True! I'm thinking why are people saying she's acting black after becoming famous from doing something bad? Wouldn't that give Black people a bad light?
@@prim_manga9885 i wouldn't really say she became famous for doing something bad. It's more of the attitude that she portrays herself to carry. There are lots of kids who go on dr.phil that disrespect their parents. But to the public's view, it was so shocking to see her, a white female, sound like what many people believe to be, a black person. And she did so as if it were really herself. That's why she has so much hype around her. A white female acting like a black stereotype. Which does indeed put black people in a bad light because people equate bad grammar, cussing, unnecessary attitude etc. With black people. And it is especially bad when black people say that she is acting black. Because it pushes that narrative even further when black people confirm that she is indeed "acting black". Although they may just not have a better way of explaining it, but to others it pushes and confirms that stereotype in their minds that black people are indeed ignorant, have bad grammar, and attitudes. When I know many (including myself) black people that do not act that way.

She's not acting black. She thinks she's acting ghetto when raised in the suburbs. But plenty of us raised in the "ghetto" don't talk like that. White or black
@Summer Wooley I get what you mean and I honestly agree. I’m lightskinned mixed, (mostly black, but a little bit of white from my grandpa), and I don’t think I act “ghetto”. @@tr1stonn hey fam sorry about the struggles you've gone through, I just wanna say reading "I talk like a normal person" does not sound appropriate in any context

it's an occurring trend, when your name is sinking and people start forgetting about you, you aggravate the black community, and you're relevant again.
Storm Ororo It’s sad that we even have to point the problem out. And the people who make it about “oversensitivity” instead of the real issue, institutional oppression, are also a part of the problem.
@Bellalunarsoulz That is a long explanation that would probably best be addressed by an American history historian (and, if specifically wanting to talk abt the African American community, from African American Historians), but long story short, black people stereotypes (in the USA) originated from the time of slavery and evolved and changed from up to the modern day into the stereotypes we see now.
@Bellalunarsoulz stereotypes are an opinion or an observation (not a fact) based on what other people think of them. they come from judgement, something you can’t really help. stereotypes are just from our mind, and sometimes shape racism and discrimination. so although the original thought might have felt harmless and unintentional, it has bigger consequences. of course, i’m not a specialist or anything, but stereotypes aren’t formed with racist intents, but it contributes to racism.
@Bellalunarsoulz Stereotypes come from who you surround yourself with and what content you consume. That's the danger of one story. Just because you come in contact or consume content that portrays a group of people as one way doesn't mean you can use that one depiction and apply it to everyone in that group. That is irrational. People are different and that's okay.

Well, iirc, when you put that into context I think she meant like, not that she hated black people and their culture, but rather that she wouldn't want to be part of a marginalized group that has been and still is experiencing racism, harassment and prejudice on a daily basis. Which like doesn't make it as bad as hating black people and african american culture, but at the same time makes it kind of worse. Because not only are you appropriating black culture and trying to make yourself look black, you are doing so whole at the same time knowing that you will never experience the kind of systematic racism and hate that goes against black people. And like I get it she's a child and will likely grow out of it, but the older she gets the cringier she gets and the more icky the situation becomes. And she obviously thrives on the attention and is starved for it.

Weave Snatcher in some cases there’s not a mixed box to check so they literally have to choose a race since ethnically they are mixed but socially they are whatever race they resemble the most and must identify as such otherwise it’s a problem. Example is a darkskin mixed person is labeled black and says “no I’m mixed” then is told they don’t except they’re blackness and want to be a different race so bad but a light skin mixed person says “I’m black” then is told they’re not black, they’re mixed and just wanna be black so bad
"You can appreciate a culture without trying to act like that culture's stereotypes." Well said! I wear korean fashion a lot because I absolutely love the culture, but I don't try to put on korean mannerisms or stereotypes. It's a shame that we have to be so careful in this world, because some people might genuinely love a culture and want to participate in it, while others try to imitate the stereotypes for attention.
As a Korean myself, that sort of thing wouldn't offend me at all. I do believe cultural appropriation is an important discussion, but I hope eventually we can all cool off a little and not be so sensitive (of course some things are completely warranted). It flaters me when people can enjoy what korea has to offer:)
as [another] korean, i say go ham! idc if someone wears a hanbok as long as they are respectful of our culture, which you clearly are. you're definitely correct in that the current climate is really stifling some cultural appreciation because it's sometimes difficult to weed out the appropriators in the mix.
@L H i'm aware of the anti-blackness engrained in the asian community, and it's something that the community as a whole needs to better ourselves on. however, to paint all koreans as racist cultural appropriators is simply not true. i think that we should all treat each other with respect. i'm really sorry that you've seen so many instances of koreans appropriating black culture to the point that you believe that all of us are like this. but, i do care when a korean does this, and i will not claim them lol. i do think we're allowed to be offended if someone mocks our culture, just like you have the right to be offended when someone mocks yours. i think we minorities should stick together and support each other, which means being able to pick out the bad apples of the bunch. lots of love

