I commute on the Pennsylvanian and Keystone Service 2-3 times a week to Pittsburg, Philly, and NYC. It never gets old, and the changes in season and weather are captivating!
Fantastic, looking forward to seeing more trips.
Enjoyed the trip to Pittsburgh! Glad you enjoyed the train ride.
Thanks don
I am happy that you and your family enjoy the train ride.
Great this travel video
Thanks for sharing! I'm doing a 5 day/4 night solo train trip in a sleeper cabin across Canada over Christmas this year.
Glad you had a great trip, bummer about the curve.
JP and family I am so glad you all had a great time on your Amtrak train ride, and enjoyed the sights of Pittsburg. I loved seeing the toys r us. Kids r us Simi trailer.close to the train station on your way back. I miss that store very much. Vacations are always a lot of fun, but it is also nice to return home again. You all have a great day. Thank you for the wonderful video.
Glad you all enjoyed it all.
Very nice. You have got to ride the Coast Starlight someday!
Would love to
Love this second part!!!😁😁😁 Thank you for taking us along!🥰🥰🥰 Take care, my friend. See you in the next one!!!🙋🏽♀️👍🏽😍😁💙💙💙
Thanks for checking it out. See you in the next video!
@@JPVideos81 You are welcome!!! 😃😃😃💙💙💙
Very fun trip! I am so glad that you all had a great time. What a beautiful station! Your videos are all so awesome and interesting. I enjoyed them all and learned many things and some great history again. I agree, just looking out the window of the train is so nice and relaxing. Pittsburgh is so beautiful and thank you so much JP!
😊💙
This looked so much fun! I know you had a blast especially for your love of trains.
Absolutely. Cant wait to ride again. Have you ever traveled by Amtrak?
@@JPVideos81 No I never have but I've always wanted to! We have an Amtrak station where I'm from, but I've never seen it as far as I know, but I would definitely love to travel with them. And knowing from your positive reviews with them, makes it where I really would like to someday.
@@thebarefootcountrychick5536 i hope you get too. Take a train and come visit us haha
@@JPVideos81 That would be great, I've always wanted to visit PA as well so it would be a win win trip, get to do 2 things I've always wanted to do lol
Enjoyed this video very much. Very relaxing to watch.
Ty
Loved your trip to Pittsburgh via Amtrak! Really enjoyed all the videos, thanks again!!
Thanks donna
Awesome video JP videos
I love being able to see the back views of the towns that one never gets to see.
Me too 🙂
Noah has watched this 100 times he wants a train ride lol ❤❤❤❤ stay safe love ya
Better book a trip lol
@@JPVideos81 he went along with you lol
Amazing video
I’m so glad you wii travel Amtrak again!! I love it!! I agree with the windows needing washed, the outside is filthy. One time we saw a clean shiny Amtrak and almost didn’t recognize it!! 😂😂😂.
Was the tunnel we went through the one open of the three?
Thanks for taking us along and sharing your trip!! It was fun and interesting!!! Thanks also Jill and Lili for sharing!! 💖💙💖💙💖💙💖
Yes, that was the Gallitzin tunnels
First Amtrak ride? Well Jay you look content and happy. Enjoy!!!
Felt right at home
Looked like a great time JP I would be glued to the window as well thank you for sharing your adventure
Would be fun to do a longer ride through a snow storm.
it was good to see my grandmothers house still stands, and the same color, no she dont live there any more, she passed decades ago, PA is where she lived, i only got to meet her once due to living so far away from chicago, back when i was a child
Wow!! Your trip was so fun. So glad you took us with! I also enjoyed watching the views roll by, so relaxing. Thanks for trying on Horseshoe curve. We still have your awesome videos from there! You have me excited to check in to Amtrak travel. Did Lili catch some😴 on way back from such an early start? Thanks very much to you, Jill, & Lili!🥰😘
I definitely recommend checking out a trip. Lili did good, but was tired once we got home.
When my son was young we would rent a canoe and go up and down the Saint Joe River and like the view from the train window. It’s a view that may be only the early explorers would see who travels the river is now you will see the underside bridges with your mother but then you would also see the river and the banks with you changed very little in hundreds of years
Liked the pass through where the Juniata loco repair shops were and all those NS engines, look like you had a great time!
Its neat seeing them from inside a train
Getting caught up on your vids/vlogs, I like to watch them uninterrupted because they are soooo enjoyable and captivating! This one had many beautiful shots and footage. I hope everyone realizes how much time it takes editing the footage to have it view so seamlessly and smooth not to mention the music and sound, just dreamy, I luv it all! Was thinking of you recently when I was at a train crossing in Kutztown and two trains were passing both directions you would have like it I'm sure. Thank you for this one🔥🔥🔥
Glad I came to mind. I would of enjoyed it.
