This song meant so much to him because it is about acceptance of himself and others.
To tell you a bit of his background. He got bullied when he was young just because his voice didn't change when puberty came but that was not his choice and people called him names..... because that, he didn't sing in front of people for a long time and he even tried to tone down his voice when he speaks. It takes a long time for him to accept his own voice again and gets where he is now.
He has studied Dentistry in Ukraine when he was young but because of the language barriers, he changes to studied Classical music there instead. His goal is to combine Classical and Pop music together to introduce to those who didn't know what Classical music is. His vocal range is very wide and his breath control is very good. He is a polite, funny, and humble guy. He can sing at least over 12 different languages. He can even sing 6 different voices in one song. His music has so many different genres.
If you are willing to dig into his performances, you will be amazed by his talents. A lot of music can heal people's bodies but not many can heal people,'s, souls. Zhou Shen's music is one of them that can heal your souls.

I love ZS music it calms my inner landscape. One of his wishes is to bring to the public a flavor of opera into mainstream. The little girl who tell the story, the Prince who save the princess, the King who ask someone to rescue the Princess, Zhou Shen himself, the Dragon who kidnapped the princess . At the end they were happily married and had a baby ).

Zhou Shen is singing for his fans on live on his every birthday September 29 since 2017. In the 3 hours birthday live on 20200929, he did sing THIS IS ME and his tears dropped. He turned his head away to avoid the camera. And I knew his fans including me cried too. He was a shy and sensitive kid at his teenage. I can imagine how hard he felt being bullied at school. This song is so meaningful to him. I am proud of being his fans.

Charlie’s voice didn’t crack during his puberty. His voice was higher tone or thinner when he was young. Over the time his voice become deeper as he grew older. He have lots of English songs too. Eyes on me, My heart will go on from titanic. Memory from Grezilbella the Glamour Cat in Webber’s The Cats. Time to say good Bye (in Italian). I think you might interested in his Tokyo ghoul OPT he sang that one in Japanese.
Charlie have graduated as Tenor in Bel Canto from LIVI National Musical Academy in Ukraine. After returning to China he studied little of Chinese opera and voice acting. I think at the moment Charlie is the only singer mixes Bel Canto and modern pop and rock. He sometimes also would mix Chinese opera or western classics to rock or pop.
It was he’s wish that even singing a small part hopefully the younger generations would take interest in those classic and lead them back to traditional classics. So the old treasures will not be forgotten.
When you have time and dying from boredom you can which PHL reaction. He have translated many of Charlie’s song. And he analyzed and explain the Chinese philosophy behind the songs. You can skip others if you wants to but you must see The song of heaven’s Island sung by Charlie. It’s a song even my cousin, a big guy from the army getting creeped to tears. It’s one of the best dramatic masterpiece from Charlie.

I don't know what he was saying in the first song, but the visuals of that staging were awesome. There are many covers of "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman, this song was originally sung by a female in the movie. His cover is pretty close to the original, so if you had seen the original you might not like this one as much.

If you try to listen to old traditional Beijing Opera, I think that would be the method how to get to the high note to sing like that. For the Natives, it’s quite familiar with this kind of sound. It was like the sound made by the Sopranino. 200 years ago, I think people really liked this type of Musik. But nowadays, some pop singers try to add this kind of elements to their pop-songs, and it’s really down to earth, when the pop song released, it will become popular and spread it very quickly.
