Dangelowallece: calls out himself for spreading misinformation, confronts his mistake in a mature manner and sincerely apologise. *everyone liked that*
If only all youtubers were like d’angelo! Also, the fact that he said he didn’t receive a single hate comment and only got constructive criticism?? That proves he has built a really positive and mature audience.
Bro that put up a mental image of D’Angelo wearing a unicorn horn with like rainbows and sparkles in the background but like he still has that serous expression he always has. Made me cackle.

I like him but I'm sick of 20-soumething UA-camrs trying to age-shame 30-something UA-camrs, like they're not part of our generation. I get it that these guys want to seem cool to get views by pandering to teens & young kids. In reality, YT personalities like D'Angelo have way more in common with that 30yo than he does with his teen fans.
@@bwnnie ikr! Like why would he actually explain where he went wrong?! He should've just cried for 20 minutes and barely apologized. We don't need the extra commentary smh
Why does no one seem to understand that drugs aren’t the only thing that can give you a bad memory? Mental illnesses, chronic lack of sleep, neurological problems, some medications and heck even just straight up bad genes can all cause problems with memory. It is gross for anyone to assume that anyone else is using drugs purely based off of a single comment about their memory.
I almost feel like the way she made the video, she should have had a private conversation with her if she was actually concerned instead of making speculations... Which really makes me feel like she wasnt concerned for her well-being.... I get it but she could have went about the video another way
About the mental health , absolutely. The way she hesitated before saying drug abuse tells me that she knows what she wanted to say was horrible yet she said it anyway. It really had me face palming and smh from that point on
My anxiety does that to me :( . I do not trust myself and double check 10 times because I cant remember . Once even wasnt sure if i handed in an exam knowing damn well it is impossible i didnt but still couldnt remember me handing it to the prof
A bad memory is not the same as completely forgetting about a painful procedure. Especially when tattoos are usually something you have to decide on or design first. Yes a neurological disorder or DID would explain this, too. But what’s more likely?
Really? I think he's only doing it because he got backlash and he doesn't genuinely regret anything... I mean he's this whole freaking video saying he was right apart from like one thing LMAO
I know this is an old video and no one will ever see this comment but I’m so glad to see creators own something they said or did. It shows growth and maturity.
especially to see him not beat around the bush and actually address the specific things that he did wrong. this was an actual apology, not some bs statements from the beauty community!
I feel the same way. This is literally the best apology video I've ever seen. Like this is the example essay that you have to read during Starr testing. Now I know how to make an apology if I ever become famous lol
Instead of reducing them to “trolls” and exaggerating the criticism to subtly victimize themselves and manipulate their audience into defending them. Just saw an example of it last night from a youtuber I otherwise respect. So yea, it is REFRESHING and rare.
‼️This apology is FAKEEE‼️ 1) he didn’t start with his hand by the camera and then slowly pulled back 2) he didn’t to the big sigh 3) no tears 4) there was no “I’m a different person than I was then” 5) he made too much sense Open ur eyes people

