THESE 2 IS literally the same but except otto was a villain but was selfless just to save kallen(he did everything he can even if he dies just to save kallen ig same with himeko even if the honkai infection thing is spreading in her shes still fighting) both sacrificed themselves just to save their loved ones (╥╯﹏╰╥)ง
The fact that kaslanas love to sacrifice themselves for others while the ones close to a kaslana are willing to sacrifice themselves for them.

its not just Otto, Unreal and other captains goes through character development that they probably didn't expect when they first touch this game.
i mean if you look at yourself now, and then imagine the You back then before even reaching final lesson. Mentally different.

They got us to respect, root and even some of us cry, for the character we all hated the most throughout this story. If that doesn't speak for how good mihoyo's storywritting is, i don't know what does...

@@JustEverton with this ammount of lore and in the span of 5 years you're bound to have a few retcons here and there and some small flaws especially since the begining was meh, but they always kept improving with each chapter, not to mention some problems are because of the translation. It's imposible to be perfect and overall i wouldn't call it ''very'' messy. But i enjoy the lore, the sci-fi concepts they come with, the philosophy, the ideas they tackle, the characters and their development, the little details everywhere that some may or may not notice, the music and the many feelings it gives us. They're pasionate and do a good job where it matters. Let's be honest, considering everything i said, how many stories you read are on this level?
@@zunarex There's plenty of stories above the level of Honkai Impact lmao, even if we only look at AniManga medium; I can name alot off the bat. Don't get me wrong, I think Honkai story is still alright, but there's so many areas when the plot moves faster than Black Clover, and so many sub-plots that get rushed or completely wasted (even if you include the manga, the plot still moves at breakneck speed). I can name so many inconsistencies or sub-plots that was shafted from just Himeko's story alone.
Then if we take a look at the power system, it just plain bad imo. You have to be herrscher-level threat to truly matter in the story, you'll be lucky to get ONE shining moment, then you either die or get sidelined and forgotten. You have to be born in a special lineage or have a gem/core or be the lucky survivor of a experiment to be strong in this universe or you're nothing but fodder. They don't really even tell us the weaknesses of most of the herrschers because it seems like they don't have any weaknesses.
The characters imo carry the series (even though some characters and their development can be confusing or bad), but I see alot of wasted potential in the story department .
@@JustEverton in AniManga medium there are many good stories, but not as a big picture, because there aren't many stories with this ammount of lore (world building tho i would agree there are a lot). I can rather think of some in the VN medium. Yes story moves fast, ingame plot happened in just one year, personaly i don't find a problem with that. Yes main focus are the characters, i mean we are talking about godlike beings that bend the laws of physics and immortal superhumans from a longpast era, beside some scientists ofc most of humanity is powerless, that is the point. Not sure what inconsistencies you found or whose character you think has bad development, but i'm sure the people in the lore chat would love to hear it.
Btw, the name of the song IRAs 17514 refers to a star that was born from the debris of a previous dead star, thus symbolizing Otto sacrificing himself for the continuation of Kallen's life.

For me what hit the hardest was during the story when Otto said they realized that he could have done what he wanted without being a villain but by the point he figured that out it was too late. It made this "heroes" ending super well done and emotional for me anyways.
Indeed. That was painful reading. This is perfect storytelling at its finest and I'm proud to stay I continued playing this game. By far the best villain character I've ever seen fictionally. A man who walked the path of darkness to save the light that saved him. Other villains are fuel by power, destruction and conquest. Otto was fuel by the determination to save someone. A man who thought be needed to be a villain but turns out he never needed to.
I think this is why the chorus
“Still, I wish, to embrace the world with my thoughts.”
He embraced the idea of becoming a villain if it meant being able to save Kallen, but after he came to the realization that he didn’t need to, he mightve felt even rhe least mournful for the crimes he committed.
Perhaps if the answer came just maybe four hundred years early, the world wouldn’t have had to suffer so much because of him.
@@Neutral_1zed But you also have to consider that without him being here for those 500+ years that the world might have ended. Durandal and he himself have stated that it was because of him the world got an extra 500 years to prepare for the final confrontation with the Honkai.
You know we had a great villain on our hands when we collectively despise him over everything we did, but we end up rooting and crying for him when he fulfills his goal. Good lord, Mihoyo... 10/10 writing.
What killed me was ottos dialogue right before the cutscene happens in the game. It shows that despite his actions and obsession with Kallen there were others he still cared about.

I hate Otto from the bottom of my heart, but I also love Otto from the bottom of my heart. Definietly one of the best written villains I've ever seen in a game, if not the best.

