Great ride, have gone out to Harrisburg by Amtrak a few times, did the route all the way to Pittsburgh once. Very scenic, glad you finally got aboard the Pennsylvanian!
As a veteran of many 36 hour marathon train trips to Montana from Ohio, I can say that you really nailed it! YES! From the food to the hang-on-tight when you're walking the aisles, you were spot on. We are actually taking the Empire Builder yet again this summer to visit my dad and family in Montana. I'm SO HAPPY that you finally experienced Amtrak first hand! 😁🥳 Welcome aboard!!
@@JPVideos81 I've always gone coach, the roomettes were out of my price range! They run Superliners west of Chicago. I've always found the coaches to be roomy with lots of leg room. Not sure now because of covid restrictions, but in normal times they also have a lounge car that is basically all glass and you have amazing views! I highly recommend taking the Empire Builder in the summer....the highlight is when you get to western Montana and the train follows the southern edge of Glacier National Park. The views are spectacular!! It travels along the side of the mountains, there is a horseshoe curve 😁 and the beautiful middle fork of the Flathead river is below and visible..I've seen grizzly bear and elk there. And it runs under lots of snowsheds, so that is very cool (avalanche dangers are not a thing back east). If you choose, you can detrain at a couple of stops at Glacier and spend a couple of days there. The train arrives in the Glacier area in the evening, so if you want to see the mountains and the park, summer is the time to go. It's farther north and doesn't get dark until 10p. You just have to keep in mind that it's a looong ride, and i.do spend time standing downstairs in coach watching out the window and stretching my legs. These are normally long trains, lots of cars. Because of the height of the Superliners...16ft tall..you will have to hang on when you walk, or you may end up in someone's lap 😄. They do check your baggage if you desire in Chicago, or you can bring it with you and just store it on the lower level of your coach car for easy access. Never had any issue with anyone messing with the baggage. There is so much more I could tell you, but I will say absolutely go for it!! It is the ride of a lifetime!
Thank you for taking us along with you. It was quite enjoyable. I haven’t been on a train since I was 8. We went to Canada. I remember bits and pieces. What I do remember, I liked. I’d definitely go on another train ride. I have a feeling you’d do it again. Have a good time on your vacation.
You encountered two historical sites. Leaving Harrisburg you crossed the Susquehanna on the Rockville Bridge. The longest stone arch bridge still in use!
Awesome video JP! Great to see all the things from the perspective of the train! This was a exciting trip! Thanks for bringing us along! I'm ready for part 2!
JP this is a wonderful video. I am enjoying riding along with you and seeing the sights with your video. I have rode on this train a couple of times, and it is very relaxing. The food is very good. Thank you for taking us along. You all have a blessed day.
Amazing video JP thank you once again it was nice to see you and your family relaxing and also yourself enjoying what you love to do the most can't wait for part two take care of JP see you soon
So Happy for you! Glad to see you, Jill, & Lili taking a family vacation. I could see the excitement on your face even with your mask on! I really enjoyed watching out the window. So relaxing. I would be ok with the hotdog, however full dining experience would be amazing. Did I say how happy I was for you! Thanks for taking me with. Just Incredible❣🥰
Glad to see you finally took a trip on Amtrak! I have traveled up and down the East Coast on Amtrak! From Massachusetts to Florida and back to Massachusetts! I loved traveling on Amtrak! Waiting for episode 2!
THANK God you made it on the train cool my first train ride with you and your family..... wow it's really moving through some beautiful looking country side of Pennsylvania......how did Jill and Lilly like the train ride .. .....Latrobe PA is where Mister Rodgers and his family is from .....
This was so nice and relaxing! I was seven yrs old when I last took a train with my mother back to her hometown Mansfield Massachusetts! Thank you Jay for bringing back a warm and fuzzy memory. ❤️
Sir, thanks again for these videos. I finally got to go on the Pennsylvanian late last year with my wife and it was a beautiful experience. The scenery was amazing and the ride itself was relaxing and reinvigorating. These are some of the best seats I've ever experienced on mass transit in our 5 hour trip not once did I feel sore or like I was ready for it to end. Hats off to our car attendant who was chatty, likeable and helpful. Thank you for your video which allowed me to ride like I'd been doing it for years because I knew what to expect. Heck, I'm back here watching your video because I miss the trip! Will certainly do another one on our next vacation.
