Welcome back to AZ, Russ. I did this stint through the Petrified Forest last summer. Was too hot to get out and do anything more than snap a few photos. Stayed overnight at the visitor center as they offer free boondocking there. Apparently, most of the petrified wood is gone due to looters looking for a quick buck. Shame. I imagine what it must have been like in its heyday.
russ i stopped there in late march on my back from california the girl at the ranger station signed me up for the lifetime park pass at no charge since i was a veteran what a beautiful place to visit first time i saw petrified wood
A person can look at that for miles and miles. Did see the layer in that on shot and looked to have different layered colors somewhat. Loved the design of that old building. Russ thank you so much. See you tomorrow. Hope your having a great evening.
This video brings back fond memories of a trip I’m glad we took before my wife got sick and eventually passed in 2019...memories are all we have... I remember it was hot 🥵
Looks like the road runs along the top of the butte and you looking out at a dry lake bed with all the little mounds and valleys. Bet it gets really hot there during the summer. TFS a great video. Happy trails.
Thanks for sharing. It made me wonder what the first Spanish explorers, the first western settlers, and the native tribes thought and experienced when they saw this for the first time.
I must admit Russ..at this point I am totally addicted to your cool vids..mostly because sooner than later I will be on the road full time...my 'training wheels' ... ha
@@robertallen6710 it looks like it would be better than most jobs these days in NJ. I will be driving out there to camp and planning on panning all winter to see if it pans out. 😀
Hey Russ, been following you on your trip.... love it ..the best .. thank you.. No place like home ..this time out of country was hell for me , Russ you and channel helped me to make it back home.. God bless America!
Well Russ, you are almost back to Quartzsite. Thanks for the travels. Last time I was at Painted Park (Desert) was in ‘69. Oregon has it’s “Painted Hills” in eastern Oregon.
Waved back at you Russ. almost their. I watched the video from the last time you were through with Scoobs and you had your old rv Spirit. I do not think you filmed the painted desert as you did. Just a quick video of the petrified forest which was lovely and is still in one of you playlists.
A 12:35....A local weatherman would love analyzing the different cloud formations and explaining how they precede specific weather events with amazing predictability.
always love to see such a beautiful journey in desert , but i could nt understand what u are talking about class B and class C ,what is that ? and what is petrified wood ? its the wood eroded by time ? thats what u mean?
This is nice but the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Oregon is even prettier. As always, though, great video from Russ 👍.
I’ve been following your videos since you left Quartsiite I still haven’t figured out the purpose or the point of all the videos !Most of the places you stop to video you were there a couple minutes and then you were in a hurry to get back on the road! Miles and miles of pavement !

I have been there many times and the best time I think to see it is after a rain with the sun on the petrified wood

Welcome back to Arizona, Russ!
Thank you for sharing your journey ✌️💞🤟howz yer trike?
I love my Winnebago Travato K class B van. Plenty of room, has everything I want inside and it gets great gas mileage.
I drove through in 1983. Saw lots of petrified trees.

Wow! Really beautiful sights. Shame to hear about the petrified wood being taken. Neat area for sure. TY. 😊👍
Driving with the window open you go through more gas than driving with the AC on
I am a year behind but enjoying every bit of it
Been by there many times, but never had time to stop.
Really enjoy your videos....Thank you!!!😀
You are really good at this video editing thing.

14:05 Hi, Russ!! 🙋♂️
Why was the flag at half mast at 10.52?
Somebody died.
@@gsp49 Do we know who dies? presuming an important , well known , person.
Hi fc. Thailand
👋👋👍👍👋👋
So worried about our parks/monuments/lands. They are under attack. 😢
MUGS: How do I find the MUGS?
Most of this is just you driving. Where is the actual painted desert?
♥️
👋😀
😎👍👍
Hey Russ, how does one get a senior card like yours?Thanx for the ride-a-long.🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽
You can get senior card if you are 62 or older, at an US Forest Service Office or US Park Office, I think they are $80 now for life.
Thanx!🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽
