Btw Papirøen (The Food Market) is closing BUT the owners are renting a bigger place called Riggerloftet and the whole concept will become more than just food, so it will be like an artsy cultural playground with a lot of food as well :)
I always find it fascinating how awe struck some foreigners are at the architecture in Denmark, makes you think about how much you take things for granted i suppose, well i can understand it since i'm the same way with mountains, but still. Great video though, and thank you for not getting a shawarma and then saying it's the best food copenhagen has to offer, as some travel guides do.
It's so easy to overlook where you're from and want to travel to other places but it's amazing to get to experience your home from a visitor's point of view and be reminded of how amazing it really is! Honestly can't wait to go back to Copenhagen, loved it!
I was so fascinated when I went to Copenhagen, so many bikes and colours ! This city is very different from anything I saw. But I know what you mean, I live in Paris and I'm so used to that kind of architecture and way to live that I forget it's not normal for everyone :)
I live in Copenhagen and have done so all my life, and I guess that i have gotten so use to the city that i don't really notice the beauty of my city anymore. I just wanna thank you for a great vlog, and I rally hope that you decide to return some day because there's still so many places in Copenhagen to see and experience. Thank's for putting Copenhagen back in my mind, sometimes it takes a fresh pair of (foreign) eyes. I wish you the best on your travels wherever you may end up! :) Greetings from a Cph native.
It's interesting to see how other people view your country. For us it's just mundane boring old Copenhagen, and for others it's just "wow look at that building!" Haha. I guess I do live in a beautiful city.
I'm going so stay there for 2 months on business for my company. .Are there places in Copenhagen (or other cities nearby) like guesthouses (the name varies from country to country... it's not really hostel, it's cheaper because you pay monthly...) where one can rent just a room inside a house or a building and the rest of the facilities are shared? Like kitchen, bathrooms. I lived in one of these before and I felt it was much less depressing than renting an entire apartment for myself, not always more comfort is what brings happiness, it's a very weird dynamic. It's cool being able to meet lots of people like that, and when you want privacy you just go back to your room, simple and easy. And usually cheap too. Are there local classifieds where people advertise this sort of stuff? Or is everything done on the internet these days?
the lion part just doesn't really apply to Denmark, 100 B.C danes were running around with sticks and stones. The lion in Denmark just represent royalty
I think they were only in Greece, there are a lot of Lions in Greek ancient literature and they are very well descripted. They had to live in the mountains to hide from civilisation before they got extinct...
100 BCE is when they went extinct in Greece. According to Wiki, there were still lions in the Caucasus many years later. However there were lions in central/southern Europe until somewhere in the stone age. Their remains have never been found in Denmark. And 100 BCE, Denmark was in the Roman Iron Age, trading with the Romans, and might have paid tribute to them as well. A long way away from "sticks and stones"
it took a long time for denmark to develop, and denmark definitely didn't trade with the romans during 100 BCE, i mean all the way up to the viking age Denmark wasn't even a country.
RayaWasHere oh noooo I saw this after I wrote my comment! I like the quiet, calm bits of the song for sure! Just not the parts like at 2:07 and 5:54... ignore me. I'm just one opinion haha :)
Great Travel Video! Nice to see the urban surroundings of Cobenhagen, Denmark flash by with a moving camera to a large extent. It's something about the moving camera that makes some shots come alive in this video and therefore seem interesting. Odd thing there with the fact about the wild lions roaming Europe before they became extinct. Delicious food you had there and I can completely agree upon the fact that there is something about the colourful houses in Cobenhagen that truly can elevate mood! I was in Cobenhagen some years ago and got some of the vibes you describe in this video. But I was exhausted due to my long trip previously and couldn't entirely appreciate the Cobenhagen experience. But I reacted to the cozy houses with colourful palette, I slept pretty close to the place with the little mermaid. I loved the free-spirited vibe in the city! Now what I really liked about your video was the positive mood. I think people need more positivity in their lives and it's refreshing to see someone with a happy face not something you always see on the streets where I use to walk. This is because I'm a little low on money for the moment and I'm starting to save money for future trips! Something that can be improved? Not much. I would have loved to see a little bit more of Cobenhagen though. A longer video. I didn't get to see the full city when I was there. All the famous stories, are not based in northern Europe because of its looks. Europe was, for a really long time, the most powerful part of the world. They didn't have to think about survival. They could focus on art.
Hey raya, I want to tell you that you are a great inspiration for me. I love that you stand out and don't just follow the mainstreem things ( for girls/woman to do make up things on youtube for example) I love it
+esmeevogels1990 thank you! That means so much to hear! I struggle with this sometimes as I think having a beauty or fashion channel would get me so many more views but this is what I'm passionate about and what makes me feel alive! ❤
Wow! You articulate everything so well. You show us everything so clearly, the montages are great, and then give us your personality and information about the city and how you travel! I’m really impressed! ❤️
I love the comment sections on Rayas' videos! It's just a bunch of like minded travellers sharing their favourite cities giving me more travel inspiration to my ever growing bucket list! ❤️such a lovely community
This comment!!! This incredible loving community we have all created is honestly what makes me want to make videos - I'm soo lucky to have you all to share my travels and life with ❤️
Come to Krakow next! Actually I am from Warsaw, but I am visiting a friend in Krakow next week! and i'm glad you liked Copenhagen, you should visit Aarhus next time, it's a beautiful city in Denmark where I used to study:) love your content Raya, I am waiting for a video from Poland:)
I wonder if all the houses are so colorful BECAUSE sunny days are so rare. Because if the houses were dull, and the sky was dull, the city would be so depressing.
Maybe... Too bad that these kinds of houses are becoming rare at the moment. The Municipality thinks that glass buildings and skyscrapers are the way forth (which a lot of Danes don't think are nice. They just don't mesh well with the classic architecture. It's respectable enough when it's in an area with only skyscrapers like the Ørestad or Nordhavn suburbs but not in the damn middle of the classic city.)
