Feel free to comment about the show and even criticize it, guys, but bigotry and racism is going to be shunted to the shadow realm. I already had to remove quite a few of these comments. And to all you culture war weirdos: thanks for watching and giving me money, you idiots. It gives me much pleasure to ensure you are not heard or seen and that I can create a good community for the people you hate.
What exactly is racism and bigotry these days anyway? Those terms have been bastardised so much that they practically don't have any meaning now. A person can be accused of racism just for having a certain hairstyle or wearing certain clothing and that's just insane to me. So what exactly does racism mean now? Because as far as I can see, it's just become a buzzword to use against people who aren't actually being racist but are just voicing their opinions.
@@BradLad56 Bigotry is commenting you'd use the Dominate Person spell from DnD to force women to suck you off. Racism is claiming a black character in a white historical setting is a "cultural parasite" even when their presence is very much in line with real historical events. All these are real comments I have received in this channel.
@@JazzyCeeSomeone actually saying that a black or gay person in an adaptation of a fantasy video game is a cultural parasite is indeed racist and/or bigot. Someone who expresses dissatisfaction that some depictions of race or sexual orientation are being done for political correctness in favor of faithfully adapting a childhood video game however isn't. Personally, even though I played Rondo when I was a kid, I didn't care about Annette's race in the series, after all in the video game she is a character with no actual presence other than a plot device. I do care though when someone says I'm being racist when I find Annette's personality in the series kind of annoying.
@@JazzyCee dude, that's not bigotry. It's vulgar to say if they actually mean it but it's not bigotry. You just took an unpleasant situation that has nothing to do with bigotry and just slapped the label on it. As for the cultural parasite remark, I personally wouldn't call someone that but I don't think you can call it racism either considering that it's something anybody could be called, it's not race specific. However, I have noticed that while black people lose their goddam minds when they think their culture is being 'appropriated', they have no problem doing it to others, like taking a very old English legend, 'modernising' it and making all the characters black. I am of course talking about the new Robin Hood show. While I don't exactly agree with calling someone a cultural parasite, I can understand why someone would feel that way with crap like that.
OG Anette was a damsel in distress; I figured they were going to change things after Dracula got his wife back, and this isn't the first time they've changed something, either. The Lords of Shadows series took place in its own universe; in that world, Dracula was a Belmont.
I knew it wasn't going to be a 1:1 adaptation, but at least i thought they would pick the story and flesh it out, look for lore and expand it. What we got is a whole new, original thing. I can't even call it an adaptation, honestly, which is a bummer.
@@JazzyCee i think, like, why even bother with small references if the main meat was replaced by original content? It's like giving small crumbs to the fans, while the core of the source material is inexistent.
0:38 Simon's Quest Dracula's Curse Dawn of Sorrow Circle of the Moon Order of Ecclesia are all without musical references too. It's not that much of a staple to care about.
The original Rondo of Blood feels a lot faster and controls smoother too than the remake believe it or not. Remake feels a lot slower in comparison. Also the stairs can be beaten by just jumping on them and holding up diagonally. You don't need to climb up from the very bottom lol. You can even backflip with Richter and latch on to them. And yeah the jumps here have to be precise just like the OG games but funnily enough the OGs have smoother jumping controls. Lastly there's a difficult boss waiting for you if you decide to keep going the alternate route with probably the most difficult level too in the entire remake. I am glad that they made rescuing Annette in the remake much more involved compared to the OG that it doesn't matter if you rescue her or not because she won't turn into a succubus and you'll still fight the ghost of Shaft and Dracula like normal. Oh yeah if you don't get hit in a boss fight the game gives you an extra life. The reason why the bosses try to hit you after they die is to deny you of that extra life lol.
The old ones feel faster? That is so weird, I think I might genuinely give it a shot, because the movement was kind the only thing that turned me off this game. You can see that I figured the diagonal thing only at the end of the game when I went to that secret room before Dracula. That last thing is so dirty too, lol! Thanks for the cool comment!
Yes, more Baldur's Gate is coming, and I mispronounce Richter a lot, leave me alone! This took waaay longer than I expected. Still, I actually am very proud of how it turned out, think I'm kind of figuring out my video style. Also, tell me if the audio mixing of the game feels good? I used automatic audio dunking this time. Edit: Btw, discourse around this show is getting vitriolic, so just know that I'm not suffering any nonsense in this comment section, ok? Be kind.
Just wanted to mention that Dracula X (Vampire's Kiss/Akumajou Dracula XX) is NOT a port. They are two entirely different games with the basic plot structure of Rondo.
Fun fact: Anette isn't even well written, She's said to be a descendant of Ogun, but why is she speaking Creole and not Yoruba? Why is she calling on Papa Legba (Iwa) and not Ogun himself or another Orisa like Sango?
Because she doesn’t know other magic. Her teacher taught her magic based in Haitian roots. She’s having to use what she knows to give her lineage based powers a boost. She calls on Papa Legba to boost her powers and to help her connect to her ancestral plain where you see what I’m assuming is Ogun, the origin of her power.
Because she was born and grew up in the Caribbean... And her master, who taught her magic is Caribbean... It's almost like she was a slave and lost her parents at a young age or something, and is thus disconnected from her roots
@@joezuru3753 Her ability to control natural elements like earth and metal are due to her being a descendant of Ogun. That is innate as we see they activate without her knowledge or command as she's about to be branded. Her ability to invoke Papa Legba is a result of her studying Haitian Vodou with her master/teacher, Cecille. They're two separate entities that she's drawing power from and invoking, independent from one another.