There was a girl I went to school with. Her mom was white, dad was African American and passed away when she was really young. Her mon started bleaching her skin when she was really young. To the point where by senior year she no longer looked mixed she looks white. But even then I wouldn’t consider that cultural appropriation. She was just brain washed to believe that white skin is more beautiful then dark skin. Which is just heartbreaking. However white people trying to pass as POC are doing it because they think “it’s trendy, cool, etc” not because they are ensure about their skin color. Just my thoughts and opinion on the matter.
i'm pale & have avoided the sun for decades to slow signs of aging. i'm 40 & have been mocked my entire life for my skin color. men & women consistently urging that "tan & hot" is the way to be. while i do not disagree, i refused to subject myself to the damage it causes. & self tanner is way too much of a bitch. one of the main reasons white women claim tanning as so necessary is because darker skin hides flaws. it's like a form of makeup that covers their insecurities; cellulite, bruises, redness, veins, etc.
Laci Rae I don’t personally tan myself. I get a little tan just from being a very outdoorsy person. But I know plenty of women that will lay outside for HOURS and look like a whole different person
yes. i think a lot of the time it is stemmed from deep insecurities of their own skin. the deeper they tan, the deeper their insecurities are hidden. i am extremely self conscious about my skin, to the point of having dysmorphia. i don't have any crazy skin conditions or anything to justify my mental state, other than being bombarded my entire life that i'll never be attractive unless i darken my skin tone. along with agreeing that covering all of my flaws would make me far more attractive. on top of everyone around me looking flawless with tan skin (aside from amplifying the aging process). & women in the media are just intensifying all of the above. ...i very rarely wear tanner but i'm feeling strongly compelled to go roll in some right now...
Laci Rae well as a fellow extremely white skinned person I just have to point out that no matter how bullied we have gotten it will never ever compare to the systematic racism against black people. We still get the same rights to education, healthcare, jobs, etc. Black people and other poc don’t. We can’t take away from those issues, and that’s just facts. Random white grandma here. I just wanna say, I learn a lot on this channel. I appreciate your explanation of cultural appropriation, because until now, all I'd heard were people fighting about what it means. I think black is beautiful. So is white. Yeah, she's 17, but she acts 12. Severely stunted in every possible way except physically. I hope she finds real self-acceptance very soon.
@Marija B First of all, I'm not "elderly", I just turned 48 yesterday. Second, I get what you're saying, but idk if it's as deep as all that. I was horrifically abused by my mother in every way possible, so I understand that, too. Yes, Danielle IS trying to look ethnic. How can anyone NOT see that? My daughter went through a phase like that when she was roughly the same age as Danielle. She wanted people to think she grew up in the streets and was "hood", when in reality she was raised in predominantly white suburbs. Why? To get street cred, of course. It's sad that Danielle was abused. No child should EVER go through something so horrific. And I'm glad she's in rehab; she'll learn a lot about herself, and coping mechanisms. But her career will be over if she doesn't keep up her "Bhad Bhabie" persona. With any luck, she'll realize it's OK to just be herself, and surround herself with REAL friends and a rock solid support group. She's not too old to "re-brand" herself. Thank you for your input. Hope your day is beautiful, and you're staying safe out there. 😊💜
@Marija B i get that you are a product of your enviornment but she grew up in a prodominatly white neighborhood, meaning she had no influnce what so ever to low-income neighborhoods that are prodominatly people of color. even people who grew up in the hood don't act like that. she chooses to act this way. its especially offesive when people choose to act like the black stereotype or act like they've had enviornmental struggles when she had a family that was well-off. it creates a fake persona. now she is profiting off of just seeing the struggles of people who actually grew up in low-funded neighborhoods who have real expericences and passing them off as her own. she is completely changing herself to fit the black girl stereotype and the actual black girls who have something to say have no voice, instead it's an imposter who doesn't love herself enough to act like the person she truely is. the entire empire she has built herself around is toxic to herself and others around her. not only is she taking from black culture she mocks actual black people as if she doesn't do blackface. maybe you don't know the historical meaning behind blackface (google is free) but even now. black people go through so much by just being darker skinned and then you have this pale girl who can darken and lighten her skin as she pleases. she should know as a 17 year-old girl that that isn't right especially one that is on the internet 24/7 and is perfectly capable of using google to educate herself. cultrual-apporiation and trauma have ZERO correlarlation. all she is is profiting off of black culture and mocking the stereotype that hurt and effect black women every single day. you obviously know nothing about the influnce she has and ignorance you show in this comment. i understand that she has had traumtic expericences but that never be an excuse for someone to degrade a whole race like that, especially one who she is currently making money off of. it's disgusting. her actions and the people who think they can defend her.
@Marija B No, I understand your points, I just respectfully disagree with some of them. We can have our own opinions and I bet both of us are right in some way. And I only mentioned my daughter to say I know some of the reasons Danielle is the way she is. Danielle is a spoiled white girl trying to be the black stereotype. It doesn't really matter why she's doing it; it's still disrespectful the way she (badly) acts.