This is so exciting! How fun for you guys to be able to take this trip! It looks so relaxing and the scenery so nice! Loved watching all of it and as always your photos are so beautiful! I am looking forward to the next video! Thank you so much JP!
Oh and I also wanted to add a JP love the sound of the music very soothing relaxing inspectionally with the views and makes a hand in hand perfect way that you did everything thank you once again JP
I would love to travel by train around the Blue Ridge Mtns. There is a train in North Georgia but I have never been there. My son would love it since he is into trains as much as I am. Thank you for taking me on this trip. I enjoyed being there with you and family. Looking forward to part 2.
A fun ride! Thanks for taking us with you! I was about 22 or 23 when my Mom and I went for a train ride for our one and only time! It was only about a 45 minute ride and then it was a bus ride back! It was an experience, but not near as nice as this!
Im so happy for you that you finally got to take a ride on Amtrak. i love train travel. The shaking and difficulty walking the aisle are all part of the fun. Looking forward to part 2/
I have yet to experience a train ride of any kind, the kiddy train at the amusement parks don't count (lol), so in the meantime I will live vicariously through you. Anxiously awaiting Pt. 2!!
JP, this is something I have thought about surprising my husband with. He LOVES trains. We have done several steam trains all over the USA which we have enjoyed. I want to do the Amtrak with a private sleeping cabin. You have pushed me to take action!
Yay Pittsburgh! 😊 The skyline is lovely at night. The Union Station dome is a sight! I've taken the Greyhound in/out of the Harrisburg station back in the day but never seen all that good stuff inside you showed.
I've been on the subway growing up on NYC The Metro train to Connecticut ,the LIRR and the Strasburg RR but sadly never been on an Amtrak train yet. Thank you for making us feel like family and allowing us to come along with yours!
I’m so excited for you, JP! I haven’t watched the video yet but saw the title and had to write this first. I know I’ve mentioned this before but Amtrak has been a staple of long distance travel up and down the East and Southern Eastern Coast in my family for years. Growing up in NY State and visiting SC every summer and then moving to SC many years later and many years later as an adult traveling from SC to FL to visit family. My last Amtrak ride was in 2016 in FL (where I now live) when I visited family again have so many great memories as a pre-teen, teen, and adult being an Amtrak passenger. I’m glad you’ve gotten to experience being a passenger. I can’t wait to watch.
Thanks for sharing, Jay. Brought back pleasant memories are traveling to and from college (Altoona to Latrobe) in the 1960s. Latrobe has a beautiful old historic station. Altoona's old station was razed many years ago with a minimal replacement in terms of character and space. The trip around the curve was always exciting.
I really enjoyed the train trip, reminds me of train journey's I been on in the past, shame about the freight train bring in the way at Horseshoe Curve , hopefully see on the way back.
Awesome video and I'm excited to see the return trip and your answer of "Will you ride it again?" I have been considering taking the train from Kingston, AZ to Richmond, VA of coarse it would be in a bedroom car since it's a 4 day trip. I loved the seeing the towns and scenery on the way. Thank-you for sharing your first leg of the trip. Looking forward to seeing Pittsburg and your experience.
Fantastic voyage sir. Throughly enjoyed the time. Hello to your family. Love the background music. Hint of led zeppelin hang man. Thanks again. Will watch again. Have run. 👍👎😎
I just loved that train station, you boarded on! Beautiful wood work! And loved the play train, that u can turn on. It did look like yours. I was 18 yrs. Old in 1978 when I got to have my first train ride. From Ohio to Virginia Beach, VA. What a ball! LOVED IT! YOU HAVE TO BEEN AT THE KNEES A LITTLE, WHEN YOU WALK ON TRAINS. Just like on boats. Did you figure that out? Someone tell you. You said that you had a hard time. Try that next time. Thank you, once again, for such a fun trip! Oh yeah! In the Cincinnati train station if someone stands in one corner and other person goes clear over to the other side in its corner. They can hear each other & talk to each other! Dome! Fun place in there.
