Hi Stu, great series you are doing. Tip i had when cutting windows was use a dot punch on the inside to mark the cut line, saves drilling a load of holes. Also if you remove the base plate from the jigsaw and use the blade wheel guide as a rest avoids the base plate fouling the bodywork on the corner cuts. All got different ways of doing it but this works well for me. Good luck with the rest of the build.
Some good tips thanks mate, I’ve now got me a nibbler which will hopefully go towards make that job a bit easier 👊🏻
You need to buy a sheet metal nibbler. Great price just now in lidl for battery or mains, fir making lighter and better work of those window cuttings. Should mask up the van inside and outside when cutting and sanding windows and edges.
Got one on order, will be so much easier 👍🏻
Really enjoying your builds they are neat and tidy and you dont skimp on anything Looking forward to the move and vanology will then have gone up a gear
Thanks Ray 👍🏻 next level engaged 👊🏻
What a great job you two are doing…and so fast !
Thank you Rose, wife told me it gotta be done before we go on holiday 🤣💙
Fair play 😂
Looking great Stu, can’t wait to pick her up 😊👍🥳
I'm jealous ok....Fair play mate.. gonna be a nice bus at the end...🤙👊✌👍
Not long now mate 👊🏻
Top job mate
I can’t believe how quick your getting through these vans. Well impressed can tell by the way you talk your actually enjoying it. 👌
Loving it mate, lots of challenges which keeps me engaged 👍🏻
Cracking job as always. Good luck with the new unit.👍
Thanks Shawn 👊🏻
I've got a Ryobi cordless mastic gun and wouldn't switch back to a manual one now. If you get something similar just have a little practice with it first before using it on the job. I got expensive sikaflex all over the place because I didn't read the instructions properly and didn't try it out before climbing onto of the camper to reseal the skylights.
good advice 👍 I find it works brill when I use low revs to 'keep the feel' when it matters, and when nearing the end put the chuck into reverse for a mo to stem the flow to a stop. I'm also not going back to manual except for the tiniest, tiniest of jobbies.....
Thanks guys, I’ll get me some cheap caulk to play with, won’t be no cracks in my house when I’m done 🤣😂
@@VanologyConversions 🏚🏠🏡and it probably works well for icing cakes, too! 😉🤣
Great progress Stu (and Charl) banging through it. Looking forward to seeing the new unit... 👍🏴
Cheers Paul, can’t wait to get in there 👊🏻
When I did my first Ducato conversion I used the angled bit near the back doors for the bed. You lose approximately 6” of space if you don’t. Never wanted to open the doors from the bed so having the back board against the rear doors worked a treat. 👍🏼
I did the same in my van regarding the bed plus I put a handle at the top of the door so I could open it in an emergency...
Two reason I don’t use it, the first you touched on and that is easy access to the handle in an emergency and the second is the gap falls below the 1900 mark so would then need a custom mattress
I gotta admit that when I did Viv's windows ( my first ever) I was frightened to use a jigsaw and I borrowed a nibbler from a friend, Much less swarf and I felt a lot more confident doing the cutting. In the end, both windows came out ok. Love that van though. Its really making me want to go bigger but I invested so much time and money in Viv that it will be quite a while before I get a new van. If I did, your last built would be the way I'd go- though those extra seats are very useful. Great news on on Unit- specially with winter charging in. You'll be able to be cosy and warm converting more vans. Incidentally, you dont hang about converting Stu. Colour me most impressed!!!! Looking forward to Vanology's new premises and the new vans you create. Much respect to you all as always- Kenny
Hi mate, got one on order, doing too many windows to not get it lol 👊🏻
@@VanologyConversions Deffo the Vanology way, Stu👍
Cracking job and very quick again which is a big advantage. Looking forward to seeing the new unit
Thanks mate, we go away on Wednesday so has to be finished 👍🏻 we are in the unit now and will show it in our next vlog 👊🏻
UA-cam will pay off in the end.... just keep these videos coming. views and subs will follow... awesome channel... educational and funny at the same time... just wish we could get more vids a week...🤙👊👍✌
Thanks mate appreciate it, two is enough lol they take so much time
Pop the sealant tubes in a bucket of very warm water about 20 mins before use and it’ll be easier to pump out
That’s a good tip thank you, still gonna get an electric one 🤣😂
🤣👍@@VanologyConversions
wow Stu. you dont hang around. Looking great. Just got myself a nibbler off eBay ready for my build.
