2004 Mercedes E55 AMG front suspension clunk diagnosis

I've been dealing with this since I bought the car 10 months ago! I had other stuff on my plate and always intended this spring to be time to sort my E55. But this clunk was evading me. Everything on the lower suspension seemed alright based on visual and some pry barring. I also tried the uppers and couldn't get anything out of it. Not to be deterred I finally jacked it back up to check the wheel bearings, and the lateral play on the upper control arm bushings. BINGO!

What was the issue of this? My cars left side makes rattling noise when going slowly especially over smal bumps .

It was the front bushing of the left front upper control arm. I replaced both front upper control arms and that was solved.

Mine clunks after coming to a stop (hit the brakes car stops a the light “clunk”

what was the clunk sounding like? I have a loud knock only when turning right. Is it similar ?

@@kevin9c1 can i check for play in the bushing with the car on the ground?

@@Spidepig09 Maybe if you can shove a long pry bar in there. It was much easier with the car in the air.