Just the most relaxing trip from beginning to end, so mesmerizing and a hot dog to boot! Glad to see your wonderful family enjoying the trip with you and glad to hear their input as well. Your editing was just so smooth and seamless you did a Great job on this one for sure! So looking forward to the next Amtrak ride with you all!! 🚄 🚅
Hi JP I just got through this one sorry took a few days..so worth it, I've only been on one major train journey that was in Australia going from Sydney to the deep out back, think it took like 11-14 hours,.this reminded me of that adventure. The scenery you shared was fantastic I saw really old farm houses and that huge train yard in Alterdon? Big yard..glad you took us along for the ride thank you..the photo at the end of the train station inside looked amazing with with beautiful timber features..
No worries my friend. There's lots to see from the rails that is often hard or impossible to see from car or plane. Going through the massive train yards is incredible.
Fun video, Jay. I've taken the Acela from Philly to DC a couple of times on business, but have really been thinking of taking the train to Raleigh, NC to visit my best friend. Pretty long trip. Can't wait for your return trip to see what your thoughts are. Nice to see Jill and Lily. Stay safe! ❤️☮️
What a fun surprise . After a tiring shopping trip with Dana it was great to be able to sit , relax and take a train ride with y'all. i love passenger trains. My only trip on one was from S.Ga. to Wash. D.C.on our class trip...lots of fun. I know you enjoyed your trip . Love the music you chose . Looking forward to the videos of your visit and your return trip : }
I enjoyed watching you ride the train JP my mother and I used to take the train from Southern California to Omaha, Nebraska. But now my balance is so bad I don’t know if it be safe for me on the train I don’t need to fall. Thank you for showing us JP Jill and Lily
Hi JP. Looking forward to the Video! But I just wanted to say it's been a long time since I've seen a proper Parking Meter!!! Used to get a lot of them in Africa where I lived for many, many years but here in the UK not a single one in the 22 years I've been back! Right, back to the video!
Awesome Jay! So glad that you are doing this, it's not as bad as some people say it is. Relaxing, and if you got the time, not bad at all. Still different from European train experiences I've had. Very cool that you've included Jill and Lili on your adventure 👍✌
Neat video!! Love those GG1’S! Glad you enjoyed your first Amtrak trip! They had a deal in late November of last year so I booked a trip from Philadelphia to DC, DC to Pittsburgh on the Capitol Limited, then Pittsburgh back to Philly on the Pennsylvanian. All for $110. The down side was only getting a few hours of sleep in Pittsburgh, but would do it again. Thanks for your observations on your first trip, looking forward to your next video. Sorry you had that freight blocking your view on Horseshoe Curve!
Congrats on taking your first train trip!!! I've ridden Amtrak before but only shorter distances (usually Princeton Junction to NYC). I enjoyed this video for so many reasons - super cool to see the GG1 in Harrisburg, you got to ride behind the same type of Genesis locomotive that I own in N scale, loved getting to ride through so many spots you've filmed at before, loved Horseshoe Curve, and just loved hearing your experience of taking a longer trip with them. $42 for a single traveler is an excellent deal for that distance. It probably costs that just in tolls on the PA Turnpike now. It is a shame that that other train blocked so much of your view of Horseshoe Curve. That would've been the time to be the rail fan instead of the passenger there. Hopefully you got to see more on the return trip. Looking forward to that video, but also your videos of Pittsburgh. I've been there a few short times, but would love to explore the city more.
So glad you enjoyed it. 42 bucks for round trip was a deal we couldn't pass up. The upcoming videos will be just as entertaining. Nice coincidence that you have the same locomotive.
Glad to see your Amtrak Adventure. Looking forward to part two. It's a great way to travel. I've made two cross-country trips on Amtrak, one Chicago to California, and the other Dallas to California. The first was in Coach and the second in a roomette. Superliner coach seats recline far enough for comfortable sleeping, and the roomette bed was long enough for me to sleep well. And I'm 6"5".
So Kool!! I went on a train from Indiana to Wyoming when I was 4 yrs old.. That was first time I saw little cone paper cups at a water cooler thing lol. I Dont remember much. Enjoy Jay, What a blast
Oh boy! This is a real good video! I too always wanted to ride Amtrak! I hope to one day take a trip from St. Louis, Mo. To Chicago, Illinois! My Shirley is from there and has an older brother who lives off Lake Shore Drive. This made my rainy day a happy experience Jay!!!! Loved it!!! Can't wait for part II!
