I also rebelled against CarPro Perl for over a year but recently bought some and there's no comparison - CarPro Perl is the best I've ever used - period. It goes on really easy and is not shiny at all. I use it on tires and black plastic on my 911 and it works better than anything else I've tried.
Matt I'm finding it increasingly useful to re-watch these product reviews if only to pick up on the secondary points you make. In this instance it was the use of the Adams dispenser for the pearl bottle - great idea and I have them to hand to easy to implement. As to the primary point of the product review I still agree that it is an excellent product and gives a great finish. Regards, Kevin
Matt, first of all, these product videos are great! Please continue this series so we can get a better idea of what you'll be selling on your site. When exactly will the tire packages include that Adams tip for the Perl dressing bottle??? Any chance you'll add 2 of the tips to each box? Also, any chance you'll just be selling the Perl dressing alone??? I want to order the tire package, but will be holding off until the tip comes with the package. Keep up the great work!
The guy I think you're referring to in the beginning I think is Mike Philips, he is working with 3D products now in Stuart fl. Great guy, has his shop set up right.
As mentioned before, you should really check out AngelWax “Elixir”. I ordered their FastFoam to replace Adam’s in the cannon and they sent me a small sample of it, which you can also order. Immediately I liked it much better than the Adam’s tire shine I was using and even more than the VRT as it’s more liquid than a thick cream. Super easy to apply, gives tires a perfect satin look without anything greasy left on them. It never looks too shiny like some other products. It also beads up a ton of water. You owe it to yourself to try it, trust me.
I have to give Carpro a try, iv been now using Chemical Guys Natural Shine tire dressing which I really like.I Didnt give other big brands like carpro or adams a try since its hard to get up here in Canada.
You said you've used adams VRP, but have you used just their tire dressing? I have tried almost all the tire dressings and found the adams tire dressing (yellow stuff) is the best by a long shot. I might have to try this stuff but I am in love with adams stuff. It lasts forever and even through rain storms it doesn't wash off.
I can attest that Perl works MUCH better than the Chemical Guys VRP. The VRP is gone and turns spotty the next day. Perl stays on and looks good for a long time.
It seems like I have tried every tire dressing known to man and the either sling or have durability issues. I have been using Gyeon Tire and it is by far the best tire dressing I have used and it seems to last for weeks not days. But I am always up for trying new products, that what makes the detailing world fun is trying different products. How do you like the Gyeon trim,I have been wanting to try it out.
I know I'm coming into this a bit on the late side since this video's been out since 2017, but as a VRT guy I've been looking for something "better." It's not that VRT is a bad product at all because it's not - I'm just not convinced it's the best product for tires if that makes sense. Been thinking about either this or Ammo Mud...maybe this is the kick I need to actually get some and try it.
Matt, love PERL. Never thought i would use anything else. But.... You need to try Poorboy’s Bold and Bright. Gives PERL a run for its money at half the price. One coat for satin. Another for a bit more shine...
Yes it's great value and works really well I have a litre bottle paid £21 off eBay recently their white diamond glaze & Black hole glaze products also work brilliantly and smell very nice 😎👍🇬🇧
ive tried many tire dressings. i resisted pearl for a long time, wanted to stay with us 🇺🇸 companies i guess... but it is the best for tires ...there are other good ones out there just not as good as pearl
Agree don't like chemical VRP, but can't go wrong with AMMO Mud or Pearl. I probably prefer AMMO Mud a little better overall as I like the finish a little better. Personal preference.
I apply it after every wash, so I maintain it well. It will only last a few weeks without maintenance. Hyper Dressing is a spray on and walk away. Perl needs to be applied.
Been thinking of converting over to this is it plausible to use on a bunch of daily drivers or should I just use this on my high end clients?? I use vrp normally right now
Purchase this product about 2 months ago but never try it in the tyres. After seeing this video I will with the positive comments. Just 1 question to all whom have try it, how long would it last?
Ronald Moll Hyper dressing works great on tires undiluted, to answer your question. I just prefer hyper dressing for engine bays and interior plastics (Diluted 3:1). I prefer VRT for tires to hyper dressing. I will give Carpro Perl a shot.
I was excited to try this product. I am let down. It was extremely streaky on exterior plastic and trims. I have of course prep the surface with degreaser to remove the previous product used. I tried many different dilution: 1:5 (recommended), 1:3 and undiluted (streaks the least). On tires, it was blotchy and streaky as well, using it undiluted. Again, I prepped the surface with degreaser during the was process. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I don't use Perl on the trim. It doesn't last long enough. I prefer Gyeon Trim or Kamikaze ISM. For tire, you really have to spend time preparing them. Once they are prepped and maintained with Perl, you'll never have to do it again. I use either Stoner's Tarminator or Griot's Rubber prep after cleaning with Adam's Rubber Cleaner.
John Perez Get a tuff shine tire brush (short handle, stiff bristle) to aggitate the tire. I have been using super clean in the aerosol can and it is amazing to clean tires. It cleans them in one go around of scrubbing. If they’re really bad, two times does the trick. This will ensure the rubber is clean as can be. This will provide great results!
302QuestSwap Thanks, I do have two of those brushes. I rarely use it for my tires, because I don't low profile tires. I have a Honda Odyssey. It does not a good job on scrubbing the bottom part of the wheels. Thanks for the tip
John Perez if you have a large sidewall I’ve found that the Adam’s polishes tire brush is extremely effective. That’s my go to brush for tall tires. Happy detailing!
@@ObsessedGarage Thanks for the feedback Matt. I've found if you mix VRP 1:5 with water it's amazing for engine bays, similar to hyper dressing, spray and leave. I wonder if Perl could be used like this? Sounds like a challenge lol

