I like that they say “try,” and leave it to the listeners to decide if they succeeded. I’m no expert on the fine technical aspects of opera, but after a couple dozen listens I’m STILL getting full-body chills. This is gorgeous.
Alot of people dismiss music they can't dance to. But if you open up your heart and mind and listen, the beauty and power of opera will awaken all your emotions. Simply beautiful !!!
This is why Home Free is so amazing. They didn't want to be the token country group on The Sing Off, and this shows why. You can't pigeonhole them and say they just do country. They are simply amazing singers, no matter what genre.
Yes! I love Home Free and their voices, but I don't like country music. I will watch any of their videos that aren't country though, over and over again!
You aren't the first reactor I've seen speechless and overwhelmed by their performance. I think pretty much everyone is in shock over how incredible this was. They were a perfect paring for this.
This is an out of body experience. I ask myself how is it possible for them to be any more talented then we already know them to be and they sing this beautiful song for us. My heart is full.
So impressed. I knew Austin studied theatre but never realized what an amazing operatic timbre Rob has. Beautifully done guys. Thanks for your time and great reaction. Peace and love.
It’s funny to think that the producers of the Sing Off didn’t want Rob to sing lead, only Tim and Austin. I’m so glad the guys refused, and have always been each other’s champion. A huge THANK YOU to Austin for this idea. Rob’s voice is gorgeous, but this was transcendent.
That's the first thing that came to mind after I saw this the first time & after I wiped my eyes! I wonder how the Sing Off goofballs would feel about Rob NOW? I hope they hear it because Rob shoved it in their faces on this one!😂😉😊
When I heard the critique that Rob started a bit off on 'Colder Weather' I went back and listened several times. No, sorry judge, you're wrong. I've seen and heard them in concert twice. I've never heard a sour note from 100% Reliable Rob.
I knew in my heart that Rob could do this and I am so glad they did this so we could hear it. Rob studied opera in college but hasn't used it in 15 years. So they were understandably nervous about it. On occasion, it would sneak out in behind the scenes videos when he was not really trying but man...he brought it!!! So amazed by this. It was perfection to my ears!
Nessun Dorma is always an emotional experience when it's well sung. I remember the legendary concert in Rome where this solo aria was sung by Carreras, Pavarotti and Domingo - we watched it on TV and got the recording. But i don't remember it having the same shattering emotional effect as this performance has had on so many people. You are not alone in your physical symptoms, Dave. Is it just because we already know and love these guys? I don't think so, because I know that if it hadn't been sung so well we would have just said Well tried, fellers. This is magical. The division between the two is interesting. The first part that Rob sings says that no-one will sleep, including the princess whose hand he is trying to win. Austin's first part declares that he will never give up the secret of his identity until he prints it on her lips in a kiss. Rob the says the kiss will dissolve the silence (the princess must guess his name by dawn or marry him - yeah, I know) but on the stage Austin's second part is sung by a female chorus offstage, saying that everyone must die. The Prince then gains courage and looks forward to the dawn, when he will win the princess (who by the way is a pretty nasty piece of work). So the whole piece moves forward to the light. What to say about their voices? Rob's heavier, almost baritone, voice blends perfectly with Austin's lyric tenor. But where has Rob been hiding this voice? Does this mean he's been singing half-voice all these years??
Rob studied opera in college 15 YEARS AGO. OMG!!!! not too shabby for not doing opera in 15 years ❤❤ When they premiered it I didn't breath the whole time I think I was afraid to lol. You will never hear Rob sing the same again. We were all flabbergasted and in tears. I truly think Opera Is Robs calling but no I don't want him to leave Home Free.
Isn’t this amazing? Dave, I wasn’t sure if you were in shock, holding your breath or holding back tears (or all three) but this clearly affected you. I get chills every time. Thanks for your great reaction.
When I first heard this performance I think I stopped breathing. I was having a difficult time trying to maintain my emotions. I thought I might explode! I had the ugly cry going on! Our guy's are incredibly talented. We are truly blessed to have them in our lives! Phenomenal and Perfect! Thanks Dave! Sending love from South Georgia ♥️😀🍟🤯
Wow, what a reaction! This rendition has me in tears by the end, every single time I hear it, which never happens to me with opera. Austin's voice hasn't the depth and richness of Rob's but nonetheless he did brilliantly. There's nothing more to say about Rob, he smashed it. Brilliant.
A couple of weeks ago I saw Rob on his Facebook page saying he is going to have a another gig........ 😳 I know he is a great tenor, but could not envision opera .The performance is far above a try. This is on a professional 👏👌level. Don't underestimate to Home Free talent. Watch out Broadway!!!!!!!

