006 well hell yea I appreciate it I’ve seen them I’ve only seen 2 3/4 next time I go to the big R farm store I’ll have to get some boxes
Is there an ejector in the new 220? Or is the ejection just using the extractor via hard cycle?
Too bad the accutips are discontinued, any recommendations on a replacement ammo
They still make them, just very behind on production. Hornady, and Federal make good options also
Why didn't you show the target at the end
what model gun vise is this? And thx for the video!

Really hurt me watching you drive through that alfalfa🥺
😁😂
You feel that group is worth $900?

AMEN
What did you pay for that set up if you don’t mind me asking? I just paid 899 for that set up with a sling.
I sell this package for $760
@@straightshooter7354 too bad I didn’t find you first! 🤦♂️. Do you sell accu tips?
Haha! Truth!
I might have a few hid in my safe 😜
I’m gonna be shooting Hornady Sst’s. If you ever wanna sell a few boxes let me know!!
@@straightshooter7354 can I get some information on how to order from you? Is that $760 with the scope?
4 clicks per 1 inch at 100
I don't agree with how you shoot in a scope.
22 inch barrel
Not a very good shooting bench. There seems to be a lot of Christers these days in the world of guns.
it’s convenient and gets the job done 😂
