I think everyone else in the comments has already said this, but the style and format was so relaxed and comforting. Even though it feels more formatted, I didn't feel like it took away from Zaynab's personality.
I’ve been a passionate baker for years but this video taught me heaps! - sour cream / yoghurt is added to recipes so that you get all the goodness of dairy without thinning the batter, it’s the citrus seeds not the rind that makes it bitter, olive oil will keep baked goods fresher for longer than butter, evaporated milk is more concentrated and therefore creamier! Love when I learn new things. As others have said, thoroughly enjoyed the calming vibes ❤️
I made this a few weeks ago and it was a hit! The only modification I made was the loaf size - I baked up 8 mini loaves instead of one large one. I’ll definitely make these again!
This is so calming and also aromatic. Just looking at it I can smell and taste the lemon 🍋.. I love lemon tea cake and I’m definitely trying this recipe
The entire video was relaxing. The cake looks delicious. I appreciate that you didn’t rush, that you calmly spoke your way through it all, explaining the reasons behind ingredients, techniques etc. Such a simple recipe with quite complex flavours but for a novice in the kitchen like myself, I feel I could handle this recipe. The tea looked lovely too. Overall I can imagine sitting up at that ledge/bar by the window, tasting everyone’s trials, sipping tea, coffee, chatting away and appreciating the skyline.
Zaynab should do more vids, I like her style and approach, and she doesn't seem annoying like some of the new faces they've brought on who try too hard.
This made me interested in the tea kettle! It’s hard to find a glass kettle that can handle the stovetop! Looks like this one is from MOMA for $65, in case anyone else is interested
Highly recommend this - made it over the weekend and it was delish. I skipped the icing and used lemon-flavored Greek yogurt instead of sour cream to up the lemon even more, it was great!
The recipes, the production values, the music, and the final product… Not to mention the narration… We’re fantastic. I cannot wait to try both of these recipes.
What a lovely video and great recipe. Is suiting and inspiring. I wish BA will keep going into this direction instead of trying to replicate the atmosphere that was with the past team. It was kind of forced. This type of video will take you to another beautiful cycle. Congrats!!
Love the editing and shooting style. I was waiting for Nigella Lawson to pop out and talk about the sunshine-tinged ribbons of batter cascading into the tin.
I watched this and went ahead and made some preserved lemon since I can't find it in stores here. One month in the cupboard. Baked the first loaf this Thursday and ashamed to say I finished it in a couple of days. Baked another one right away as a gift - the recipients enjoyed it thoroughly. It's everything you said it is: funky lemony bright, complex. It goes up there as one of my favorite simple cakes.
I saw your recipe and am now inspired to preserve lemons. We have a Meyer lemon tree in our yard and we end up giving away SO MANY lemons each year. Your video has inspired me to preserve our lemons this year so thank you. I am SO making these recipes after the lemons are preserved. Thank you
Would love to see more videos in this format! Definitely still a fan of the more laid back / less produced videos as well, but this is a nice change up.
I paid more attention to the teapot because of your comment...and the teapot is german :D Would be interesting to know how that teapot made its way to New York lol
Clicked on this without realizing it was a BA video. Interesting to see how they pivoted. Such a different vibe, more calm, less focused on personalities and ensemble banter
Interesting video format. I definitely like the voice-over of a shorter video more than the ~30 minute videos of some of the recipes SOMETIMES. I still like the longer style too. This seems like the super old school BA videos
I’ve made this twice and it is so delicious! It’s easy to make and far, far, far, better than grocery store lemon cake. You should definitely make this if you love lemon cake!
Really liked this editing style! I've been wanting to make this cake since I saw it in the magazine, the addition of the chai I will have to try as well. This whole video just makes me wish I was in New York, on a fall day, with a giant sweater on. lol
I appreciate BA trying a different direction since they can’t recreate the magic of the old BA test kitchen, but this style looks like all the other YT food videos where someone films cooking in their kitchen, then slaps some calming music and voice over instructions on it.
It's so weird to see the 'test kitchen ' after forever without the usual happy faces of all my favourite ex Bon Appetite stars. GOD! I want them all back, even though, they all left for a good reason. These new people here somehow fail to gain my acceptance. The recipe was great though and Zainab seems very nice.
I made this today for the first, and it turned out perfect! I couldn’t find any place in my area that sold preserved lemons, so just made my own. Very tasty! 😊
Ah, I was just staring as my preserved lemons and wondering about baking with them! This is brilliant, the turmeric is brilliant, gonna have to try it.