Young Sir ..good job. You have more character in your little pinky than many have in their whole body. If this is where you are starting I think you have so many things to look forward to in your life 😀. (hopefully given climate change and crazy geopolitics that could end up being a real bummer but in no way your fault) I have been on the platform for 7 years and this is the first apology video that does it correctly and honesty.
Shane Dawson’s video was in my “Recommended” for several days. And I refused to click because it was 1 hour and 13 minutes. I told myself “yeah right! I’m not spending that much time watching a UA-cam video”...eventually I clicked on it and thought I would leave after the first 5 minutes. Fast forward to 3 days later...I’ve watched not only Shane’s video, but Jeffrey’s, Tati’s, Ma’am...you’re 30 and Ma’am...I’m sorry...that’s approximately 4.5 hours of my time I’ve spent watching a 21 year old speak in front of a microphone. This dude is so eloquent, concise and well prepared, it blows my mind to think about the fact that he’s only 21! I really enjoy your videos, D’Angello, and can’t wait to be all caught up with the rest of them. Keep up the good work. I see a great future ahead for you (as long as you stay out of drama haha).
you missed the part where you're sitting on the floor against your bed even though your bed is right there, with tear stains, furrowing your eyebrow, sighing heavily, and saying, "i've tried to make this video...so many times."
I'm honestly more impressed by someone who can see their mistakes and apologise for them rather than someone who never makes mistakes Also props for going back and specifying where you were wrong and what you still agree with instead of apologising for the whole video
The fact that Dangelo was able to read comments from his own viewers talking about his mistakes and he apologized and admitted he was wrong instead of immediately assuming it was just people hating on him is so refreshing. Hes one of the only youtubers I have EVER seen being this genuine in their apology
As a heavily tattooed person, I understand Lauren’s concerns and how she expresses them. There’s a lot of responsibility with tattoos and I understand where she’s coming from. But, I do think she could have been less...astounded. The theatrics were too much especially for someone she doesn’t personally know.
All her concerns are valid ones to HAVE, but some of them were unprofessional of her to voice publicly. Calling out unsafe practices is 100% fine, and I do absolutely agree with Lauren on the fact that Blake shouldn't be teaching folks unsafe techniques. However, concerns about Blake's possible substance use, lack of concern for their own future, and parental situation should've either been kept to herself, or discussed privately with Blake. I had all of those concerns about Blake too, when I watched D'Angelo's initial video. But I wouldn't have ever aired out someone else's dirty laundry in public like Lauren did, and definitely not in such a sensationalized way.
I fully agree with you. I got my first (and until now, only) tattoo when I was 18. I designed it at 16 and during those two years I contemplated very thoroughly if I really want to get it tattooed (my mom would've allowed me to get one tattoo at 16 (because I've always wanted one) but in the end I waited till 18 anyway). I just think you shouldn't take tattoos lightly as they're, obviously, permanent and that's why I really wanted to get something done that's very meaningful to me. Because in the end, you'll never know how you're going to think about it in 5, 10, 15, ..., years and there's so many people regretting (some of) the tattoos they've gotten. Now, obviously, it's everyone's own choice and it's their own body, so you do you, boo... but I really do understand the concerns because it's sad to see someone having to go through this and then saving up money to either get a cover up or get it removed (which is probably really painful). And of course, there's a very good reason that you have to be a certain age to get tattooed because oh my, as a 14 year old, I'd have wanted to get a skull tattooed but now as a 21 year old, I definitely do not want that anymore. So, in conclusion, Lauren made a well-meaning video but failed at delivering it. However, I do agree with @@jacklandismusic 's comment, I had the same thoughts while I was watching D'Angelo's first video on the situation... but as they also said, these are matters that should *not* be speculated on in a youtube video. Lauren could've voiced those concerns to Blake by directly and privately reaching out to them.
Lauren’s age and tattoo experience actually makes me more inclined to think she had good intentions towards Blake. Where impact didn’t match the intent was with the implications about her family/substance abuse-I’ll admit I felt the same concerns watching Blake’s clips, but those are huge accusations to make in public, especially towards a high-schooler. I think both of you had valid points expressed in imperfect ways, which happens sometimes! Your reaction to criticism was definitely more level-headed and mature.
As a teenager rn I think I could kind’ve see from Blake’s point of view. I mean I haven’t tattooed myself because I have eczema and it’s gets really bad when the seasons change however if I didn’t have that I probably would have tattooed myself by now. I also assure you that non of my family do substances or ignore me in anyway, but I think it’s just a teen thing to do. Blake is most likely going to regret those tattoos in a couple years however if I was them and Lauren said anything about me doing substances or my family doing substances I would have lost it. That later part of her video really wouldn’t help anyone in this situation. But idk just my opinion🧍
@@flimsyenthusiasm5769 I don't think the substance abuse assumption was based on Blake's tattoos, but on the fact that they said they don't remember making some of them. That usually implies you were under some kind of influence :/ Even if that wasn't the case and the lack of memory was for any other reason, the mere fact that they spread unsanitary ways of getting a tattoo by yourself for teenagers is super problematic. That can lead to infections or even worse. The thing is, when teenagers are looking for how to do certain stuff online, they don't usually care for the consequences, and that's why making that sort of content available is ad in the first place. I know Blake is a teenager themself, but their parents really should be more concerned about what their kid is doing online IMO. I understand what you're saying tho, and I agree.
I actually really like this guy. he isn't like other 'drama channels' who talk about tea and petty stuff, he talks about genuine things in a mature and genuine way. It's clear he's not just here to bandwagon and spread drama, but to educate people on events. Which he does very well, he goes into a lot of detail and never leaves out points or tries to censor tricky subjects. I'm glad to see them making a community that isn't all about spreading drama and hate, but can recegnise when they're wrong and step back and apologise. I think it's what the internet needs
@ You're not a realist, trust me. No one asked but you came and decided to be negative to someone else's comment, even if it's not full of facts, it's still their own opinion. Sweetie, thats pessimism :b
damn, most influencers would just wait until the point they're "cancelled" until creating a half-ass apology video... proceeding to take down the video that contains said mistakes. i didn't even see anything wrong with your video until you pointed it out
