Perhaps one who said goofy stuff but what’s sports without goofy quotes and memes? Good Rex/Bad Rex. Smokin’ Jay. Justin QB1 gone in 3. Kyle neck beard Orton. And of the actual starters, those are probably the best of the bunch.
On a side note, I always thought Mitch could have used Jay as a social mentor of sorts to be able to tune out the Chi town media noise. Doesn’t seem like Caleb has that hangup.

@@caelintaylor6346actually he didn’t, and your comment showcases the same mistake they made. “I will be” vs “I want to be” are two different things. If he said “I guarantee I’ll be the best ever,” that’s making a definitive statement. He said “my goal is to be immortal.” People set goals all the time-some achieve them some don’t. But nowhere in that statement did he guarantee he’s going to win it all, be immortal, be one of the best ever. All he said is “that’s my goal.” And let’s be honest, countless 1st rounders and even those drafted day 2, 3, or picked up UDFA have said their goal is to be among the best. In all honest, what do you want him to say “I wanna be average. I hope to pass for 2500 yards some year” and settled for mediocrity? Or do you want someone that sets high goals and works to try to achieve their expectations, lofty as they may be?

Would we rather him say “my goal is to win 5 games my first year” or “I hope to make it to a pro bowl one day”? No, this dude is a #1 overall pick. Plenty of first round QBs have flopped, Chicago knows this all too well.
This sort of reminds me of an interview I did of our high school girls soccer coach when I was on our newspaper staff in high school. The team had won 5 games total the previous two years combined. I asked him what the goals were for the upcoming season, and he just glared at me and said "to win state and have this group of girls go down as the best."

saying Caleb makes the super bowl before his rookie deal is not a hot take at all especially with their roster. Jalen Hurts made it his 3rd (2nd year starting) and Caleb’s offense is more loaded.

I can see now why Mangini wasn’t a good coach. He probably fined his players for getting too excited and having high expectations.

I have no idea what they are talking about when saying Caleb shouldn’t want to be the best ever and shouldn’t want to be a in the hof???? What? Why would you want your qb and leader to not have his eyes set as high as possible?

ESPN Insider Adam Schefter said the Bears never have had a QB in franchise history to throw 4,000-plus yards or 30-plus TDs in a season. Erik Kramer set the single-season passing record (3,838 yards) and touchdowns (29) in 1995.

To Caleb’s defense to be immortal as a Chicago Bears QB all you need is 30 TD’s and 4,000 yards in a season.

I'm with coach. He's not saying you can't say anything, he's saying measure your responses. Has a first round QB ever flopped? Of course.
When you go overboard in saying things, you open yourself up to criticism. The pressure to deliver is now ratcheted up even more.