I think you got the sequence of stations switched. Going west to east, you get to Tyrone first, then Huntingdon. I used to live in the Altoona area.
Great video and series. This was a fun virtual journey.
👍
This might be my favorite video of yours so far! I just loved watching out the window seeing all the sights of Pennsylvania's cities, small towns, countryside, and rail yards. I got to ride trains a lot when I was a kid and this just brings back all those wonderful memories of gazing out the window in wonder at all there was to see. What a total bummer about Horseshoe Curve! Some lucky railfan out there is no doubt enjoying his or her footage of three trains passing through at once lol! Better luck next time, and I'm glad to hear there will be a next time. I'd definitely like to start traveling by train, and next time I go to Florida I may do the Auto Train from Virginia to keep some mileage off my truck. A friend of mine did that a few years ago, got a roomette, and said it was a great experience. Thanks for sharing your experience, and I certainly look forward to your future trips!
I'm definitely looking forward to a longer trip. May do something in the winter to hopefully travel through some beautiful snowy scenes.
@@JPVideos81 that would be lovely to see!
Jay,
Thank you for sharing this adventure, I've got the feeling
this is only the first of many family adventures.
Sincerely,
Rik Spector
🤔😁
Make happen JP . Great trip.
The Union Station is amazing ...so beautiful.. I think the peaceful ride .would put me to sleep and I would miss the sights ..LOL.......Triple track ? Wow ! ......Sorry you missed seeing the Horseshoe Curve again...But glad you enjoyed the overall trip to Pittsburg .. Thank you for taking us along : }.
Take the good with the bad. Im sure ill see it again soon.
Love it jp!
Great ride! Looked like fun!
Love the Phoebe Snow! Have a KLine set with Weaver E8's. Can't wait to put it on display! Also have some vintage Lackawanna timetables that show it going through the Delaware Water Gap.
@@kevinsmith5288 Cool!
Thanks for another great video JP! Glad you enjoyed your Amtrak journey (for the most part), but too bad you got your view obstructed again on Horseshoe Curve! Agree with the observation about the dirty windows. Glad you want to take another Amtrak trip! Definitely check out a roomette, or a bedroom if your family travels with you. There's nothing quite like it!
Will do!
Looked like a fun trip! I agree with you about Amtrak. I take the train up to Chicago for doctors appointments and i love the ride! Very clean inside and the staff are wonderful. Yep,windows could be cleaner, lol. I enjoyed both parts 1 &2 ,thank you JP!
Thanks for watching and riding
This is why I loved travelling by train. I am 52 years old and spent most of my life in New Hampshire. Sure day trips with my mom to various places in New Hampshire was exciting but to be able to travel outside of the 'norm' of where you live and see other small towns, big cities and in between gives you this amazing experience you never forget.
Looks like it was a great trip. Glad Amtrak didn't let you down.
Looks like a lot of fun 😄
Hey lesa
@@JPVideos81 hello 👋Jpvideos
My daughter is a conductor for New Jersey Transit and was just saying how beautiful that station is. 🚉
Nice video. I love riding Amtrak. I dont fly so Ive been on quite a few Amtrak routes. My favorite was Chicago to San Diego. Lots of history and info along the way. Had a sleeper room that was nice. The food was amazing and the attendants are very funny and on top of things. Going through the long tunnel at the great divide was interesting too.
I also watch railfan cams and have seen the horseshoe. Thanks for the video. Makes me want to plan another trip.
Thanks for watching
I thought we'd see RJ standing at one of the crossings waving at you! LOL
Haha
Thanks for this trip, JP. I always wanted to do a train trip but never had the means. I bet it would be different if we weren't in a lockdown. This was a lot of fun.
The mask does take away from some of the enjoyment, but its nice being on a half full train.
Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see a cross country trip! Stay safe.
Glad you had a good trip.
Ty
I took the Pennsylvanian in 2019 but out of Philadelphia. This was by longest Amtrak trip. Westbound the Horseshoe Curve was block but got lucky on the eastbound return trip. I agree with the windows.
It's an enjoyable trip. I'm hoping to take it across the country next year.
Great train travel, I did the Pennsylvania to Philadelphia and have it on my UA-cam channel. I also live in Pittsburgh.
Iam sure glad your trip went well and the train ride was good. You had some great pic and video of the ride. It's OK that no horseshoe curve video itsjust great to see you and family enjoy it. Have a great evening 👋
Thanks
That sucks both times you got no views of the horseshoe curve 😕 l'm like you, the best part of train travel is looking out the window. I went to France with my dad a few years ago and we took the high speed train from Paris to the northern coast. That was my favorite part of the trip!
