    Thank you for tuning in! I hope you like my reaction videos. This is titled 'Dave Reacts to Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera - "Nessun Dorma" Austin Brown and Rob Lundquist. I've heard several versions of this aria, but wasn't expecting this coming from these two. Come on...let's admit it already. We all know they just aren't country, but I think Austin wanted to make a statement with this title LOL...This was amazingly sung by both Austin and Rob.

    Hey Home Fries!Sorry I had to re-upload this video. I'm still messing with the settings to see what I can do with the YT algorithms, copyright blocks, etc. and so I tried speeding the video up which turned out to be ABSOLUTE CRAP (at least according to my taste...) so we'll try this one out and hope it's to our liking .
    On an awesome note: I literally uploaded that video for less than a minute and you all were already commenting on the video telling me your suggestions! It makes me feel good you all are watching ! As always Home Fries, thanks for the feedback. It's always appreciated so I can make my videos better for you all!! Let's enjoy this new, better version (Pst...you can be honest and tell me it's crap too LOL). Don't forget to put your song suggestions in the comments and to like and subscribe! See you on my next one !

    I'm with you in that I never really cared for opera and don't listen to it very often. But these two guys just blew my mind with their rendition. Austin I think knew that Rob had this wonderful talent that not many had experienced . So maybe he dared Rob with " if you'll do it I will" and gave Rob the opportunity to shine. I was totally surprised 😲 and impressed. ❤🥰

      I think you're spot on🙂. Rob's voice fits this aria 🎶 and I think with Austin and Rob together it blends fantastico 💯 🤯! I feel like Austin's voice may work for an Opera buffa where it's a bit more cheerful and a high tenor may be able to work. Nevertheless, great job as a group! 🍟🎶

    • @janhankins911
      @janhankins911 Рік тому

      I believe Rob studied opera in college and had the opportunity to sing opera professionally. He chose, instead, to go with Home Free. Opera missed out on a great talent, but I'm glad he chose Home Free. His talent is a lot more accessible to people (not many people listen to opera) and he has an opportunity to introduce people who don't usually listen to opera to some of its greatest arias. I really hope he and Austin will do another aria.

    • @patriciamcl54
      @patriciamcl54 Рік тому

      Not sure what you mean by "resonance." Reactors with training and experience in opera plus wider fields have commented that Austin is a lyric tenor, but that such voices are in great demand and that as a particularly fine lyric tenor, if he wanted to, he could find work in opera or operetta, as well as the musical theatre for which he trained. Rob's voice is lovely but there isn't as much call for that heavier Italian-style tenor as there used to be. Such operatic composers as Britten, Maxwell Davis or Birtwhistle, not to mention the contemporary composers being produced now, avoid the Italian style on the whole.
      People have attributed the difference in the voices to training but in fact it is inborn like height. Austin could have had any number of years of operatic training (as his tutors wanted him to ) and he would have come out as a lyric tenor. And as I said, all the more employable for it.

    How great to have a reactor to this aria who actually knows something about it! and who can explain the (truly insane) plot of Turandot so clearly.
    Top marks too for having realised from previous listening that Rob could deal with this. In his solos in the Sea Shanty Medley, you can hear that larynx dropped in a fully trained way.
    There's been some rather ignorant reacting and commenting on this piece, mainly from people who seem to think that opera stopped and never changed around 1920 and that only the Italianate style is opera. Of course it is alive and growing, perhaps more now than before, and in fact Austin's true lyric tenor would be more useful. In the UK we love us a lyric tenor, from the great Peter Pears onward, while the Italian classics are a little unfashionable. Both guys were really nervous about how their fans would react, or if they would be seen as aiming above their abilities, but need not have worried!
    A terrific reaction. Thank you.

      I have Sea Shanty Medley on my list to do as well. I can't wait to check that one out 🎶. Rob's vocal strength was able to pull this one off perfectly since it had that dramatic resonance 🎙️. Austin's voice is bright and cheerful. I said in another comment that I think he would do really well in an opera buffa 🌞, but when they sung parts as a duo it was perfecto 🤌🍟🎶

    This is insane. Wow, wow and again wow. This is extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed. His voice is just magical, so rich, so warm, so powerful. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. He will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers many times in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible..

Austin went on to say that he thought he'd been okay but that Rob was fantastic. I love the way they support each other. Rob had extensive opera training (but hadn't sung it in 15 years - Austin had sone but his degree is in Musical Theater).

Rob actually put me in tears when I first heard this because he reminded me of one of the greats, Luciano Pavarotti with his depth and resonant voice. Ditto 👍 I expected Rob to do really well with this from my understanding of his opera background in college. If anyone is interested in opera, a great book is Milton's Stories of the Great Operas. Frankly, almost all operas have a convoluted (rather inane) story to them though. It was a nice crossover with Rob singing opera and Austin singing musical theater . Austin is far too nasal but still works within the confines of a crossover. Rob would have had a wonderful opera career if he had chosen that path. I'm glad they chose a capella.

      Rob went absolute beast mode on this as his voice really resonates. Austin's was a good too but did lack the deeper long note required for the aria. His voice is awesome as a high tenor and I think it would fit a different aria (more cheerful)! When they sang as a duo through, it was absolutely awesome!! Both really played their parts well🍟💯

      @patriciamcl54 Рік тому

      Just to remind you that although Rob is a fine singer, he did not find any work in opera when he was younger. Reactors with experience in opera have commented that Austin (who you seem to despise for an accident of birth) as a fine lyric tenor is endlessly employable. The heavier Italian-style tenor is not so much in demand these days. Contrary to what some believe, there is no technical difference between singing in opera and singing in musical theatre, so the difference which you think you hear is not down to talent or technique but the simple unchangeable inborn character of the voices and the configuration of the vocal cords.

    Great synopsis of Turandot! I'm with you--Austin and Rob slew this. I grew up hearing Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma, so to say they killed this is saying something indeed, because I go right to Pavarotti as a comparison.

      Awesome! Thanks for the kind words🙏. I headed towards Pavarotti as well. Hearing it play over and over during the World Cups and also in the '94 concert (with the Three Tenors) I've always felt that this was Pavarotti's song. It was great to hear how great of a duo Rob and Austin were on this one 🤯🍟💥