Just go do it! You just go buy a ticket and go. If you have a place to stay in Chicago then you can take the L to wherever is closest to your final destination.
Amtrak is a lot nicer than I remember. You are right about the private room. I took the train from Penn Station to Columbia SC years ago. I don’t know if what I had was a roomette, but it had a couch that folded into a bed and a toilet and sink. Great for the 16 hour ride. I also took Metroliner service between Washington and New York. That train could hit 100 miles and hour. Take it from me you didn’t want to be in the bathroom when that thing swung into a curve! Glad you guys had fun.
The terminal in Harrisburg was very pretty and looked historical in some areas.I think you should take a train ride when the foliage is Lush and green because Pennsylvania is so pretty.Anyway this looks like fun and I can tell you really enjoyed it.I enjoyed it very much and wish I could take a train ride.
One great thing about riding when I did was being able to see all the old ruins and unique things hiding in the woods. A summer ride may be in order though.
Im taking the same train tomorrow! From Harrisburg to Pittsburgh. Your video def helped me to feel more comfortable. Its been 11 years since the last time i was on amtrak.😅
Thank you for taking us along for the ride - I have been planning to take my first ride with/on Amtrak and this was a great video - I got to see what a train ride on Amtrak is like and it will be fun 😊💕
Oh wow! I have never ridden on Amtrak either so glad to tag along. I am excited to actually ride through Horseshoe Curve! I did rode a Thailand train from Bangkok up to Dusit Zoo about 50 miles away. Got in the reserved car 'For Monks Only' by mistake (omg!), was panicking but a kind Monk motioned for me to sit down, that it was ok. WHEW!!
Thanks for the video and your comments. I have ridden this train several times as well as the old Broadway Ltd. To Chicago when Amtrak still ran that train. Although the train is on Norfolk Southern tracks every time I have ridden it they have done a good job trying to keep the train on time. You mentioned the train was late arriving Harrisburg so the train most likely missed it’s assigned spot in the NS schedule. So I feel they did a great job keeping your train from not loosing more time on the way to Pittsburgh. By the way that is also most likely reason your view of Horseshoe Curve was blocked. Even going back to the old days of PRR and Penn Central dispatchers did as much as possible to see the view from a passenger train was not blocked by a passing freight train. I hope you had better luck on your return trip.
A trip this past February went much better and I arrived in Pittsburgh 30 minutes early. There are proposed plans to make a dedicated line from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh so that Amtrak won't have to share NS lines.
thanks for sharing this Jp I have ride AmTrak Before and they are pretty cool there a small one in my town i have seen that Stain train yesterday it was pretty cool seen it moving.
Very cool! I Rode Amtrak in 2015 from Philly to VA it was awesome! Had to go scration to take a bus to Philly. Alot of stops in the Baltimore/DC area! I want to do it again sometime!
Thank you, It brought back memories of my 17 year old self going from Philly to Chicago on the P.R.R. in 1959. I loved it, and it was the longest train round trip I've ever taken. What would I change if I could do it like you? I'd wait for the summer when everything was in bloom and hopefully no virus restrictions. When I travelled the dining car was awesome and the menu was top notch. I think that the "bumpiness" is part of the fun, but I can understand JIll and Lili since they aren't into it like us:) Cheers, Rik
That was a very enjoyable video. 👍👍👍Nice to see you could make it a family trip, but they don't seem 100% sold on riding the trails. The Harrisburg station is like stepping back in time. Really beautiful. I had wanted to take Amtrak to either Washington DC or NYC. I was going to take the Accela down and take the regular back to compare the two. But then COVID had to happen. I still would like to do that, but l think l will wait until things get back to more normal.
I would love to travel long distance on a train. In the beginning trains were a necessity to help built a country. In their heyday they were a convenience to travel from place to place. I do believe trains of today are more of a luxury, still being a great way to travel distances with a feel of a bygone era. No matter what time period you focus on, a train will always be a magic carpet. Thanks for a really great video.