So many beautiful people doing something so dangerous and unnecessary... Lil Kim is the perfect example you used. Looking at her now I just feel so sad. We white folks have to do better, I know I've been guilty of stereotyping in the past. Now, my family is mixed with every gorgeous color there is, and I couldn't be happier. Hope you have an awesome day, and stay safe out there!
Thank you for noticing and calling her out for using the word "urban" to describe black people! She thought she was clever by saying "thats how other people describe black people, as urban" but we see what she really did there.
I've noticed you pushing your glasses up a lot, I wear glasses too and I get this problem a lot. I've discovered that you can fix it if you slightly tighten the little screws on your glasses, it'll make them a bit tighter around your head and should stop them from sliding down so much :)
"my experience doesn't come with an off switch" that is, one THE best ways I've heard someone explain it. Sometimes it's difficult to put the black experience into words, because you're explaining it, you're usually explaining it to people who DON'T LIVE IN IT and NEVER HAVE LIVED THROUGH IT.
che that’s not a good enough one though just use the one our parents and grandparents have been using all our lives. Everyone wants to be black till it’s time to be black. Till the cops show up Till it’s time to apply for a loan Till u wanna get into school Till ur trying to rent an apartment Till you’re getting tried for a crime u did not commit Till you wanna open up a business Literally they only wanna be black when it’s time to be sexy, dance, or cook. Otherwise we’re invisible to them.
I used to cringe seeing “Native American” designs on cheap tshirts but I realize now that it’s all symbolism anyways. Even the symbol of my native clan is all out there for travelers to see on the interstate and a non-native can easily replicate it in glass art. It shows artist had to move into the capitalist mindset to make a living. In our generation we’re all trying to sell our individualism.
In my culture we sadly call each other out on how Hopi someone is. I was born and raised in Phoenix eventually moved to Hopi and Navajo reservation only to grow up houseless and to grow up in the boarding school system. For all that I’m called “white” just because, I didn’t grow up with them. I even wanted to be “white” in my teenage years. I would resort to hiding my skin from the sun just so I don’t tan. But because of circumstances in my life at 22 I don’t care anymore about race because look at what’s it done to Native America, a lot of us can’t even trace our ancestry because of historical trauma. It upsets me that our water and land defenders who are putting their lives on the line, don’t get enough support they need to keep the government away from our “culture” they already destroyed. But I guess this is how the prophecy goes with all of us losing our minds.
Small question. As a European I'm not really well read on Native American culture. But all that i do know is really interesting to me. The stories, beliefs and art I find beautiful. I would like to know more. Where would I find sources/books etc that you would recommend. As you grew up in this culture?
I live in Europe and I'm not black. Once one of my ex's friends got a new girlfriend and messaged my ex: "Dudee my first black girlfriendd I'm so excited". This (seemingly innocent) message disgusted me so much. He didn't mean it in a bad way and was "open minded and modern", but it brought me a whole new perspective about fetishising certain races, especially on women. Everyone goes through different things, but please let's not pretend that we actually can understand the black experience. Unfortunately everywhere in the world they experience really weird things :(
