I took my Macan 3 into the dealer and they did the plug sand charge for me. Then the dealer rep came to my home to reset up the garage door open. . I have since tested the plug in charge at electrify America and it works just fine.
I bought a 1984 Nissan 300ZX (the first year of that generation) in late 1983. It was the 2nd one the dealer sold. Had a ticking speedometer issue and a warm start problem (idled rough on starting after driving it - problem would go away shortly after driving again.) After a few tries to correct everything, the Titusville, FL Nissan dealership got it all sorted out. The car was so good after the fixes that upon moving to Tampa, FL and taking the 300ZX in for scheduled maintenance, the service manager wanted to buy my car. He said it was the strongest running Z car they'd ever seen. So, a little disappointment and pain at the beginning can lead to a great outcome at the end. It looks like a few first model year issues are getting sorted out on the Macan and should deliver an amazing experience with it soon. Enjoy that beautiful Macan!
Thank you for sharing and helping out other Macan EV owners. Seems like a sequencing issue and most likely Plug and Charge wasn’t set up on the Porsche server side fully before setting up the car. It shouldn’t require a factory reset though… seems like the Porsche software has still some catching up to do… similar issues on my 2021 Taycan… Having driven both Tesla and Porsche EVs, software, supercharger network and price to value ratio (for model 3 and Y) are clear advantages of Tesla. Porsche is better at suspension, build quality, features and customization options. For me is the much more fun to drive car.
Dave, I picked up my Macan 4 last week and had same issue. Adolf sent me the same instructions. Worked on my first attempt. Also, tell Kyle he was right: I should have ordered the manual charge port. I left the DC port cover open and the charging door jammed when closing. I was in Palm Springs without enough charge to get home and no way to charge (right door won’t open if left is open). Fortunately there is a Palm Springs Porsche dealership and it was Friday at 3 pm. They fixed it after much gnashing of teeth.
@ how it happened: I backed into charging spot, parked, opened charge door and flipped down DC cover. Grabbed the charge cable to connect, but car was too far away. Put cable back and backed car up one foot. The door tried to close when I started the vehicle to move it, and I had forgotten to flip the DC cover back up. Door jammed half closed, blocking any charging. Door wouldn’t budge. Mechanic tried to open it via connecting tablet to the car, but tablet wouldn’t connect. He ended up forcing the door back a bit so that he could close the DC cover. Pretty ugly overall. Also scuffed the front nose a bit on a bad parking lot to street transition on second day of ownership. 12 years of Cayman ownership and I never scuffed the nose (had to be a Cayman record) and now this on day 2.
@@outofspecdave1554 One more thing. Comfort entry isn’t working. Touching driver side door handles, front and rear, won’t lock or unlock the vehicle. Have to use key fob. Passenger side front and rear lock and unlock fine. Scheduled service for mid December for this. EDIT: I initially reported poor bass response from the Bose system, but I switched to Sirius XM and bass is fine. Overall, I’m still a huge fan of the vehicle because of (1) the charging curve, (2) the range, (3) the interior quality, (4) the limited number on the streets, and (5) the “drives like an ICE” feel (other reviews have noted it is a feel close to driving an ICE - totally agree).
I had the same (small) problem, but when I notified this to my dealer (in Italy) a very kind and helpful Porsche tech guy called me and guided me to the same routine you did. Problem solved. Very good service! The only downside is that I had to reload all the apps and memorize my preferred radio stations. I do not blame Porsche for this small software problems. The guy also told me that we will have soon a new OTA update that will improve the Apple CarPlay and other things. Among this I am extremely happy with my Macan 4 (ice grey as yours).
This is the main reason I couldn’t do anything but a Tesla, Rivian, or Lucid. I’m an IT professional and there is something to be said about stuff just working and a quality UI. Good luck.
No, Lucid has a reputation of releasing hardware & software before it is fully tested. I returned a 2023 Lucid GT because of hardware & software bugs. They may be fixed now.
Hi Dave. I had a similar issue with my 23 Ford Lightning, when I went into the factory Navigation charging was shaded out, my dealer did a factory reset now all. Is good. Everything in the truck is working great now.
Can you show us the Apple CarPlay setup, it’s supposed to be the first car with CarPlay 2.0. It includes radio and climate control through CarPlay (I think)
Thank you, Dave, for this informative video. We need to know about all the potential problems that you might not hear about from the manufacturer or the dealer.