I love riding Amtrak. We took Amtrak as a family to Harrisburg PA when my son was getting married in Duncannon, PA. We also took the Amtrak to Raleigh, NC when my brother was getting married. We can even take the Amtrak into the State of Maine to Saco, Maine. It is such a wonderful ride and I can't wait to travel again in the future by Amtrak. We traveled from Boston, Massachusetts through New York City and many places along the way. I have many photos on my FB I can share of our trips. :)
Hi jp enjoyed the train ride always ready for that the scenery was lovely and enjoyed the music good to see jill and lilly we only have one train up here called the ghan havent been on it yet thanks for showing 😊
This is exciting. I love riding the Amtrak. I remember my first train ride in elementary school on a class day trip teaching us about the trains. Funny my first plane ride was on a JROTC class trip in a C130. It flew us around all day all over the southern states. And it did the in air refueling. That was so cool. They had a viewing area where you laid down and could watch as the refueling plane came and hooked up to it. Amazing stuff. I had suggested an idea you take a trip on the Amtrak in one of those roomettes. Take that one to California. It seems fun and awesome views. That's a trip on my to do list one day. I've only traveled as far as NYC on the train from VA.
I ride that train quite often...Love it. I am planning a ride to the west coast and back in the near future, Will have a roomette for that. Been riding trains since the early 60s because Dad got free passes because he worked for the PRR, Penn Central, and finally Conrail. Enjoy your visit...check out Station Square and by all means, the Mt. Washington incline. I'm from back in that area but live in Hershey now.
So cool man! I heard that Amtrak funding is getting expanded. Didnt know Amtrak ran across PA like that! You should take a vacation and ride the Amtrak across the country! Out west is beautiful!
been to the huntingdon station! the seats on that train are different than the blue ones, did they renovate? prices of food on the train is usually expensive.. lol! but i get wanting the full experience on the first ride! bummer about the dining cars.. they always had good food! i'm hoping all this covid stuff is over before my next train trip... my next one will be cross country in a family or living room sleeping car! but i want the food back first.. lol! glad you got this trip in the books!
How fun is that ? We went on a train ride from rochester ny to Toronto and from there we went to north bay , Montreal and Quebec. We were on the train so long I felt like I was still riding when we got off the train .
I’m going on a 21 hour trip from Harrisburg to Jacksonville Florida
Good to see You Jill and and Lili happy and relaxed and making a video together 💙 Looking forward to part 2👍
Great ride, have gone out to Harrisburg by Amtrak a few times, did the route all the way to Pittsburgh once. Very scenic, glad you finally got aboard the Pennsylvanian!

Very nice train ride and love the scenery, you’re headed to my hometown of Pittsburgh! Can’t wait to watch the other videos!
Thanks for taking us along. Enjoy your stay. Be well.
Nice, nice video! Imagine this ride in mid-October, during the peak of the fall foliage.

In the Cincinnati train station if someone stands in one corner and other person goes clear over to the other side in its corner. They can hear each other
& talk to each other! Dome! Fun place in there.
The walking will take some practice, but I did better on the way home haha
Just the most relaxing trip from beginning to end, so mesmerizing and a hot dog to boot! Glad to see your wonderful family enjoying the trip with you and glad to hear their input as well. Your editing was just so smooth and seamless you did a Great job on this one for sure! So looking forward to the next Amtrak ride with you all!! 🚄 🚅
It was the perfect little mid week get away and traveling by train was just an incredible experience.
@@JPVideos81 +I was definitely most impressed I hope your stay and return trip was just as exciting if not more mate
What a great idea. Love the video, can't wait for the rest.
Stay safe! ❤️☮️
Very nice and relaxing 😌. I’d totally prefer this over driving that far or even flying. Seems like a good deal too 👍🏻
You summed it up. Affordable and relaxing with amazing views.
Ahh...love this. Took my kids to Union Station in DC (from NC) many years ago. Fun
This is so exciting🤗
What a fun surprise . After a tiring shopping trip with Dana it was great to be able to sit , relax and take a train ride with y'all. i love passenger trains. My only trip on one was from S.Ga. to Wash. D.C.on our class trip...lots of fun. I know you enjoyed your trip . Love the music you chose . Looking forward to the videos of your visit and your return trip : }
Glad you were able to unwind on our train ride. Hope it didnt rock you to sleep haha
@@JPVideos81 ....'bout did ! LOL
Hi JP, I enjoyed your trip to Pittsburgh! Be sure to visit the Duquesne Incline for great views of the 3 rivers.