Thanks mate, gotta get it finished in time for our holiday 👊🏻 I got one on order too had to be done
Another cracking build . You sure don't mess about . 👏👏👏👏
Thanks mate, nope, I got two and half weeks to build this one 👀
Looking good and good luck with the new unit hope it all works out
Thank you Philip it’s been a long week
You're a workhorse Stu (& Charl). Flying it with this build 👍
Thank you Denise, I’m really looking forward to our holiday on Wednesday, I’m over 30 days working straight 🤯
This is going to be a cracking van, look forward to seeing it done
Thanks mate 👊🏻
Liking the layout. Looking forward to the end result.
Thank you, this one will be a quick one so won’t have to wait to long 👊🏻
Brilliant ! Looking to have something done early in 24 ! Love your work keep up the good work ❤🎉
Thank you Steve, here if you need me 👍🏻
This is great viewing. Only thing Stu, I would like an idea of the price of a typical build.
I’ll try and talk about this in the next vlog 👍🏻
Hi Stu,
Hope the new customer build goes aswell as the boxer build 🙏.
Hopefully the new premises give you a chance to expand you're brilliant business.
Good luck to you and the family 👪
Paul and Joanne 👍 😊
Thanks guys, we moved in yesterday and what a difference, will hopefully make things easier going forward with the weather we get here 👊🏻
@@VanologyConversions
Nice one, go from strength to strength Stu 👍
You’ve really cracked on with this one 👏🏻
Only got two and half weeks to do this one so moving quickly, then I get a holiday 🎉
Well deserved
What a lovely van. Your doing a cracking job. 😃
Thank you 💙💙
Wouldn’t it be better that when you use the knock on trim that you do the join at the lowest part of the window so as to get no potential leaks?
It would be if you haven’t sealed your window properly, input it there as it is the most hidden area 👍🏻
Hi Stuart
You up for improving our solar, batteries and MPPT on our Ford chassis Benimar Tessoro 481
Cheers
Kazy n Garth Adventures
Hi yes we do these no problem, drop us an email info@vanologyconversions.co.uk
May I ask how you fitted the double seat in the back, that’s exactly what I want to do so the 2 kids can actually travel with us when I finish my build 🤣.
We us high tensile m12 threaded roads with spreader plates mate and get at least one side through the chassis 👊🏻🚐
Looking really good, well done both 🙂
Thank you 💙
Blimey, your so quick…amazing
Thank you am looking forward to our holiday 👍🏻
8:45 Get yourself some neo magnets and fit them using cellotape to the upper side of the jigsaw footplate
Good tip thank you, got a nibbler now which will hopefully make this job a lot easier 👊🏻
Looking like it’s going to be a great conversion again, can’t believe the speed of your workflow 👍🏻 Just a couple of questions about the seating. 1. Where are you sourcing the passenger seat from? I know you’re using a modified drivers seat, but I just can’t find one anywhere! 2. How have you fitted the rear seats? I’m assuming they are the front double passenger seats? Thanks 😁
Hi Andrew, I get the single seats from eBay but they are few and far between and well over priced. The rear bench seat is the original from the front and used the c pillar for the new seatbelt. For fixing I use high tensile m12 bolts with spreader plates 👍🏻
@@VanologyConversions Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, that’s great information, I’ll be straight on to eBay after this reply! Great that the passenger seat can be repurposed, I’ll add that to my list of things I need to do! Thanks again!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😀
Well done both, it's looking great 👌
Thanks mate 👊🏻
You've really cracked on with the Relay! Looking good. Have you got the next van lined up for after this? Good luck with the unit move.