thierry I think the reason why they found saying this as bad is because the expect something from fetishizing a race is bad to begin with. I don’t think it’s bad to like a certain race but there are people who expect everyone in each race to act the same way which becomes fetishization of a race.
thierry also sorry I said race when you asked about ethnicity but black is a race not an ethnicity. If it’s about ethnicity it’s a little similar in the sense that expectations are the same. Not every Latina is gonna act the same just like not every European is gonna act the same. It’s all about the fetishization of confronting expectations set on a stereotype.
I dont rly see a problem tbh like u said his intentions werent bad and ppl can freely prefer to date one race over the other just like how someone can prefer to date people older, taller etc
@@lizbethramirez543 I don't think it's right to say all of a certain race act the same. But to me you can't deny that people with similar ancestry have similarities at least physically.
The whole “I’m not acting black because you can’t act a color” is so deflecting. She’s purposely ignoring the obvious point people are making and it’s an easy way out. Nobody accusing her of black fishing thinks that her behavior is anything but her imitating a stereotype. That’s a huge reason why it’s offensive to people in the first place... She’s trying to pretend like she lives in a vacuum when it’s convenient.
Honestly. Nobody is saying you can act a color, we're saying YOU think that and you are ATTEMPTING to act as a STEREOTYPE because YOU believe in them not us. I'm white but when I saw the pic of her when she was first tanned and had her hair away from her face at first glance I thought she was MIXED and was confused why this girls pic was next to Danielle in the Dr Phil interview. And then I looked closer and it was Danielle... EDIT: I don't think she looks mixed in any pictures except 1, the one of her tanned in a towel.
Maggie Peyton yea maybe we should say “stop acting like a stereotypical African American” and watch her struggle to think of a rebuttal that’s intelligent
CallmeZ sadly I don’t think the people who actually get the opportunity to interview her are really invested in challenging her. It’s just a hot topic question so they ask. They take her answer and don’t have a rebuttal themselves. I’d be interested to see her questioned more in depth about her hairstyle choices by a person who could really debunk her claim that “no single culture owns a hairstyle” .
Being in cosmetology school we learned that hair has a lot of meaning to different cultures and certain hairstyles played a key role in the growth and development of a young woman/male in their respective cultures. Some cross over like a basic braid but there are some sacred styles.
Pete Davidson made a joke saying he couldn't spray paint himself brown and hop on the cover of Vogue like Ariana Grande and get away with it 😂😂😂 love her music but he's not wrong 😬
He is 100% wrong. Ariana is nowhere near this level of tan, and all those fake ass edits which whiten her skin on victorious and darken that one photo from the AMAs red carpet have been debunked. I'm about done with this lame ass man commenting on a woman looking the way he does. Also, dude joked about the Manchester bombing while he was dating her, class act.