What size tin is being used here?
I want to see all the recipes that got the editors their jobs
Delaney's recipe: Being a smug white guy.
Please do a series! 🤩🤩🤩 so enjoyable!
@@Galactic123 😂😂🤣
I think you're onto something. I hope they read the comments.
I would love a series on this.

Zaynab is a star. She has such a calm, bright energy. Her recipes are unique. Great on camera. More Zaynab!
This is so calming and also aromatic. Just looking at it I can smell and taste the lemon 🍋.. I love lemon tea cake and I’m definitely trying this recipe
The vibe of this video feels like an Alvin Zhou "100-hour" masterpiece, and I love it.

One of the best videos you’ve put out for a long while. More of this format please 🙌
This was such a comfort video. Very cozy and pleasing aesthetically. Recipe sounds and looks great as well. :) really enjoyed this one
Dope format and style! Zaynab should do more in this style!
i 1000% agree more of this format pls
Agreed
Totally agree no need to rush BA this feels way more elevated
Zaynab should do more vids, I like her style and approach, and she doesn't seem annoying like some of the new faces they've brought on who try too hard.
Except for the vocal fry and the very American method of brewing tea 😂
@@Bosstastical I mean, she is working in a highrise in New York. She can brew her tea how ever she likes, and that's the real tea 👏🏻 😂
“The American method” they said all high and mighty. B…if it tastes good then it was done right 🤙🏼
@@8Jhartzell If it boils over because you put milk in while on the heat you're American
This made me interested in the tea kettle! It’s hard to find a glass kettle that can handle the stovetop! Looks like this one is from MOMA for $65, in case anyone else is interested
I was looking for it! Thanks
It’s beautiful and fun to watch
Thank you!
I really want one but I suspect I'd constantly have to clean it.
Highly recommend this - made it over the weekend and it was delish. I skipped the icing and used lemon-flavored Greek yogurt instead of sour cream to up the lemon even more, it was great!
that was a good idea to use yogurt. Did the yogurt make the cake a little denser or was the texture still moist and fluffy?
The recipes, the production values, the music, and the final product… Not to mention the narration… We’re fantastic. I cannot wait to try both of these recipes.
Love the explanation of the ingredient choices! Felt like I was gaining new insight into how recipes are made
What a lovely video and great recipe. Is suiting and inspiring. I wish BA will keep going into this direction instead of trying to replicate the atmosphere that was with the past team. It was kind of forced. This type of video will take you to another beautiful cycle. Congrats!!
Zaynab is such an amazing addition to the test kitchen.... Love her style and vibe.🌼❤️
Thank you; really appreciate this articulate and serious chef. The silly banter gets in the way.
This style of video is so much better than the usual talky ones. Much more relaxing and easier to follow. It made me want to keep watching.

More than the mouth-watering visuals, this was also so beautifully narrated.
People who cook with pretty jewelries are sooooo powerful!!!!!!
Love the format, its chill, we get some some background information and Zaynab just fits in here
I want more Zaynab! She's amazing
The format is what every single "food influencer" on TikTok uses, haha.
She is absolutely stunning and fun to watch. More of her. 😊
This is the perfect format for that recipe More of Zaynab please, thank you 🙏
I'm not a fan of sweets, but every once in a while I want some lemon cake, so this sounds pretty amazing!!!
I know what I’m making this weekend. That looks insanely yummy. P.s. I LOVE that teapot/kettle.
I paid more attention to the teapot because of your comment...and the teapot is german :D Would be interesting to know how that teapot made its way to New York lol