Thanks mate, yes the next one is a ducato and gonna be an epic build 👊🏻
Great job mate keep the videos coming
Thanks mate, for now there’s no stopping them 🤣
Brilliant video amazing work pal 😊
Thank you John 💙
nice work stu looking grt
Thanks Phil 👊🏻
You don’t mess about do you turbo Stu 😂 , can’t wait to see your new set up in the unit
Turbo Stu 🤣😂 moving day tomorrow 👊🏻
Charl is doing a great job as well I suspect you two will see a lot less of each other from now on with her running the household and you burning the midnight oil at the unit 😮
She ain’t getting away with it that easy 🤣 she’ll be joining me down at the unit running all the parts of the business so I can stay and focus the tools 👍🏻
Nice to see your process with the windows. 👍 can you use "biscuits" to join the two ply boards for the door? Or are they not strong enough?
Thank you, normally I would but this ply is only 5.5mm thick so not an option 👍🏻
Great video and build!
Thanks mate 👊🏻
Hi stu. I’m thinking of getting a van in new year. I’m after a van with all ele on gas don’t need a shower but want a wc diesel heating and a fix bed Would this be something that you would be interested in doing. Thanks kev
Hi Kev, yes of course mate drop me an email info@vanologyconversions.co.uk
Far play a norther great video , Keep up the good work
Thank mate 👊🏻
I put the silicone in a bucket hot water works well
Thank you gonna try that next time 👍🏻
Hiya Stu, sorry to be a pain. Im looking for that 80 quid a sheet ply. I was gonna see if i can get a sample and see how well it takes stain.. I agree its got a lovely grain to it.. alot cheaper than the finished ply.
Can you send me a link please or add one to the description.
Thanks mate 😊
It’s a good grain to be fair and if you sand it with 180,260 and finish on 600 it comes out like glass. Their web site shop is down right now but we use Morland in Welshpool 👊🏻🚐
Yeah mate, that's what I thought. I did have a look on there and tried to order some samples of various ones they have on there but got no confirmation email so I'm guessing that's why... I could only see Poplar faced unlaminated LW ply. is that what you ordered. It didn't look like poplar grain to be fair what you used.
Thanks mate 🙏🏻
No problem 👊🏻
Great work guys, warm sikaflex is easy 😂💪
Totally doing that next time 👊🏻
Hi, you're doing great work! Can you let me know where did you get the fourth seat belt from? Is it Citroen or can be any other brand?
Hi Adam, it’s a universal one purchased from eBay 👍🏻
@@VanologyConversions can you show me please, how do you actually mounted the seat belt as i can't find mounting points ?
Im just by Chepstow mate if you need a hand moving into the new place?
Thanks for the offer mate we moved in yesterday hence my late replies to the comments 💙
Great vid again Stu. I think its a f*****g brush 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you, 🤣😂
Good video and narration keep it up
Thanks mate 👊🏻
Just great content can’t wait to see more
Thank you Chris 👍🏻
Language Timothy! 😂😂😂 Great job yet again 😎👏🏼👏🏼
🤣😂 thanks Ian, I nearly cut it out as I do normally but sometimes you gotta let slip 👍🏻
@@VanologyConversions definitely 😎👍🏻
Spot on 👌
Thanks Stu 👊🏻
Hi Stu, you're powering on! Can you tell me if you tapped the diesel heater fuel line into the breather, and which swivels they are? We got our blank canvas van yesterday, but will be doing it a bit slower!! Cheers
Hi mate, yes I go into the breather but get the feed pipe with a thread on and goes straight into a right angle so it’s low profile and I use the thread to screw it into the breather, it’s a 2 minute job. I got the swivels below www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185832278186?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jrvb30mesam&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=W0uvmp2xQvO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Can’t beat a nice tin of Sticky Sticky 😂
Absolutely cracking 👊🏻
Can you show how did you mount the seatbelt mechanism on??
This van is now gone but I may be able to explain, which part exactly?
Thanks for the reply. I'm struggling to find the suitable place for the seatbelt mechanism (drum/spool) on the C pillar or at the seat frame.