I interpret the scene where Otto fighting a bunch of Otto clones representing his failures not sins
Each corrupted Otto represents each ver of Otto that has ever attempted to find a solution or go to the imaginary tree and failed to save Kallen, meaning there's many worlds where this had happened and he would soon join them when the corruption fully taken over
Giant corrupt beast represents his failure in the past to try save her from the execution that in the end resulted in her death.

The "corruption" you say is probably his Soulium body already straining after the fight he had with Durandal and Kiana.
Just check his right arm, it's probably the default color of the Soulium and the spreading of the color on his body is the Soulium already at it's limit.

each world is a possibility and Otto was trying to use HoV power to view each world and even talked to the will of honkai to eventually did what his other selves did not
Tbh? I have always loved the villain type that otto is, hell this further makes me appreciate them more. the ones willing to give it all away, sacrifice everything even themselves. "for One More Day" the fact he not only turned the world against him to do this, but at the same time gave his life away to save kallen is saddening... but damn, does that redeem him in my eyes.

Otto gave it all, for that one final moment with kallen. but also, to save the woman he loved so much he would chance extinction than forget about her. Thanks for this amazing villain. Imma go Cry now.
Ya know what he’s like? Lelouch from code geass. Turned the world against him, but yet also corrected it as his form of saving it for the better.
And the best part is that he still thought of the world in the end. His malevolent actions were not just to revive Kallen, but to create heroes that will stand tall as humanity's saviors when his throne and legacy gets trampled down. He gets what he wants but also made sure there was a future for humanity when he's gone.

Something I only just realized watching this cinematic back again; 7:45 is when Otto asks God how to save her in Second Impact and god responds by stabbing himself. It's always really cool to see stories remember these things that could've been a throw away and bring them back way later, "Hear Feel Think" is another one that I loved.
In the scene where otto is back stabbed, music faded, quiet, and otto had a flashback of kallen. Her face is almost completely unrecognizable, the color is not present, white and dark, only the smile remained on her face.
This is a fuckin mihoyo moment.

Otto has gone through so much, so much so his memory about the hero, has vague, darken, even faded. But the smile remained, encourage him to finish this impossible mission. To change the world as he always wishes.
Everyone must decide for themselves about what they're going to do with Otto. I'd neither call him a villain nor hate him. Why? Let's say I know another fictional character who's done even worse atrocities than Otto, I don't hate him and have my reasons for it. If I don't hate that guy, then hating Otto at this point would be a few bits hypocritical on my part, no? Also, I'd rather not call Otto names. "Villain", "Hero", "Anti-hero", "Bastard" - instead of thinking about what would you call him, think about what you will *do* about it. Like smack him across the face. Or leave him a wine chalice. Give him a different chance, maybe. "Maybe that's what Kamisato Ayato is meant to be" - me, who barely touched Genshin 'cause I'm neck-deep into Honkai.
Over-analysis of the second part of Thus Spoke Apocalypse (the one with Regression), I'm gonna miss a lot 🦊
Both Otto's model plane and the time of day in that scene are the metaphor for life. Little boy, not knowing better about the world, and a girl friend at his side, launching his life moving forward. After running after the plane for a little way, the boy looks back to not see Kallen beside him. But the plane flies on, and will keep flying for long 500 years. During that time, Otto - here - shows three distinct states:
"Contempt" - Conclusion of Elan Palatinus, Seven Swords VN and Anti-Entropy VN. He's constantly frowning, hating humanity for what's happened to Kallen, and probably himself for letting that happen and the thing he has done and keeps doing.
"Surprise" - A310 sparing A303, Will of the Honkai stabbing itself, K423 opening her eyes. Even after 500 years, the universe finds it's way to impress him. He might've chosen the wrong means, but that doesn't mean the end he seeks is out of reach.
"Confidence" - negotiations with Kevin and taking power from Imaginary Tree. The moment when he has finally, at long last figured this out. Unfortunately, with a history like his, the world isn't going to simply let him to turn a new leaf, so he has to stay on the stage in a role the world is already perceiving him in - one of a villain.
The model plane finally lands, and the adult Otto picks it up. Adult here in a sense that he's a naive kid no more. The time of the day is sunset, the end of the day. The end of a life.
"Life is too long to end at a grave..." - Otto has lived for too long to quietly retire and let Theresa take over. And assassinating him won't work, either (grumpy Senti noises). He must go out with a bang, dying on a battlefield for what he believes in, and then the gods of old will decide whether or not he's worthy of Valhalla.
Finally, a night scene. Night is death, but in death, from the perspective of reality Kiana and Kiana has saved, Otto and Kallen are sleeping together in the afterlife. Even though they're not really meant for each other (simp jokes). I'll be bold and propose a different meaning to a fire - or rather, the bonfire. You wouldn't make a bonfire in face of an eternal night. Bonfire signifies that the night will eventually come to pass, which, in this little comparison to human life, means reincarnation. *A new dawn will come for both of them.*

Symbolism is when he used a replica of Shamash, a symbol of self-sacrifice to save Kallen and also the weapon Otto hated because it represented the Kaslana's ideologies.