I got a badly done tattoo underage and unsanitarily AND I regret it, AND I still agreed with pretty much everything he said in the original video. To be honest I still don’t see anything wrong with 99% of what he said, but I do appreciate him taking the time to make this video and face the music.
I don't think it's projecting, more like: 'Hey I made the same mistake when I was a dumb kid, and now I wish to warn people about jumping to hand/neck tattoos too quickly' Which is, well understandable
@@goldenbunnies4143 there is no way to go about it well. Kids who are determined enough to tattoo them selfs (i was one, lol) aren’t gonna be stopped. Laurens video is bringing up more than just this point, but if she was like “hey i did this and it sucks” kids would be like “that’s your problem i want a hand tattoo” bc that’s how teens are and they don’t think long term. I’m not saying everything Lauren did was right, but it seems all of it came from a place of concern for Blake rather than an attack on them.
But she didn’t say it as respectful as that. She said it in a very rude way telling her she WILL be the upset in the future. Listen to her choice of words.
Being a heavily tattooed mother to a tattooed child I made her promise not to EVER do a stick and poke/home tattoo as it is very dangerous. For her 18th birthday I took her for her first tattoos. I think it’s important for an adult to point out the danger in unsanitary tattooing conditions. However, once she goes off the topic of safe tattooing practices she absolutely loses me.
My child's father is a tattoo artist. They take having a proper apprenticeship very seriously and an artist with any morals won't tattoo someone under 18. And will use their good judgement when recommending placement. And will deter someone, who isn't already heavily tattooed, to avoid their face, neck, and hands. My child is also not getting tattoos until she is 18 as well.
Priscilla ff the way I did it was I told her she could get whatever she wanted and I would pay for it. If she got one before 18 the bet was off and she would be on her own. Plus a couple other immediate punishments I can’t remember. I’m 38 and I was in HS when piercing started becoming popular. I went to a seedy place to have it done and I did NOT want my kid getting a backyard tattoo. Mostly for safety reasons too. Sounds like you and your child’s dad share a similar philosophy.
yess!!! my mom was the same way! Im 20 now and have several tattoos and some of my friends MY AGE would rather have unsafe tattoos for cheaper so their parents dont figure it out from cost when they hide them. It freaks me out im terrified theyre gonna get infections
My parents told me to never get a tattoo before I'm 18 just so I don't have regrets after. They explained to me and I trusted them. Now I have 8 tattoos, all done after 23. And I'm happy I didn't made them before just for the sake of doing them. Even if they dislike them, we still have a great relationship. I think having a good relationship with your child and explain them how things are working in a proper loving way, it's better than saying no without providing some arguments.I loved how you explained to your child, that's a healthy atitude. Good job.
Did you even watch the video?? He didnt even fake cry once!! Smh I'm disappointed. He didnt even say he was in a dark place. -1000/10 apology video (This is a joke if that wasnt clear)
i saw the video earlier, and while i did agree with several points, i did think it was unusually harsh compared to your other content. i really appreciate how honest this apology is. you're not deflecting criticism, but you're not pandering to try and get people off your back either. i've always found you to be really genuine in the videos you make, and this one is no exception. keep it up, dude
teethbandit that’s where I was- although I agreed with D’Angelo on most of his points, I also agreed with TreacleTatts with some of her points. When I watched his video I wanted to leave a comment just like “I don’t know how to feel” because honestly, I have such mixed emotions. Both her and he were giving some good points. I do feel TreacleTatts was being harsh about some stuff, like I think she should have absolutely never made any mentions of drugs in regards of a kid, or mental health- because it’s not like she made a video about a hugely known creator, like someone who had a full blown mental breakdown on camera, and she definitely doesn’t have enough to go by to make that claim publicly. If she was just like “I feel weird that they can’t remember giving themselves a tattoo, but that’s not my place” I feel that would have been enough. Express that made you uncomfortable, but don’t make speculations when it’s not your place. But I actually agreed with a lot of the other things she said, even if she was harsh on some other points i agreed it was concerning (one thing I can think of off the top of my head being that their mom doesn’t know the tattoos are real- I feel that is extremely concerning because you don’t know your kid gave themselves a tattoo? I do think she should have refrained from saying “this is borderline stupidity” tho. So I agree with her thoughts on some stuff, but not her way of expressing it). So I’m glad he made this video, not because I felt he needed to apologize because he really didn’t have to but I am glad he was big enough to do so- but I’m glad he did it because it helped me put together my own thoughts on the situation. Also on the hand tattoos. I have watched TreacleTatts videos several times, I am also a big fan of tattoos and love learning about the do’s and don’ts, or my own do’s and don’ts - and getting hand or neck tattoos either when you’re young or don’t have a lot of tattoos is considered a don’t to most people, including tattoo artists, because they are visible and because if you get a tattoo that is hidden- if you regret it later, you can hide it from being shown, and the point D’Angelo talked about with the safety net of jobs and just general safe nets. But yes I agree again- the execution of the original video, TreacleTatts, was a bit off. Tl:dr, glad he made this video, I just rant about my thoughts on all these videos.
agreed! I think pointing out the dangers of self-tattooing(?) is very useful but I don't understand why a grown adult should go after a child so harsly. Also if you're REALLY concerned about this specific kid, why not talk to them directly?
Her whole fucking channel is about that. That video is probably one of the few where she doesn't get too deep with safety measures. I also think it is common sense to avoid stabbing your skin with a needle in an unsterilized environment. I'm not angry, mind you, but she made tons of videos where she talks about the consequences of unsanitary tattoo practices.
Fruitorsch You might want to be aware that some people who are unfamiliar with Treacle Tatts or “her whole fucking channel” would not know if not mentioned in the highlighted video. Chill.
Can’t say I still agree with all of your points but I respect them. I also respect how you corrected yourself and apologised. Also, this may be just me and I could be wrong, but I detect some real sadness at the end there. Your voice seemed to quiver a bit and looked as if you got a tad tearful at the thought of any of your subs being disappointed. Got me a bit emosh man, honestly felt for you, you seem very genuine.
bruh i was looking for a comment that said this... and if u look closely his nose gets red which happens in another video where he visibly and obviously tears up(the first shallon lester video) ... this just goes to show that he truly and genuinely is sorry and doesn’t want to hurt or offend anyone