I enjoyed watching you ride the train JP my mother and I used to take the train from Southern California to Omaha, Nebraska. But now my balance is so bad I don’t know if it be safe for me on the train I don’t need to fall. Thank you for showing us JP Jill and Lily
Thanks you and Have a great time. 👍 awesome views and I've been though PA, but in a simi. Love riding train when I get the chance.
As a train lover, it's hard not to enjoy it. Overall its a great, relaxing and fun way of traveling.
I hope to do longer trips in the future.
Nice relaxing video. I loved the shots out the window. My only experience with AMTRAK was going to New Haven, CT to see a Bob Dylan concert in 1975.
It's interesting to see how remote some of the areas are and can only be seen by rail.
Stop in Lancaster, pick me up lol
😁
Please! I'd love 2 ride the Pennsylvanian to Pittsburgh! Send me a ticket! Lol
Pretty cool. Thx fir sharing. See ya on the return. Have fun.
Nice ride. I've always wanted to travel by Amtrak. So far the longest train ride I've been on was the steam train on the Western Maryland Scenic RR.
It's a great way to travel
Glad to see your Amtrak Adventure. Looking forward to part two. It's a great way to travel. I've made two cross-country trips on Amtrak, one Chicago to California, and the other Dallas to California. The first was in Coach and the second in a roomette. Superliner coach seats recline far enough for comfortable sleeping, and the roomette bed was long enough for me to sleep well. And I'm 6"5".
Thanks love the train ride i really enjoyed watching the video can wait to see the next one👍
So Kool!! I went on a train from Indiana to Wyoming when I was 4 yrs old.. That was first time I saw little cone paper cups at a water cooler thing lol. I Dont remember much. Enjoy Jay, What a blast
😁💙
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I hope to do a longer trip in the future.
Just go do it! You just go buy a ticket and go. If you have a place to stay in Chicago then you can take the L to wherever is closest to your final destination.
Back in the 80's my parents took Amtrack from MI to Ca. They loved it! and of course was way cheaper back then
Fantastic train ride. Nice scenic views. Awesome price for what you get.
aww fun time. I use to ride Amtrack between CLE, Pittsburgh and Philly a number of times during college. I experienced horseshoe curve a few times.
Definitely a fun and enjoyable time
Awesome ride JP video
Amtrak is a lot nicer than I remember. You are right about the private room. I took the train from Penn Station to Columbia SC years ago. I don’t know if what I had was a roomette, but it had a couch that folded into a bed and a toilet and sink. Great for the 16 hour ride. I also took Metroliner service between Washington and New York. That train could hit 100 miles and hour. Take it from me you didn’t want to be in the bathroom when that thing swung into a curve! Glad you guys had fun.
Gonna take some practice walking the aisles on curves at higher speeds lol
The terminal in Harrisburg was very pretty and looked historical in some areas.I think you should take a train ride when the foliage is Lush and green because Pennsylvania is so pretty.Anyway this looks like fun and I can tell you really enjoyed it.I enjoyed it very much and wish I could take a train ride.
One great thing about riding when I did was being able to see all the old ruins and unique things hiding in the woods. A summer ride may be in order though.
@@JPVideos81 yes that is true .
Im taking the same train tomorrow! From Harrisburg to Pittsburgh. Your video def helped me to feel more comfortable. Its been 11 years since the last time i was on amtrak.😅
Enjoy your trip
Thank you for taking us along for the ride - I have been planning to take my first ride with/on Amtrak and this was a great video - I got to see what a train ride on Amtrak is like and it will be fun 😊💕
It's a great experience and way of traveling
WHEW!!
Haha
Great job looking forward to part two.
👍
My first was the Silver Meteor! Awesome!!!♥️♥️♥️
Awesome trip so far guys!! Can’t wait for the next video!! 👍🏻❤️
thanks for sharing this Jp I have ride AmTrak Before and they are pretty cool there a small one in my town i have seen that Stain train yesterday it was pretty cool seen it moving.
