- The Powercab 112 and Powercab 112 Plus from Line 6 are 1x12 active speaker systems that boast an authentic “amp-in-the-room” playing experience when paired with any modeler, profiler, or even an amp-simulation pedal. Loud enough to fill any small club or medium-sized venue, and six classic speaker models as alternatives to your current favourite cab, Nick Jennison puts the Line 6 Powercab through its paces.

An articulate and well-formulated review of the Powercab 112 lineup: the best I've seen! Thank you.
Anyone here after 5 watt world talk about using his Helix Stomp with one of these?
definitely the best review I've seen and the only one that goes into an in depth comparison of the two variants
Finally a good review of the powercab awesome job
GREAT demo, playing, explanations-as usual. I recently bought the PC+ and have yet had the time to delve into all the possibilities (with my Helix LT), but now I'm even more excited to what I have to be looking forward to. Thanks!
do you like it? I am bought to get a powercab (no plus) for my LT. Does it really sound that good. One guy from another channel loved it at first then began sh*ttin on it 3 months later . So what you think?
Now this is what I call gear review. Excellent job guys!
Now that is one GREAT and detailed review and demo.
And a big thank you for limiting your guitar playing, very professional of you.
Great job Nick - playing sounds great too:)
20:22-20:31 Tom Quayle'esque run, nice and very informative and comprehensive review, comparison, and demonstration. There are so many of these demos out here on frfr cabs and digital rigs but after listening to literally 10's of demos tis really gave me the info I needed to make a choice...thank you
Exactly what I thought about the run he played
Thx for this video guy !
What's the best method cable between XLR / Jack to connect the Line 6 Helix on the Powercab ?
Thanks for a thorough review..great job.Gonna start saving pennies right now.
Fantastic review and detail especially focused on real life. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review! Such a pleasant dude. Thanks! 🙏
Fantastic demo thank you
Great review Nick! Beautiful playing, beautiful axes! That black PRS with the P90s was gorgeous! Thanks again!
Amazing tones.. love it
Amazing review, thanks a lot.
Great review and explanation!
Thank you kindly!
Best demo yet : )
Great review.
Thank you for your research and demo ! It's still hard to decide if modeling stuff is as good as a amp that pounds in your chest if you see what I mean. I guess they are getting there with some of the modelers but I'd like to know, to your ears, where they at right now : 90%, more ? Thank you again ! From Canada
Best review ever
great video
Who else is gonna start micing up his amp now? It sounds so much better than the 2 DIs ...
I had no idea that I'm in love with P90s
I just really like this guys playing. Bet he could make my $120 spider sound good.
I have a Helix and a GT1000....they're great direct and when I use my Alto monitor they sound decent, but still not like when I use my real amps with pedals....this demo at the end when comparing powercab vs monitor has me now hankering after a powercab or 2...that was impressive the difference it showed!
Thanks for taking the time to break these down. I'm new to this realm, learning how to navigate my Stomp HX. I'm picking up a used 112 for $250 today. I'm confused by the 250 Watt rating. I'm guessing 250 watts out of these must be way less than the equivalent of wattage through a tube amp.
How is the 112 going? Enjoying it? Im looking to get one!
Well worth saving for.
Nice guitar playing.
Love the prs with p90s.
Incredible video ! Could you please help me with this decision: Buy a Powercab 112 and two Altos Tx215 for my home mixer or.... just two more high quality and expensive active monitors ? Thnx
Great demo... I understand it wont work with a real guitar amp plugged into it but i just wondered if you went guitar amp - cab simulator pedal - line 6 powercab set to flat. would that work? ... thanks, alex
Hey Nick,
Great presentation, Great playing & you have sold me on the cheaper of the two boxes. I am a Helix & an axe fx 2 player, although my question has to do with your guitars.
What are the models of those two PRS guitars you are playing.
Thanks, GD
Gary Drury prs Custom 22 and Mcarthy i think
Seems to me that the sound out of the helix is actually best. lots of good low mid that the others are missing.
+++ how cool is that?+++ what deep dive into Powercab!
The BEST video that I found among all the UA-cam CRAP !....Thnx so much !!! I learned how to set up my new Powercab 112 !!!!
that great sound all
For the mic'ed version which was provideing the cab sim? Power cab or Helix?
Excellent demo! In your opinion, how accurate are the speaker models to you? I know they sound good, but are they like the real thing?
Can i use the plus model with the regular model? How do i set the output to go to mixer? Line or mic?
Do you think the 112 is loud enough to practice with a small band with drums or whi would need the 212
Brother! Thought I was looking at Geezer Butler for a second there. Lol
Brilliant video. Thanks for the share! On the fence for the Helix,
Cheers!
Wow!!!
there was a huge difference between three sources :O
Wondering if the cabinet modeling was turned off on the Helix when demonstrating the DI out from the PC+?