Welp, my comment on stream basically summarized everything I wanted to say but...
I gotta say, this CG, the story and song all did a wonderful job of making us all feel things on a grander scale than we ever expected over Otto. To see a happy ending in a CG is also very nice, we cheered him on during it and prayed he would win because we all knew that he came too far to fail now and even with how messed up his actions were.....this was his only way to make us happy (or least one of a few happy endings).

And seeing the animated scenes of 2nd Eruption with Otto, WoH, Kiana in the cloning tank......to further events like Otto/Kevin talk made me tear up the most.
Especially seeing animated WoH, y'all know me by my name alone that.... I love HoV, Honkai, WoH/HotE 🤣 Course i'm gonna feel a ton seeing em animated hehe
Anyways, was a fun ride through the chapter and story up to this point, i'm ready to feel more emotions when the story continues soon 🍻

Out of context but, in an indirect way Hoyoverse specifically HoYo-Anime, really teasing their full capabilities as in making a beautiful full cannon anime. All of the aspect of quality, soundtrack, story, voice acting. Personally they will be on par with how trending animes would be.
And in every new animation they released it's just getting better and better thus making my expectation of full fledge series possible.
Still, o7 to Blonde legend who's will was very strong and determined. He will definitely be missed.

What a great journey, I always had a soft spot for Otto(I really like characters with tragic storys, and Otto's arc is one tragedy from the beginning to the last sentence), after all that he did, all the rights and wrongs, all the lives he destroyed, all the people he inspired, I think what hited me the most was the aftermath, the moment of peace when you finally realized:"There will be no more Otto Apocalypse... He's gone". For better or worse Otto left his mark on the world.

This jerk who is well-known of performance shows his purity preserved for 500 years. Yes that moment he doesn't need to pretend anymore. He deserves it for a relief.
He is lucky not to be eroded by his mask into a completely crazy man, which is also the luck of this era.
This animation made me feel so many emotions and became my favorite. I broke down in tears for its entire duration. Regression is truly a masterpiece, the lyrics touch each of us, the music brings this atmosphere that brings tears to my eyes.
This is where Mei's quote should be used "If saving u is a sin, I'll gladly become a sinner" but in otto's situation.❤

there is one fact: Otto used shamash and hit exactly at the honkai beast in the end of the clip because he remember every fucking detail the day Kallen die in whole 500 year,he can hit that fucking beast even with his eyes closed

He saw regression, IRAS 17514, and he played act 3 and act 4 on stream. It was bcz of his stream that I was able to understand a lot of things about this chapter bcz it was confusing.

Just randomly putting it out there, Otto Apocalypse is one of the best villains ever written. Change my mind.
I was around the majority of the stream and I cannot help but just truly appreciate how deep and open this reaction was and the series of analysis that came afterwards, and this together with the fact that you read through and understood the lore.
I have seen a handful of creators that were extremely shallow and continued to double down to justify with their "blind hate" which was frustrating and annoying because it disregards the writing that went to the character all of these years.