Beautiful style on this one. Cake looks great. Enjoyed hearing Zanyab's story. Kudos to all involved 🤘
Interesting video format. I definitely like the voice-over of a shorter video more than the ~30 minute videos of some of the recipes SOMETIMES. I still like the longer style too.
This seems like the super old school BA videos
This is the first BA video since the OG crew all disbanded that I didn't automatically dislike.
I adore preserved lemons, I use them everywhere I can. The brightness the give is awesome.
LOOOVVED THIS VIDEO.
It’s simplicity was cinematic and, beautiful.
I’m crying tears of joy to this video. 🍋
I think I fell in love just now. A unique lemon cake served with chai 😍😍😍 nothing can beat it
I knew the yellow was going to pop but even when you cut the cake I was shocked lol so you are right the yellow is very eye catching
The audio is *chefs kiss*
The cake looked great but combined with that chai it must have been incredible.
Love the style of this video
Really loved this style of video and Zaynab's presentation was perfect. Hope to see more of her content be featured!
Definitely need to do this recipe. I want to see more of Zaynab and i wish the vibes and music in Bon Appetit vids were this relaxed.
The style of this video is very reminiscent of the Mr Porter videos! Love it. Very calming and informative.
Thank goodness for some wonderful diversity and culture!!! This new style of presenting is super calming and relaxing. Bring on some more!!!
this was very different than usual, the voiceover and relaxed style was nice
I’ve made this twice and it is so delicious! It’s easy to make and far, far, far, better than grocery store lemon cake. You should definitely make this if you love lemon cake!
Loved this format! Also love her jewelry accessories :)
the voiceover style was a nice change of pace.
I love the added tea recipe!!!! so thoughtful to include a pairing drink with the cake

I made a huge jar of preserved lemons and was wondering what to do next with it...and then this pops up in recommendations. Perfect!
I appreciate BA trying a different direction since they can’t recreate the magic of the old BA test kitchen, but this style looks like all the other YT food videos where someone films cooking in their kitchen, then slaps some calming music and voice over instructions on it.
This was so smooth and satisfying
This is legit content. More of this, BA - less “what’s your favorite chip dip” trash.
More of this format, please.
This was really lovely production and I could listen to this host for days!!!!! Kudos
This on a calm winter day… wow
This whole video and you are so mesmerizing, I can't wait to make the Cake and the Tea! Thank you for such a lovely video ❣
Continue more recipes that got people jobs at BA!
Yes! This would be how I can use the jar of preserved lemon in my fridge! Looks great and simple
I like the jazz and chill style, I would watch more of these
I appreciate this format and you should run with it BA
It's so weird to see the 'test kitchen ' after forever without the usual happy faces of all my favourite ex Bon Appetite stars. GOD! Just a little tip, BA. if you're going to put the recipe behind a paywall, either say so or don't fake viewers out with a link they have to pay for.
I LOVE this style!!!
This looks delightful - I'd even wager adding a pinch of saffron would be a lovely variation as well.
Format of this is great
everything about this video was beautiful. I adore your style. cant wait to see more !
This is brilliant I'll definitely give this one a go ❤️
She's beauty and she's grace (the cake and Zaynab)
That all looks so amazing, all 3 recipes! I'm definitely trying this as soon as my lemons are preserved 😋👍
Loved the cinematic style you shot this in. Way more interesting to me
Im obsessed with this video
So aesthetic and beautiful😍 We need to try this asap! 🍋
I made this today for the first, and it turned out perfect! I couldn’t find any place in my area that sold preserved lemons, so just made my own. Very tasty! 😊
Hints of India in the recipe - turmeric and kadak chai … amazing , who would’ve thought
I've loved preserved lemons since a trip to Morocco years ago. I really want to try this recipe!

EVEN MORE SO, I CANT WAIT TO MAKE THIS CAKE.

Loves this format! Please keep doing this. Loved the recipe and Zaynab!
This cake looks superb. Such a cool twist on a classic too!
Preserved lemons!? Amazing!!!
Wonderful and calming video. Nice change of pace compared to the bombastic or frenetic tone of some of the others ‘s videos for BA.
I was looking for recipes for my preserved lemon so I’ve marked this to make. Thx
OMG! That cake and tea look AMAZING!!💛🍋🫖☕️
This looks delicious, I love lemon cake. This style of video was nice and calming
I just made a batch of preserved lemons so this is happening! Thanks for sharing!