You can't do that. It goes directly WITH emulation.
I bought the helix what is the best thing to pair it with. Power Cab, Power Cab Plus or the 212 version? Leaning toward the powercap plus 112.
That would be my choice for convenience, but can't go wrong with any of those options really.
When will Line 6 get to where I can use this cab modler on my normal amplifier, or did I miss that part already?
You’d need one of those load box thingies like the universal OxBox or the boss waza tube amp expander. Direct in from an amp would destroy this device.
@@gladejustglade OK, Thanks!
AKG mic sounds best.
Can I use my Quilter 101 Reverb head to drive the Powercab?
Amp in a room sound , mic'd at 5" from speaker cone, I don't think so, that would be amp mic'd. A surface mic, placed at center of room on flat surface, would get you the amp in a room sound.
I'm puzzled by the difference in sound between Helix Di. and Powercab Di. as they should be identical to my knowledge.....
I think the difference is the Helix Di includes settings for different mics at variable distances with lots of variable settings where the Powercab Di is just a speaker model - i.e. no mics or mic position editing. hence the best sound on this demo should be the Powercab through the AKG. Hope that helps.
@@morrisfraser7236 exactly that :)
@@morrisfraser7236 powercab di does have a mic modeled
Silly question, but as a somewhat traditionalist and having gotten confused as to the signal routing options, could you plug a traditional analog peddle board into this or do you need amp modeling input?
Whats the point of having that cab model switcher when most modelers these days also have exactly that feature?
you dont get the feel of a real cab if you use the modelers cabs into the FRFR-mode. Then it sounds like a miked cabinet. Not a cabinet you sit in front of.
would a powercab sound good/handle an 8 string guitar?
Definitely
Nice demo but should use the XLR output to simulate the various mics.
i'd like the 212 but it's double the price just for the extra speaker
stereo function also
@@lyrasimo crap, good point lol
Give it a while for the price to drop a bit :-).
Get a plus and a non plus connect the two in series to a helix for sterio bliss
Have one never plugged it in ...
sure...
This sounds good, then the Kemper Kab gets released and you think "Why didn't I wait?"
That's true, but why not wait a couple of years and get the Kemper Kabinet version 2?
I was wondering: how about an acoustic guitar? Will it sound good?
If you are using a preset on the helix for acoustic, which I've seen a few, the can will make it louder so yes.
@@derrekmcfarlane7872 thanks!
would the yamaha thr30 work for this with it's line out option?
I suspect so, but that's a really good question
Had line 6 amp before, didn’t hold up for very long. Never again. I will wait for Kempers Cabinets
D I sounds awful. How do i get a good sound to front of house. I definitely don't want to mic it.
From your modeler and use the cab as a stage monitor
Why’s everyone on a prs these days?
Stagesource over this
good review ,good info than you
I’ve tried the Powercab + and to me it sounded very thin. Played it at max volume and this thing has no power at all. There is not one thing on the Powercab that can justify the price.
It needs proper *line* input level and proper virtual speaker output DB adjustment. You don't need to be so opinionated when you clearly don't know what you are talking about.
Don't like the Direct Input, very fizzy!
...
Can you, like, play a G-chord or something bro?
I’m not convinced by that last section. I already hate those horrible plastic EV’s, as wedges or PA cabs. Why wouldn’t I simply put a better-sounding, less-expensive powered FRFR behind me and crank it up, like the Headrush?
The powercab DI sounds like hot trash compared to the mic and the helix DI.
So, is the "Line 6 Amplifi" Without effects.....what's new again?
21:25 immensely loud? Dude, it's almost 50 lbs! That's the whole reason I want to get out of the analog world!
Well your fat arse can keep wearing headphones then
It’s actually 35lbs which is totally doable
So not usable for acoustic guitars! That's what you can with a real FRFR!
great playing but ill pass
The EV sounded like shit.
Sorry that shredding is so anal
chewing gum strings :)
Wow!!!!! That PRS should horrible. Looks like a chunk of prastic.
Looks like your taste is as good as your spelling, Broseph
@@GuitarInteractive Prastic is cheap plastic.....Horrible guitar.
Just can"t resist the opportunity to force your "look at me play" session can you. On top of that, your comparisons are apples and oranges. You didn't even keep them in the same frequency ranges for the examples.
The power cab is definitely not loud enough for many contexts. If you play loud rock or metal, this thing is a piece of crap!
loud enough here, but dont play that much anymore. I am still thinking of getting a second one. Have taken small 10" Fender amp to rehearsal and it was great with the stereo spread and I heard myself a lot better. The PC112 for me lack the spread of sound. Two speakers fixed this.
It's loud enough to play pretty much any pro level hard rock / metal concert. You just need to tweak the IR output settings...
250 watts not enough now then?