People been saying Honkai is a game about Depression. Well, I say this is a game about Love.
Cecilia died for love for the people she loves. Sirin plotted revenge for the world taking away motherly love from her. Theresa turned her back and built St Freya in the name of her love for her late friend. Himeko died saving her beloved student. Bronya was prepared to give up her humanity to Core of Reason to save her Seele. Mei gave up her time to be with Kiana because of love.
And Otto? He turned into the most hated man to ever lived on his world so that he can right a wrong done on the love of his love.
Honkai is a story about Love.
I heard the Genshin team wants to make Ayato another Otto. Though I don't see it, and it's hard to pull off with Teyvat being Teyvat.
But, I mean, all the characters that zhuji has voiced for Hoyo has that... vibe to them. The one from Themis is a lawyer with 99% winrate AKA, he's a top tier liar.
And, Ayato is being set up as another "foxy" type guy too. So, maybe we might get Ayotto?
I don't think Ayato's gonna be like Otto. The only reason people compare the two is because they share the same VAs.
@@cactusguy8762 His quotes from abilities - asking people when they fell under the illusion of winning, saying that he can see their heartbeats like ripples in this "calm sea", being his mind, his burst animation is waiting for a ripple caused by a falling sakura leaf and instanstly slicing it - all of that does suggest he hides a more sadistic or savage side. He's a politician and a leader of ninjas that carry out assassinations, he's bound to be shady but I doubt he's Otto level genocidal.
If Ayato will be another Otto, I want him to reference Otto as if he's a reincarnation of him.
Give him a Kallen counterpart and it would be so easy.
I think Ayato will be more like Otto with no tragedy or sacrifices.
I've always liked how otto can invoke such genuine hatred from a lot of people in the playerbase and that's why I know he's a great antagonist. despite the horrendous things he's done, I can't hate on a guy that has dedicated the past 500+ years of his life and is willing to sacrifice everything, including himself, for the most important person in their life.

Every Kaslana is dumb, but not in a bad way, more of an Airhead dumb that is in a good way meant. But you know what every Kaslana also has and that really is every single one of them that we know?
Exactly a partner/multiple Partner that are equally as dumb to go to any length to just protecc them!
Kevin had Dr.MEI, Siegfried had Cecilia, Kiana has Mei and Himeko, Bianka has Rita, and Kallen had Otto.
All of them just want the Kaslanas to just be free'ed of the curse that plagues them and Ch28 really was the culmination of showcasing that for every single one of them. Even Rita given that she went the length with Shakespear to fight her way in Astral Harnes to contact Dudu to be sure she is safe.
We can even use a Analogy on Reality with this.
If your the Kaslana then so are we your Mei, Otto, Cecilia and so on and if Mihoyo/Hoyoverse are the Kaslanas then the playerbase, be it whales or F2P are the Partners for them.
So yeah everytime you got our back, keep in mind we got yours too.
In relation to Mihoyo and Hoyoverse its actually pretty emotional that Regression and Thus Spoke Apocalypse was also the last branding of them as only Mihoyo.
You can't imagine how much i cried when i wrote this initially in Discord. Still quite emotional when putting it here up.

I still hate Otto as a person, but as a character I have massive respect for Hoyoverse for creating possibly the best villain I have seen in years
I too, thought Otto fighting clones of himself was him fighting against all the sins he has committed. However, I believe that when the clones grouped together to form the beast, it created his greatest regret- what he thought as his greatest sin: The sin of letting a honkai beast roam free thus killing thousands as well Kallen.

Just seeing them under the tree there, asleep, holding hands... the songs instruments, and lyrics in the background at the same time… It just breaks me, because of what could have been. Like you said on stream he just needed the right people, they both did, but they didn’t have that. As a result this is what happened, this was the path he came up with on his own.
500 years walking this path in determination and desperation to reach her, the light of his life, in solitude. Committing irredeemable acts along the way. A broken empty heart and soul inching towards his goal, all this time a dead man walking. Finally reaching his goal to sacrifice everything for her. The fire of his anger towards the Honkai and the humanity that wronged them both, extinguished. In turn giving her new life.
I wonder? Will Kallen ever know what he did? Would her heart break seeing the 500 years of her dear inventor? What path will she take if she comes to know all he did? Maybe it’s better she doesn’t know? Maybe it would be too much for her to process? The fact that THIS is how much she meant to him, how much he loved her. Would she break down? Would her heart and soul be crushed? Will she miss him?
This animation is peak mihoyo/hoyoverse imo. The writing is phenomenal. They made us feel for someone we disliked. Now that he’s gone I just feel sad and empty. The lyrics of the song “Just a drop of water suffices.” for me feels like it’s Kallen or the light of Kallen in his life, just a drop of that. We all know a drop of water won’t do anything for us, we need a lot more, but for Otto just a drop of her light… is sufficient after all this time. “Time to leave where I have stood so long.” Combined with the image of Otto and Kallen asleep holding hands just hurts a lot. Hits like a truck. If only things hadn’t gone this way, they both deserved so much better than the trash they got. May any pieces or fragments of Otto’s soul, or being if any, reside in that moment under the tree with Kallen forever, in peace. Cheers Otto Apocalypse.
This cinematic was a masterpiece. I watched it 4 weeks ago without context, and earns so much respect for Otto... With context, I was cheering him on, shedding way too many tears... I play in Chinese, and during "the walk", Zhou Lu, the CN VA, destroyed me... So well performed, and the story so well written...
Wish I could have been there live to watch, but now that I've done it myself at least I can watch the VoD and clips. Hope you got lots of rest after that emotional rollercoaster 💜