Interesting watching this as a dane. I work 200 meters from Nyhavn and I take a break from work every day walking in the garden with the little castle. It's like watching it with fresh eyes. Love your energy. Take care.
So cool that you went to Copenhagen and stayed at the hotel where I usually stay when I go there! I hope you went to Christiania, probably the coolest thing/place in Copenhagen! I hope you come to Sweden next!!! Scandinavia is underrated for sure!
I find it so funny to watch these videos, i live in Copenhagen myself, and i bike through the city every single day to go to school so it's so fun to see you guys being so overwhelmed by the city! You don't think so much about when you live there hahah
If you go back, you should really go to Christiania!! It's a kind of small town in the middle of Copenhagen, which was taken over by like hippies and colonists ish some years ago and it's kind of a free town. There are no street lights and most of the time there are no police. Also there are a lot of drugs and stuff and you're not allowed to film or take pictures in there. The main street in Christiania is called Pusher street and even though there are a lot of like drugs and stuff, it's beautiful and just all of Christiania is beautiful, and the people are so friendly, everyone knows each other and it's a great place!!
Absolutely enjoyed watching this video, especially because I'm from Denmark. It makes me think about how much I take for granted, and almost find boring, here in Denmark
My sister went to Prague and said it was beautiful but suuper touristy. I'm actually really curious about Krakow so hope you get to go there. Amazing videos, I'm loving them!
I love that you went to bastard cafe (the board game one) 😱😍 it's one of my favourites in Copenhagen 😁 also next time you visit, you should check out a place called Café Nutid which a café entirely run by volunteers and all of the profit goes to charity 🙈
Have you been to Burano in Italy? Now those are some amazing colorful houses!! Copenhagen is so beautiful I miss it so much ❤️❤️ I'm glad you enjoyed it! Can't wait to see where you travel next!!
I want to tell you guys a fun fact of the Nyhavn 5:14 I will get back to that. First really great vlog, Copenhagen is an amazing place and I enjoy living and being from here. Alright fun fact time. Back when the buildings were made the nation was in war with several nations and we were running out of money. But we had to keep the believe to our rivals that we had the upper hand. So what we did was building buildings with lesser quality clay bricks which had one drawback, they were sensitive towards erotion from weather, so they were painted beautiful colors to protect the outer surface. Then focus could be placed on the colors and no one knew the real reason behind it.
Yoko Ono (Wish Tree Garden) and John Lennon visited Denmark, specifically northern jutland, so basically almost as far away from Copenhagen as possible, back in 1970 and really liked it because of the anonymity and the relaxed nature of the people. They were living close to and visited what is known as 'Thylejren' which is a site (sort of like a free town) where hippies congregate to be free, party, dance and smoke weed, even still to this day.
Oh wow, it's so weird to see another person experiencing what has been the norm for you your entire life. Welcome to Denmark! I'm really happy that you enjoyed Copenhagen :-).
I live in Europe and you make me wanna travel so much. Thanks for those beautiful videos I've never been to Copenhagen, it looks amazing ! And that vegan food looked so good ! Btw, I live in Strasbourg, it's in France, just next to Germany, it's an amazing city, you should come, I'm sure you would like it 😘
can you do like a what's in my backpack video for the trip? I would really like to know what the travel essentials are and how little- how much you need to bring! thank you and i love your vids c:
I love the spontaneity of what you're doing right now! Also, I live in Sweden and planning on going to Denmark for the first time soon (can't believe I haven't been yet.) For sure going to that vegan brunch place! SO glad you're enjoying Scandinavia =)
Omg I was just in Copenhagen 2 weeks ago with friends, I'm sad I missed you, would've been so nice to meet you! We were 4 and the best option we found was Airbnb, it was cheaper per night per person (around 30 euros for us but it was because we were picky but there was definitely cheaper) AND we saved money by not eating out and cooking instead 😊 I liked Copenhagen and it was beautiful but I was in Dublin right before that and the difference in how people interact with you is what made me not like Copenhagen as much, Irish people are so much more warmer and welcoming, day or night, the pub atmosphere is so nice, it's hard to beat that 😬
All museums etc are closed on Mondays in quite a lot of countries, unfortunately, but definitely also Denmark. Sorry about that! Bit of a bummer, especially on rainy days. The city is definitely at its most beautiful in the summer, I love how the sun shines down on all the water - the same goes for Stockholm, Sweden :) The food market is at Papirøen (Paper Island), it is indeed closing as it was always meant to sort of be temporary but it turned out to be HUGELY popular.
It's so fun to see people from all over the world reacting to Denmark and especially Copenhagen, like it's really interesting to see places I've been to tons of times being seen from such a different perspective. I'm fairly certain I ate some shrooms right behind that tree at 4:22, the amounts of times I've been at Storkespringvandet at 4:45 either drunk off my ass, walking around with friends, going there with school growing up or just wandering around with my old best friend trying to decide if we should walk to Christiania or if we should head to Kings Garden to hang out with people, the time I was out with a friend and we met some random people with a soundboks at Rådhuspladsen at 4:51 and we ended up throwing a giant party, I've played a show at the venue at 7:52. This is my city and these kinds of videos really make me appreciate what the ol' girl has to offer and how beautiful and different it is from other cities around the world. Argh I'm rambling, I'll be quiet now. It's just fun going down memory lane thinking about the great times I've had at these places over the years and seeing others form their own connections to them is such a cool feeling
There were lions in Bulgaria too a long long time ago though. The last lion in the Bulgarian lands was killed during the campaign of the Persian king Xerxes.
Although the food looked like something you can get in LA or SF perhaps it tasted better there. I've noticed produce taste much better in Europe than it does in the US.
I’m from Denmark, if you ever consider coming back, you should definitely check out Nørrebrogade it’s such a cool street with a lot of culture and people and probably my favorite spot so I would definitely recommend going there
Btw Papirøen (The Food Market) is closing BUT the owners are renting a bigger place called Riggerloftet and the whole concept will become more than just food, so it will be like an artsy cultural playground with a lot of food as well :)