I'm really glad you stuck with the parts of the video that you still agreed with, instead of pretending you had entirely changed your mind about all of it just because you got backlash. Not only because I agree with you on those points, but also because it's just a lot more genuine than many UA-camrs are willing to be.

@Violet Verdict true but the only other time I’ve seen him look upset like that was when he was talking about how his grandparents almost died.. so I think it’s pretty telling
See this right here? This is why I like D'Angelo. It takes a mature person to admit they're wrong. I am so proud of this random internet dude I have never met and never will.
I’m happy that you didn’t take down your video. I hate when influencers do that. Your basically saying that you didn’t make that mistake and then leave a video up apologizing. This makes me happy that D’angelo put on his big boy pants and owned up.
The only time I think it would be appropriate to take a video down would be if it's incredibly damaging to the person you're talking about. The old video I don't think is so damaging that it would warrant being taken down, but if he made a wilder accusation against the woman then it would be better to remove it because if some rando came across it and didn't see the retraction video it could be really damaging.
Watching the “ma’am you’re thirty” video left me feeling a little uncomfortable towards the end of the video. Than I clicked onto your next , and what do you know: accountability. You’re very wise for your young age!
Dude, this is genuine. Even though I agree with most of your original video THIS is genuine to show you're aware of the bigger picture. No one does this anymore IRL. Respect you even more.
I need to stress something as a professional tattooer that you probably didnt think about, but in most states tattooing in your home is ILLEGAL. And in other states you need to have a license and be inspected. I think that's a real concern with the parents that this child could be spreading diseases illegally
Yeah, and it also made me wonder if the reason she specifically said substances was because that is illegal. But I am probably giving her too much credit.

I can't believe I only found this channel a few days ago. The video about Shane popped up in my recommended, and I couldn't care less about that, but there was a tag that said "Jarvis Johnson's viewers watch this" or something like that. And I thought "Well if Jarvis' subscribers approve then it has to be good" and I'm so happy that I clicked on the video. I've been on this god forsaken site for 15 years and I have never seen a creator like D'Angelo. This is too high quality for UA-cam. And I'm so happy that his channel blew up because of the beautuber stuff. He deserves it.
The Shane video is kind of on another level tho. Like you don't really need to be invested in the saga to be mindblown by it. But I agree his videos in general are for sure solid no doubt and I think he's on the vanguard or forefront of this new wave of commentary channels (i.e. thoughtfully measured and left leaning) that I've been really enjoying
I was a self harming child who, sadly, did "tattoo" myself but it was... Let's just say more unhygienic and the results were worse. I feel very worried for this young person and I hope they are OK.

I would say that it's unacceptable that she speculates that Blake's parents are stupid but I think its very concerning that Blake's parents don't see a problem with what they are doing and haven't looked into the fact that their child, which they are legally responsible for, is permanently marking their body without their parents knowledge.
@@boilingsoda which is the reason for the concern. They are a minor who could be in danger or at the very least, extremely neglected. Their parents should be called out.
@@nowhere8130 Do you know how easy nowadays it is to manipulate parents? They might not be dumb but she might just be "clever" in her way. I used to get inkbox, fake tattoos for months, and like two weeks ago I had my first real tattoo and my parents still think it is fake because I told them about inkbox and those super realistic tattoos! But my parents are not dumb, I just manipulated them, I am in the wrong, not my parents. They never neglected me, they trusted me. Who are you to know if Blake did not use the same trick? Even more, knowing that they are a minor, maybe the parents trust professional workers thinking that they will never tattoo them? Maybe they don't know that you can buy tattoo needles on amazon? I didn't, I always thought it was fake. Don't go around accusing people of neglect not knowing them, it is really bad and can hurt the family and the parents. As a daughter who wronged my family for years with my actions, I know how hard it is to move on when you trusted your daughter and all you feel now is disappointment.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an apology video where someone went back through basically the entirety of the original video like this. Mad props for calmly and maturely tackling it like this! :)
“today i wanna talk about how i was wrong and WHY i was wrong, and i want to apologize for being wrong.” literally less than 15 seconds in and i’m already thinking this is going to be a jenna marbles level of genuine apology. good job. youtubers, take notice. this is a good example of how to handle criticism or just being flat-out wrong in a situation instead of deflecting any advice, constructive or otherwise, that your viewers and those personally involved try to give you. this is how you don’t come off as arrogant and just plain gross: admit you did something bad. own up to why that thing was a bad thing and apologize. d’angelo, it’s nice seeing more creators that can just... own up to something they’ve done or at the very least just *realize* that it wasn’t the best choice. it sounds sarcastic to me just typing it out, but genuinely: good on you for having a brain AND being a pretty alright human being.
I guess it’s absolutely insane to think that a minor child should have freedom to do WHATEVER they want, as illegal as it is. I’m confused as to how a 15 year old can go through saying they’ve been homeless, have been abusing themselves, and their parents in turn abusing and neglecting her, then have other children egg her on and go about saying it’s no ones business after it’s been transferred into a public platform. You’re right, it’s not our business anymore. It’s the government’s. I’m shocked no one has ever called the police to do a well check. That’s how you know no one actually cares or else they would have made enough noise to have the child removed and in a better situation. Just a bunch of teenagers egging each other on doing absolutely destructive crap.
Mary Poppins you must be pretty privileged cuz teen homelessness is common where I come from and a lot of the time police don’t do shit even in cases where both the parents and child are on drugs/being abused/ etc.. :/
Emo Fucktard I’m privileged because I expect people who are paid to do a certain job, to do their job? Lmfao dude I grew up in the Soviet Union. My family survived the Holocaust by hiding out in the mountains. We had to collect scrap metal to get food on the table. I think privileged is the wrong word here.
Mary Poppins ah the commenter obviously misstepped by calling you privileged but I get why they said it-your comment reads as surprised and appalled at the lack of intervention given to kids in these tough situations. The surprise seems innocent/naive cause as the comment said-the system often doesn’t do jackshit to help these kids and some people are simply used to dealing with that fact. You’re completely right and the whole idea that these kids are effectively abandoned is horrifying, but it’s unfortunately quite normalized to myself and others (which fucken sucks cause desensitization and cynicism is just a shit place to be). When I read your comment, I realized how disillusioned I am tbh cause I felt none of the same shock at the lack of intervention. Also, I am sorry that you were called privileged; you and your family have obviously gone through unspeakable hardship, and my heart goes out to you.

