Wow no other place in the world where you could just walk in a get that amount of personal help with a small project as that. China keeps on impressing me.
rasmus9311 That always what I was thinking! Here in America I once tried to custom paint a computer case and it took me forever to find one plus it's expensive!
His projects are also very specific. To paint a pc case can be done by anyone with a pay spray gun. But buying a specific case and a led apple logo. , laser you specific picture on it, find someone who cuts out your logo with an expensive cnc the whole day. Whole other level.
China seems like such a cool Country. All the people in his videos all work hard to help with his projects. You wouldn't see this in a lot of other Countries!.
@@mjchim4888 That does not mean *all* Chinese people always like to be helpful. A lot are sceptical of foreigners, and some might even look to take advantage of you. That's with any high-population-density country though.
It seems like they went through alot to achieve this logo design for you but in the same time you introduced their company to the whole world. I am sure their time and hard work will pay off 👌🏻
I wish he would buy more of the stuff he gets from market and re sell on his website since we in America have no way of getting this without going to china
Magestic some one doubt the quality of made in china , indeed,we can make from top quality to normal quality, all depends on how much u pay. people who complain bad made on china quality are those poor and wanna buy best thing with lowest price. is that possible?
Heisey Chang I think I understand what you're saying. People wrongfully think that made in China means bad quality. But China has high quality & normal quality. People that complain are wanting high quality at very low price. No that's not possible, you want high quality, you have to pay higher price. I have found, especially with smartphone China makes high quality!
Magestic thats it bro. how much u pay equals to what will u get. u cant buy a BENZ with TOYOTA price and reqire the TOYOTA quality as good as BENZ.no way .
I enjoy watching your videos Tech James, I’ve watched a lot of your PSP videos and they are quite helpful, interesting to run into your comment on this video. :)
Just stumbled across your channel thanks to the algorithm and I’m obsessed, stayed up until midnight last night watching! China is like another whole world, completely different to what the media portrays it to be. It’s now on the top of my travel list once the world re opens
You would need a 100% home brew os that recognizes SD cards and lets you manage it AND a custom board that will convert the data that comes from the SD card to the proprietary apple soc, good luck getting schematics in the first place
The more of these videos that I watch, the more I'm amused and impressed with the Chinese attitude towards this. In the West if you went to a machine shop they'd complain it wasn't worth their time, or too expensive, or generally not want to know. You could see the people in this video were just as interested in making it work as he was. I'd take the phone to Apple and show them, to see what they think ;-)
It'd be short-sighted not to though... over half a million subscribers here; that's a lot of free exposure to a very specialized audience. I wonder if they're aware of this on the China side, or if he's slowly wearing out a welcome when rumor gets around that all he wants is one-offs for the sake of content. I'd personally bet on China being fully self-aware in this respect.
Yeah, E-make's website specifically says "rapid prototyping / tooling" and "low-volume manufacturing"... so this makes perfect sense now that I've read that. Scotty is going to be one hell of a consultant for westerners trying to leverage Shenzhen for their manufacturing if he ever wanted to.
Love the video, and love following your projects! By the way, do you happen to know the song at 11:40? Does not seem to be any of the ones listed in the description (I checked them all, pheew)
I'm no scientist but I wonder if the uneven light could be the diffuser not being flush and/or uneven pressure? It didn't seem like you glued the diffuser and you only glued part of the LED strip. So the light could be leaking to the inside. I bet if you get a tight seal it'll work.
Strange Parts I guess if there's also a coat of metal-look painting the light could diffuse a bit better? Also, maybe you should sand down a small portion of the paint to allow the LED light enter the board fully.
I have an idea, change your channel's logo to be miss aligned therefor the iphone's logo will be perfectly representing your logo xD I would really love it if you could pick a budget or low tier popular android phone (200-300$) and do custom stuff on it as well
dude, he's going to replace the memory chip to a larger capacity. Pretty cool, although I wouldn't risk my data to be put on non-factory soldered chip.
The key thing that your audience and particularly the kids watching learn from your videos, is the importance of troubleshooting, and persistency, if something doesn't work, keep trying until it does. Great work as always.
The reason the the logo isn't quite lighting all the way up is because of the logo split down the middle which defracts the light in a different direction.at which point you need a secondary lighting coming from the half that's dimmer..either way great job this is totally a win in my book thank you so much for inspiring me to do my best as always:) !!!
on my old account i made a video celebrating one subscriber by wearing a horse mask and spazzing on the floor. but then in the comments there were loads of chinese bots sending b=me free vbucks links

I'm also a software engineer who fumbles around with electronics as a hobby and it's super inspiring to see how much you've accomplished. It honestly makes me want to pack my bags and head to Shenzhen. I have a remote job so there's really nothing stopping me, but I'm worried about the language barrier and how hard it might be to live in China without the local language skills. How much time did it take you to get to a "able to get by" level of Chinese? Did you take classes or just do self-study?