I bet there are other stories that can make you cry for the villain, but how often do you get that really? Especially done in a way like this, with a full blown CG animation backed with a whole franchise’s history of lore and backstory.
Watched the manga reaction from UD while going through each of his streams. Man, this really made the emotions rise when watching the reaction to this, where I first witnessed the manga scenes referenced or shown here on UD’s channel. Feels strange to watch this and want to cry, even when I haven’t gotten through all the story he’s played yet. I can’t wait to see what’s in store, even if it hurts haha.

So in the end, he is no monster, he is not an absolute villain, nor is he a god that can do anything the way he wanted with absolute results. He made mistakes, he did bad things, and he stole many beautiful thing in the world like a monster would do.
But is he at fault? Yes technically. But is he any different than any other? Like any other humans, whether bad or good, everyone have their own desire, their own way of doing things and eventually the result won't always be good for others.
Him being evil for others to grow out of the pain against him, him hiding the truth of all his plans until it is almost realized to produce the best results, him sacrificing himself to give humanity both time and breakthrough, and his selfish desire to save the one he cared the most, it is truly, in my opinion as well, The most selfish thing one can do. And I respect that.
Mad respect for the animation team, the one that made the story, mihoyo (or Hoyoverse now) for the game, and the music that follows and for you to react to it. It's fun to see others see this masterpiece as well no matter the reaction.

There's a lot to process and analyze - the music, the song lyrics, animation quality, Otto's dialogue, flashback scenes, parallelism with other cinematic, symbolism, speculations, etc. I believe you can go on for hours just reviewing this piece. And I always look forward to your reaction and analysis of the story. I speed run and skipped the story in-game, and always wait for your turn to stream it. You have a better understanding of the lore, which I appreciate. You make simple explanations of the dialogues when it is quite difficult for others, including me, to comprehend.

When a game gives you a villain that you despise for what he has done, and then turns around and makes you cry for when he dies.....is peak storytelling at its finest.

All of his bad deeds has been repent through his actions in this fight. Otto has done a lot of bad things and most people will not forgive them but he is a hero and a villain. He becomes a stepping stone to destroy honkai in a way of a villain that connects to the hero of the past, willing to sacrifice everything for the future. For that i respect him. He knows that his actions will not be forgiven but he wants to bring the hero of the past to the present to save the world from honkai.
Seems like ayato will be a must in my book so maybe I'm gonna save my primos for ayato, so going to skip all of 2.5 banners.

UD, I kinda relate to you with your situation with your uncle. My godmother was diagonosed with cancer and when I had the chance to go visit her I didn't take it and she died a few days later...it was sad for me that I didn't get to say goodbye to her...

Honestly I love/hate Otto. He has done horrible and unforgivable things but he was dedicated enough to constantly fight until he completed his goal. He is an extremely well written villain and a character that a lot of people would love/hate. In the end he did care about the people in the world, he pushed to create a new time line so that everyone else can keep living and he can atone for what he did which got Kallen killed in the end, allowing her to take care of that time line instead of leading it down the path he took.
In the end he even wanted to be judged as a villain so he turned the "world" against himself so they would judge him.
Watching it again, and seeing Kallen Battlesuits, it ended at Sixth Serenade cux it's the last thing Kallen ever had before her death... Damn
So with Otto finally succeeded, maybe we will get to see more Kallen suits again with the new branches
miHoYo really gave Otto two songs for his short animation. Let that sink in.

Otto action on surface level no doubt 100% evil but that how far u can go to labelled it evil.
As otto himself as a person it impossible to call him evil. This are things that many realised too late. Otto without a doubt a good person at heart. We know he's never like nor enjoy actions that he took to achives his goal. His action are fully planned and calculated to ensure a success, he make many plan but will choice one with most guarantee would yield result but to other eyes the price only make him look cruel. He is unforgivable, but understandable
The fact that Otto regret all his atrocities and wished he found the answer a lot sooner is what broke me man. He had some humanity left within and if it was only up to him he would have never had to do all those evil things we hated from him. He wanted to become a hero but the best option he was left with was to become a villain who would strengthen a hero (k423) and achieve both his ultimate mission (to save Kallen) and to get rid of Honkai (in the persona of K423 as his symbolic hero). What a damn genius and a persistent character all through out. Now THAT is a well written character right there.