she used Blake as an example to a younger audience (who may or may not follow them). The majority of Blake's followers are young and impressionable, so I think the lady was just trying to alert them before it's too late
@@nyssiaeiko3476 I do agree with that, but I do think it’s a laps in judgement rather than malicious. Blake does have a larger plattform too to it’s not like she is anonimys either. It’s a hard one.
I think Lauren should have made a separate video, addressed to all young people (without calling out anyone in particular), on the topic of self tattooing for teens and her opinion that is informed by her experiences with it, instead of in the video about Blake, because it unfairly attaches them to it. The video about them should have just covered the unsanitary practices and ended there. No unacceptable speculation on substance abuse, no inappropriate speculation on their home life, and the opinions about tattoos on teens in a seperate video that is in no way attached to Blake.

It's good if you are talking about truly terrible people but some people make videos that just speculate just because someone might make a clumsy or problematic video whether they mean well or not and then gets ripped to shreds because now it's out there as free material, so one person speculates about someone, then another about them, and then back and forth for a while, it all generates views because it's drama and youtube viewers love the drama.
@@Goldenretriever-k8m then it sounds like someone other than D'angelo should be making an apology video. The poor 16 yr old doesn't deserve being accused of being a druggy and have their reputation dragged through the mud. Guidance is fine, empathy is fine but to slander someone is not fine. Sure Lauren made some good points but i don't agree she with what she did where blake is concerned. That little girl deserves justice plain and simple.
This is why I like you and your content a lot, I like how you know you gotten some parts wrong and some right. It’s nice seeing creators like you going back to address stuff in a genuine and levelheaded manner. Edit: OH YEA I FORGIVE YOU
Sorry, a parent that doesn’t notice that their 16 year old is slowly covering themselves in real tattoos is at the very least negligent. Literally nothing Blake could be going through negates that.
And there’s also the possibility that Blake is making the statement to seem openly rebellious. After all, if mom was not visible in Blake’s video, we’re being lead to assume she was really there. Teenagers love to seem outlandish and rebellious.
I didn’t even have that much of an issue with the first one but the fact you went through the whole video and commentated on your current thoughts on it is how I wish other UA-camrs addressed stuff. This is so mature and great. This is the reality we want and need from UA-cam.
I think that why Lauren didn’t explain the tattoo etiquette behind why Blake having hand tattoos was “wrong” is because she’s assuming that everyone who sees her channel is in the know about tattoos because that’s what her channel is based around, which is obviously her bad, but it’s understandable.
I don't even think it's her bad, it's widely known and even more known among the people who watch her videos. I don't think that's something that needs to be explained. I feel like everyone should know just from basic critical thinking skills that someone who does not yet have a stable career should not get hand or neck tattoos.
Tbf,if you can't understand why having hand tattoos WHILE UNDERAGE you're pretty stupid 😂 If you can't see why having hand tattoos underage WHILE DOING IT THEMSELVES then you're just a lost cause.
@@missvoorhees7964 Or there just wasn't someone there to tell them? If you know nothing about tattoos and have nothing to do with them, then it's not suprising that you wouldn't know something like that. Not knowing something does not make one stupid.
The way she criticizes Blake for not remembering something because she thinks they are doing drugs is just..... I mean I have mental health issues and I'm young and I have memory lapses because of it, no substances involved. My partner will tell me a deep life thing about her past and the next time she brings it up, I need a reminder about it because my memory is just fucked up now because of what I've been through. There are reasons a young person could have issues that people think only happens with aging. Similar to how a grandparent would tell me I'm "too young to be tired." That just isn't true, anyone can have issues and reasons for these things. You don't have to be 40 or 50+ to be tired all the time or have memory/physical health problems, for example. You know? A teenager isn't too young to have reasons they forget doing something that probably has an adrenaline rush attached to it. I'm 23 and I don't remember lots of high emotion moments clearly. I'm not saying that's exactly why Blake doesn't remember, but substance abuse should not be the thing to jump to when trauma, family life, mental health, general life events, emotional state, etc should be considered and are actually really common. Ok thanks for reading, I just had an opinion I wanted to get out♡
⟟ have an off and on memory, where some times I’ll not remember what ⟟ did that morning but then the next day ⟟ can remember everything ⟟ did for the past month
honestly, i feel bad for blake. they clearly don’t have the best home life. they’ve posted videos of themselves doing drugs and their mom yelling at them. blake has discussed their mom having a mental illness and often being in foster homes or having to move in with a friend as a last minute resort because of their mother. looking at their social media for ten minutes would show that something is wrong in terms of their personal life. but i think it should be handled privately. i’ve been following blake for a long time, a friend of mine used to be good friends with them before they developed a large following, and i worry about them a lot.
Honestly same, all my friends who act like Blake does (dressing the same, same way of speaking, self tattooing) are 15 year old alcoholics or have been to rehab multiple times. It's very concerning
yes! All of this! Lauren didn't handle the situation with much tact, but I don't think it's wrong for people within the tattoo community to point out that we should probably be a little concerned for this person beyond just the wildly unsanitary tattooing conditions. Wishing Blake and Lauren and Dangelo all the best.
I feel like the situation could've been avoided if Lauren stuck to critiquing Blake's unsafe tattooing practices and refrained from publicly speculating on their personal life.
Sir . . . It’s okay. I’m commenting cause this situation is all crazy wild to me and rather it just gets all cleared up. First of all the biggest issue - I know I fucked up majorly with my substance abuse comment - the only experience of me knowing people who have tattoos but don’t know how they got them is cause they were drunk off their head in Ibiza or on something harder. Me saying that was me not thinking of a bigger picture and I now know that it’s wrong especially when that person is a minor. Secondly - Blake does have videos with their mum doing piercings so their mum is aware and complicit with some of these actions. Thirdly - you said not to assume about people’s parents yet you assumed on mine. I was allowed to do what I wanted with my body as soon as I was old enough to make that decision to. My mum was always against body modifications but ended up just accepting them. This isn’t for Pity or sympathy I promise you that - she passed away in 2014 and never has seen me “heavily tattooed” as I only started to take the art of tattooing more seriously from 2015 again like you said there’s always a bigger picture. Fourthly - I got big hand tattoos in 2019 at age 29 after thinking about doing it for YEARS as to me and many others they are a huge commitment. Reason I didn’t go into more details about etiquette of hand tattoos is cause my regular viewers have heard me bang on about it so much I didn’t want to bore them - thats on me I take full responsibility for that and not explaining it well to those who don’t know. Fifthly - my channel was built on me trying to help make sure people didn’t make the same mistakes as I did when I was younger. My content is mostly about my tattoo experiences and how about getting a good tattoo. Does that seem like projection? Yeah definitely and understand where you and many others are coming from but I truly am trying to help people and sometimes my delivery doesn’t make it seem that way (I’m Truly British and dry sarcasm is my language it’s a blessing and a curse being someone on the internet) I’ve probably missed some things out but yeah! I’ll keep in mind of all the feedback and will definitely not talk about a minor again. Sincerely the thirty year old colouring book 😜