I had the same issue. Followed your guide and now all works great. My dealer was no help, just saying I had to wait for the Porsche charging card to arrive.
I can’t help wondering, Dave. Have the charging stations in Naples and Marco Island improved enough to make this new Porsche “likable?” Also, what about “Dog Mode,” which I assume is not a feature on the new ride? What does Bailey have to say about that?
Heading down to FL to check on the state of CCS charging in SW Florida on Saturday Stay tuned. There is a way to keep the climate on in the Macan for an hour; just check a box when leaving the car The only thing is that the car leaves its headlights and taillights on while it keeps the climate on in the car And there is no message that says what the temp is inside the cabin and that your fur baby is ok. Why is this so hard Porsche? Give us Critter mode!
Thanks for this enlightenment Dave , I have a Mini Countryman S E and have had the same issue getting Plug and Charge set up here in the UK- same greyed out option on the settings. I’ll have to. Visit my dealer and try a factory reset with them as they too haven’t been able to get it going on other electric Mini’s they have sold. I know my car is capable of doing plug and charge as it was one of the updates that came in a recent OTA Update’s release notes
I have recently picked up my 2025 Macan GTS ( did my PEC yesterday). For the last 3 years I had a gen 3 Macan S. is this your first Porsche? They are great to drive and I’ve had excellent customer service, but their IT, electronics and Infotainment are utter garbage. They NEVER work right and are decades behind their competitors. Don’t worry, you’ll love the car whatever, but do be prepared for a level of frustration with anything technical
This is why Porsche has big issues. Their fossil prowess isn’t translating to EVs. Hence can’t charge premium prices. Meanwhile they’re asking me 75k markup on Porsche gt3 on top of price increased by 60k. So 330k for base gt3. Porsche has big problems w sales in China too. Translation. We are all paying the price w higher prices and worse quality.
Speaking as an ex-owner of a Gen 3 Macan S and the Current owner of a 2025MY Macan GTS, I can categorically say Porsche Infotainment and general IT is utter garbage.
Maybe the certificate that is used for plug & charge was corrupted so factory resetting the car repaired it and allowed plug & charge to work. Where I live there is no plug & charge none of the CPO's support it currently, but one does support Autocharge which is the less secure cousin to plug & charge.
If they're going to use factory reset as a standard troubleshooting step, they need to add the ability to save settings somewhere else, ideally on the app/cloud so you can transfer it to another Macan easily as well. To not have basic QoL features like this is just unacceptable in a luxury product.
@ as far as I understood it was an issue with connected services. We reset the truck, and had hours upon hours of phone calls with connected services support. It was never resolved. Ended up trading for a Cybertruck.
He did know about it as discussed on this channel during the podcast style video we did with Kyle, Jordan and Coleton. Good news is that the issue is now fixed! Thanks for watching
I have two Teslas and need to buy another vehicle for my daughter soon. I haven’t been able to find another vehicle that comes close to being better overall in any price range.
apparently this is an issue if you connect or activate the remote subscription BEFORE taking delivery of the car. and here's a Porsche trainers video on how to set it up : ua-cam.com/video/wBVDRPUEdsM/v-deo.html

The issue is with porsche Connect you should be calling the porsche connect support folks and open a case to get you setup propperly. The dealer has little to do with this issue. I’d rather have a older generation ICE Macan and be home instead of parked by a charger at 9.40pm doing a factory reset so I can do plug and charge ,still with 2100 miles already add another 7000 and you’ll trade it
Unfortunately Dave, its says Porsche on the car but it is VW software and as you know they don't know what the F they are doing. That's why they gave Rivian billions of dollars to fix their software some day. Which will require new chips and who knows what. Unfortunately Tesla has spoiled us on software and the rest of the auto industry selling EV's are decades behind.
So YOU couldn't get it work so it must be a problem right? 👍🏾 Like you couldn't get the EV with longest range and highest charge to not run out of juice 😂
I blame the dealership for this fiasco. They knew Dave would need Plug-n-Charge driving from Colorado to Connecticut. They should have tested it before releasing car to buyer. Don’t criticize EVs because this feature works excellent on our Tesla, EQS, & EV6.