That would be an experience
Good Evening JP those photos were popping mate..at the end of the day the best part of these trips my friend is the memories you are creating for Lilly Jill and your self 🙂 this was a trip I throughly enjoyed watching None of it bored me at all I saw so many exciting things I've never seen before..I can only imagine how amazing it was in person..Sorry you missed the devils curve again lol If I even got the right my memory is seriously bad..the GG1 loved it and that statue of liberty tiny version on that river proper cool lol, I look forward to more adventures have an amazing week my friend
Memories were definitely made and I'm looking forward to creating and sharing more of them.
@@JPVideos81 +That's the best part mate🙂 I'm looking forward to seeing them
Glad you guys had fun. I would love to take the train through the Rockies or across Canada. Bummer about Horseshoe curve, but that shows how busy that place is. I would have been like you, glued to the window!
I'd love to take a snowy train ride
Thanks so much for sharing your Amtrak experience to Pittsburgh. 🥰🥰
That was excellent great video
Thanks bill
There is a couple that extensively travels on Amtrak. They post on UA-cam under Grounded Travel. They do lots of videos on their favorite routes, tips, tricks, for train travel. Might help you in planning future train travel for you and your family.
Amazing thanks for sharing!
I didn’t know Amtrak would loop up around Duncannon and the Statue of Liberty cool
Its just outside of the Harrisburg yard
It was wonderful to experience this trip with you all. So pleased you had a great time.
Thanks for joining us
Glad you liked your trip. A long distance trip in a bedroom is great out here in the west. Wide open spaces. A tad expensive though. But I think it is worth it. It beats the heck out of flying.
I liked the music you added to the video.
I think its worth the cost with having your own room and included meals. Hoping to experience it in the future.
Awesome trip! It's amazing to see the sights from the railroad! For some reason the scenes are better than what you see from the highway, you would think it would be the opposite, I guess its because I love the railroad so much! Great video! Great views! Thanks for bringing us along!
I agree. Some fantastic views
Hi Jay. The Amtrak seemed like it was cool. I bet it was neat to just sit & watch everything out the window.
Best tv show to watch lol
Yes it is. I don't watch T.V. but I do like to sit & watch your adventures.
I live in Palm Beach and my Sister is in Clearwater. We use Amtrak a couple/few times a month to go back and forth. Just sit back, relax and travel on 🚂
Nice
I normally ride the Amtrak whenever I go to Los Angeles from San Diego to hit up the warm Santa Monica Beaches to do some metal detecting. It’s been over a year and I’m ready to take to the rails again. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Hope you get to ride again soon
(not sure how they are doing it now with the pandemic) Amtrak offers several different cross country train passes. Good for any travel in a certain time period. Very affordable.
When I was younger I took a train from Lancaster PA to Dallas TX.. I remember out around Pitt and through Ohio there was tons of ruins from the steel industry.. You see tons of neat stuff
Great job Jay. I too in the not too distant future, gonna travel out west by Amtrak, thinking maybe Colorado. This COVID stuff put it on a back burner for the time being. 👍✌
I hear ya. It's certainly something everyone should consider doing at some point. Will be much more enjoyable once masks go away.
Thanks it was fun taken the train ride with you let do it again some time 👍
Absolutely
That was a fast ride home. 😉
Haha..speedy service.
Hopefully one day you will be able to take a trip form Scranton to NYC I really hope they really do service from Wilkes-Barre and Scranton I hope they make it happen this time
Maybe one day...
That would be awesome 👌!
The statue of liberty is in duncannon
My experiences on Amtrak have all been similar to yours, and I have memories that will last a lifetime.
It's a great experience
❤️❤️❤️ Amtrak !!!! Took from Texas to Massachusetts and back !!!!! Wow an experience!!
Awesome
That's probably my favorite part of riding the rails. The routes you take are absolutely beautiful, stuff you'll never see by car. Some of these routes are 100 plus years old.
Station in the beginning was absolutely beautiful as well
You're lucky that you live so close to amtrak.
I took a trip out of Harrisburg to Flagstaff.
I knew you’d love it. You love trains so it’s logical to think you’d want to go again. Thanks for bringing us a long. On a side note,, I was just watching about a tunnel in West Virginia through the mountains that was built in the 1850’s. I guess it was finished, but it wasn’t big enough for the new trains and it was never used. Definitely a cool thing to see. I guess another company was going to store gas, and they blocked it off, but it didn’t work out.
Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for taking us with you!! I don't do down town much glad to see the train ride!!
one day before I rode train 42 went around the curve but hit record twice for me not meant to be as well very sadly
at 545 in if you pause there is random pice of railroad track under power tower
Yes! 😊
🚂💙
Thank you for taking us with you
Anytime
AMTRAK is the BEST! My fave is the Silver Meteor from Trenton to Miami. BUT no matter which train you ride, the staff is always SUPER NICE and helpful. The ride is SO relaxing... Amtrak has something GREAT here, we all just have to spread the word.