When's the last time you rode it?
@@JPVideos81 the last time I ride one was back in 2016 a trip to Chicago
Back in July of 2020 I was at Harrisburg Amtrak Station to railfan. Didn't get any Amtrak but I did get three NS Trains, two were racing. Nice video!
NS passed by the station several times when I was there.
This is on my bucket list.
I used to ride Amtrak between Richmond and DC back in the day...lol. Cool to see what a current ride is like! 👍😎
Lucky you 🤣
Very cool! I Rode Amtrak in 2015 from Philly to VA it was awesome! Had to go scration to take a bus to Philly. Alot of stops in the Baltimore/DC area! I want to do it again sometime!
It's certainly a unique experience and nice way to travel.
Thank you,
It brought back memories of my 17 year old self going from Philly to Chicago on the P.R.R. in 1959.
I loved it, and it was the longest train round trip I've ever taken.
What would I change if I could do it like you?
I'd wait for the summer when everything was in bloom and hopefully no virus restrictions.
When I travelled the dining car was awesome and the menu was top notch.
I think that the "bumpiness" is part of the fun, but I can understand JIll and Lili since they aren't into it like us:)
Cheers,
Rik
That was a very enjoyable video. 👍👍👍Nice to see you could make it a family trip, but they don't seem 100% sold on riding the trails. The Harrisburg station is like stepping back in time. Really beautiful. I had wanted to take Amtrak to either Washington DC or NYC. I was going to take the Accela down and take the regular back to compare the two. But then COVID had to happen. I still would like to do that, but l think l will wait until things get back to more normal.
That would make for an interesting trip
I would love to travel long distance on a train. In the beginning trains were a necessity to help built a country. In their heyday they were a convenience to travel from place to place. I do believe trains of today are more of a luxury, still being a great way to travel distances with a feel of a bygone era. No matter what time period you focus on, a train will always be a magic carpet. Thanks for a really great video.
Thank for making this video it helped me a lot I’m talking a train from Philadelphia to Greenberg and it my first time and I’m a little nervous
They take care of everything and it's an enjoyable trip. I'll be on it again next month.
Thanks for checking it out
This is exciting.
California or Seattle are two I'm considering and will definitely book a roomette.
10:15 viewliners are the long distance single level sleeper, cafe, and baggage cars. you were riding in an amfleet I or II
👍
I ride that train quite often...Love it. I am planning a ride to the west coast and back in the near future, Will have a roomette for that. Been riding trains since the early 60s because Dad got free passes because he worked for the PRR, Penn Central, and finally Conrail. Enjoy your visit...check out Station Square and by all means, the Mt. Washington incline. I'm from back in that area but live in Hershey now.
Be on the lookout for upcoming videos
So cool man! I heard that Amtrak funding is getting expanded. Didnt know Amtrak ran across PA like that! You should take a vacation and ride the Amtrak across the country! Out west is beautiful!
I'm definitely considering it.
Neat I’m from Pittsburgh!!!
Lots of Pittsburgh content coming out soon
This was a very relaxing video. 😌 I lived in Pittsburgh from 1988-2002 and never went to the train station downtown. 😔
I have lots of Pittsburgh content coming out
been to the huntingdon station! the seats on that train are different than the blue ones, did they renovate? prices of food on the train is usually expensive.. lol! but i get wanting the full experience on the first ride! bummer about the dining cars.. they always had good food! i'm hoping all this covid stuff is over before my next train trip... my next one will be cross country in a family or living room sleeping car! but i want the food back first.. lol! glad you got this trip in the books!
We had nice leather seats so it must be updated. The food is cheaper than the movie theaters, so its not soooo bad lol
How fun is that ? We went on a train ride from rochester ny to Toronto and from there we went to north bay , Montreal and Quebec. We were on the train so long I felt like I was still riding when we got off the train .
Was it an enjoyable trip?
Wow. Your first train ride ?!
First Amtrak trip. Have only done short excursions before.
What an amazing experience! definitely a cooler option than driving the insane turnpike to Pitt. 🚂💨
It could of taken twice as long and I'd still enjoy it because.... it's a train!
