Was at both those Melbourne shows, and got to meet RB, Tony Carey, and hung with Jimmy Bain. Just staggering how good this classic line up was. Between the shows RB jammed at the Carlton Club Hotel, with a buddy of mine, Mario, on drums. To stand directly in front of Ritchie, just a foot away in the packed room, was a highlight I'll not forget...
Will never forget Rainbow in concert at the Adelaide Festival Theatre in 1976. Best concert I have ever seen and heard. The light show was awesome for 1976 and by hell, we’re they LOUD!
💯 saw them in Sydney Oct 76, still the best concert I’ve ever witnessed , we were so fortunate to have seen them , never forget Cozy’s drum solo on Still I’m Sad ✌️👍
@chookvalve yes it was but the acoustics were great even though seating capacity was limited (probably why they had to do two concerts). At least the stage area was high enough for the rainbow
Always thought that it was funny when Ronnie mentions that Ritchie didn’t want the name to be “Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow” forever because everyone contributes but he named his own band Dio.
It is illusory to think that recorded tapes still exist. At that time, analog video cassettes were used. The films were edited to be broadcast on television and the tapes were reused for other reports.
It’s no longer the case, but back then even when Ritchie was not playing ‘fast’ his attack was still stunning. The Stargazer slide solo on this vid just kills. He knew how to maximize the ‘stun’ effect of his technique and sound combination.
I am happy to say that I saw every Rainbow show that came thru Chicago and Milwaukee. They were magical. Don’t miss the show when Ritchie comes to town.
can u feel it in the air, we are going back to a time we knew, under a violet moon. Bring it on. xxxxx So glad I discovered some more good music to listen to.
I am now back on my guitar and I got a guitar to go crazy again. I am listening RB’s Rainbow album everyday. I don’t have an amp yet. I have been crazy on Rainbow since 1974. I love it 😻.
@@СашаФ-п1ж They were kind of a SUPER group created from Deep Purple and Elf .Too bad Ritchie was a bit of a egotistical guy. SUPER talented none the less.I saw him perform with Rainbow and Deep Purple. Dio wasn't in Rainbow when I saw them, they had Graham Bonnet. That was the first concert I ever saw still a good show but wish they had Dio..That following year I saw Dio for the first time with Black Sabbath 🤘, that was a great show.
I think its Melbourne, Australian and unfortunately. . . NO . . . there is no recording of this versiin of Stargazer. You can hear the live German or Japanese version of Stargazer from rhe '76 tour if you look around.
I'm thinking the footage was from a different concert. He mentions in the interview that there was no smashing of guitars, yet the video shows smashing of guitars.
@@brandonvoortwijs1382 do you know the 3 complete concerts from the Germany tour 1976 that were released on CD back in 2006 ? The show in Düsseldorf is my favourite^
The greatest band during the 1970´s. No other band could match Rainbow, at least not after 1975 when Blackmore formed Rainbow, two bands: Deep Purple and Rainbow, two Gigants.
Thanks for this. Hopefully one day, a proper audio and visual release from this tour will come about. I´ve got great memories of the Manchester gig. Best line up.
Remember this was 45 years ago. What a stage show and yes the band was magical, sublime, fantastic, etc etc. Would be great to see this complete footage. Munich was a good DVD but this looks like the next level.
So, after all the Ritchie was right when he said that Ronnie used to be trivial and that's the reason for break up. What the hell difference does it make if it is Blackmore's Rainbow or just Rainbow. Ritchie formed that band, and without Ritchie, Ronnie would have been relatively unknown. List of musicians becoming famous thanks to Ritchie is long, and as Coverdale admitted, without Ritchie, there would not have been many of them. Ronnie used to call B Side of Rising indulged shit, and those two songs are timeless masterpieces, that if he did not like I wonder he performed while he was doing solo. Maybe Ritchie was difficult, but definitely and some members he had to deal with.
Ritchie Blackmore is the world best hard rock master Lead Guitarist in Europe & the world.

I was there at the Music Hall In Houston Texas 1976 I was 16 yrs. old. Awesome concert!

Festival centre is a strange place for metal. SRV played there 2 times too. Rainbow signalled the end of zeppelin I reckon. Immediately outdated.

A light in the black is brutal.
Never, NEVER EVER there won't be band like 70's Rainbow...
Dank U well, Best picture and sound
Only Cozy Powell could get away with doing a drum solo to the 1812 Overture. RIP master Cozy!
damn, that stargazer solo!! Wish they released this live to a dvd format.

Cozy Powell is a great drummer. I 've a solo CD 💿 from him.
Rithchie "The Guitar Deconstructor" Blackmore 😎
I still hope no one was injured with a flying guitar at those live shows 👀
Best live show I ever saw in the 70's....

A light in the Black from the Rising album
The songs would have sounded better, if they had played them at same tempo, as they had recorded them on their studio albums.
