@@Martysworkshop I'm in Newport. Amazing how many French cars have the intermediate repair of the block o wood holding up the window!
Yea iv done that in the past to get people by lol
@@Martysworkshop seems staple for French cars to a bit of 1x2 jammed in! My first laguna, my sisters Megan and now my other half's dad's c3!
Hey what's up! Thanks for this! I love the picasso! I'm running through this problem. My window is stuck up. And I'll use this video to try to diagnose and fix the problem! As far as I read from the comments there are two main components that could be faulting, either it is the regulator, or it is the motor. I hear the window motor at least is initiating when I press up and down. I hear some clicks. So I would assume the motor is working. So the problem might be the regulator then. I think this makes sense right? I know very little to nothing about cars but I'm thrilled for trying my first hands-on fix! If I can't fix then I take it to the car workshop!
Yes you are spot on I would guess that the regulator is at fault but you would need to tale it apart to find out I'm afraid.
@@Martysworkshop Thanks for the reply Marty! Yeah I'm gonna do that. Regulators aren't cheap enough for me to buy before confirming! All the best and I'll let you know when I'm done, I should try something next week
nice job, you helped me alot! I had exactly the same problem now that everything is on place when i hit the button it barely goes up and down so it does not let me re introduce the window, any ideas?
Not sure is it a new regulator you are fitting?
@@Martysworkshop I bought it second hand and it looks quite shiny...more than the one that broke dowm
@@cliky1991 it might be worth removing and plugging in to see if the motor has gone weak
@@Martysworkshop good idea, ill try that out thanks! 👍
Nice job. Where to buy this white cover or something like that.
Thank you for watching, the white cover is a genuine item, but sticky back clear plastic does the same job.
nice video except I want to change the mechanisme only as my electric moter is ok . is it easy to keep the original moteur?
Hello the motor is bolted to the one half of the mechanism so just remove like i did and swap over th motor on the floor, thank you for watching
merci
Hi, how is the mirror still in place after mechanism removal, It looks as though it would slide down because of a lack of support.
Usually, the window is quite stiff in the runners, so it should stay in place. If it is loose, then you can tuck a piece of cardboard inbetween the glass and seal, which should hold it up. Thank you for watching
@@Martysworkshop trouble is that the door is damaged and needs relpacing so I've got to remove window and mechanism.
Hello, nice, my windrow is broken, is it easy to put a new one because you spoke only about the mécanism but not how to remove the window and how to place the new one? thanks
I didn't remove the window so i am unsure sorry, but usually once you remove the mech you can the slip the window out.

Hi, i'm trying to diagnose my windows problem. When I push the button down or up it just makes a low moan and moves only a fraction, it did completely stop moving on me the other day and up or down made a slight mmm like it wanted to but got no movement and the sound was very short not continuous if i held down the button. Turning off the engine and restarting the car allowed it to work again but only on tiny fractions again with the same noise. Is it likely the motor or just the regulator or both?
I would say motor but to cheak remove motor out of reg and see it it moves freely. Hope this helps
@@Martysworkshop I will do that, thanks.
Is there a way to test a new regulator without taking the old one out?
You would need to remove the door card and plug it in, hope this helps
@@Martysworkshop hello Marty, somehow my window started working again so I'm happy I didn't had to do all this work. I recently (re)discovered the existence of scanning tools and actually ordered one. And I was wondering how helpful it would have been in troubleshooting what was going on.
Cheers
When I press the button to wind my window down, it only goes down about an inch. Pressing the button again makes it go down another inch, and I can repeat that till it is down. It was working fine, but this happened coincidentally with somebody pushing my wing mirror in to make the car narrower. As the wing mirror is close to the winder motor, I suppose there's something in common. I'm just going to take it out now.
Try polish in the seal around the outside of the window, this is quite common
@@Martysworkshop Ah, no, it's not due to friction. It's funny how it happened. It was working fine, then I noticed that somebody had pushed my wing mirror in in a car park, to make more space to pass, I guess. I went to wind the window down to push it out again, and found that the window would only wind down an inch or two at a time - but it stops because power to the motor is cut after it winds down just a bit.
Normally, if I click the down switch (momentary press), the window will wind down all the way, but if I press the switch for more that half a second or so, it will continue to wind down till I release the button, then it will stop. This means there is a timer somewhere to decide whether it was a momentary push or a long push - and I'm pretty sure it is that timer that is affecting how the window winds now.
I thought it would have something to do with the wing mirror, because it had been pushed in,. and is physically close to the window motor, but I have taken the window mechanism out, and now, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the mirror. I'm having a real struggle to get the window motor back into place again. I've spent a couple of hours on it, but it's behind the inner skin of the door, so I can't see behind it to locate the studs in the holes.
my window only goes half way down any ideas
If it is going down really slow then i would say possibly motor, but if it is going down normal then jamming half way down with any clicking noises the definitely the mechanism
@@Martysworkshop it stops half way down no clicking but starts normal
@@Ashbash-dq7ef it might be worth taking the panel off just to make sure nothing is jamming the mechanisum