thank you both for handling this like adults! its so nice to see THIS as the outcome instead of endless drama videos or even worse. bless up 🙏 i love BOTH of your channels! ❤️
It’s called a warped tour body suit when you have only tattoos on areas you can see. I think it’s becoming an old practice with so many rappers having face tattoos and nothing else. There was a time that if you asked for hands, neck or face but had no other tattoos, 9/10 artists wouldn’t do it.
I know this was a while ago but I don’t see the problem with only having tattoos on places you can see (if you’re over whatever legal ages you have and all of that). Aren’t tattoos personal? I don’t have any myself (I hope to someday, I have a slight fear of needles and the like), so it might not be my place to comment on it. I just think like, it’s your body, do what you wanna do.
@@thejapster It's because many employers will specifically say no visible tattoos or piercings, even though they shouldn't imo, and so by having visible tattoos at a young age, you're potentially limiting your opportunities. If there was no stigma or discrimination towards tattooed people then there wouldn't be an issue.
I think when Lauren says "I hope things get better for them" she means that tattoos are normalised. There are lots of people with traditional (tribal) tattoos who find it hard to get jobs because of the prejudice against ppl with tattoos. Even if it's not traditional, it's still your own body. She says, hopefully 10 years down the line, that attitude towards ppl change and Blake does not get to regret having visible tattoos.
I'm glad you learned about the "collar/cuff" etiquette. I got a tattoo that barely came below my wrist when I was 24 and I never expected my life would take me into the military and I had to spend a lot of money changing something that I didn't regret at all. The world is vastly more accepting of tattoos than it used to be, but it's best to wait until you really know where your life is going before getting a career roadblock put on your body. Personally I think, military aside, nobody should really care whether you have visible tattoos or not, but kids shouldn't be making life altering decisions at least until they've gone out into the workplace.
@@CielPhantomhive1 They haven't ever been outright prohibited during my military career. I haven't been in particularly long, but understand that right after 9/11, the military waived all their tattoo regulations to facilitate a larger defense/deployment force. You'll run into a lot of guys/ladies who enlisted around 2001 or the surge in 2004 that have a lot of "out of regulation" tattoos. I enlisted long after these "mass enlistment" regulation changes, and the more stringent regulations from before had been mostly put back in place. When I joined, the Army allowed tattoos, so long as they weren't on your hands past the wristbone, face, or neck such that it would show while wearing a standard t-shirt. Also, tattoos cannot be racist, gang related, explicit, or derogatory. The Marines have much more strict limitations because they more often have their sleeves rolled up and find themselves at U.S. embassies where they're expected to look professional. The rules for Marines during my whole career have been no tattoos on your hands, face, or neck. No tattoos within two inches of your wrist, elbow, knees, or ankles, and no single tattoo, or cluster of smaller tattoos that cannot be completely covered by your hand with fingers together. The other branches pretty much just follow the same regulations as the Army. You can get waivers if you're trying to enlist and your tattoos don't meet the regulations but the chance of getting your waiver approved is practically zero for the Marines and the Army will get more lenient the more they need people. If we're not at war, they'll probably want you to get the tattoos removed.
My bad, my experience is only with the U.S. military. I've worked with the Koreans, but I've never seen a Korean soldier with tattoos.... Maybe they wait until after their mandatory service before getting tattoos....
Andrew Alvarez Not sure who you were replying to, to bring Korea up, but from what I’ve read they’re not allowed to have tattoos in the military either. It’s a problem because in Korea, the military is a mandatory service for men, and many of them can have tattoos way before joining- To combat this, they usually just get them removed and it’s common sense to get tattoos *after* serving. Though, apparently people will tattoo themselves right before entering the military to avoid serving their time, and it’s become illegal. “- young men who use the body art to try to evade the country's mandatory military service, crucial to its defense against communist North Korea. About 170 men have been arrested for ‘willfully tampering with their bodies to avoid military duty’ - a crime punishable by up to three years in prison. National media showed the disgraced young men, handcuffed, heads bowed and shirts removed to reveal large tattoos of dragons, scaled fish, birds and roses” I don’t get why they don’t allow people to join with tattoos anyways (Of course, at least until they’re healed to avoid problems), they’re at a constant front with North Korea and not accepting those with tattoos doesn’t make all that sense to me. Of course, take this with a little salt since I don’t know all of this front hand or if anything changed.
D'Angelo aimed to make a criticism video every single day, and he's clearly very passionate and upfront with his criticism, so he was bound to go too far eventually. Even though I don't always agree with D'Angelo's videos, he's one of, if not my favorite channels on UA-cam simply because of his candor. This video just further proves that fact. Keep doing what you're doing, you're an awesome creator and I look forward to all of your videos, banger or not.
I actually understand her bringing Blake's parents into it. After all, they are a minor on the internet doing unsafe things and it's really up to their parents what they do. So if Blake's parents aren't aware of what's happening or don't care then they could wind up getting seriously hurt. This is a minor who (most likely) is either lying to their parents about how safe this is, or are in a situation where they don't have a caring adult to stop them from accidentally hurting themself. Of course she shouldn't have called their mom stupid or made so many assumptions, but whenever a minor does something (especially if it's dangerous) their parents/guardians are a part of the equation.
This is why I can appreciate dangelo both as a person and influencer. He doesn’t hide or avoid or cover up mistakes. He tries to understand and confronts his mistakes head on without making excuses.