True! I'm thinking why are people saying she's acting black after becoming famous from doing something bad? Wouldn't that give Black people a bad light?
no she’s acting like what she believes all black ppl act like
@@prim_manga9885 i wouldn't really say she became famous for doing something bad.

CloudyOaf then once they slip back into irrelevance they come out with an apology video crying on camera and boop they’re back
Amandabb has a great video about this topic of using black outrage to make a profit
why do people think being black is a personality trait
Stereotypes
It's sad but that's why

Which like doesn't make it as bad as hating black people and african american culture, but at the same time makes it kind of worse. “you can appreciate a culture without trying to act like that cultures stereotypes” YES YES EXACTLY
i’m second gen american born chinese (my grandparents fled from the rise of mao in china to taiwan when they were teens or so then came over to america for college) and biracial (half white from my dads side) and my ex partner is hispanic and native american and while together we introduced each other to little words and phrases and traditions we find fun and take part in them because we think it’s interesting and we loved each other but we didn’t act out the stereotypes of each other’s cultures. we even had cute nicknames in multiple languages for each other (neither of us are bilingual but with the words we do know we’ve come up with some. my favorite is when i found out the mandarin endearing form of baby and not just the word for baby and that there’s a different one. the word is bǎobèi and it’s the cutest thing ever.)
like you can have a healthy respect for other cultures and learn from each other and even mix some things together without making it weird or becoming the other culture cause in no way am i claiming nor will i ever claim to be hispanic and same with them and not claiming to be chinese. you can learn a culture and their traditions and become a part of the family without claiming to be that and without being disrespectful
another example is my sibling’s roommate, who we’ve taught how to make dumplings (that was a fun day) and also introduced to egg drop soup (literally my favorite food ever and hers too now) we have family dinner every sunday so we’ve had plenty of time to do that and that’s just us eating and making food and usually talking about shiny hunting pokemon while doing it haha
like it’s so easy to be respectful i don’t know why people take it so far like this like respect is literally so easy and like when people tell me “too far, back off” it’s not my place to argue with them it’s just like any other boundary i just say ok and do something else i know they’re comfortable with. like it’s so easy to respect people and their cultures yet these people treat it like a chore😂
sorry had to edit some of this because my ex partner and my sibling have since both come out as nonbinary and the partner i mentioned here is not my partner anymore but the point still stands

It's not like she is trying to be black but she is trying to seem tough and it's just kinda sad

The thing about black fishing is most of the woman aren’t trying to look black, they’re trying to look mixed. They want to pass as racially ambiguous 🤷🏾♀️
morghan kimes when you’re mixed your still black.
evie Nah that kinda cancels out the blackness mixed people are just that mixed
evie yea you’re still black if your mixed, however when she says some women are trying to look mixed, she means that people want to have features that mixed people are commonly known to have. The light skin, lighter eye color, hair that’s more wavy/curly, etc. 😊
As a mixed person it’s really a weird experience to see someone wanting to be what you always wanted to avoid

I wear korean fashion a lot because I absolutely love the culture, but I don't try to put on korean mannerisms or stereotypes. Pointless Garbage THIS!!!!! As someone who loves learning about other cultures, especially their fashions, it’s really infuriating to see people like Danielle Bregoli straight up appropriating culture. I’m really into Indian fashion, but I know my anglo ass ain’t Indian!!! I think Indian women are very beautiful and I would love to be invited to an Indian event so that I could respectively wear a Saree or Lehenga, but I would never darken my face and fake an accent. That would just be racist and horribly ignorant. A lot of people would love to learn more about other cultures and appreciate those cultures by listening to the music, wearing some of the clothes, learning the language, but they’re afraid of being associated with people like her. People who do things like this just make it so much harder for culture to be shared and respected
Thanks for this. Sometimes I’m scared that listening to music from a culture I’m not a part of is appropriation, but I’m too scared to ask anyone.
Been wondering why people see appropriation as such a bad thing.. isn't everyone allowed to be whoever they want? Culture doesn't belong to anyone in my eyes. Also, she doesn't hurt anybody (except herself maybe) and maybe by being an unhealthy idol for young girls her age.

cultural appropriation is:
✖︎ appreciating a culture, understanding the meanings of cultural items, wear, structures, knowing the language (etc.)
✔︎ pretending to be another race/from another culture, acting as if you are a race/nationality/part of a culture that you're not, being disrespectful toward other cultures while trying to imitate them
lmk if i'm missing something
also i feel like it can include being disrespectful towards other cultures while trying to be apart of those cultures. like how danielle said that she could wear anything from any culture and look good just because she wants to. she’s disrespecting everyone in the black community but then wants to look like them just because she can and claims she can do it better and that we’re just jealous. it’s insensitive and a shame

Is it okay if you wear something like cornrows (as a white person), like so long as you know that it comes from a different culture, and you don’t act any differently than yourself (or try to look not white)? Obviously I don’t expect any single person to talk for everyone, but I hope that with a grouping of comments I can gather a general consensus and hear many arguments.