There's something so special about sharing such a heartfelt reaction with another when seeing or hearing something beautiful. I truly appreciate how you show honest emotion.
I knew that you were going to love this!!! I don't care much for Opera & I was mesmerized from the very first note!!! I agree that they did not "try" to sing Opera. They took us to church!!! 😃 🙏😇
This performance by Rob & Austin was truly angelic. I love how you closed your eyes. I really feel that that's what is missing in reaction videos. I think that we are really influenced by what what we see & that it can skew our 1st impression of things. Especially music. I'm from the transistor radio generation. When we 1st heard a song we almost never saw the artist sing it for the 1st time. We usually didn't see them sing it until they showed up on American Bandstand or shows like The Ed Sullivan Show or when we got to see them play live. I think that music needs to be felt & you did that. I would like to see reactors listen 1st with their eyes closed so that they can shut out the visual influences & stimulations. Then rewatch it & see the artist perform the song. I think the reactions would be purer both times. You would have the version where the reactor "felt" the lyrics & music & then the visual reaction. I love watching you react to Home Free. They, among others, are just so damn talented. Keep up the good work. 😉👍🏼
Completely agree, TJ. I too grew up transistorized, listening to WLS Chicago with Wolfman Jack. Never attended a live performance of song till I was 25, and it was The Statler Brothers in Cleveland, Ohio. This beautiful piece of opera by our Home Free gentlemen made me cry tears of pride and joy over their gorgeous accomplishment. I watched first, being a visual learner, then closed my eyes for the auditory information, but how ever we choose to hear, it was superb.

I think they can stop calling themselves "country" singers. They and the rest of the Home Free guys can basically sing anything. And they have. Butts Remix to Nessun Dorma. Amazing talent. And what a great reaction from you. Your face when Rob took off was priceless.
I absolutely loved your genuine, heartfelt reaction. "Nessun Dorma" will always be one of my favorite compositions, and these two did the aria justice. I watched your reaction to Pavarotti's performance a long time ago, and your understanding of opera seems to have grown quite a bit.
This performance didn't surprise me in any way. I knew it was only a matter of time before one or both of them tackled an opera selection. After hearing the power and beauty of their voices in the context of Home Free, it's not a huge leap to imagine this performance. Rob studied classical music in college and Austin's musical theater background is a solid basis for opera. There is nothing vocally Home Free can't do. Sometimes collectively, sometimes individually. They are like a box of chocolates. The variety and strength of their musicality is mind blowing. Rob and Austin crushed this. I've hear this aria performed by people who sing opera professionally and Rob and Austin's performance for me was more relatable and beautiful. They should be so proud. It brought me to tears, as well. Thanks for a great reaction.
Rob was trained in opera in college but has not sung any since then (15 years ago). When Austin was in college his teachers tried to get him to switch from Musical theatre major to opera. Austin came up with and push an at first reluctant Rob into doing this project. While I know absolutely nothing about opera this sounded very nice. I am glad convinced Rob to do this and show us fans a totally different side to their musical talent. Thank for your reaction and have a blessed day.
He didn’t sing it publicly, but I don’t know how he sounds like this unless he kept it up in practice. What he’s doing here takes a LOT of hard, hard work.
Also, as for Austin, I’m not surprised they tried to get him to sing opera. He’d have been fantastic-he has a glorious voice. He isn’t an opera singer now-he’s clearly going for a brighter, more “country/contemporary” sound, but he sounds amazing.
I don't how in the H3LL I let this slip past me, it was done a year ago!!! This was ABSOLUTLY AMAZINGGGGGGG!!!!!! I know the great Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo are smiling with much approval of this performance. BRAVO!!!! BRAVO!!!!
From what I understand Rob was actually trained in Opera. They made me cry the first time I heard it. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
Speaking of "country" singers showcasing themselves in opera. I believe Tennessee Ernie Ford studied opera and sang an aria or two. I know he sang more than Big Bad John and I Owe My Soul To The Company Store. Rob has the physique for opera. Large chest, great for breath control and singing those beautiful notes. Austin is no slouch, but the richness and depth to Rob's voice was astounding.
Dave, this was the 4th of 5th time I’ve watched them perform this and I’m still floored but watching you watch/listen to this was almost as moving. Thanks for your reaction/analysis.
The ear knows when it hears a trained operatic voice. Rob seems to be in the same tradition as Luciano Pavarotti. Very impressive on this piece. If what I am saying is over the top, I am sorry but to me Rob seems as though he could sing opera anywhere and receive standing ovations.
I was reading comments on their video and someone who spoke the language said that not only their vocal performance, but even their pronunciation of it was perfection.
