i hope!!!! i believe in Houdini. Substance Designer degrades very much and does not develop after Adobe was bought out.
unlike Substance, or Maya or Max, SideFX built their software from the start with modularity in mind.
It's more like an OS than a single software really...
So, adding new network types like Solaris or Copernicus feels natural.
It might not be as good as SD, but avoiding the hassle of round trips, purchasing and learning other software, and dealing with compatibility issues makes it worth.
@@pdjinne65that's a really good point. I'm sure this also effects how their dev teams can be structured. I'd imagine they can have much smaller more autonomous teams because they don't have the same interdependency concerns.
Good luck with making any compatible resource for Substance Painter like generator, dynamic brush or procedural pattern in Houdini lol

everything from the past year that i've been trying to learn or seen multi hundred dollar tutorials for was just made easy with this!

There is so much included in this update that is game changing for a variety of workflows. Truly incredible that this is being shown and it hasn't even been a year since H20.

I'm not a Houdini user, but this really puts the updates from Maxon and Adesk into perspective.

@@rezo856 Not surprised, but also curious at what the future brings. Said Houdini already was the "master tool" , and that substance designer focused on material creation for a long while and has all the efficiency increasing tools that houdini might not yet have, but hes not surprised if houdini manages to fight it's way to the top in that field too.
Sometimes i have nightmares that Houdini grows so good that will become a National Treasure and will not be available for public anymore. And then I wake up , all sweaty, and fortunately H. is still here...

Call the COPs you guys are murdering the competition. So excited for copernicus. Textures are fast and fun to use. Opens up lots of possibilities.

It has been for many years, what is interesting now is that they are developing fascinating CFX tools, I have no doubt that AD is getting nervous about Maya eventually being replaced by Houdini for CFX work!
Houdini is setting out to replace Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Bifrost, Redshift, Pencil+, Katana, Golaem, ComfyUI... simply insane!
I think someone should check on Houdini Headquarter if humans or Aliens are working on the Software.😅😂. They release things that no one expects from Houdini ❤.
I love that they are expanding more out towards being an allrounder tool. Like Blender on steroids.

"Vulkan viewport enabled by default, supports some Karma Material Builder shaders" this is the most exciting part for me.
I was put off for a couple of years to pick up Houdini because i thought it's too complicated. Man oh man I'm glad i've done it and it's not that complicated and i didn't realise how powerful it is. Granted it has a bit of a learning curve but that's nothing compared to what it can do. Thank you Side FX for providing not only pros but hobbyists and indie artists such an amazing software to work with.
While i was a little disapointed with H20, this one is massive and confirm my faith in the team and push my client to believe in the product and buy more license. Dawm, It's massive! most of the things i have been waiting are present and more. Just reading the keynote press release make feel warm and explosively exitited, cutting edge constant innovation, and in not one platform but also for window, linux, mac metal and os... What a masterclass of dev ...
Just a little retreat, hey more than half of game studio still use Unity even if heavily customized... Please don't give up this part!

Anticipate every sneak peak you guys put out and this one has to be one of the greatest yet. Always thought COPs had the potential to be a real comp/2d alternative - can´t wait to see how far it goes and am glad every day to have switched to Houdini around 16.5!

I recently started learning Houdini, it's hard and unknowable and difficult, but just a little bit of fun is very precious.
But it's hard and I feel like I'm losing my mind all the time, so I'm watching videos like this to inspire myself, I'm going to do my best!
SideFX proves again and again that they are the true pioneers of the game. Simply put, no other 3d software on the planet can even come close to the amount of control, power, and precision it gives it's users. You have control over every point of data in Houdini.
I'm not even anywhere close to being anything of a vfx artist, but the soft body simulation capability of houdini is astounding. Water, sand, metal, you name it there's a way to make houdini do it with relative ease it appears. And it's destructive simulation that really interests me because of the sheer number of applications for it in the world.

Houdini just levelled up all their usual toolsets, knocked Substance Designer off the stack, and became one of the top ML tools

I'm incredibly curious about this "MPM solver", but more than anything the new COPs stuff is something I've been waiting for and will for sure use in my everyday work to produce even better things! Thanks yet again SideFX ❤
MPM is sort of like FLIP but for solids instead of fluids. It lets you simulate things like clay and bendable metal sheets that are really hard to do with any existing Houdini solver.
Love to see what can be done with houdini and this update looks amazing 👍

I love Houdini, I love all the features related to games, and I hope to support more animation and VFX development in games.

I wish we got updates on the HAIR and Fur grooming department, especially BRAIDS, DREADLOCKS, and more.
I feel like I need years to catch up on what we already have, but I take it - looks absolutely amazing, best programm out there for me!