@@tiffanyn.5119 Easy. Living on the streets basically. Romanticizing this life and make it a lifestyle. Maybe she is from rough upbringing?
Since we don't wanna link black people to ghetto exclusively, we need to acknowledge that all races can end up living with little money, rough circumstances, connections to "the streets", therefore living 'ghetto'. That's what she calls urban. Not urban would be educated, eloquent, elegant, etc. Urban is meant to be rough, 'real', etc. .
Where I live, that's mostly the case. Many middle class and rich people of course. And the bitter truth of people living on the streets, or in small flats, 15 people in a household, yelling, cussing, no education, bad education, no support, child work?, Drugs definetly. That's urban. For her. And same with racial catfishing: only taking the bad without taking all of it.
But seriously. She has such a mother? Who drags her out, can't handle her etc?? She has an urban upbringing. She is legit.

What an incredibly sad story :(
Laci Rae well as a fellow extremely white skinned person I just have to point out that no matter how bullied we have gotten it will never ever compare to the systematic racism against black people. We should all love the color we are, and take pride in our own culture, while respecting others' culture. Danielle Brigolli is an embarrassment no matter what she does.
We got an educated one! Thank you so much.
It doesn't really matter why she's doing it; it's still disrespectful the way she (badly) acts.

that is, one THE best ways I've heard someone explain it. Sometimes it's difficult to put the black experience into words, because you're explaining it, you're usually explaining it to people who DON'T LIVE IN IT and NEVER HAVE LIVED THROUGH IT.
Try this phrase: Everyone wants to be black until the cops show up.
@@alexsmith2910 that is a good phrase. imma try that
che that’s not a good enough one though just use the one our parents and grandparents have been using all our lives. Everyone wants to be black till it’s time to be black.
Till the cops show up
Till it’s time to apply for a loan
Till u wanna get into school
Till ur trying to rent an apartment
Till you’re getting tried for a crime u did not commit
Till you wanna open up a business
Literally they only wanna be black when it’s time to be sexy, dance, or cook. Otherwise we’re invisible to them.
I swear this man could be a lawyer and win every case he got
Everyone would just keep trying to get him to keep talking so they can listen to his soothing voice

Unfortunately everywhere in the world they experience really weird things :(
Is liking a certain ethnicity bad?
thierry I think the reason why they found saying this as bad is because the expect something from fetishizing a race is bad to begin with.
Middle schoolers now look like highschoolers when i was in middle school
This is very insightful. Great input
Being in cosmetology school we learned that hair has a lot of meaning to different cultures and certain hairstyles played a key role in the growth and development of a young woman/male in their respective cultures. Some cross over like a basic braid but there are some sacred styles.
Dangelo: “you click on it, you know how long it was.”
Me: *immediately check the time stamp* ouuuuuh yesss
Ong same I was so exited
Sine Ismina I did the same 😂
It was time for the *tea*
The fact that she got famous in the first place hurts. Give it to someone who deserves it, like dangelo wallace
The creepy thing is the guys following her and sexualizing her when she is a teenager like 🤢
Pete Davidson made a joke saying he couldn't spray paint himself brown and hop on the cover of Vogue like Ariana Grande and get away with it 😂😂😂 love her music but he's not wrong 😬
You said. I didn't
Koujoung I definitely don't agree with him and all his comedy but I mean have you seen photos of her??? It's clear
@@Koujoung WDYM?! When she was Cat on that show she was hella white and ik she is latina and I have many latina friends who are a whole range of skin tones and yes, she could just tan but the change of skin tone is much to great to be natural
Almost forgot about the Africana Grande meme. And also for everyone being sour af in here. Chill tf out. Even Ariana has joked about it too. And it was a funny joke lol.
“Photoshopping away her organs” made me laugh way to much.