They both have had classical training. Rob studied opera in university but not done in over 15 years. Rob said he played this for his dad on Fathers Day and his dad cried. Completely understand because I did too
OK, I'm shocked. I would have thought, as care free, fun loving, and ' tongue in cheek ' as Home Free can be at times (Butts Medley/Remix, and that type of music) that this was going to be one of those " it's so bad, its good" type of renditions . I was so wrong, it is so good it is great. Thank you Dave for finding this.
There weren't enough facial expressions to adequately cover this work by Rob & Austin, but you hit them all and then some. 😀 Your reactions never let me down, Dave... and this song was just beyond.
OMG you might just be my favourite reactor EVER...for you to be able to appreciate ALL genres to tears is absolutely amazing!!! LOVE you, Dave (in a totally non-creepy way)!!!
In the BTS video Rob and Austin both said they studied opera in college. Rob also said he sang this for his father on Father's Day. I was hoping you would react to this. Mesmerizing! No genre is off limits.
I am not a big opera fan so I don't know all the technicalities of this particular genre of music, but I am a Home Fry and I certainly enjoyed listening to Rob and Austin singing this. I know that some of the reactors to Home Free are opera singers and I am waiting for them to react to this. I certainly enjoy all your reactions to our boys in Home Free and your personal insights. The Home Fries have all ways said that Home Free are not just country singers but cover all genres of music and did they ever prove that here.
Hey, Dave, did you like it? Just kidding - it was written all over your face within the first 3 notes - you were wiped out! Love you so much for your honesty.
I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.
I've watched many reactions to this version already, and left many comments. But to you and your reaction, I'm not gonna talk about Rob and Austin this time. I'm gonna talk about you and your reaction.. LOL !! I had to laugh at your response. You started what... 10 sentences and didnt finish any of them and then you asked, " You know what I mean though right? " LOL !! Sometimes you're so funny. Even though you're not trying to be..❤
Hey Dave! Great reaction. I honestly thought at first that it was going to be funny, and I think that is what they had in mind just to throw people off. However, it's like I've said several times before, these guys could sing the label on a bottle of cyanide and make it appealing. Great job for these boys.
You got that right about them sounding near perfect! I already knew that Austin has the chops being he majored in musical theater and hearing him sing “Bring Him Home” from Les Mis”, but Rob really brought it like I’ve never hear before. I thought “End of the Road” was brilliant and his vocals were excellent, but this blew my mind the first time I watched it. Great reaction and commentary, Dave!
Breathtaking wasn't it Dave? When their video dropped my mouth fell open, I literally froze and the tears started falling. I've said this elsewhere and I'll say it here too. I adored Luciano Pavarotti and this was always his signature piece. Rob's and Austin's performance was sheer perfection.
This group of guys from Home Free have reached legendary status in their ability to crossover to so many genres and do them with exquiste capablity. They literally have covered nearly 10 genres and do justice with all of them. They entertain at a very high level and don't put out junk.
Respect that you understand how Amazing this really is. Yes, I read that Mr. Rob studied Opera in college. But had not sang it in about 15 years. Listening to this performance, I am thinking, yeah, maybe not in public, but Mr. Rob has been secretly singing somewhere to somebody. 😊
One of the ironic things about opera is that perfection is based upon hitting the exact notes in the exact place the same way every time. True opera does not allow improvisation except within the singers limits. No opera singer was ever called a star because of their improv skills. Every opera singer is judged on the same standards. Every other musical genre welcomes good improv, it is a main part of jazz and blues. Despite their amazing history of improv, Rob and Austin have shown they are incredible singers who can "follow the rules" of opera as well as anyone. There are several professional opera singers who have reacted to Home Free. This performance will "flip the script" on them.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee If it was "very important" why did they limit it to a tiny space at the end of a big number? It sounds like whoever was in charge was throwing the improv crowd crumbs. There is a difference between genuine improv and the physical/musical differences of the performer. Even the historic greats have tiny differences in their vocal ability. You can't say that Pavarotti did it wrong because he wasn't identical to Jussi Bjorling.
So happy to watch your reaction ☺. They really did sound fantastic and professional. Our boys are so talented but HomeFrys already know this. I always look forward to your reactions. Your facial expressions say what all of us are feeling.😲 🥰🥰
I went back and listened to Pavarotti and Bocelli's renditions and as for me, I enjoyed Rob and Austin's cover every bit as much. It never hurts to do a little research. I found the lyrics, Italian and English together. Also the story behind the song. That makes it so much more interesting. Thanks for your excellent review.❤️😊
I'm in shock, and still wondering if this is actually real or not! If it's real, this is absolutely amazing beyond words! So, there really is a reason why the "Grand Ole Opry" is called the "Grand Ole OPRY"!!
