I appreciate how the Spartan's hunker down behind cover in this series. A lot of Halo media depicts Spartan's standing around and tanking things just because 'omg shield and armour'. Realistically shields wouldn't be an excuse just to stand out in the open.
@@SirGarchomp146 It really is a master class of tactics and choreography. Using cover, using air support to destroy the cover, retaking critical anti-air assets to defeat the air support, Elite pushing a desperation charge to try and retake ground so they can go and disable the anti-air. As for the fight choreography, Elite comes rushing in to kill the downed spartan, other spartan comes in and slaps his leading arm down, deflecting the barrel away from his comrade. Elite counters trying to take his head off with a backhand, Spartan ducks, brings his shotgun up and point blanks the Elite in the chest but the shield holds, the momentum of the backhand brought the Elites free hand around so he could grab the gun and rip it away, Spartan uses that momentum to throw his hand around to grab his knife and flicks it around from icepick grip into a stabbing grip and goes for the joints in the armor at the Elites waist. None of that feels unjustified or out of place, it's sensible tactics and the momentum of the fight fits perfectly, every action and reaction is to get an advantage, there's no wasted movements outside of a few expected mistakes that are made during the heat of a fight, like the second Elite taking a bit too long to stab the Spartan in the face with the energy sword, giving them a chance to counter by deflecting the weapon and putting their arm in a lock. And even that is a master class of self defense against bladed weapons, maintaining the control of the attackers arm to disarm them of their blade or attack knock them away so you have time to draw your side arm, which is what the second spartan did. Truly there are so many little details that I must have watched this short scene dozens of times, both at regular speed and slowed down to catch all of the cool little bits of animation genius you don't notice at full speed.
Also shows that elites are incredibly dangerous even to Spartans in close quarters combat. I feel like we often forget that Spartans aren't beyond the covenant, they are the equalizer.
Covenant considered fighting Spartans in close quarters as suicide. Due to Spartans being actually decent at staying out of sight and the covenants rigid combat doctrine, they never really came up with reliable tactics for avoiding it.

The way SODAZ implements tactical importance into his videos is pretty cool. Setting the stage for realistic scenarios in a fictional universe. For instance, getting the anti-air guns online to cut off the already overwhelming covenant air dominance was smart. They need to clear the area and prevent reinforcements to establish a base of operations or securing a strategic point of interest. I especially enjoyed the way he portrayed Spartans again. That they are still vulnerable even though they are walking tanks with naval guns for arms. The ODST again are awesome for coming in to support the spartans on the flanks rather then attacking the covenant from behind the Spartans. Going behind the Spartans for cover is fine, but when you can flank is always the best option in suppressing and eliminating a larger or stronger force.

The marines saving the Spartan is a nice touch
So far from just watching wip 6 7 and 8. I love the attention to detail and the absolute flow from the animations. Nothing feels overly exaggerated nor under played. This would actually be pretty interesting to made up into an actual series. Halo Follower has been developing Lone Wolves, but has presented much of the series. This here, there is a lot of potential. If you need any suggest, I guarantee you that we, the community, whoever is interested, we would love to be involved. Keep it up!
Man every one of these parts really just completely outshines the Halo TV show
I am still I shock of how good everything about this is from the storytelling to the combat. Keep up the amazing work this beats any cutscene from 343.
It really doesn't.It's a good piece of Halo fan content tho.
It was really cool seeing the UNSC Army coming in for the rescue near the end
The snapiness of spartan combat is satisfying.
This man needs a business deal or something. His animations are top tier.
This was amazing, thank you Sodaz for sharing your art. This is so awesome to watch.
Your work is beyond amazing. I can't wait to see the final product.
It so damn badass to see a spartan just charge into that elite! Starts CQC, and draws the attention off there defense turrets!
The KING keeps delivering, absolutely loved the close combat parts at the end!
That marine save feels right out of my playthroughs when my shields would be low and a marine I gave a sniper rifle to would pop a pressuring elite buying me time to recover. Damn I love Marines...
HOLY SHIT EACH ONE JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER!!!
This is the halo content we wanted and needed
The way the rounds from the turret light up and smoke on impact 🤌
I like how the Spartans are outside covering the ODSTs since they're the ones with shields.
The quality your putting out in these is unreal
The weight behind the sword wielding elites swings and thrusts made it look much deadlier. There was so much power and speed behind the movements, it makes you realize only a Spartan with their enhancements could hope to compete in cqc with an elite.
Sergeant Forge killed an arbiter in cqc though.
@Chad a arrogant one who thought it was going to be a easy kill
its honestly really nice seeing content that uses all of the unsc instead of just the Spartans it really feels like any new halo content has forgotten about the unsc
I’ve watched everyone of your videos the day or really hour there released lol. You’re doing an phenomenal job, you’re truly bringing the fantasy of halo we all have in our heads to life!!!!
Spartans “no retreat, no surrender; that is Spartans law.” Leonidas.
Incredible job as always! This is easily my favorite depiction of combat in Halo and that Hunter was SEXY, *THANK YOU*
This is beautiful. I love seeing the little guys having such a big impact on the battle. They don't get enough recognition for the shit they put up with. Great work as always sodaz!
Dude up close and personal nice work as always Sodaz
Anything with ODSTs is great, especially using them in their role as a special ops force, while the tanky Spartans distract the enemy
Part of what made early Halo cool is that Spartans were the elite, but still needed marines and other military personnel. That’s sort of how special forces work, they don’t get a magic power ranger base and ignore these basic rules of warfare (looks at 343 making them into just that).
These little battle snippets remind me of the 2000's clone wars shorts.
