For elaboration on some of these: With the Stalchildren, they will actually grow infinitely larger if you keep defeating them. There's not really a cap on their size. Keese already diving at you will stop immediately after putting on the Skull Mask. Big Fairies were changed to recover all health and magic in the 3DS version, but the N64 version only recovers eight hearts and all magic.
I didn't know about the mask secondary properties, and didn't realise the crows grew too. Still remeber trying to make the biggest stallchild as possible in one night as a kid. Also it's really cool that this mostly unknown detail of the big fairy's actually was buffed in the 3DS version, they were paying attention to even details like that...
I remember discovering the giant enemies as a kid. The way I interpreted it was that it was that they were an alpha or a parent that has come to get revenge on you for killing so many of them. It was pretty scary for my 6 year old self - like encountering an angry mother bear defending her cubs.
Unfortunately, I can find no evidence of this being the case in either version of the game. All the Spooky Mask is good for is glowing creepily in the dark in the N64 version.

Well yeah, you kill the baby Guays and their nest mother, the Leever's and their spawn host, and as for the Stalchildren, you kill their champion in single combat and they flee or something.
As someone who played the crap out of this when it came out, I did know about the "big enemies" thing; the devs throwing something a little more ominous at you was a nice touch, though making them tougher would have been a nice challenge ("So, you wanna grind mobs huh; how about THIS") The map thing was SUPER COOL - awesome note!

Hi! It's not directily related to this video, but I've noticed you often mention the milk bars and "alcoholic" milk in the Zelda series. It came to my mind that these could be sort of a reference to Ayrag, a mongolian alcoholic drink made by fermenting mare's milk. An indicator of that (and a strong one, as I see it) is the fact that the sisters who sell this drink in Majora's Mask own the game's ranch. Also, as a curiosity, the first ones responsable for brewing fermented drinks were women since it was considered a house chore. Thus, women perfected the brewing of fermented alcoholical drinks to what we know today. Btw, the way you tell the stories and tales in your videos is amazing!
here's a nice secret at well that's relevant to the "different reactions to masks" thing in oot as well. (OG not remake). I'm not sure how many people did this, as the work you have to do to do it is long, and you also have to do it early, but I found it pretty funny and interesting. when you wear the keaton mask in front of zelda, she says: "aww, what a cute little mouse! hey, you're not a mouse!" thinking about that now, I'm going to bet all in that that was a reference to Pikachu from the Pokemon series. the ear shape and yellow and black aesthetic...definitely a reference to their most iconic pokemon. Hope that helped make it more interesting for you all! I haven't tried the other masks with Zelda, but definitely worth doing in the future, and for you to do too.
My only wish is a new game with the Hero of Time, an new adventure continuing his journey after MM, but i think it's impossible. OoT and MM are my favorite games because i like this Link more than others, i really would love if he comes back.
I feel you, but I kind of like that it has some mystery to it. We know he became a knight like his father was, lost an eye, and had children. We know who he was and what he was capable of, and his regrets stop him from dying in peace. There's a cool story between those two points that I kind of like being open ended.
Every time I watch a video about facts and secrets in OoT I always say that I know everything and everytime I learn about a new obscure thing. This time I was sure that this video won't contain something new but when I heard that the Skull mask and bunny ears prevent certain enemies from appearing my jaw dropped to the ground.
One detail I like about the Stalchildren is that if you swing your sword horizontally, their heads will be decapitated but can still walk. If you don't attack him, he'll sway left and right at random, trying to find Link.

I'm quite surprised I didn't know about the mask shenanigans, that's just neat! Also, a wee detail left out from the description of the giant enemies, but I recall the big purple leever also comes with the "dangerous enemy" music, which makes it seem a bit more intimidating than the usual nearby enemy tune.
I had heard of the "butterfly on a Deku stick" thing, but everything on this list was new to me. Even the giant Leevers (maybe the stalchild?) had spawned for me, but I didn't know it was something a player could trigger. I just thought they existed and I had stepped on the right spot...
Neat stuff. I only knew about the giant enemies & song fairies beforehand; it's always cool to learn something new about an old game I enjoy. Unrelated, but did anyone else ever believe the Happy Mask Salesman was wearing a mask of his own face in Ocarina? As a kid, I thought he had a mask on a stick held in front of his face for some reason.
You know, I love clicking on these kinds videos because its like a challenge. "Teach me something new about Ocarina of Time? Yeah right!" I'd exclaim whenever I happen upon one of these. And every time, I walk away with a smug look in my face, having learned absolutely nothing new. Today I learned the Skull mask stops Keese from attacking you. This is legitimately the first bit of new oot info (besides the fucked up shit you see in speed runs) I've learned in years. Thank you, Zeltik. Thank you.
When I was little I was scared of the big stepchild. I also noticed that when the big lever shows up, the music changes to the battle theme, unlike the other leevers.
I've beaten the game at least a dozen times throughout my life and this is the first time hearing about this. I mean, I knew about the big stalchildren, but I thought it was a random occurrence, and I never bothered fighting too many of the other two enemies because, on top of respawning infinitely like the stalchildren, they were a lot more annoying so I got away from them as soon as I could and forgot about them. I'm more surprised the "L is Real" plate is mentioned here, that's the kinda stuff I'd expect seeing at surface level on a Zelda iceberg video.
What I did not see in this video is the really big one that appears if you spend the whole night sequence finishing the stalchildren off. In this video the medium sized one was shown who is barely larger than the standard ones. You can see a huge one on the first gallery picture on the stalchild article on zelda gamepedia. And the screenshot was made at dawn, meaning the player really had to go fighing all night to have him spawn.
I never knew this simply because I would also just roll past and ignore them like people that try to talk to you on the street 🤣 they would swing at me but I’d roll by like “sorry gotta get back to my forest just had to pick up some milk from the ranch”

I had heard of the "butterfly on a Deku stick" thing, but everything on this list was new to me. Even the giant Leevers (maybe the stalchild?) had spawned for me, but I didn't know it was something a player could trigger. I just thought they existed and I had stepped on the right spot...
Reading your comment made me think of the butterflys in SM64, They give 1 ups for catching them!
Great to see you're doing vids on the older LoZ games Zeltik! Keep up the good work!
Ok that one 1:44 caught me off guard.
And would had been very scared it i discovered that first time I played OOT.
Kudos 😂
After binging a few of your episodes (avoiding BOTW spoilers as I am still playing) this showed up in my recommended and I’m happy it did :)
Nice ! Really, I didn't know most of those secrets and I've played OOT for more than 2 decades ! Thank you !
The mask facts blew my mind, being that I am almost thirty and played this game for hundreds of hours as a kid.
I went in to this saying there’s no way there’s a part of this game I don’t know already, and I learned a couple things !
Thank you.
I had no clue about the uses of the trading sequence masks! You learn something new every day
When I was little I was scared of the big stepchild. I also noticed that when the big lever shows up, the music changes to the battle theme, unlike the other leevers.
Dang these are awesome!! I wish I knew these when I was playing through OOT!
i didn't know the first one was considered a secret xD
Yea I know I discovered that the first week playing the game..
I knew it about the stalchildren but not the others
The butterfly deku stick secret just blew my heck ass mind.
yeah that made me curse out loud
Okay... I thought this was gonna be a video of things I already knew, but... kudos. I knew none of these! Interesting.
I didn’t know about the super fairies appearing at gossip stones. Did know about the green spots though 😄