I just knew how much you would enjoy this beautiful performance. It fits well with your tender, emotional side that comes out when you relate things about your wife and children. Thanks so much for doing this and be safe and well.
I’ve been watching your channel- sporadically- about a year (coming off the pandemic who the hell really knows 🤦♀️) Today I learned (saw an older reaction of yours in my feed) you are a digital artist. (Yo!!!! Damn! Do you ever discuss Art??? - I would be so up for that!??) I also learned you are an opera fan (far more technically versed than I am) And that Rob and Austin are so not afraid to stretch. That their love of making music leads them into a wider apprehension of the musical arts. They were sooooo good! It’s easy to go too far, and to go Not Far Enough. They were careful in their choices- how they sustained, how they blended, vibrato control, emotive expression, timbre, tone….. It really bears a few re-watches on their channel- and I’m so happy I tuned in today! Thanks!!
What a great reaction! Yes, this is insane. It is extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed. His voice is just magical and so rich. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. He will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible..
Had to stop before you started. I can't wait to see your reaction. Why do I think is going to explode? Maggie, I think you have to pair up with Rob for your opera stuff. Okay, now I'm ready. Edit: And there you have it. Opera...tion finished. Into the recovery room!
Absolutely beautiful. Their performance and your reaction! 😉 And to think they were nervous about posting it. I'm sure they didn't expect this blowing up with so much attention & LOVE. 🥰🥰
Thank you so much for reacting to this song. It is amazing how well Rob and Austin sang such a beautiful song. I don't listen to Opera much at all, but when I do, it really can get to me. You did the reaction so very good, much appreciated.
It is Italian. The story is of a prince who is waiting through the night to enter a competition in the morning. He must answer the three questions the Princess Turendot will ask. If he answers incorrectly he will lose his head, but he is not afraid. He is confident that he will win. That last wonderful line of the song is I will win! I will be victorious! The Princess is also wide awake, waiting for the morning. The Prince has kept his name a secret (his reputation is not the best), and the Princess has sent her servants searching throughout the town to find out who he is. Ergo, Nessum Dorma, No One is Sleeping. I'm also impressed that they sang in Italian very well, everything sounded natural, like it is their first language.
This is why music is such an amazing language, all in itself.......I do not understand one word they sang, but I felt every lyric, every note, and every emotion, which says a lot about their amazing artistry & talent ❣❣❣
When I first heard this, my first question was, if he had operatic training. I found out that the college he went to specialized in opera. I was informed that Rob hasn’t sung opera in 15 years. Austin, from what I’ve heard only had theater training, but it must have included some opera or Rob is a great teacher, as they nailed this performance! I want to hear more, much more.
there is such talent there never ever judge a book by its cover or just think that a group of talented individuals can be classified by one genre ❤🏴
To see your eyes well up, on almost the first note was so moving! I feel like all of our 'brains were broken' on this performance! I've seen other reactors not able to speak and just replayed the video several times back to back. I get it!! This was amazing! And So are You! Cyndy from Louisiana
I was floored when I first heard this! And I’m in no means an opera fan, more to the rock and metal side of music. Rob’s voice is so rich. He is so versatile in what he can do. I hope he does more of these cross overs. Thanks for your reaction. I felt it.
Please react to the Gaither Vocal Band singing “Let Freedom Ring” live at Carnegie Hall. You will not regret it! Can’t wait to see your reaction (get the tissues)😢

These guys are not “average” country singers. Both of them studied musical performance in college. It shows.
Thank you, I didn't want to be the only one in tears. They are fantastic!
Rob was trained in and singing opera about 16 years ago, from what I've seen mentioned in other reactions to this. It is perfection in my book.
Dave what a great reaction. Your reaction enhanced my pleasure at this incredible performance!
Yes, they nailed it! And I positively loved your reaction.
Fabulous performance. Wonderful reaction. Wow Rob, just wow.
Dave, always enjoy your reactions! Home Free and Dave make an incredible combination!
Yay! So glad you listened to it. I was sure you’d love it. ❤
This one caught me off guard. One word to describe it...Amazing!! Your reaction is how I felt. Keep these coming
The ear knows when it hears a trained operatic voice. Rob seems to be in the same tradition as Luciano Pavarotti. Very impressive on this piece. If what I am saying is over the top, I am sorry but to me Rob seems as though he could sing opera anywhere and receive standing ovations.
Great reaction, Dave!!! Your face said it all.
