Hi, thanks for this. Even after a couple of years of using Houdini and thinking I've got a handle on it I learn about another couple of nodes that I've never seen before - the tangent fields one and the project non-divergent node. I get the feeling I will never know even half the nodes :)
Awesome tutorial! Maybe a bit of explanation on why some option over the others, or why you pick this (just so we learn along and not only copy your clicks) But otherwise I liked it, very straight forward and clear!
Hello , Can you help me with the render settings you did after File cacheing and before taking it to NUKE as i am using karma and i am not able to view the Blue color on the particles...!!⁉
there's problem when i tryna add bind export it it doesnt work. it say's "Cannot primitive attribute "name", binding volume as density. whats now im stuck please help me
I really like your videos, I have learned a lot Bro, a question Is there any chance you can make a tutorial on how to bring a fluid simulation along with textures to Unreal Engine? I've searched for days and days on the internet and I haven't found something that would work for me, it would be great if you could make one.
Is it possible to achieve a similar render output without using Redshift? But by using Karma instead? I couldn't figure out how you got the particles to look so small.
Sorry, its been a while haha. Can you give me a time stamp? If you have a node selected, search for a new node and press shift+enter to create it, it will automatically connect to the node you have selected.
brooo why not showin how u rendered it? im loosing my mind, wth cant i simply click render and get a normal video like in blender??? i dont want exr nor anything else just a normal mp4 -.-
I gave away all the project files with the render setup in the description for free. Watching me trying to exactly replicate the light setup and shaders in the video seems like a waste of time to me.
Hey Mats, thank you for the Tutorial buddy :) I have a question, after the popnet, when you run your simulation, seems that your particles follow a path, mine particle behavior doesn't follow any path just expands outside a bit in every direction. How did you manage to give direction to your Particles?
i found the Solution: for some reason in Simulation tab in the popnet node, the Timestep and the offset Time were preselected animated (but why??) :O I delete the channels and it worked!
(edit, I found the solution) If anyone else got this problem, you just have to verify to check the tangent name option instead of the normal name into the polyframe node
Heya mate, looking for some help! followed your tutorial and for some reason my points are a bit bigger than yours no a 100% as to why that is, watched the video 5 times and everything is the same. Cheers
Maybe it's too late but before entering the render settings, you should change the points size in geometry parameters in SOPs to somewhat around 0.01. By default it's one.
Hello, I followed your tutorial entirely and I'm having an issue with the render. Redshift doesn't want to render anything from frame 36. While checking my file cache on the color pass, I noticed that my sphere in the viewport has different shades of color. Starting from frame 36, the color becomes more intense in just one frame, and indeed, Redshift refuses to render from this frame onwards. Does anyone have an idea? I can send my .hip file if you want to take a look. I really want to understand where the error is in my project.
Question: How can i "instance/ create" physical (geometry) spheres on all points so i can export as alembic into blender? When i try, blender only reads the points (data) and i can't really do anything with it. Thanks! Praise: amazing work here! biggest brains in town clearly!
Hey, thanks for watching :) I don't have personal experience with the Houdini -> Blender workflow, but particles are always tricky when trying to move between different softwares. Entagma has a tutorial about something similar though: ua-cam.com/video/SYz3Pz0m2XM/v-deo.html Might be useful?
(edit, I found the solution) If anyone else got this problem, you just have to check the tangent name option instead of the normal name, into the polyframe node

Is it normal that my PC took 40 minutes to cache to disk at 6:52? I'm running a i7 12700 and a rtx3060 (notebook) with 32gb ddr5 and NVME ssd. I'm new to Houdini so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question
I named the file without the $F4, which gave me only one frame with all the information from every frame. After fixing that, the cache time went to 3 minutes hahah

You have to adjust the pscale attribute to adjust the size of the particles

With the twist node selected, press Enter once in the scene viewer. It should work after that!