True, super easy ,do you use it diluted?
Another great video. I'm a recent Perl convert myself. It simply works and looks great.
Perl Pro Tip #1 use a dedicated soft bristle short hair brush to apply Perl then onto on the work piece results in great coverage & results on tires
Then clean brush with dishwashing liquid and warm water between uses?

Excellent product! it gets the tires nice and black. I use an old cyclo white pad to apply it. I can't say a bad word about it.

You've motivated me to get it done. I'll add them to my next Adam's order.
A detailing brush works a lot better- pour Carpro perl into a small plastic container and brush it on neat 👍
Great tip!
I have used chemical guys natural shine and provides a smooth non greasy shine. You should make a comparison and see your opinion.
Their VRP is cool too.

That's what I use also. Such a nice finish on the tires and really easy to apply. Seems to last awhile too.

Gyeon trim on rubber is really, really good. It's okay on plastic.
Obsessed Garage I will definitely give it try, thanks Matt. By the way thanks for all of the hard work you put into this so we can learn from you!
Do you use it neat or diluted ?
I use it diluted and works really well :)
He said he uses it straight, no dilution
@@R900DZ I used it always 1:1 or 2:1 and it's amazing.
Pure is worst than 1:1
Your garage rocks my friend!
Is it bad if I get some of this stuff on the rims if the rims are not black? Btw, love your videos Matt.
Nah...you can just wipe the excess.

Dear Matt of Obsessed Garage: Will you by any chance start to drop ship Rupes polishers so we can support your work?
I will be.
What's better in terms of durability and overall quality; Rupes, Flex, or Torq?
I always end up loving every single product you recommend but I just for some reason can’t get myself to like this product :(. Still a huge fan Matt!
ive tried many tire dressings. i resisted pearl for a long time, wanted to stay with us 🇺🇸 companies i guess... but it is the best for tires ...there are other good ones out there just not as good as pearl
My problem right now.
Angelwax enigma elixir vs Car Pro Perl vs IGL Tyre
I cant decide what to choose...
I have to try Elixir. I have a bottle in the cabinet.
@@ObsessedGarage Its so special it has ceramic infusion! lol... Wonder if that really helps or if its more of a trendy term to add.
Matt now recommends to use this diluted 1:1 and just spray on the tire and wipe.

How long will Perl look good on tires?
Matt when do we see the shoe collection?
Agree don't like chemical VRP, but can't go wrong with AMMO Mud or Pearl. I probably prefer AMMO Mud a little better overall as I like the finish a little better. Personal preference.
Yeah, they are both very good.
What sort of durability do you get out of PERL? And why do you prefer Hyper Dressing for engine bays?
I apply it after every wash, so I maintain it well. It will only last a few weeks without maintenance. Hyper Dressing is a spray on and walk away. Perl needs to be applied.
Thank you for the reply. Love your videos.
@@ObsessedGarage Perl can be sprayed ;)

Even with the tires "clean", why The sponge becomes black?
I heard stories of perl making trim white and hazy looking after it rains. I'm afraid to use it even though I just bought some
another excellent video, my friend!
Thanks man.
How do you deal with applying tire dressing with regards to sidetread and aggressive offroad tires?
I've changed my procedure to spray it on a brush and apply using 1:1 dilution.
Witch blue is your car?nice color
How does this compare to Black Pearl tire armor?
How does CarPro Perl compare to 303 Aerospace Protectant?
I like the Angelwax Elexir Dressing much more than carpro pearl, its easier to apply, lasts longer and gives a better water repelling capability :)
easier to apply?
PERL is super easy to apply tho 🤔
Hey mate u have a lot off good videos on this UA-cam channel
OCD or on the spectrum at some point. Either way.. great product and he's got great technique
I use this straight up, and I prefer it over CG VRP.
I've transitioned to using is diluted 2:1. I now think it works better that way.
How does it hold up in the rain?
Great
I guess there is no problem with it slinging off the tires?
You got it. Sling is reserved for old school junky stuff.
303 Aerospace Protectant is usually my go-to for tire/trim dressing. Never felt the need for anything else tbh.
This is way better.
Obsessed Garage I guess I'll have to give it a shot then. Certainly that satin finish I'm looking for. Hate glossy wet looking tires.
amen to that
Matt, just wanted to send thoughts and prayers to you & your family regarding for Hurricane Irma.
I love the look it gives but just doesnt last very long
If you do a quick clean up and apply it after every wash, it lasts infinitely.

What is the chair you are wheeling around on?
It's Griot's Garage stool.