Beautiful reaction, Dave.
Austin sang pretty, but Rob sang masterfully!
An amazing performance. From the trained eye, it is Rob singing as an Opera Singer & Austin a Pop Singer singing brilliant Opera. Wonderful.
Absolutely incredible! They just showed their high level of technical skills with their voices!!!!!! Totally amazing!!! Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! 💜💜
OMG you might just be my favourite reactor EVER...for you to be able to appreciate ALL genres to tears is absolutely amazing!!! LOVE you, Dave (in a totally non-creepy way)!!!
I was crying like a baby when I first heard this. They are fantastic! If we ever need proof that our guys can sing anything, we have it.🐝🤗❤️
It's a glorious thing to see such talent on display. Austin is great but Rob is magnificent.
Just WOW 🤩 That was spectacular 👏👏👏. I think they did more than “try”
Beautiful reaction!! The guys did an amazing job
This had me in tears absolutely beautiful can't wait to see them live in a couple weeks. They both studied opera in college.
They won't be singing this live.
Oh I know they aren't but still can't wait to see them and experience Tim's Base
Thank u a Dave!! Was yeah not the coolest thing I've ever seen!! So proud of these boys!!
I felt sure they could perform operatic works successfully - but they blew me away here too, Dave. I want more!!!
You're my favorite reactor! Your emotions are so powerful. Thank you. Subscribed.
I knew they are good singing in their group...I had no idea they had THAT in them! Splendid!
This group of guys from Home Free have reached legendary status in their ability to crossover to so many genres and do them with exquiste capablity. They literally have covered nearly 10 genres and do justice with all of them. They entertain at a very high level and don't put out junk.
Oh my GOODNESS!!! I love Opera and this was perfection!! Thank you for sharing your reaction.
Best reaction ever!
Absolutely beautiful! Gave me chills and tears to my eyes! Love Austin and Rob! Just love Home Free!
Rob and Austin have a standing ovation from me exactly.
Fantastic Reaction Dave! And Bravo to Rob and Austin's Magnificent Performance!
So happy to watch your reaction ☺. They really did sound fantastic and professional. Our boys are so talented but HomeFrys already know this. I always look forward to your reactions. Your facial expressions say what all of us are feeling.😲 🥰🥰
I'm sitting here with my mouth open. How beautiful! Your reaction was so heartfelt, I loved it!
Thank you!!!❤
Thank you for what you do know about opera. So positive about what you heard. We all have had chills and I cry every time I hear it!
It fits well
with your tender, emotional side that comes out when you relate things about
your wife and children. Thanks so much for doing this and be safe and well.
Italian. And they both pronounce and enunciate beautifully
Breathtaking. Goosebumps! Perfecto!
I’ve been watching your channel- sporadically- about a year (coming off the pandemic who the hell really knows 🤦♀️)
Today I learned (saw an older reaction of yours in my feed) you are a digital artist.
(Yo!!!! Damn! Do you ever discuss Art??? - I would be so up for that!??)
I also learned you are an opera fan (far more technically versed than I am)
And that Rob and Austin are so not afraid to stretch.
Thanks!!
That has to be one of the best reactions I’ve ever seen!
I love your reaction! You did this justice. I would love for all of Home Free to come back singing the quartet from the Marriage of Figaro.
Please check out Austin’s Bring Me Home cover from Les Mis, an example of the musical theater training he had in college. 😊
Austin sang opera in college also.
I had no idea Rob could sing like that!! 😲 This was amazing and I've been watching it over and over! Well done guys!! Bravo!
there is such talent there never ever judge a book by its cover or just think that a group of talented individuals can be classified by one genre ❤🏴
To see your eyes well up, on almost the first note was so moving! I feel like all of our 'brains were broken' on this performance! I've seen other reactors not able to speak and just replayed the video several times back to back. I get it!! This was amazing! And So are You! Cyndy from Louisiana
There are singers, and there are "singers". These two are "singers". Bravo! Bravo!
I was floored when I first heard this! And I’m in no means an opera fan, more to the rock and metal side of music.
Rob’s voice is so rich. He is so versatile in what he can do. I hope he does more of these cross overs.
Thanks for your reaction. I felt it.
This left me gobsmacked. That was no "try". They nailed it! Rob has a smooth as butter baritone abd Austin hits Angelic hights with his tenor.
It's been three weeks since I first heard this and it STILL gives me goosebumps and tears running down my cheek. Loved your reaction. So powerful!
Please react to the Gaither Vocal Band singing “Let Freedom Ring” live at Carnegie Hall. You will not regret it!
Can’t wait to see your reaction (get the tissues)😢