On the c pillar the spool part sits quite low down on the inside and I rivnutted it in and then the top clip there is an existing rivnut I used 👍🏻
@10:32 - Yep, that's the standard male response to many, many things during a typical day !!! 🤪
🤣😂
The seatbelt anchor is going to be on the wrong side though?
It is yes so we have to fabricate one to go in the near side 👍🏻
Where do you get the single seats from? a mate of mine is thinking of getting one
I’ve been getting them off eBay but they are well over priced 👍🏻
Thought you’d had a growth spurt! 😂
Unfortunately only shrinking at my age 🤣
@@VanologyConversions 😂
14:55 Time lapse works great, nobody wants you to spend to much time using a camera. This is a job now you have to prioritise.
Time lapses are good but so are explanations 👍🏻
Put ours on today and it just won’t sit flush around the edges? It’s stuck on its just where the van bends it appears as though the window doesn’t properly. Any ideas or tips?
Hey Stu, could you please tell me which expanding foam you use for sticking in the window frames? I'm going to install mine tomorrow using all of your tips (events flush fitting windows from the all electric build), but I reckon I've bought the wrong stuff (SOUDAL ADHESIVE FOAM HAND-HELD), from the pics, it doesn't look like it expands much ;) Thanks ever so much, Ty.
Sorry you may have already installed yours by now. We use a silicone just to create a barrier between wood and metal but other the mechanical fixing is via the inside frame screwing into the outside window 🚐
@@VanologyConversions Thanks for your reply, very much appreciated. In the end i put a bit of the explanding foam adhesive on the wood, clamped it lightly in place, waited until it had held, and then put the windows in with black silicone you use (works a treat). Only issues was that 2 of the 6 windows i installed had to go back as the hole for the surround were off centre, so couldn't get the screws in. On the whole though the windows look and work great. Thanks for the heads up, Ty.
those round fur applicatiors are called teddy bears balls
Haha. 👍 I worked for a company that supplied those. They're called Teroson Wool Dauber, but everyone just ordered TBTs, Teddy Bears Testicle. 😂
Didn’t see that coming 🤣😂
You are doing well , have you sold the first van yet?
Thank you, not yet 👍🏻
What wheelbase is this latest van please ?
It’s the same size as the boxer L3H2
I am thinking of putting a double seat in the same place on my 2007 Citroen Relay. What did you do to connect the seat belt and how did you fix the seat down? 🙂
I used the pillar to attach the seat belt to, the fixings are already there as these vans are sometimes mini buses. For the seat I use m12 high tensile bolts with spreader plates 👍🏻
@@VanologyConversions Thank you 🙂
Can you link us to the swivel seat adapters please?
Of course
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185832278186?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jrvb30mesam&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=W0uvmp2xQvO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Do you have a link to these windows? I can only see dark tinted ones is this the ones u got? Worried there goin to be to dark? Thanks
I’ve only ever seen these with a tint, not to say they don’t exist 👍🏻🚐
Can I ask where you order the single seat from ? I’m in south wales as well and need one for a 20 plate Ducato.
I’ve been getting them off eBay but they are stupid prices 👍🏻
@@VanologyConversions yeah they really are ! Not many about either. Cheers 👍🏻
Look after your lungs when grinding Stu.
Hopefully won’t be doing too much of it but yes got to remember to put my respirator on 👍🏻
Being a windscreen tech for 20yrs these videos kill me .When you are setting out the primer don't follow the hole you've cut out the bond needs to be around the edge of the glass. 8 to 10 mm in from the edge by bonding just around the hole you leave to much unsupported glass which and lead to it vibrating against the body and fatiguing the glass .also you need to fit rubber hight blocks so the glass is the right decking hight to allow enough moment in the bond the amount of these self fit windows I've had to remove and refit properly thanks to people being shown wrong from UA-cam
Thanks for the tips, at least its keeping you busy 👍🏻
Stu you make it look easy and your vlogs are very interesting to watch 👍 I wish you every success with vanology🚐👌
Thank you very much 👍🏻