But, I do think she could have been less...astounded. The theatrics were too much especially for someone she doesn’t personally know.
Facts! Everyone on the internet have to many opinions that can remain internal
Yeah, saying that what Blake was doing was dangerous was fine, but implying that Blake did drugs without knowing them? No thanks.
Perfectly said.

Yea, if Lauren responded the same way he did in this video that would be soo much better
Really, I didn't think so.

Which is, well understandable
Yes, but it’s the way she went abt it
@@goldenbunnies4143 What way?
@@goldenbunnies4143 there is no way to go about it well. Kids who are determined enough to tattoo them selfs (i was one, lol) aren’t gonna be stopped. Laurens video is bringing up more than just this point, but if she was like “hey i did this and it sucks” kids would be like “that’s your problem i want a hand tattoo” bc that’s how teens are and they don’t think long term. I’m not saying everything Lauren did was right, but it seems all of it came from a place of concern for Blake rather than an attack on them.
I felt the same
Except ofc the accusations but everything else I pretty much agreed with...
Good job.
My mom took me to get my first tattoo on my 18th birthday ~ I only have 2 (i’m still 19) although i want more ~ it meant a lot to me

same here. we love to see it
teethbandit that’s where I was- although I agreed with D’Angelo on most of his points, I also agreed with TreacleTatts with some of her points.
I wish she would’ve explained the health hazards a stick n poke tattoo can expose you to instead of bashing her tho.
agreed! I think pointing out the dangers of self-tattooing(?) is very useful but I don't understand why a grown adult should go after a child so harsly. Also if you're REALLY concerned about this specific kid, why not talk to them directly?
I thought she mentioned sepsis. But that was probably in a comment.
Fruitorsch
Wait? Your not suppose to stab yourself with sharp metal objects that are contaminated? Surely you must jest?

You have no idea if they DO have a problem. Nobody has any idea what Blake’s home life is like and how their parents are acting.
@@boilingsoda which is the reason for the concern. They are a minor who could be in danger or at the very least, extremely neglected. Their parents should be called out.