Ehm, no? The place has been completely demolished. They're building apartments there instead.
Copenhagen is one of my must visits. I really want to go!
well i am from jylland but i think it's a pretty good place not a boring old city like they have stuff we don't have in jylland
Me too. I really want to visit it

Frida Aagaard was just about to say that! The lions represent royalty. It does not have any thing to do, with them being normal in anchient Denmark 😂

girl ur video is amazing........you summed up copenhagen in this video really well......keep up the great work......
Copenhagen is my one of favorite and first time for me to visited and I love here, I live in Luangprabang province , Laos.
I just fucking Love Copenhagen And Skandinavia in general!
I love that you have an appreciation for everything! Tks for sharing this video, I can't wait to take my children there!
Oh my, what a beautiful place! The music you picked was really relaxing too. Loving this series! You're always such an inspiration. Much love! ❤
Ah thank you! I didn't know if you guys would like the music it took me over an hour to find haha but I'm so glad you do! :)

RayaWasHere I loved it! You always find the prettiest music for your videos. It always seem to match where you are in the world perfectly! :)
So mind blowing to see a youtuber you follow visiting your home city, i honestly grew up in the building right behind Raya at 5:40
"look at this, how is this real?" What, an ordinary Danish street? Guess you take some things for granted as a Dane :)
Exactly what I thought... We do indeed take Copenhagen for granted :)
Haha jaaa! :o

Christiania and Tivoli Garden were two things I have thought I would have loved to see but I didn't get the time to see those places when I was there.
Fun thing that you actually go to places others can vote for which creates a cosmopolitian vibe.
Good initiative!

