So my wonderful wife got me the Pole Position tabletop for Christmas, and I love it! I'm so glad that MyArcade is listening, and I'm glad they made positive changes (it seems) to the handheld. Since I have the tabletop I'm not sure if I'll get the handheld or not, but it does make me more inclined to see what they'll do with their future products. Hopefully they will continue to iterate and improve.
MyArcade got a lot of goodwill from me for the improvements they made to the Gamestation Pro. The key to getting me to buy any single game unit like this though is definitely the controls. Something like Crazy Climber could be done in this size well.
Man I am always down for any My Arcade news as they are definitely paying respect to the original source material with easily accessible price point products for kids and kids at heart to be able to afford and have fun with! Thanks Jon and GxGang 👊🏻😎🕹️🏎️
I picked up bubble bobble, ms Pac-Man, Tetris, megaman, and street fighter for Christmas for my kids. These are awesome toss in the van for the road games. The only thing I’d really like is the battery pack and score saves.
I'm really digging that paddle control for steering. Perfect placement for a portable. This is actually quite innovative for driving games. I would love to see this done with Outrun as well
@@GenXGrownUp I smell a pre-cursor 😂. On that note, hell, please put Turbo Outrun on there as well. I like what My Arcade is doing. For some stuff though, they just have to work on their ergonomics, especially if they are doing Genesis games (which I basically mentioned in an earlier post). Jon, have you ever played certain Genesis games with a Power Arcade Stick? I just restored a couple of them earlier this year. I've been playing Genesis since the 90s but after getting the official sticks, it breathes new life into the console especially when playing games like Shadow Dancer (it's an original game on the Genesis that is not a port of the arcade version), Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and more. The joystick may be membrane based but the buttons are very responsive and it's a really fun experience. My arcade does not have to replicate the exact joystick but we have to have those 3 buttons lined up horizontally. That Revenge of Shinobi setup looks to cramped
@@davidrin3566 I never spent much time with a Genesis. I was onto Atari computing by the time it hit the market, though I did play it occasinally at a friend's apartment. I never played on anything but a d-pad controller (or the one with rapid fire above A/B/C), but it doesn't surprise me that there were aftermarket joysticks for it. Good to know!
@GenXGrownUp actually, the stick I am referring is an official stick made by Sega during the consoles life cycle. They made 3 button and then 6 button variants when games like Street Fighter II: Special Championship Edition and Mortal Kombat were released. Because Sega took it upon themselves to make them, they were very high quality sticks
Now that OutRun has been announced, I hope they also put OutRun in a similar Pocket Player. I don't need the mini arcade machine form factor, I'd prefer just to hold something "flat".
Well, to be fair, they need to release all the Out Runs like 1 up did. Seeing 1up is gone, my arcade is kind of now the go-to for official arcade roms. So yes, we finally need Out Run as a starter, Turbo Out Run, Out Runners, and Out Run 2. Original Out Run is dope, though, but it's already on Switch. If you get me, it's also on 3Ds in 3D.
I want to like it but that vertical button layout is really bothering me. We know it's going to be a Genesis Rom so they should probably opt for the Genesis Power Arcade Stick Button Layout instead since anyone on the Genesis who played with an Arcade Stick most likely used this layout or something similar. And no, size is not an excuse. Those controls need to be more accessible
My arcade if you read the comments please make more stuff like I will buy these products I need to give you guys credit your products are getting better better keep up the great work please send John more review products he does a great reviews
Yeah, I'm totally down--to the point where I'm now looking forward to this. I don't think I've ever had a pocket player before. It's looking like the spinner might have less of an obvious up/down orientation on this one. 👍
Or the Mega Player… I have several of the Micro Players but…c’mon I really don’t want to get too excited about new stuff for 2025. What’s the point a whole year of nothing. It almost getting like the automotive industry who show us beautiful concept cars, then sell us another glorified hatchback. Well not just like that but it’s pretty close. I’ll believe it when I see it.
I didn't buy the pole position yet. How much do you think this model will be? I hope you can interview the my arcade people and maybe persuade them to do a countercade models of games next. I think it would be very profitable for them.
I didn´t buy Gamestation Pro (even in good price on Black Friday), because i am waiting for release of GSP Remix with new controllers, hope it will be out soon.....waiting for it almost year :D
I get the feeling that the Remix we saw last year may have been shelved in favor of some newer, more impressive tech. Don't make any buying decisions until AFTER CES! 😉
I can't speak to this handheld yet, but the Racing Player had an analog wheel (expecting this to be, too), and Pole Position didn't have digital inputs for gas/brake. The longer you kept it depressed, the more you accelerated.
If they were smart, they'd add either more racing games or more tracks to the existing games. Just two games seems like a missed opportunity and a bit bare bones in 2024/5.
My Arcade isn't a software house in the business of writing new versions of games with new tracks, so it doesn't surpise me that they don't hack old ROMs or write sequels. Is there a comparable device that you think does it better?
I just got one question are these pocket or small arcade systems Selling because I have a lot of friends that love retro games and almost all of them said they would not buy these units with there last dollar.
Hey Jon! Why Would I Need The 2025 Products If I Own An Atari 7800+? I've Been Loving This Thing! It's The First Atari Console I've Own With A 7800 Shape!
i always play my arcade for 1 time then i throw it to collect dust , its not worth collecting them in my opinion , not comfort to use them and have bad quality

