You know you're dealing with a professional when he uses the pavement as his work bench, hoses the whole thing down with tap water including all the electronics, and just spray paints the whole thing (including the underside of the speakers that you'll never see for some reason...) without any sanding or primer like the paint will magically stay on there! This guy is a true professional ...magician!

Yep, of course you can diagnose and repair a digital micro controller board with surface mount IC's using a cheap multimeter in continuity mode !! And nothing fixes muddy and soaked speakers quite like black gloss spray paint !! Genius here !! P.S. If you believe this you'll believe anything..

Yup. The dirt is sprayed on so obviously. Vinyl does not rust. And it is not even an electric piano but a cheap portable keyboard. Electric pianos are completely different instruments.

nothing to a speaker. it would easily clean up and work if fully dried.

    • @halfpickle

That's not what he was doing. He was just checking to see if the contacts to the keys are still connected to the board (they're printed on with carbon paste and if they're bad you can fix them with windshield heater repair compound or conductive paint.) How do I know? I've done it a dozen or so times, myself. Also, while I wouldn't vouch for the longevity of cheap speakers submerged in water (if the enamel on the internal coil is bad anywhere, it'll corrode out, the glue that holds the wires to the cone might weaken, etc.) they're electromechanical devices. They don't go instantly bad from getting wet.

Being an electronic engineer it is my passion to restore electronic items and I do wash certain items like pcb, ICs etc in water. But it is extremely difficult for me to digest that LCD screen and speakers worked perfectly even after washing under running tap water :).

As an engineer you should probably see it's recorded in reverse. They start with a second hand device, clean the parts that were already clean, then make it dirty and clean it again. They just playback the thing in reverse. All devices finally end up in the water near his home for the first scene.

@Rodena Borisova Skordinova You have no damn idea what gets picked out of our city river during annual cleanups. Let alone, what will never see the surface again because it would just be too expensive to clean all areas thoroughly. And I live in a fairly small city(compared to cities in other countries or even on other continents) in central Europe.

This, like so many other "found item restoration" videos, is totally faked. It's basically done in reverse. They start out with a working product, film it working, then disassemble it, and film the reassembly. Finally, they cover it in mud, and put it out in the field and film the discovery and cleanup scenes. This one was really laughable. You don't hose down electronics like that without first disassembling them. The speakers, LCD, and many other parts would not survive that. Also soaking the speakers in water would distroy the cones, which are paper. The random checks on the circuit board with an ohmmeter without any schematic to refer to, and the random re-soldering would not fool anyone who understands electronic repair.

Impossible! For instance, the speakers are made out of cardboard that are definitely dead when put into water! The same with keyboard and switch contacts wich will have been damaged by the dirty water INSIDE of them (you can't wash them from outside!). And what about the Cmos integrated circuits that DON'T LIKE AT ALL any kind of dust, because of their ultra high input impedance (dust acts like a low resistance, even like a short circuit between the input terminals ...)!
Otherwise, the aspect washing of the device is very impressive .....

Obviously this guy was a keyboard assembler at Yamaha, and/or is a Magician. No way could this be accomplished without a lot of magic...

So thrilling, but I have to say it wasn't so damaged or broken piano you restored. I'd like to see more serious damaged ones you restored