Copenhagener here - always so fun to see how other people experience your own city! Gives a whole new perspective 😊 Hope you had a great time here 😁
Brazil here! Copenhagen is amazing, i loved!
This video was extremely helpful, especially showing the meal prices. I love board games so that bar is a great rainy day tip. Thanks!
All the famous stories, are not based in northern Europe because of its looks. Europe was, for a really long time, the most powerful part of the world. They didn't have to think about survival. They could focus on art.
And most of the wellknow fairytales are picked up from the Grimm Brothers (german) or HC Andersen (danish)
Ok so I am somewhere in Europe...and I am about to take my seat...and I ask this beautiful girl "ARE YOU RAYA?" I am sitting next to RAYA!! HOW FUN!!!
I've been loving this series so much Raya 👍🏻🤗
+Andre Nicola thank you!! I've been dreaming of it for over a year so I'm so glad you guys love it! 😄
I agree, all these makeup channels get soo much attention compared to travel channels.. Travel should be more interesting than makeup in my opinion :D
You could still make another channel on makeup, or hair, but post when you like. Just a suggestion though =)
Wow! You articulate everything so well. You show us everything so clearly, the montages are great, and then give us your personality and information about the city and how you travel! I’m really impressed! ❤️

From a guy who live in Denmark, you most definitely should come visit my country in the summer, it's really just magical and full of life.

Really nice video. It's really something else to watch our own country from at a tourist's perspective.
Yasss that's what I loved the most about Copenhagen; the architecture.
Thanks for this video. I'm going to visit Copenhagen in three weeks and I'm so exited 🙄

First really great vlog, Copenhagen is an amazing place and I enjoy living and being from here.
Alright fun fact time.

So happy you had a great time!! Please come back to Scandinavia!!:)
I’m from Denmark and i’m so happy you like it here
If you like colourful houses, you should head to Burano, a small island of Venice!
Not a lot of people know it but it's wonderful
Oh wow, it's so weird to see another person experiencing what has been the norm for you your entire life. Welcome to Denmark! I'm really happy that you enjoyed Copenhagen :-).
I live in Europe and you make me wanna travel so much. Thanks for those beautiful videos I've never been to Copenhagen, it looks amazing !
And that vegan food looked so good !
Btw, I live in Strasbourg, it's in France, just next to Germany, it's an amazing city, you should come, I'm sure you would like it 😘

+Alylia Pekkala yes I am 100% making a video on what I brought! Wanted to do it after so I could tell you guys what I actually brought!
Wow I did not expect Bastard Café to be featured in a travel video. Caught me by surprise! Nice one ^_^
I love the spontaneity of what you're doing right now!
Also, I live in Sweden and planning on going to Denmark for the first time soon (can't believe I haven't been yet.) For sure going to that vegan brunch place! SO glad you're enjoying Scandinavia =)
Don't worry about Copenhagen Street Food. They supposedly open shop not too far away from its old spot in May 2018.
Cool video, that bar where you can play boardgames is lit!
Ticket to Ride is one of our family favorites.
I dream of places like this ..
Can’t wait to go in December
I vlogged Copenhagen just a couple of weeks ago! Absolutely fell in love with the place!
Most museums are closed Mondays. Shops, restaurants and so on are of course open.
Omg I was just in Copenhagen 2 weeks ago with friends, I'm sad I missed you, would've been so nice to meet you! We were 4 and the best option we found was Airbnb, it was cheaper per night per person (around 30 euros for us but it was because we were picky but there was definitely cheaper) AND we saved money by not eating out and cooking instead 😊 I liked Copenhagen and it was beautiful but I was in Dublin right before that and the difference in how people interact with you is what made me not like Copenhagen as much, Irish people are so much more warmer and welcoming, day or night, the pub atmosphere is so nice, it's hard to beat that 😬
I'm glad you loved Copenhagen. It really is a beautiful city - a happy Dane :)
Why be sorry about that? It's common practice, and common knowledge that museums close on Mondays.
Amazing video, very informative, you are just bubbly person. Keep up the great work! So much love from London.
Haha jeg elsker Danmark!
er du en dansker?

Lol hahhaa ja det fed nok
Milla Bang nej, jeg er ikke dansker med jeg elsker København, er du?
Cant wait to be here next year!!!!!!
Am absolutely loving these vlogs, Raya
I’m from Denmark, if you ever consider coming back, you should definitely check out Nørrebrogade it’s such a cool street with a lot of culture and people and probably my favorite spot so I would definitely recommend going there