That was amazing thank you for taking us along
Maybe you and your family could go to Pittsburgh again during the summer and stay a few more days
I rode Amtrak train when I was 7yrs in 1986 form Niagara Falls to nyc , before reaching NYC the lead locomotive was struck by lightning, so we had to switch locomotives
Wow
I traveled over night before on Amtrak from Pittsburgh, PA to Orlando, FLORIDA. coach was crowded at the time cause there wasn't restrictions at that time. Went in coach from Pittsburgh, PA to Washington and than road in sleeper car from Washington DC to Orlando, Florida. The sleeper cars were pretty cool. Didn't get much sleep cause I waa nervous. But if I would do it again I would enjoy a lot more. Plus I was in a small sleeper that was for just 2 people. 👍
I'd definitely do a sleeper myself for a longer trip
after watching this the first time got on face book and found my amtreck video from 2016 and upload it on youtube but its just a short one
I did my first trip from Arizona to New Orleans and than back to California.
Loved it! Train travel is a must do.
I cant wait to do a longer trip
Cool vlog on channel UA-cam
Love these videos. Amtrak has a great future as they continue to upgrade their cars and engines. I always enjoy the content of JP Videos. It's just a shame that I am unable to get through them without constant interpretation from my mom. But she is dealing with serious mental issues as a result of her advanced dementia. Anyway I am sad about your channel changes but, completely 100% understand and totally support you! You're Sunday Night Live was fun. Unfortunately being back to work at 5 am has been a big change for me but, it gives me a free afternoon to catch up on house and yard work. I don't have a life currently but, I won't put my mom in a nursing home. She raised me and took care of me in 2004 when I had Cancer. Yes I'm a survivor and believe I was saved so as I could pay it back to my mom. I will always try and catch your videos and always Jay give it a thumbs up! Please give my warmest regards to Jill and Lili. You are truly blessed with an incredible family and awesome friends. God bless my friend...always Jeff
You never have to apologize or explain for not being able to watch. Take care of yourself and your mom. You're doing the right thing.
Prayers for you & Mum Jeff 🙌 Stay strong!
Riding a train is on my bucket list. I'm glad you had a great time. I want to do that someday soon. You all take care.
You're going to need some models of the rolling stock you rode for your layout...
👍
What a coincidence Jay, I should run across this video. I am planning a trip to visit my daughter in Ohio, by rail. if and when my health improves
Central California Watching
My question is did Jill and Lilly love the train ride from Harrisburg PA to Pittsburgh PA...and did you enjoy your vacation time to
They enjoyed it, but not as much as me. For them it was a way to travel. For me it was about the experience.
i tell my daughter that what you see on trains are the views most people don't want you to see.. lol... backyards, behind businesses, treasures and trash... amtrak definitely has its perks and downsides, but i think you'd love longer in a roomette or sleeper... the prices have gone up, just looked at a one way to cali from midwest in a family room it was over 2k... lol. i hope it goes back down in the future
Prices dropped drastically when the pandemic hit to try and encourage riders to travel, but I noticed the rise again too.
iat times i see Amtrak trains going by my house . only maybe 200 yards away . wonder if you were on one of them ..those Amtrak trains get moving petty fast
Its its along the route I took, its possible. I'll be taking it again pretty soon.
That was an enjoyable trip other than the weather and not being able to see the Horseshoe Curve again Great job JP!
Cant wait to do it again
Glad all of u had a nice time. That's an incredible price. That may interest me because I'm driving close to 50 years, tired of doing so. Does the train rock back and forth much, I experience some dizziness? Good day
Sections of line rock a little, but overall its a smooth comfortable ride
I'm so glad you all had a great trip, it almost makes me want to try Amtrak again. Our one and only trip was about 10 years ago. Anything that could go wrong, did (we did not have an accident). Everyone on the train kept telling us we couldn't judge train travel by this particular trip, it was not the norm, but we were sooo disappointed. We finally made it safely to our destination, 13 hours late. 😒
I'd definitely recommend trying again
Sometimes I take my Grandmother on trips. When we travel Amtrak I rent a room on the train. It's comfortable for her and myself both.
@@MEL2theJ The Pennsylvanian unfortunately doesn't have rooms since its a 9hr trip total, but I'd love to get one for a longer trip.
And I haven't seen the 1st 1 yet :)
😕
@@JPVideos81 there are Alot of Train videos
I did ride Amtrak from Worcester MA to NB at 10 so I am curious
Jay around 6:20ish there was a blue building with a cool star that looked like it belonged on top of a tree. Do you know what the building was?
Not familiar with it, but you might be able to get a name or info by finding it on google maps in Johnstown.
Did JP go to sleep?
