hope everyone’s having a great week 🫶 it’s been a minute since i’ve posted but just wanted to have a quick mental health check in with y’all - hope everyone’s happy, healthy & having an amazing week :)
The job economy is horrendous right now. I thought the layoffs were horrible, but all the new grads who aren't getting any opportunities for months to years sfter graduation... it's so sad and discouraging. No clue where this economy is going or if it has enough space for everyone. All we got is hope for the best. Month 7 of searching, here we go.
hi sarah! im currently taking a sabbatical and it's really helped my mental health and making me realize how many options there are outside of a corporate job, granted it's definitely less stable and I still stress over the ambiguity of everything, but it feels much more within my control compared to my previous job that also had 2-3 rounds of layoffs last year. If you ever decide to do YT full-time (or anything else you choose to do), I think you'd kill it! ❤
thank you sandra 🥺 it really means a lot!! i’ve thought about a sabbatical before but it’s definitely a very scary topic because of all my personal anxieties around career and life - i’m so glad it’s been helping your mental health though! (truly i’m considering it a bit more now)
Thank you for continuing to be so honest about your mental downs as well as ups, i think thats one of the things that makes you so special! I also love the pottery class and i know the feeling of starting something new/getting back to something old as an adult and man it's super scary sometimes, so i hope you get the most out of it, and i hope your mental is going to be as good as possible. Nice to keep seing you and James go to places, you two are very inspiring, and i hope Moose can get a bit of rest from his eye problems soon, he really deserves it at this point. Anyway, thank you for the amazing vlog, looking forward to the next ones!
I sometimes wonder why companies announce impending layoffs this way. It creates such a culture of fear and affects productivity. Plus, it creates more work for everyone else. 😒 I'm glad you're paying attention to your mental health, and I hope Moose feels better soon.
Awww...Sarah, I totally understand your worries about your beautiful Mousse...I can relate deeply with everything you say and do for your little furry prince and I hope everything gets better for him really soon...he is very very lucky...he has the best parents in the whole world!!! 🐈♥️
Moose is such a big beautiful baby! I love how much care, love, attention you guys have been giving Moose. Surprisingly, since I've been in NYC, I've found a lot of people simple can't afford to dish out the money for a "pet" and they simply let w/e issue they have go on until they pass and it breaks my heart. I'm sure having to deal with all the medical issues Moose has can be mentally and emotionally taxing. I just hope for the best for your family (including Moose) and that you all can live long, healthy lives.
honestly i've been binge watching your vids while you've been away but always hoping for the best!! thank you for sharing your life w us and being amazing 🫶
Thank you for being vulnerable and honest about your mental health. I love your transparency. Layoffs have been happening everywhere lately, it gives me anxiety.
she's back!! thank you for sharing your mental health journey with us sarah! i always appreciate how open and honest you are even when things are tough :( also sending moose well wishes and love ❤
I love how you explaining your reasoning for completing the ceramics class! Excited to see your creations! Thanks for being transparent in this video! Sending you best wishes
I got into pottery in adulthood and I was there girl, trust! Stay consistent and you’ll get the hang of it with practice :) also I recommend keeping your arms braced on your legs or inner thighs or even the wheel (whatever you find most comfortable) when working on your piece! You got this!
Having a pet who is not well is so emotionally draining! Your little moose has had so many issues and I don’t know how you and James have done it. I think because they can’t tell you what is wrong and it is a responsibility to have a living being that is relying on you is a real pressure. I know I was worried about my little dog 24/7 for at least the first 18 months. I have calmed down a bit about now, she’s older and she keeps good health but boy it was bad! Also you have been so patient with the leaks to your apartment. It is amazing how the landlords expect you to keep paying rent but either ignore issues or take too long to fix them. I hope they sort it fully for you soon.
Hi Sarah, I’ve missed you and happy that you are back. I totally get your mental health up and down thing as I live with that too. It’s exhausting but I just wanted to let you know that I see you and send you so much love. I think your channel is BRILLIANT!! Speak soon xxx
Your inspiring content on prioritizing mental health by taking time for yourself is insightful. Investing in creative hobbies, such as ceramics, enhance manual skills. Wishing a speedy resolution to your apartment leaks and a full recovery for your cat. 😊
this is the year of better mental health 🥰 ive really felt such a shift since starting ceramics and investing in hobbies more! & ty for the well wishes :) hope you’re also doing well 🫶
Let’s just say if you ain’t getting lay off in this round from google, you may be next on the next round of lay off or the one after etc it will always be on your mind….that why you see a lot of UA-camrs (i.e. tech lead, joma tech etc.) that uses to work for google, meta, amazon quit their job
Wish you the best 🧡 Do you feed Moose with dry food or wet food? Allegedly for cats it's better to get wet food and feeding only dry food can have a bad impact on their health. My cats get dirty eyes and gain a lot of weight from dry food, they are much healthier since they mostly get wet food.
Sarah it matters to your viewers that you take care of yourself first and foremost. Life is a daily struggle for us all and myself I appreciate you being honest. I enjoy your vlogs very much and will follow along for the real stuff. Take care and Moose is your baby, us animal lovers know that. 😍
thank you! mental health has become more and more of a priority for me over the years and i’m so thankfully that i have a community that also cares about it 🥺 so ty!!
sarah, what's stopping you from taking a break from your job at google to try something else out? is it golden shackles? if you minimized your living expenses for a few months could that give you some runway to take a sabbatical or something?
as someone who works in big tech, i can confidently say golden shackles or handcuffs or whatever you call it is super real .. I wouldn't be surprised if that's partly why sarah hasn't taken a break from her job
@@kennethiavail1719 Golden shackles or golden handcuffs is a term used for companies that shower employees with great perks (I.e. high salaries, short work weeks, free open bars in office, free monthly massages, just a few examples) to influence employees into staying with the company longer. It’s a really effective psychological ploy because employees believe they’re getting the best they can out of their roles and no other options will compare, so they won’t jump ship. People also get used to the perks and benefits and don’t want to risk losing them, even if their current work environment is toxic or unfulfilling. It’s rampant in the tech industry and the only time I’ve seen folks rebel against it was during the “great resignation”
when first I read your video caption I thought you're leaving NYC because you got laid off from google. I was shocked. Also in pottery class for first two weeks you will feel this is not something for me, I should quit but those are the days when you get to teach you hands how to make balance with clay. after that you are going to enjoy it and make so many pieces. and life is like this. you just have to go with it. people these days are thinking too much about what they are doing and whats gonna happen. my parents never had such thoughts when they were my age. people from previous generation used to just go with the flow like it is life and thats how its going to go. they never lingered much or care much as much as we do. you cant do everything in your life but just try to do what YOU can and want to do.
Is Moose's need for eye surgery a complication from his previous FIV? Poor baby, I understand being so stressed whenever your cat isn't feeling well, it takes quite a toll

You are not alone sis.
There are a ton of tech bootcamps flooding the tech market, which I think is adding to the problem. It adds a LOT of noise when reviewing resumes 😩
It's clear that a serious recession is approaching and has been clear for over 2 years now.

Oh, Do you mean more competition in the tech job market?
Layoffs have been such a struggle lately! It feels like everyone around is going through them. Thank you for being transparent & yourself! 🤍
Your hair is so adorable, I love the color!! 🤩🤩🤩

Hello Sarah!
👋
Were you hired during COVID by any chance?
Poor baby Moose... it's like he's having a surgery in every vlog. It must be exhausting for him and for you guys. ❤
I thought I had strep recently, and it was covid.
Where. Are you. Frome
