Pakistan diaspora has spread to Sabah a long time ago. We usually call them "Pra", person with some Pakistani blood. They have lost the Urdu language due to inter-marriages hundred of years ago but some still retain the height and facial features of a Pakistani.
Pakistani migration is still ongoing to Sabah and they get married to local people and their offsprings are super cute. Sometimes its funny because the Pakistani dad is wearing the traditional shalwar kameez, and his child is talking in fluent Sabahan Malay and her dad replying in broken Malay.

In Terengganu there's a mosque built in 1793 and completed in 1808, then it was upgraded in 1860s into similar concrete structure with roman arches and dome. It was called The White Mosque or Masjid Abidin. Guessed you've seen it while in KT.

Sorry for some Malaysian toxic comment in here sir, I read some of them. For the last few days or since this government take over state between some west and east coast is a little bit tense because of politics.
Mostly from the west coast people hitting on east coast like Kelantan and Terengganu because its an opposition state or as you already know one of the reason from the video.

That is why there's some comment that I agree say if tourist like him want to feel actual Malaysian culture just go to the state like Kelantan, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak. Maybe other state that not over progress by development and the west influence. Kedah, Perak, Perlis

fyi Kelantanese have been oppress since 1 Feb 1948 by then the chief minister(CM) of Federation of Malaya. this is because Kelantanese is the most democratic people in Malaya. From before 1 Feb 1948, the Kelantanese people have opted to changed "Pearl of KB" to Serambi Mekah. This did not go well with CM and UMNO, they loved the old KB which is populated with Vice Activities. From 1 Feb 1948 till May 1969, Kelantan is the only opposition states in Federation of Malay (1948 - 1963) and Federation of Malaysia (1963 - 1969). Then the parliament and state DUN was hung by UMNO from May 1969 till 1976.
Prior 16/9/1963, Kelantan State was the only state that stand up and opposite the establishment of Malaysia since UMNO did not asked us the Malaya Federation Citizens nor the 9th Malay Ruler about the approval for forming Malaysia which is against the MA 48 and MA 57. The rest was under UMNO which shows that Kelantan stand up for the rights for Malay Federation Citizens, Malay Rulers and for Sabahan and Sarawakian.
Kelantan stated that such merger need to be study and not force since it's 3 different world combine together.
Now days we see how Sabahan and Sarawakian think that we (Malaya) trick them into Malaysia Federation.
By 1960s, KB is no longer knowns as the pearl of the east for it vice activities but as Serambi Mekah.
If UMNO was ruling Kelantan back then you won't be visiting Islamic City but Pearl of The East.
Then from 1989 till 1998, Kelantan was the only Opposition administration in Malaysia.
So from 1989 till now Kelantan is under PAS administration. Now Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis is under PAS administration.
So UMNO hates Kelantanese for voting PAS which they pay a very high price. Yearly Kelantanese loss love ones due to Federal denied of a better road infrastructure. Each time Kelantanese have a Friendly Prime Minister like Pak Lah, Najib, Ismail and Mayhudin UMNO will do their best to ensure those PM are no longer in service. Those PM except Mahyudin are UMNO members but they were providing Kelantan with what is due for Kelantanese.

I don't think anyone's mentioned this particular historic event that happened in Padang Bank where the flagpole was located (across the Rehal Square and arch). During the British occupancy in the 1910s, there was a group of Malay locals who fought the governing authorities in protest of the Sultan welcoming the British government/officials as part of seeking protection and gaining support in form of military power against the more intimidating Siamese government. The rebel movement was led by a number of Malay men based in a neighbouring district south of Kota Bharu, one of them being the most known name in Kelantanese history: Mat Hassan or commonly known as Tok Janggut (roughly translated as Old Long Beard) for sporting long beard.
It was believed that Tok Janggut and his comrades are protesting the new government introduced by the Brits and they refused to pay for the varying taxes charged upon the residents in the state. There are also speculations on a number of other factors that led to worsening conflict between Tok Janggut's company and the royal and government administrators of Kelantan. In the end, after a number of battles and fights between the two sides, Tok Janggut and a few others were killed. I believe this was in 1915.
What happened next was something that I believe most Malaysians would know after learning from some history textbooks. The authorities took Tok Janggut's body and paraded it in an oxen cart around the square for THREE WHOLE ROUNDS. Finally, they brought his body into the square and hang him upside down (feets up, heads down) for the general public to witness. It was a cruel way of warning the residents of what will happen to 'traitors' of the throne and the british government.
Malaysians now hailed Tok Janggut as one of the prominent historical figures who fought against colonisation in this state. There is also a War Museum right next to the square that tells the story of important events in Malaysia, specifically the invasions that Kota Bharu has seen over the years. I am so glad that you have a marvelous time in my hometown.

Austronesians and other southeast asians be them austronesians or austroasiatics are supposed to have slanted eyes because of yunnan and taiwanese climates which their very old ancestors were originated from. It doesn’t have anything to do with Han Chinese. If you see Malays having bigger eyes, that may be because of South Indian admixture.

Kota Bharu doesn''t really translated as New City but rather New Fort, because at the time of 18's century new Sultan of new dynasty build a new fort as defensive strategy!

Malaysia is a multiracial country and Islam is the official religion and the Malays are the majority and it's A FACT. Although it's not an Islamic country cuz shariah law is not implemented here, we implement shariah law in state level for the Muslims. We still have our Malays, Muslim Kings who protect the Malay races as the BUMIPUTERA and also Islam as the national official religion as stated in the constitution. And KB IS AN ISLAMIC CITY, even the Chinese and Indians there speak Kelantanese and some of them voted PAS and even became the representative for PAS during the election in Kelantan or Terengganu. "when the britsh hang over to Chinese and Indians" WTF??? Delusinal much?? Go get the fact right and cry more 😂😂
We have been living harmoniously for 67 years with Malays as the majority and Islam as the official religion, and other races can practice their faith freely here, build their temples and churches freely and celebrate each religion's holidays together. Do not poke at a sleeping bear, bro.