Don't go around accusing people of neglect not knowing them, it is really bad and can hurt the family and the parents. literally less than 15 seconds in and i’m already thinking this is going to be a jenna marbles level of genuine apology. good job.
youtubers, take notice. this is a good example of how to handle criticism or just being flat-out wrong in a situation instead of deflecting any advice, constructive or otherwise, that your viewers and those personally involved try to give you. this is how you don’t come off as arrogant and just plain gross: admit you did something bad. own up to why that thing was a bad thing and apologize.
d’angelo, it’s nice seeing more creators that can just... own up to something they’ve done or at the very least just *realize* that it wasn’t the best choice. it sounds sarcastic to me just typing it out, but genuinely: good on you for having a brain AND being a pretty alright human being.
Why is UA-cam allowing a minor to upload videos about tattooing and piercing in the first place? Everyone should be concerned about that
I guess it’s absolutely insane to think that a minor child should have freedom to do WHATEVER they want, as illegal as it is.
There, I fixed it
God that was good

The sigh at the beginning is def essential
You left out "I was in a dark place" and "I was desperate"
@@michaelsperson4856 my bad my bad, I fixed it. I need this guide to be EXACT
My point is: if she was so concerned for Blake, why didn't she just reach out to them privately? Why did she but them on blast, on a big platform?
she used Blake as an example to a younger audience (who may or may not follow them). The majority of Blake's followers are young and impressionable, so I think the lady was just trying to alert them before it's too late
@@isa-kd2hy You can do that without putting a minor on blast. She could use the images as illustrations and blurred their face.
@@nyssiaeiko3476 I do agree with that, but I do think it’s a laps in judgement rather than malicious. Blake does have a larger plattform too to it’s not like she is anonimys either. It’s a hard one.
@@MissCaraMint It's very different. A thirty year-old should know better. Blake has a big platform and are a teen, teens do the dumbest stuff.
My name is also isa and I find that exciting
I think Lauren should have made a separate video, addressed to all young people (without calling out anyone in particular), on the topic of self tattooing for teens and her opinion that is informed by her experiences with it, instead of in the video about Blake, because it unfairly attaches them to it. The video about them should have just covered the unsanitary practices and ended there. No unacceptable speculation on substance abuse, no inappropriate speculation on their home life, and the opinions about tattoos on teens in a seperate video that is in no way attached to Blake.
EXACTLY‼️
yeah but calling out someone in particular get you so much more views which equals more money. Just look at what this channel is doing. All he does is call people out instead of making vague videos telling people what they should and shouldn't do.
@@Goldenretriever-k8m of course, because that is the purpose of his channel and he makes that extremely clear from the get go. The person he is apologizing to doesn't have a channel about that kind of thing, didn't make the video concise, and instead attached a bad label to a child of 16 yrs old. So what's your point?
@@GravityButterfly My point is that's how youtube works, you make tons of money doing this kind of thing.
True
agreed
Still not Lauren's place.
if you watch their channel you know how things are for them. it’s not her place to call them out for this.
This is the reality we want and need from UA-cam.
the first apology video that didn't start with a *sigh*
I think that why Lauren didn’t explain the tattoo etiquette behind why Blake having hand tattoos was “wrong” is because she’s assuming that everyone who sees her channel is in the know about tattoos because that’s what her channel is based around, which is obviously her bad, but it’s understandable.
I don't even think it's her bad, it's widely known and even more known among the people who watch her videos. I don't think that's something that needs to be explained. I feel like everyone should know just from basic critical thinking skills that someone who does not yet have a stable career should not get hand or neck tattoos.
Then it's as simple as just saying "For more information, check out these past videos I've done." Most content creators take that route.
@@RealGermanish I had no idea tattoos were still actively discriminated against, so... not really, I guess.
Tbf,if you can't understand why having hand tattoos WHILE UNDERAGE you're pretty stupid 😂
If you can't see why having hand tattoos underage WHILE DOING IT THEMSELVES then you're just a lost cause.
Thank you for this important context. Making reaction videos to things one isn't informed about is a really bad idea.
I feel like the situation could've been avoided if Lauren stuck to critiquing Blake's unsafe tattooing practices and refrained from publicly speculating on their personal life.
nobody wait she posted videos of herself doing drugs?
Sir . . .
Yeah definitely and understand where you and many others are coming from but I truly am trying to help people and sometimes my delivery doesn’t make it seem that way (I’m Truly British and dry sarcasm is my language it’s a blessing and a curse being someone on the internet)
I’ve probably missed some things out but yeah! I’ll keep in mind of all the feedback and will definitely not talk about a minor again.
Sincerely the thirty year old colouring book 😜
thank you for watching and sharing your response, lauren.
thank you both for handling this like adults! its so nice to see THIS as the outcome instead of endless drama videos or even worse. bless up 🙏 i love BOTH of your channels! ❤️
This is the most mature and productive UA-cam discourse I think I’ve ever seen! Go team both of y’all!
As a British person I relate. Also I (and probably a ton of other ppl) forgive you, just as long as you learn from your mistakes
My two loves collide in the best and respectful way 🖤🖤
It’s called a warped tour body suit when you have only tattoos on areas you can see.
Out of curiosity, were tattoos prohibited during your time in the forces? US Marines or another country?
US Military in general*
National media showed the disgraced young men, handcuffed, heads bowed and shirts removed to reveal large tattoos of dragons, scaled fish, birds and roses”
I don’t get why they don’t allow people to join with tattoos anyways (Of course, at least until they’re healed to avoid problems), they’re at a constant front with North Korea and not accepting those with tattoos doesn’t make all that sense to me.
That’s why we always Stan you even when we don’t agree with you.
