Another great video, Chris. One question I have... Is there a limit of how many gallery you should show in (other than being able to produce enough work to keep them happy)? And should you avoid showing in galleries within X miles of each other? Thanks for your input!

@@MichaelMills-m8f thanks for the comment, Michael! Great question, and perhaps this is something that I should touch on in a future episode. So, when showing with a gallery, it’s a good idea to have some discussion regarding this with your gallery. Some galleries may want an exclusive relationship, which means all of your artwork is consigned to them, and they will then consign the artwork out to other galleries on your behalf. The main gallery, with exclusivity, will typically get approximately 10% of sales from the other galleries, while you, the artist, will always get 50%. This is a way that the main gallery can control the direction of your career and grow your market, while also taking a cut. However, most artists will just handle things on their own, but it’s still a good idea to have an understanding with the other galleries. Some galleries want to be the only gallery within a “X” mile radius of each other. Some galleries will want to be the only one in the state. While some will want to be the only gallery within the region. Southeast, Northwest, for example. But showing at multiple galleries will certainly benefit you, the artist, because your market will grow and diversify. I hope this helps!