Oh, yeah. I'd really like to see a handheld arcade Crazy Climber. Man, Nichubichu? Who holds those rights?!

Yes me too, this Pole Position Pocket is cool, but OutRun would be super amazing

Man, CES is fun times. Looking forward to the content gold rush! 🤑
To make this fancy a teaser I get the impression this could be a test run for the Gamesation Go to get user feedback over the spinner

That wheel seems like it might be tough to actually use while holding in hand. I certainly intend to get one though.

Looks great! Thanks for the update Jon :-)
You have to admire their commitment to acting on feedback. 😊

I would buy this one. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it feels like this device is made to play Pole Position, and that's good enough for me.
What's up with my arcade Gamestation Go ?????
What's up, indeed. Just a little more patience. I promise.

With similar internals to the Racing Player and that big wheel, I've got to guess it'll be around the $49 mark.
I give them credit to hold off & improve there systems hopefully with signing deals with Sega that they will keep listening and improving 😊
Happy New Year Jon!!
Happy New Year to you too!
Thanks Jon.

Seems like it'd be difficult to use the wheel and left shoulder button at the same time
It appears both shifters on on the right side, so no need.
How well do these work with digital buttons? Did the arcade have digital or analog inputs?
I can't speak to this handheld yet, but the Racing Player had an analog wheel (expecting this to be, too), and Pole Position didn't have digital inputs for gas/brake. The longer you kept it depressed, the more you accelerated.
Love the cx78. I have the wireless and I just want to hold it. I’m thankful Atari is making these again
Love that Casey's Gold hat!
Me too!

Going to be spending a lot of money on my arcade stuff in 2025 lol
Great 😊
I’m curious of how it would feel to play, but I’m interested. That Shinobi joystick player they revealed today looks pretty good too!
It does. I'm working up an analysis of that one as we type! 😉
@@GenXGrownUp 🥷
Doubt they are but analogue buttons or triggers would make this perfect.
Analog buttons are unnecessary since the arcade Pole Position pedals were digital inputs.
Yeah I figured but it's going to be hacked and half a dozen other driving games could be put on it.
I just got one question are these pocket or small arcade systems Selling because I have a lot of friends that love retro games and almost all of them said they would not buy these units with there last dollar.
They're clearly selling, and growing.

Those are two words.
I hope for Mortal Kombat

A Left handed steering wheel? Heck no, I will not buy.
It's only as left-handed as the standard NES controller. 😉
