When I have a house built in Florida preferably the villages I want them to do that in all my closets… Do they do that in larger walk-in closets? It’s so much better than having those one level metal shelves that they do in Florida. I lived in BOCA RATON for 10 years and it was terrible. If you put too much stuff on it it just breaks away from the wall anyway I wanted to also ask, how much did everything cost, this was a very helpful productive video that I’m sure many people are going to emulate and use. Thank you again both of you for such great handy videos that help people settle in the villages both do a great job as always I love your videos thank you thank you thank you.🇺🇸✈️🙏😇⭐️👍❤️🤍💙
Thank you for your kind words, Jimmy. We believe that you will only be able to get the barest minimum as far as shelving in your closets. The fancy closets are always added on after the fact. We could be wrong, but that's what we have experienced.
That's a wonderful design and a good use of space. Storage became a low priority as the popularity of "open concept" houses took over. We struggle with the same issue in our home built in the early 2000s.
We were the wishy washy ones. I feel like they could have done it within a week or 2 of when we decided what we wanted. However we kept going back-and-forth about wanting it this way or that way. I would say call them and see what their lead time is right now.
We spoke with a company up in NJ to have a pantry made. In the pantry they are creating a hanging space for my dog Bella to have her dresses hung up. Your new shelving unit looks great.
Thanks for sharing. I am not a fan of the wire racks that come in most village homes. I will add this company to the list of vendors to use if I am able to move there soon.
Too often we make do with what someone else says should serve the universal purposes of everyone, without making our home ours. You are living in”your home” that you have made yours. This type of lingo adds the commentator, the consultant, to the mix for more expensive remodeling. It looks like the worker and the homeowner came to the ultimate solution here without a consultant and the mumbo jumbo commentary.
Looks awesome!! FYI - if you do it again, have them wall mount the built in so it is off of the ground. If you ever change the flooring you will have an issue with everything sitting on the floor. Our designer suggested this -- when we changed our flooring a few years after installation it was very easy.
We get a kick out of all the folks that feel the need for more storage when they retire to Florida. We know folks that have brought all their worldly possessions from up North when they relocated here. No wonder there are so many storage businesses popping up all over the state. While we aren't real minimalists and don't deprive ourselves of things we would like to have. We keep things down to want is comfortable. If something won't fit into our home. We don't get it.

Jeryy and Linda, When I ran my own business, "The Woodshop Co. of Sidney" part of it was designing and building closet organizers similar to this. The big differance between what you have and what I built was I installed mine on a french cleat. This would allow you to move the sections around. So if you wanted the hanging section in the center you would just take the hanger unit out and slide the shelf unit down and rehang the hanging unit. This feature also allowed you to move the units to another closet or just for painting. I have built lots of closet organizers with drawers and combinations of shelfs and hanging bars. And guess what all my closets have oganizers. I have also built queen and single size Murphy Beds, vertical and horizontal, and even some caskets.
Wall Beds+ installed 2 wall beds for us. One in my office and the other in our workout room. Love being able to use the rooms for other things and still have beds for guests when needed. They did a great job for us as well.
You are honest and nice people. What viewers don’t understand is that a LOT and I mean A LOT of space is gone when you move to the villages. Basement. Gone. Extra closet. Gone. You trade lots of space and snow for less space and sun. I love your show. Thanks for keeping it real about what you give up when you move to the Villages. People get used to lots of space.
Just refloored the craft room and all the genealogy stuff I have in the front bedroom. I packed up 70 boxes. Couldn’t believe I had that much stuff in the closet and drawers! I still have things under the bed in the other two bedrooms. It’s hard to get back to the genealogy now that we live in TV. I’m saving that until I get older and have more time. Looks like they did a nice job. Thanks!
One of the best investments I ever made was to put an closet organizing system into my bedroom closet. I know you'll enjoy yours and get a lot of use from it. :)
I don't mind occasional sponsored ads in YT videos as long as they are relevant to the channel's usual content. This is very relevant to the challenges of our downsized living spaces (and your window blinds video was relevant to the problem with hot lanais). We installed a similar closet system in our spare bedroom and even have a TV in there. When you have a place for everything, it's easy to put everything in its place. I know I've accumulated clutter if things don't fit easily, so it's time to toss or donate. Even though everything fits neatly, I love closing the doors so the room looks pristine. Enjoy it!
That really turned out nice! So much useful space! The room itself is pretty and you had a good idea to be using that closet as an office in its previous life. Now the kids know right where to go to find their things when they come to stay! Love it!
It looks so nice . I did the same thing in my FL condo . We have two closets like yours in our guest room . I wanted to put in a built in desk like you had, but we are moving down full time, and l have bins and bins of holiday decor that l don’t want to part with so we built in storage shelves in one of the closets measuring the height of the bins so that l could get the most shelves that l could. My friend had storage things built that hang down from her garage ceiling ( we have high ceilings)

We would like to transform that room. It is a challenge with the room being so small and windows on one side and the closet on the opposite side. Gotta do some brainstorming. The folks at Wallbeds Plus will help, but the room may prove to be too small in the long run.

Storage seems to be a big issue in Florida because they have no basements. We’re planning on moving down to Groveland south of you and we were wondering about storage also, I think you really solved the problem. Thanks for all your informative videos. I think we’re gonna go that route to.

Nice use of space. In my home in Virginia we have the Elfa closet system from The Container Store. It is mounted to cleats on the wall and can be reconfigured and moved. We have rearranged ours many times over the years and even moved from house to house or closet to closet. There is no single right answer to how to configure a closet. But just about any system works better than the single shelf above rod system that builders throw in there. But a closet system is sure less expensive than an addition to your home.
I appreciate your videos but feel that you are now starting to do too many commercials for companies/entertainment where are getting special deals or admission charges in exchange. Can you stay totally objective with all your statements?

There are basements in some homes in Jacksonville, especially in older sections. I used to babysit for a family who had laundry in basement.
